It seems the locals know all about Perfect Pita, and I have to admit I'm glad I found them. While the location is geared more for takeout with a few chairs, the spartan atmosphere is made up for the value of their offerings. My pita was filled with meat and cheese and was really good. You have to select your own bottled or canned drinks and chips plus they have some baked goods. Service is efficient but personable and turn around is fast as you wait after ordering. I ordered 3 pita pizzas with toppings each pizza with toppings came out to 18.72 so times that by 3 its 56.16 when I got there the lady working the register said that only one of the pizzas I paid for comes with toppings..... which makes absolutely no sense what so ever and she was only say that cause of how the Uber Eats receipt printed out. What a lovely little gem on Kings in old town Alexandria. The staff was super friendly and welcoming right when we walked in. The menu had a ton of enticing options. Food came out quickly, was super fresh, and all three of us loved our meals. Got the Gyro myself. The meat was flavorful and the pita was perfect. The girls got breakfast pitas and loved them. Got the snack pack with the jalapeno humus too and it has the perfect kick. I was in town for work and Perfect Pita was recommended for the short lunch breaks as it was in the same building as the event. I finally visited on the 3rd and final day after others kept recommending it (and some ate there all 3 days!). I ordered the gyro pita which was good. The tzatziki sauce wasn't my favorite but it did add some flavor. The stuffed pita was good and easy to eat one-handed. The gyro meat had flavor and tasted like I expected. Perfect Pita had plenty of bottled drink options in their coolers with a mix of sodas, tea flavors, and juices. They don't have fountain drinks. There were also a variety of grand and go food items and chips available as well. There's a few tables inside which our group took over but most other patrons were doing grab & go for their lunches. Very bland & less enthused about today's lunch. The highlight of my experience was looking online at their menu & seeing a Vegan section...that's about it. I opted to try the Zorba & A Perfect Pita w/o the Feta Cheese. It stated it came with large crisp iceberg & romaine lettuce & indeed It did. Additional items were red cabbage, red onion, tomatoes, green peppers, cucumbers, Greek olives & a choice of dressing, I chose the red wine vinaigrette dressing. My salad came with enough greenery to feed 5 rabbits, no red cabbage or onions as listed, 3 tomatoes, a few cucumbers & 2 greek olives pitted...found that out the hard way. I requested a side order of Falafel, got two, @ $1.55. I'm glad I ordered the Navy Bean Soup, a side of Roasted Red Pepper Hummus & Chesapeake Bay chips, as the latter was my lunch. The price point was fantastic, had it been more, I'd be more less than enthused & not as kind with my review. I was treated to a take-out lunch from here, for which I picked a generously loaded Mediterranean Salad (with a red wine vinaigrette dressing) from the menu. It's got a lettuce base, topped with a white bean concoction, a finely-chopped tomato mixture scoop, humus, three rolled grape leaves, and three falafel balls (those were ordered as an extra topping). They added a piece of house-made pita as well. Quantity does not compensate for the lackluster quality of the food. The humus was way too runny and entirely forgettable. The tomato mix, could perhaps have been tabouli-ish at a stretch, but lacking any hint of herbs such as parsley or mint, just seemed more like a salsa. The salad dressing was more oily than zingy. The falafel were just okay. The beans didn't stand out either. So halfway through this monster salad, I had the sinking feeling that I was eating more only because it was physically in front of me, and sort of tasty in a way that a boring cheese sandwich at lunch wouldn't be... The one saving grace were the grapeleaf rolls which were quite tasty. I would have had a plate of those alone. In sum, Perfect Pita is far from it. If they are going to bill their food as Mediterranean while making absolutely no effort to include fresh herbs that would give it the requisite kick and zing to be in the ballmark of 'authentic flavor', then it's IMPerfect. Sniff. As for the play on the name Pita, I've forever been spoiled by, and still crave, Pita Pouch's galactic offerings in Falls Church. If you're like me, you don't care much for store bought pita bread. If you are like me, you want your food to be manicured. If you are like me, you want to dip your food in a sauce or curry. Being first time visitors and needing a gyro fix, we were eager to give the Perfect Pita (PP) a try. it also appeared to be the only pita place within walking distance from work. Manicured between perfectly leavened slices of pita were lamb meat and accoutrements - all fitting well. No bulges. no spillage. the pita was pressed perfectly and evened out. A side of tzatziki sauce was provided to drape your pita in flavor. Pay cash and get a discount. $7.50 for the lamb gyro. Lots of extras were available - $3.50 for a bottled drink and chips. $1 for an avocado. The interiors were well lit. I counted less than 6 tables. A separate counter for phone orders was visible. The premises were clean with pictures of menu items draping the walls. The audience was mostly white. Not sure how they'd do with dairy and gluten ingredients at PP or if PP offered gluten and dairy free options. PP literally marks one end of King Street, the end that is closer to the metro. With the Old Town shuttle stop near outside its entrance, the location is poised for a lot of foot traffic and business. I'd visit again. I would love to try the pizza next time. $6 for 2 items on a Friday. read more

I came here for lunch today and was very eager to try pretty much everything as their menu describes delicious and light fare for every taste! I settled on the Mediterranean salad sampler and man is it HUGE. This is probably a good shared salad, or a whole entire meal by itself if you're super hungry. I thought that the navy mean salad was pretty good, the tabbouleh seemed a little on the blander side, but the hummus was pretty good. Overall, I'm definitely ready to try something with a little more kick! Also, the pita, while pretty dang big, was not crazy impressive. I was expecting maybe a little charred number, or something really flavorful, but this pita was basic and just okay. Absolutely delicious stuffed pitas! Fresh, first rate ingredients in the best pita bread we can remember. (The side of falafel was so-so, but we were picking up at closing time so I give them a pass on that.) There are a few tables inside, but this is basically a take-out (and Uber Eats) operation, and they close at six, but that's ok if you can pick up or get delivery by then. The foil wrapped pitas are big and juicy, so set the oven to 200 and keep the food warm until you're ready to eat. read more

The Perfect Pita lives up to its name! My go-to place for the best hummus and pita, also now available in a few local grocery stores. The traditional hummus with a smooth and creamy texture has just the right blend of garlic, cayenne, and a hint of lemon. Rumor is that in preparing the garbanzos, they parboil and soak them to remove the husk from the beans. This a smoother feel in the mouth. Whatever they do, they have spoiled me and I avoid hummus if not from Perfect Pita. While dining at the location near Bailey's Crossroads, I enjoy tearing off chunks of the warm pita bread, also unique to the local chain and dipping away. Their gyros are a work of art. The pita is baked so that is is a pocket that holds any of the traditional beef and lamb or grilled chicken main attractions along with, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and their also fabulous tzitzi sauce. The pocket design holds the "sandwich"together much better than a folded-in-half piece of flat bread found everywhere else. And while you're there, do not forget about desert amongst several selections from homemade cookies and slices of cake, to baklava, my absolute favorite is there rice pudding. A wonderful custard texture with just the right amount of rice, this is truly the best rice pudding I have ever had. The only problem I see with it is that it only comes in an 8 ounce size when a quart or half gallon size would be more to my liking. The Perfect Pita is a great place for a delicious, healthy, quick bite for breakfast or lunch and offers dine-in and take out. Lunch time can get crazy at the Skyline Office Complex location but a call ahead order let's you skip the line which I have seen snake around and out the door! I finally went to The Perfect Pita today. It was always too crowded, and now I know why. First off, the workers were very friendly and the service was fast. I was eyeing all the other things you could get besides the pita - veggies, cookies, baklava, etc. I got the hummus pita sandwich. The pita was good, the hummus was fantastic, and the letuce and tomato was just a good combination. It was the perfect sized lunch. My friend got the stromboli and thought it was really good too. Certainly enjoyed my falafel hummus pita here as it was huge for the price considering the area. Falafels were still crispy 10 minutes later when I took it home and the greens added additional tasty roughage. Long line but the service went quick. As fast food goes it's not bad, but hardly perfect. They have a very good vegetarian bean soup, but have been out of it sometimes. Their hummus is not worthwhile; you can get better hummus at a store for cheaper (and at Quattro Formaggi, oddly enough). The actual pitas are fine, the fillings are fine, some vegetarian choices there. It gets crowded at lunch so ordering ahead may be wise. There are a fair number of outdoor tables nearby, so even though this is a takeout place you can eat right there, weather permitting. read more

Pretty good place for a quick bite to eat. I usually order the Pepperoni Pizza w/ hummus on the side. The pizza is a little greasy but it tastes great when you dip it in the hummus. And given the location that it's at, there is no place to sit nearby. This is a problem actually, because if you're just wanting to a quick bite, and do not work in the nearby offices or even live close by, you're pretty much left with having to find a make-shift place to sit and eat. If you want a huge pita sandwich loaded with hummus, fatty meat, cheese, and sauces, then Perfect Pita is the perfect lunch. As a 190lb man that bikes 11 miles each way to work, I find The Perfect Pita to be satisfying and delicious lunch that probably doesn't help my blood pressure. Going to Perfect Pita is getting a Perfect Lunch! I love this place! It's close to my work, and it is nice to have a healthy, somewhat inexpensive alternative to Whole Foods (aka whole paycheck). The place is always busy but they are pretty fast. They have an extensive menu with something for every taste. I always get the Hummus Veggie, which comes with a huge dollop of their delicious homemade hummus and assorted vegetables (sort of obvious, I know). I'm not usually a veggie sandwich person, but I'm telling you, you don't even miss the meat! And unlike the other locations I have read on here, they do take credit cards. OK, any place where I can buy a Falafel AND Mama Zuma chips gets an automatic 4 stars. Seriously, I can't get enough of those chips, I can barely taste anything after I eat them, but any bag of chips with a warning on 'em receives a big orange star from me. I'd actually consider 5, but I had one bad experience here where the lady behind the counter misheard my friend who had ordered tuna, and received turkey. The lady then preceded to yell at my friend to "speak up if she wants to get the right thing." However, it was an isolated incident and and I was too hungry to care. There's a ton to choose from here, I usually go with the Falafel, but they also have a fun "Mediterranean Sampler" salad with tabouli, hummus, and white bean salad on mixed greens. Plus all their salads come with a pita, obviously. And of course there's all the obvious you would expect to find: gyros, chicken and cheese, etc. The tzatziki comes on the side, which is good, because I feel at some pita places you feel like you're eating a straight up tzatziki sandwich, which is a annoying. read more

I work very close to Perfect Pita and visit there at least once a week. The plain hummus is spectacular. They've added some red pepper to the mix which gives it a great taste and with a slight bite. I highly recommend - big difference between here and the pre-packaged hummus. There are varieties (garlic, etc.) but I've only tried the standard hummus. $3.49 for a small, $5.99 for a large. You'll always get it with a pita included. The pitas come in white or wheat and always fresh. Other things to try, "Mediterranian Sampler" which tahini, hummus an bean salad served with a pita. So good, for about $6. I've had a breakfast sandwich, too. And the coffee isn't bad either. Also, try the backlava, the honey just soaks into your mouth - there are no words!!! I've also had the greek yogurt. You won't find this to be as thick as some of what you'll find in the stores, but seems home-made. I love this store. There's no place to sit and eat inside this place, but, in warmer weather, there's an office park nearby with seating and a park across the street. Don't expect warm & fuzzies here. The service is courteous, but not super friendly - all business - no issues (the owner - think soup N@zi from Sienfield). When I'm walking around on king and I want good food that's not greasy - PP good food that is - Five guys ;) I'm not sure what they do about seating in the winter but in the spring summer and fall I like to stroll down to PP, get a gyro or two, and sit in that little courtyard right in front of their place or at the bit colonial hat wire structure a block down. ( I didn't realize it was a hat for about 2 years) food will fill you up and it's about 8 bucks and really quick. easy to grab it to go and bring it back to your desk. Step 1: Order the boardwalk, and ask for Mayo instead of Oil and Vinegar. Step 2: Return to your home or office, and open your sandwich, to smell oil and vinegar. Step 3: Eat it angrily, and hope they won't do it again. The problem is they pre-make the sandwich with oil and vinegar, and scrape it off when you ask for mayo. Perfect Pita is perfect for that mid day bite to eat when you want a modest healthy lunch. I have had 4 or 5 of the signature menu pitas and must say that I prefer the chicken Caesar the best. But it is hard to pass up any pita with hummus. Bonus are the sea salt Route 55 chips. Prices are reasonable and service is friendly and fast. The pizza was actually pretty decent for a base-price of $5. The crust was crispy, there was plenty of cheese, and they actually put whole pieces of bacon on the pie (not just crumbles) - awesome! The sauce/cheese/crust could use some sort of seasoning though as it is otherwise fairly plain. To wrap up, it would be nice if they offered indoor seating in the event that you did not have an office/home to retreat to with your meal when the outdoors are inhospitable... Also, I distinctly remember the staff as being just 'meh'. The perfect pita is not so perfect. Guess it wouldn't draw a line of customers if were called the decent pita. It's a good alternative to subway. It's two minutes from my work and the long line moves fast. The falafel is just okay. I like mine to come in balls of crispiness and not flat softened patties. Still it's fresh and comes with a ramekin of tzaziki: cool, light, refreshing with chunks of cucumbers. Price is decent (~$6). Add another $2.49 and you get your choice of gourmet flavored route 11 kettle chips and a drink. Only outdoor seating available; thank goodness for the tall buildings that protect you from the heat of the sun and tunnels a little breeze.
