Incompetent and careless. They did work repairing our kitchen a few years ago after mold. What they…read moresaid would be a 2 week job turned into probably 5 months. Writing this now because I just saw an outlet underneath the sink that's not at all mounted to the wall and was reminded of how ridiculous this whole ordeal was. They'd come maybe 2 times a week, maybe less, sit in the driveway and wait for each other for a while, and they'd always forget what they were supposed to do. Then they'd say "ah ya we remember now, gotta go to Home Depot" and take another 1-2 hours. The pace of work was incredibly slow. When they were redoing our kitchen, we came home and saw that the main handyman had bought cabinets for the sink that opened straight into the fridge and stove, so you could barely open them. It was on a corner, so clearly a corner / lazy Susan cabinet was needed. Delayed the job by however many days. They cracked the sink they put in, and there's carvings in the countertops from where they messed up with sloppy cutting. When they installed the AC window units, they stained the window panes, sink, and the outside of the house with the insulation foam and didn't attempt to clean it until I asked. They didn't get much up; still stained. They didn't put calking around the countertop they put in behind the sink. There were a bunch of other times where similar things happened that I had to ask them to redo it or do a part of the job they'd missed.

We had CAV put up drywall and insulation in our garage, which had been gutted down to the studs. There were lots of cutouts and nooks and crannies to work around. They did a great job. I waited a few days before reviewing because after they finished I painted the room -- that's when you get a good close look at the workmanship, and I was impressed. We also had a carpenter working at our house one day who commented on the skill of the drywaller. We got another bid and CAV was considerably lower. Part of the reason was that Carlos suggested a way to save money by using an orange peel finish, which cuts down on the labor time. So the bids were not for identical work, but give CAV credit for coming up with a way to save the client some money. They are very busy, but we were persistent and we're pleased with the outcome. read more

I initially tried to hire Home Depot to organize the repairs, but their agreements with builders prohibit HD builders from preparing the floors and cabinetry before finishes. It was a long series of disappointments over company policies. Miron was able to prepare the floors and cabinetry and match prices on HD finishes. Him and Carlos designed custom cabinetry, which improved storage, at no additional cost compared to HD. Miron referred me to DTLA floor and quartz dealers who had larger selection and good prices.
