The las few times we were there the service changed, we were there last night and we didn't have a reservation the three hosts at the door were not friendly almost like we were bothering them. The service at the bar while waiting was excellent. Our server was new she was doing her best, The meat quality is not the same as before, the veggies on the side were microwaved and were hard and dry. As we were walking out of there was a used napkin and some trash on the floor , five employees at the door all talking and having a good conversation and no acknowledgment or thank you, nothing! I came to Cattlemen's for my parental-enforced celebratory birthday dinner even though I'm in my early 20's. I was expecting something like Outback or any other chain steak house, but was pleasantly surprised with the friendly service and seemingly realistic decor. I had a steak. There's really isn't much else to say. It was an average steak. Think of an average steak and that's what I had. However, our waitress was extremely friendly and saw to it that we were taken care of comfortably -- all while my parents saw to it to mention it was my birthday in order to embarrass me while the employees sang. The friendliness of the staff complemented the somewhat realistic Western decor quite nicely, and I had a great time pretending not to be embarrassed while they sang. Overall, the steak could've been cooked better (I honestly don't remember if it was good or not, meaning simply that it wasn't good enough to be memorable), but the dining experience is something to be had...but probably not on your birthday. read more

Cattlemens is a great steakhouse. One of the best places to eat in town. I have never had a problem with their steaks not being cooked correctly, and the staff is always nice and willing to accommodate requests. They have weekday specials, which are always great deals. I've tried most of their appetizers and have never been disappointed. They do her crowded on the weekends, but no more than expected for a nice restaurant. So I hadn't been to Cattlemen's in at least 5 years. Well we were on a surprise trip over to my Mother n Laws for her bday. We cruised by the mall and grabbed her a Giants jersey and when we called to make sure she was home they said they were going to Cattlemen's for dinner. Count us in. So when we got there they were already seated. We grabbed a booth and our waitress was there in no time to take our drink orders. Since I was driving I just had a water while The Wife got a Long Island Ice Tea, which she described as "surprisingly good". We grabbed some hot wings and the Rents grabbed an order of the Tumbleweed onions, both were good but I'd have to give the nod to the Onions... and they tumble that's for sure it's a giant pile (someone tells these people to put it on a bigger skillet :P ). The Wife had the filet (shocking I know) with grilled onions and mushrooms added while I had the New York and Bacon Wrapped Shrimp surf n turf. They call it something else, but it's a surf n turf :). The mushrooms came whole and in about a lb of butter, The Wife actually ended up sending them back, My steak and shrimp were superb. The staff was attentive but let us stay for like an hour after dinner and we never felt rushed. I'd totally recommend this steakhouse. It may have even got 5 stars from me if I hadn't become such a food snob in the last few years. Stoped by on Friday night with my family group of five , usually the service here is great maybe they were having a off night .upon arrival the host offered us to sit at the bar i told her we rather wait for a table , our server was nice but not very knowledgeable about the menu or attentive the dining experience started of great and then it went down hill we were sat by the kitchen the rock music the kitchen staff was playing was extremely loud , from the looks of it there was only two male servers attending the main dining room, that probably explains why our server did not come and check on us not once after the food arrived!!we needed refills and sauces we were sick of trying to flag him down every time he passed by our table ( next to the kitchen )he walked of extremely fast he looked overwhelmed, I had to ask two different staff members for my check the host being one of them she said she had to get my server .once my server saw i had boxes he stopped by to drop of the check .To the manager if your staff is running around crazy get on the floor and help them ,most places look understaffed .Thats not the case here if you chose not to help at least leave more servers on the floor stop trying to cut the floor to save your labor . read more

I was craving steak, so we made an impromptu trip to Cattleman's. We live so close to this location, and yet have never made it out here. We walked in, the restaurant was packed, but the friendly hostess seated us right away. Our server was also prompt and friendly, and our drinks and food came quickly. While our meal was decent, this is a steak house after all, so I'm going to have high expectations of their steaks. Both of our steaks were overcooked and under seasoned. I ordered a medium rare and got medium well. The server was super nice and quickly offered to replace it. In all fairness, my replacement steak was cooked a perfect medium rare - but was still under seasoned, so I had to salt it. And I hardly ever touch the table salt at restaurants. Perhaps they were having an off day. I'll give it a shot another night, maybe to try some of their weeknight specials. read more

Cattlemens has been one of my favorite local restaurants since I was little (I am 27 now). It used to be great and then slipped down in quality and service for a while but then improved a lot in the past many years. Two days ago my girlfriend and I went to Cattlemens to enjoy some delicious steakhouse food. As it has been lately, it was a great experience. Our server, Andrea, made our experience the best I have had at Cattlemens. My girlfriend and I love the fresh bread they bring to the table as well as the salads. We eat at least two bowls of salad and a couple loafs of bread each time we go. Andrea was very sweet and attentive even though she had a lot of people and tables to take care of. I ordered what I always order which is the Triple Threat Brochette with their delicious mashed potatoes. My girlfriend ordered a small sirloin with the mashed potatoes. Both steaks were cooked medium-rare as ordered and were delicious. We rarely order dessert but decided to get the cheesecake after dinner and were pleasantly surprised how delicious it was. Two thumbs way down. My family's cattlemen's for decades decades. My friend and I go a few times a year. Cattleman's Dixon has always meant dependable, quality service and quality food. 14 months ago was our last meal at Cattlemens and it was decent for the price. You are paying premium for an Angus steak. Angus steak should without question be excellent. Decent was a bit of a let down. This time we drove to cattlemen's twice.. yesterday because the week prior we were told they opened at 3: 00 pm. On our arrival we learned opening time had changed to 4:00 p.m. The website indicated 3:00 p.m. and reservations for pretty much required on weekends reservations are pretty much required. We made reservations for Monday evening 4:00 p.m. and arrived promptly. We were seated, ordered quickly as we usually order t-bone steak. Usually this means leftovers! I made the mistake of ordering mine with broccoli instead of the standard potato. I would arrived with the onions mixed in rather than on the side as was requested. I picked all the onions out so my friend could eat the salad. My steak arrived lukewarm. The broccoli raw. The tenderloin was excellent the steak was full of gristle. I cut what I could 1/3 of the meat could not be cut. The waitress asked how things were and I explained and demonstrated. She said she would "mention it to the chef". " Was I expecting some sort of accommodation". Given that attitude I certainly did not want to experience anything more. What a disappointment Cattlemen's. You're not worth a return trip. read more

First off I have NEVER had a good experience here but this one is the first that made me violently sick! Me and my husband went to celebrate a big accomplishment in my life and we ordered surf and turf. My steak was awesome however my lobster was hard. It shouldn't be hard to cut into lobster. I sent it back and asked for crab instead. I'm glad I asked them to just box it because it took forever to get it and we were done with our meal by that time. We are regular customers and recently went for dinner with my elderly mother. We clearly told the hostess my mom needed a table and she told us the wait was 15 min. After more than 20 minutes they called our name - when asked if it was a table she said no it was booth. She then said it would be another 20 min for a table. We said we'd wait (we had no choice). Then she sat numerous other people. When I asked, after 15 min because my poor mom was very hungry and in pain from sitting on the bench, the hostess in a very nasty tone said it wasn't 20 minutes yet. She was so rude! She had no concern or sympathy for the elderly and did the exact same thing to another family with an elderly father who also requested a table! Do not go to this restaurant if you have anyone with mobility issues or special needs - they are not accommodating at all! read more

Visiting our son & his family, my wife craved a great ribeye. My daughter-in-law suggested Cattlemen's. We arrived just before 6 on a Thursday, sans reservation, still in the midst of the COVID hysteria. About 30 minutes before we were seated. Zach, our waiter, was great, especially with our 4 year old granddaughter! Tried the shrimp wrapped in bacon. Interesting, but wouldn't repeat. The ribeyes and the New York steak earned 'very good'; the Dakota chicken was excellent. And it all started with a huge outstanding salad & great sourdough bread! Though I saw none in the eating area, the parking lot was full of police cars. I most definitely support any eatery that police officers use for what must have been a banquet or something! HORRIBLE service. I took my wife here for her birthday. It took them 23 minutes to serve us water. Finally we got to order our food. It took them over an hour to bring us our food. At last we got our food. Since it took them so long, I figured this food will be the most outstanding thing. I mean why else would it take so long? It definitely wasn't a busy night. I went here last night and was excited to go because I had not been here in years. I remembered that the food was delicious. They had told us 45 minute wait when we arrived but the wait was only about 20 minutes. The menu offered so many options that made it difficult to choose - they have steaks, prime rib, salmon, bbq ribs and many more options. They offer a special for two people with an appetizer, two 9 oz. prime ribs and dessert all for a good price. We did not get the special but our meals came with salad and a side which was definitely enough food. The food was delicious and I would definitely return. My family and I recent went here for a family dinner. Our server, Rachelli (sorry about the spelling) was AMAZING!! Best server I've ever had! I would definitely ask for her personally next time we come in! She was assertive, and kind! She would always make sure we had everything we needed. She was very responsive with all of our needs! We had not been to Dixon's Cattlemens for a while. We decided to go this last Friday. We got seated at the area behind the Host's Counter, in the room with the windows to the main parking lot. As soon as we walked in, it smelled like a stuffy men's locker room, with urine smell present! My Wife seemed to think it was just the old carpet. Well, whatever it is it needs to be taken care of as it's a disgusting smell! With that being said, I still recommend (but go to a different room) as the food is very good and the service is great. read more

I'm not a red "meat" kinda gal but every once in a while I try to make sure my husband gets a chance to enjoy prime rib. We stopped after the State Fair and were starving. Our food was fast and mostly good. My sweet potato was great and my Pete's sirloin was actually a "order again" item. Hubby enjoyed his prime rib and garlic fries. The only negative there was the pot of beans was cold. Like...not even remotely warm and since they were served in a metal bowl it was super obvious. The Italian salad dressing also had that weird metal can flavor. Ranch was an easy substitute. Our waiter Frank, was great and we enjoyed his being on top of things and checking in a great amount of times....when needed and not when your mouth is full. He didn't mind the changes I made on the dessert and worked with my need of skipping 1/2 of it and put it in a to-go box to enjoy later since we still had a 90 minute drive home. I always passed by this place and was always curious. I finally stopped by and it was pretty good. Our server Brandon had great service. Kept checking on us, refilling our waters, and the bread. The bread is delicious and they always served it hot to us. Food, I would give about 7.5. One of the reasons why i'm giving it 4 stars is because there was a huge animal head right above us. So after being at Cattlemens once before with my wife I decided to take my family mom and dad included I know from previous visits you must stick with their steaks four of us had the Pete special my oldest daughter had the T-bone mom had the triple brochette. My wife had the 6 oz filet mignon our server Rackelli was absolutely on point was the best server experience we've ever had going to Cattlemens she went way and Beyond to get what we wanted we had a group of eight all the meats were cooked perfectly the salad was great and dressings the warm sourdough is just absolutely always good are water cups and drinks were always full I definitely would go back and ask for Rackelli. I would suggest dining early we went when it opened at 4 p.m. there were a few customers in there but we pretty much had the place to ourselves when we were leaving it definitely was getting full we had reservations I suggest getting reservations for the wait will be long, all in all our family had a great dinner and meal thanks to our server Rackelli.
