I've turned into a CAVA hater. The reason being, I've grown tired to the fast casual build-your-own-bowl experience and the times I've eaten at CAVA, I didn't see what all the fuss was about. I was less than thrilled the eat a CAVA but it was what my friend picked and I was returning a favor. So the cards were stacked against CAVA. This was my first visit to a fairly new location. Conventional wisdom would say that this visit may suffer from hitches and hiccups but I must say that it didn't. The restaurant was packed--it was lunch time and CAVA is currently en vogue but the line moved. I ordered and was sitting down, in a clean booth with the quickness. The food was cool. I did pick my own ingredients and I believe that I made nice choices. As much as I am an admitted hater, CAVA gave up the goods. p.d. I longingly stared at CAVA while it was under construction, waiting for it to open. Living over one in coHI in DC, I knew what I was getting into. I usually get their supergreens + harissa + spicy feta + red pepper hummus + falaffel + cabbage + cucumber. It's a fantastic salad. I'm a Cava fan and I get takeout from this location 3 or 4 times a month. It's gone downhill recently. Not as generous portions. Sometimes bad bits in the salad mixes. Often out of ingredients. They try to be fast, but it sometimes results in them getting my order wrong. On my last visit I got undercooked lentils. They were impossible to weed out. My meal was ruined and of course I did not discover it until I'd gotten home. Not sure whether I'll be returning or whether I'd recommend this location. read more

Interesting concept, a make your own bowl restaurant. Fun to add ingredients I would not normally try or have on hand at home. Casual setting, a place you wouldn't necessarily spend a lot of time having a meal. A bit pricey, especially if you add drinks and something for dessert. read more

I don't know what is going on lately but this location has gone down in their service. The orders are newly always wrong and the crew seems confused by the orders which is a main item on their menu. So this place is super close to my house so we always go to this particular Cava. We went on a Sunday afternoon to find out they were out of 2 of their dips, 4 of their toppings, 2 of their dressing and even out of bags.. we had to carry our large order in the rain. I'm confused because no one warned us that they were out of half of their items. We would have gladly went to a different location. I placed an order online & my husband went to pick it up for me. They gave him the wrong order for another Sara & since he didn't know what I ordered, he didn't notice that it wasn't mine. I asked him to take it back & they had the nerve to give him attitude & told him that next time he needs to check the name to make sure it's correct. EXCUSE ME BUT I BELIEVE THATS YOUR JOB! I usually frequent this location before heading to the movies, the line moves even when it's packed and the teas are always tasty just as any other Cava, the prices are continuously rising (I was here a few months ago, ordered the same thing and the total was $21 and some change, today it was $25.00) but hey... that seems to be the trend when "eating clean" CONSPIRACY!!! I love CAVA! Right now they have a seasonal roasted vegetables that you can order in leu of meat in your bowl. I like to order the greens and grains it's a nice mixture of both and keeps me full. Cava is a healthier option for a meal in the go than most fast food/ carry out restaurants. This location is in the Potomac Yards shopping center which means it has a free parking lot (yay) but it is often crowded and full of people and cars (boo). Four stars because I wish they had their full menu up on the wall it would make ordering a lot easier. read more

I love cava. Prior to this location opening, I made the trek to the duke street location regularly. I was excited to get a location closer to me. However, I have been here a few times now and I prefer the duke location. I found that this location has been a little skimpy with the food. The dressing is light also. They don't usually ask if I would like a mini pita with my greens/grains bowl. When I go to the other location, I am asked consistently. I also think the general amount that they put in the bowl seems to be smaller. I'm sure kinks are being worked out since it is new. I hope to be able to update this review later on with better experiences. read more

AMAZING FOOD, AMAZING PEOPLE. This is probably one of my favorite places to dine in the area. Food and toppings are always fresh, I love the fact that they always have something new for me to try, for example , juices and toppings. Today I was driving near Potomac yard when I saw there was a cava, and I decided to eat there for lunch. By the way it was my first time visiting this location in particular. I left there really happy with the customer service they offered me as a customer I felt really welcomed and satisfied with my food. I tried CAVA in search for better food choice in fast food. I don't know if it was the menu or my lack of knowledge of make a decision from their menu because I didn't know what to order and afraid that I wouldn't like the concoction on display but the young man who took my order was patient in explaining the different flavors of the dips and hummus. The intimidation subsided, the grain bowel was great! Chipotle Who? Qdoba What? the food is a tad bit cheaper as well. I can say that I will be back to try more new items on the menu You know... it really makes a difference when an affiliate of an establishment extends themselves to ensure you have an understanding and satisfied; and that's with any establishment. read more

When they are on their game, this is a great location with excellent service and fresh food. When they are off their game, expect rude service, brown lettuce, and stale bread. We were looking forward to having another fresh restaurant located conveniently at Potomac Yards, and have been to this location more than a dozen times now for lunch during the work day. Unfortunately, after about the first month of operation, we could no longer count on them to be consistently good. The penultimate difficult experience included rude service behind the counter followed by me digging into my salad to find rotted arugula. I give the manager points for trying to make it right and giving us coupons for a free meal next time. Our final poor experience occurred when we tried to use the coupons only to find that one was expired, apparently when it was given to us. Points rescinded. There wasn't exactly any urgency behind the counter to make that right, either. On the up side, the movement of Cava into the shopping center has pushed the Chipotle, which had slid a little, to up their game. If you had been disappointed there in the past, give them another try. read more

The first time because it was freezing cold and the second because they gouged me on the bill! I ordered the exact same meal at the Kingstown location and it was significantly less expensive!? We were big fans of Cava, but had a bad experience with delivery from this location recently. We received our order and one of the bowls was missing multiple items and had the wrong dressing. It looked like they just stopped making the bowl half-way through the process. When I contacted them to let them know, the best they could offer was a $5 refund. Recently, Cava has become my go-to for a quick lunch or late dinner when I'm on the go. It's honestly one of the best values for ~ $10. I am disappointed that they took away the chips topping option from the menu. The crunchy chickpeas are not a satisfactory alternative. The crunchy chips were the perfect topping for the savory bowl.
