This was my first time dining at this steakhouse, and I certainly did not expect a single 12-ounce prime rib dinner to turn into an absolute six-course eating challenge. Right from the moment I walked through the door, the first thing I noticed was how clean and well-maintained the entire establishment was. The ambiance set a great tone for the evening, which was immediately backed up by very good service. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and paced the meal perfectly, making sure we were taken care of without ever feeling rushed. The culinary experience started on a high note with the complimentary bread service. The bread was fresh, warm, and very tasty, especially when paired with the delicious butter provided. Next up was the fried calamari appetizer, which turned out to be another highlight of the night. It arrived at the table well-seasoned and perfectly crispy, avoiding the rubbery texture that ruins so many seafood dishes. They also served a salad that honestly looked quite good and fresh. However, I didn't pay it too much attention, let's be honest, nobody comes to a high-end steakhouse to eat rabbit food, so it went mostly untouched. For the main course, the sides and the presentation were mostly impressive. The baked beans were a standout companion to the meal, cooked until they were soft and packed with flavor. Then came the main event: the prime rib. In terms of preparation, the kitchen nearly nailed it. It was incredibly juicy, tender, and beautifully seasoned, arriving at a near-perfect medium-rare. Unfortunately, the execution was marred by a major butchery oversight. One entire end of the cut was completely un-trimmed, consisting of pure fat and silver skin. Because of this lack of preparation, only about 9 ounces of the 12-ounce portion was actually edible. Bottom line: The flavor profiles here are undeniable. Everything we tasted was very good, but the failure to properly trim a premium cut of meat was a disappointing mistake for a steakhouse. I would still recommend giving them a try, but hopefully, the kitchen pays a bit closer attention to their butchery next time.

Great food and amazing price value! The entrees come with salad and side and the prime rib I got was so delicious! I wish they had more locations!

6/14/2026. Upon arrival, the decor was just out to the west. Lived the interior design except the maybe fake dead bear in the wall. Service was wonderful. Our waitress was extremely attentive and friendly. I ordered the lemon drop (alcohol $12) which was pretty good but also pretty darn strong for a light weight like me. I also got the 16 oz prime ($47.99). It was pretty good except it was slightly dryer than I excepted but still overall wonderful. -0.5 My friends grilled chicken was well seasoned but apparently on the dry side. Who can was very unfortunate -0.5 Overall, wonderful dinner, staff, and food for a Sunday night out.

Always a comfortable rustic feel inside. I've been eating at Cattlemen's for over 45 years and I'm never disappointed. Unfortunately I heard the one in Petaluma where I grew closed. So I was in Roseville so I had to rekindle good memories. We were sat down quickly and the waitress took our order the same. I ordered my usual "the Cowboy steak" medium rare. It came with "the Fixings" and all-you-can-eat salad, hot sourdough bread, ranch-style beans, and I picked the baked potato with everything. The salad was simple but cold and fresh with my choice of ranch dressing. The bread was plenty and hot. The beans were flavorful. And the steak was seasoned perfectly and exactly medium rare. It doesn't matter which spot you go to the food is always good and supported my fawn memories of Cattlemen's. Highly recommended!!

Am disappointed seeing the rating for Cattlemen's Roseville. We have eaten at the Livermore, Dixon, Rancho Cordova and many times at the Roseville location where we live. We always get great service. The restaurant can get very busy, so a reservation is always recommended. We know how to maneuver our way in and out during peak times. Lately we have been having the happy hour which starts at 4pm. We try to make it right at the start to get the best seating. The staff there are super helpful--even the bartender makes their way over to your table to get things started for you. They really watch over each other's back to make sure you have a great experience. The food always comes out without delays and we never have to ask to have the steak redone. Made to perfection. Love the restaurant chain and the people. We will definitely continue eating at Cattlemen's.

Great drinks here and had a perfectly cooked ribeye. Lots of parking outside! It can get busy so we call ahead to see how busy they are. Love coming here but it takes a little talking my wife into.

For a party of 10-12 people, you have to have to be a skilled and patient server. Also, anyone in a large group or party needs to be patient with your server. Mike was our server and he did amazing! I absolutely love the part where he asked if anyone needed a drink other than water... grabbed a couple drinks, but then we actually needed more, so he went to get those, lol, sorry Mike! As we walked into Cattlemen, my party was already sitting with about 10 people. We wished happy birthday and sat down. We could've probably used a bigger table, but we made it work! I liked how Mike had a good system for taking our orders. It showed he was well organized with our choas all while taking care of other tables. Soon after taking our orders, the bread and salad came out.... why was this salad so good!!? Crisp lettuce, tomato slices, cucumber, red onions, and my side of the table got the croutons on the side. Their ranch is delicious! After a good amount of time passed, I honestly would've been so happy with just the salad, but... come on, I ordered a 6 ounce filet mignon with a baked potato! I was not about to disappoint my taste buds! I made sure not to eat with my eyes and ordered that 6 ounce instead of 10 ounce. The plating for by dinnerwas simple Not overloaded. I liked that there was not any garnish I would have to move around to get to my meal. Some of my guests ordered other gorgeous plates meals like the full rack of beef ribs, 14 ounce ribeyes, 10 ounce sirlions. My daughter ordered a half rack of ribs. Every steak has perfect grill marks. I was very impressed. The kitchen was knocking it out of the park tonight. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection. I did add some salt, but I like that it came not seasoned so that I could add it to my liking. The restaurant came out to sing happy birthday! There were so many birthdays last night (Virgo Power!!!) It was nice celebrating theirs and clapping along, too!! Amazing service by Mike... he doesn't know how picky I am (that's an under statement) when I go out to eat, lol, and between his perfect service and the kitchen's precision cooking, my entire table was the happiest group I have ever seen!

Had a ribeye med rare. Flavor was good but was tough and stringy. Cooked med rare in parts medium to well in other parts. The baked potato had no flavor it had some flavor from all the added salt cheese and bacon. I will say the salad was pretty good and the blue cheese dressing was amazing. Dee at the bar was awesome fast and friendly. I might try again but with reservation.

    Jimmie M.

The sourdough bread and butter was a very good start! All you can eat salad was fresh and we all enjoyed. A group of four to celebrate my birthday. They all ordered a small steak but not me. I ordered the bone-in rib eye, medium rare+ with a yam and added pecan butter. My meal was so very good and it made my day. The only issue we had was the service was vey slow getting our steaks. They were delivered hot but we had to wait to long

Reading some of these reviews I believe people just love to complain. We have been coming to Cattlemens for decades, this branch and most of the others. Each and every time we were served promptly with tasty fresh dinners without even one complaint ever. We have eaten at this store twice in the last month and cant wait to go back. Their bar is perfect, quick service and well made cocktails. I have eaten all around the world and at many high-steak houses and I would hold up Cattlemens against any of them. If you are looking for beef, well cooked, fairly priced with great service then you owe it to yourself to go to this store or any of the other Cattlemens in California.

We had a great family dinner here! The salad is bottomless and the sourdough bread is too! I ordered the little steak with butter and herbs with baked potato. It was very filling. It also came with beans as a side. My Shirley Temple was perfect. Our waitress was nice and helpful. Great decor too! I honestly can't wait to go back.

Wow baby! I ate like a king this day and it cost most of my gold coins to eat here. I knew it wouldn't be cheap for the girls and I to have a good steak before heading back home to Reno. I've only been here twice and their service is excellent, the environment is awesome, and ooh ooh that smell. We all had a good time and even brought home dessert that had the lingering smell of steak. So good!

This was their add-on shrimp for $12.99, you only got five shrimp and they were a little overcooked.

    How is there outdoor seating?

    There is no outdoor dining

My Dad is salt restricted, but can eat meat. Is there an option to have a cleaned up ribeye with no seasoning?

Advise the waitress to have the steak straight from the grill with no seasoning before or after. It should come out just fine!

She also agreed gristly which is a big no-no for her too. My wife had the salmon over rice & broccolini which she paid extra bc she's not a fan of cooked spinach. Her plate was very hot which kept her salmon warm to eat which was a huge plus. She definitely needed the steak knife to cut the broccolini. She was much happier with her dish more so than I was with my dish. But she felt her salmon wasn't too memorable taste wise. Our server was great & the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. We had the fried calamari appetizer and it was delicious, not greasy at all and had fried green beans and onions mixed in. Wife loved her grilled salmon entree. We both enjoyed our cocktails as well. Service was fairly good overall, although it took a long time before our server came to take our order and service was just all around slow. Very friendly though. Cons: My entree was not good. Ordered the pappardelle with short rib ragu. This was NOT a ragu as it is commonly known, it was more of a cream sauce with some meat in it. The pasta was swimming in cream. And I hate cream sauce. I never would have ordered it had the menu description said it was a cream sauce. The server offered to make me another entree but I did not want to wait another 30 minutes so I choked down what I had. Value is not good. The burger is $20, for example. Prices are a bit too high for the experience you are getting. Verdict: We may be back, as 2/3 of the food was quite good, they just failed on my pasta dish. But it's pricey, so who knows. We had originally reserved a tatami table, but quickly realized it wasn't the best fit for our group since we had some older people with knee pain. Just a heads up, the tatami seating does not have recessed flooring. Luckily, we were able to adjust to a regular table. Once we were settled, we looked through the menu and ordered a double toro roll, a wagyu roll, and a dinner bento with unagi-don. Happy to report everything we ordered was delicious! The double toro was very fresh and refreshing, and the wagyu roll had a rich, savory flavor that reminded us of a yummy steak. We enjoyed every bite. I was especially impressed with my bento box. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were very generous. The bento came with steamed egg, a fresh garden salad, assorted tempura, and unagi-don. Everything in the box tasted great. This occurred throughout our dining experience and we didn't feel welcomed at all. Our table also wasn't the biggest and there was no pre-bussing done to clear our dining space. The Shirley Temples came without cherries, so we asked our waiter about it. He told us the cherries are "reserved for drinks at the bar," but are available for Shirley Temples upon request. Um...okay? Shirley Temples are practically known for the maraschino cherry, especially when kids are ordering them. And if they're available upon request, why not mention that when the drinks are served? It then took another five minutes just to get the cherries. The timing of the food was even more frustrating. The kids' bento boxes came first. About five minutes later, the adult chicken teriyaki plate arrived. Then two of the sushi rolls and my chirashi came out. The third sushi roll didn't arrive until roughly 10 minutes after that. We went out to eat together as a family, but everyone ended up eating and finishing at completely different times. Our waiter also never came back to check on us, ask if we needed anything, or offer drink refills. At the end of the meal, my husband wanted to use tap-to-pay and we asked for to-go boxes. It took another 5-10 minutes for the waiter to bring the card reader and a box. Then I asked for a bag for the leftovers, and that took forever too. The entire experience felt like it was moving in slow motion. After spending $200, we left completely unsatisfied. We have eaten at the Mikuni locations in Fair Oaks and Folsom many times and have never had an experience remotely this bad, which made this visit even more disappointing. I called the restaurant today and spoke with the manager. To his credit, he was very apologetic, listened to everything I had to say, and didn't make excuses. However, after a $200 dinner where the experience was poor from beginning to end, the only resolution offered was a $25 credit. I appreciate the apology, but $25 felt pretty underwhelming considering the overall experience. I guess it'll cover one sushi roll next time--hopefully one that arrives before everyone else is finished eating.

Minus one point for the ice tea that wasn't supposed to be sweet. The set up for the buffet was inviting. You walk through and serve potions you want. Of course, the crab legs were the most sought after. The salted ones look delicious. The boiled ones were just as appealing. Taste wise they were about the normal fare. Nothing amazing to them. I tried many items there but the sticky rice in the hot pot tins were amazing. I would advise to stay away from the ribs there. The crawdads were just miserable. The majority of the tails were squishy.

It also wasn't very busy, so we wanted to give it a fair shot. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill fast once we sat down to eat. The sweet-and-sour soup was extremely oily and had an off taste. More concerning, nearly all of the food on the buffet was cold. The only thing remotely warm was the soup. When we brought it up, the server explained they were transitioning between lunch and dinner and offered for us to wait while they replaced the food. I appreciate the offer, but that doesn't excuse having a buffet--especially with seafood, poultry, and meat--sitting out cold. That's not just unappetizing, it raises serious health concerns. We chose not to stay and eat. Again, the staff was polite, but food safety and quality just weren't there.

Q1227 easily became one of my favorite dining experiences in Sacramento…read more We started with the lobster bites and broccolini. The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit.

It was a new place for all of them, but I've been here (and the previous location) multiple times. The food has always been good and I enjoy the creative menu. As expected, everyone enjoyed the food this night as well! I had the Beef Wellington, something I rarely see on menus... so when I DO see it, it's usually on my short list. It was excellent. The broccolini was great too (it was the veggie I chose). And... the carrot cake! Bravo! I love a great carrot cake. The unfortunate negative for us? And I hate to even mention this, but it was definitely a thing for us... the musician, whom I LOVED for his talent and music... was just too loud for us. Not sure what to suggest on that. We enjoyed the music, but we couldn't hear anything else. We couldn't hear each other... we couldn't hear the waiter more often than not... the horn (clarinet) just blasted us out. We weren't RIGHT next to him, we were a couple tables away... but the same side of the room as him. In the future, I'll try to be seated further away if I'm with a group that wants to talk. I'll be back... but maybe after I take an ASL course.

Il Fornaio is one of these places. We love sitting at the bar for Happy Hour. So many craft cocktails and I love experimenting with them. Sometimes I'll simply have a refreshing beer. I love pizza. The Fradiavola is a favorite happy hour item along with the calamari. We also absolutely love our server who always is on top of it. She's one of the reasons we keep returning. Some days it's quiet and other days can get busy. It's spacious and plenty of room for everyone. If you haven't tried it, what are you waiting for? ;)

Presentation was lovely and everything arrived in a timely fashion. We ordered the salmon and the Grigliata di Pesce Misto (mixed seafood plate). The salmon dish was a thicker filet that stayed moist. The seafood misto was enjoyable overall, though the smaller portions of fish ended up a bit drier by comparison. The atmosphere and ambiance continue to be one of the reasons we come back. We've probably been half a dozen times over the years and I can confidently say this was my favorite visit yet. There's construction happening outside at the moment, but honestly it didn't detract from the experience at all. Tonight we skipped dessert... which may have been our only mistake. If history serves, dessert is usually one of the highlights here.
