Extremely disappointed about my visit here the other day. I typically stray away from writing bad reviews, but this was honestly one of the worst visits I've experienced with a food service. Came in, the same time as another couple - who were helped immediately. After they were taken care of, the employee on the line started to do strictly online orders and did not communicate anything to my boyfriend or I. We stood there over 20 minutes patiently waiting. After waiting for a long period of time, the employee decided to help me. Immediately after he helped me, he started doing online orders again without helping my boyfriend. I waited another ten minutes with my food just sitting there to-go and my boyfriend still waiting to be helped. There was no communication, and clearly no value for our time. In addition, there was another employee at the register who just stood there, as the other employee did online orders, and we remained neglected. We then went to our regular location (on Congress, highly recommended to ALL) where we were greeted, helped right away, and taken care of. Management, training is evidently lacking here. Please train/retrain your employees to value customers and effectively communicate if there's going to be a delay. read more

The build your own greens and grains bowl is my go-to. I usually get the kale mix with black lentils and brown rice and chicken as my protein. The food is always fresh and I've never left disappointed. The pita chips are amazing, especially when the chips are made to order. I was immediately greeted when walking inside. I ordered a bowl for "here" with a complimentary pita. This place is great if you're in the mood for Mediterranean. The chicken is so good. So is the lamb. The set up is a chipotle style, where you choose what to add to your bowl or wrap. Also, they have amazing and refreshing craft drinks. I love Cava!! I love all the options to customize the bowl and it's a lot of food for $10. I appreciated that they put a sizable amount of meat compared to other bowl places like Chipotle. There are a lot of flavors and you can also make it spicy based on what sauces you get. I also love the pita on the side and that they serve sparkling water! This is essentially a build your bowl type of place. Rice or salad or a combo of both. Next you pick a protein.. meat balls and grilled chicken. Steak wasn't an option. Then you pick dips.. lots to choose from but honestly I didn't really understand what I would be dipping. Then you pick veggies to put on it. Then more sauce. I was kind of shocked at the price since it's basically a rice bowl.. they don't load you up on meat like Panda Cafe, I got 5 small meatballs, like Swedish size. It's was ok tasting but not really great, maybe if I used the dips properly? I don't really know... but my self and my wife getting a bowl with 2 drinks was almost 30.00.. LOL what? Really good food, atmosphere and service. You got people coming to check up on you to make sure you enjoy your meal, colorful modern vibe and plentiful, flavorful portions make CAVA a winner. I got a brown rice bowl with some spinach, beef meatballs, eggplant, red pepper hummus, pita chips, yogurt dill dressing, tomatoes, pickled onions and tabboulah. There's definitely some lemon action going on somewhere there but everything is well seasoned with bright vibrant flavors. The beef meatballs are little flavor nuggets - enjoy them when you bite into them as there's not too many - my only small gripe being I wish you got more than 4. It's fresh, fast, filling. My only other concern about this place is price next to UT. I definitely think its worth it as you'll feel better after eating here and the food is well worth the price, but just don't know if the price is right for college students. read more

Portions are not the biggest but there are so many options you can add to make it a big bowl so it is definitely worth it! Lots of add ons and multiple protein options. You can also pick up to 3 sauces which they are generous with. You also get a courtesy pita bread! I got a half salad and half grain bowl and it was great! The food is AMAZING (if they have what you want). If you go anytime around dinner, half the stuff is gone so you have to go for lunch if you're wanting to try it. I got an online gift card from CAVA which gets uploaded to the online account. Only one person out of the 7 times I have went could figure out how to use it. All the others said it didn't work and I needed to pay with my card. One guy even scanned the gift card then proceeded to make me pay with my card and the $12 got taken out of both my gift card balance and my debit card. If they are going to do gift cards through their app, at-least train the workers to use it correctly. I haven't been back since because it's the same thing every time, but I have a gift card that's just sitting with money on it. Hoping they figure it out soon. read more

had a quick lunch with a friend here a couple of weeks ago and was surprised at how good the fast casual Mediterranean food was. The service was friendly and patient, explaining to me the differences in sauce as I was a first time visitor. The only thing that surprised me was the condition of the their patio seating. It was a beautiful day out and several groups were sitting outside but almost every table was covered in bird poop. Not Appetizing. We ended up moving inside and it was fine. I stared at their sweaty brows as they filled order after order for online delivery services before me. Some lady with an undershave haircut had a sweat stained mask that barely fit her heaving mouth and it sat sadly below her flaring nostrils while she pumped out harissa bowl after harissa bowl. It could be possible they rehydrate the lemon herb tahini with employee tears, because everyone in this place looks sad, tired, and overworked. Doesn't feel very clean either. You want RiteRice? I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food this place offers. To start, the salad greens were impressive. They have their bases covered with the standard mixed greens, spinach and romaine. In addition to this, they offer "splendid greens," a mix containing romaine, escarole, chicory endive, belgian endive, and radicchio, and "super greens," shredded kale, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage & chicory. I got a mix of the two types of "greens," and the added flavor and texture really went a long way toward making my salad super delicious. Their eggplant dip was tasty and edible. My experience with middle eastern food in Austin has unfortunately been less than satisfactory. Whenever I order eggplant dip / baba ghanoush type stuff it usually ends up being a gloopy mayo nightmare where the eggplant is hardly discernible. Not the case at Cava. They offer lamb! I looove lamb. It's braised in liquid so the texture is kind of wet, but it was pleasant overall. The flavor was good. Really good portion too. Usually these build it yourself places can be kind of skimpy with their red meat, but Cava gets me. The vegetable selection was really nice. Everything was super fresh. The fresno peppers were tasty. They offered quite a few dressings as well. Between all the choices of greens, dips, meats, veggies and sauces, I am sure you can come up with quite a few tasty combinations. My salad was delicious, and it was really healthy too. They have a great nutrition calculator. I'll be making this a weekly lunch for the foreseeable future. read more

Drove from San Antonio for this place! We enjoyed them a lot when we lived in DC and have been really missing their fresh and delicious food. My younger sister came into town, and knowing this place was her fave, and she can no longer get it having moved from DC to Utah, we took an afternoon to brave the i35 traffic to explore Austin and enjoy a yummy meal here. We were able to easily find street parking at about 5pm on a Saturday. The employees were super friendly and happy to give us suggestions as it has been about 3 years since I've been to a Cava and it was my hubbies first time. If you haven't been, think a much fresher, Mediterranean version of Chipotle, where you pick your base and toppings and dressings. My hubby got the braised lamb which was incredible, I wished I had gotten that! But the chicken was really good too. The food is so fresh and flavorful, you really can't go wrong. My hubby was worried that it wouldn't be filling, but thankfully he was stuffed! I could barely finish all of mine. I go to cava all the time however this location absolutely sucks. They up charge you for everything. They barely gave me any rice and I asked for a little bit more and I was charged for what I should have already received. I usually spend around $23 for the near by locations. I ordered the exact same thing and it was $30 with no drinks, double meat, or any extra priced topics like avocado. I don't recommend this location go to the other ones near by they aren't as stingy with toppings and it will save you money. read more

This place is my new favorite. Like Chipotle is now my #2. It's the same concept but with SO many options and so fresh. I had no idea what to get when I first got there but scarfed the entire thing down in 8 minutes it was SO good. It's healthy without sacrificing substance or flavor. Beware that close to campus it will take a good amount of time to get through the line because it's typically packed with UT students. I recommend going to a different location or ordering ahead of you are short on time! read more

This format is great if you're in a huge hurry and want something healthy-ish. But cava is an example of the whole chipotle-ification concept taken too far. Yeah its quick, and yeah its not as gross as burger and fries, but Mediterranean food in general offers more variety then you can get a cava. read more

4.25 stars. Sometimes you forget how much something means to you. In more conscientious circles, it might be a cause that used to fill your heart. In most cases, it's probably a significant other whose presence is unexpectedly brought back to your focus. In my case, it's simply a fast food Mediterranean restaurant that I used to frequent on the outskirts of Washington DC. Thankfully, my nostalgic experience is a happy one. The CAVA brand hails from Rockville, Maryland. They have a flagship store but set up a number of branches throughout Washington DC and surrounding areas. In some cases, these stores are "Cava Mezze" which is more like a standard restaurant and in other cases, it is "CAVA" which is more of the fast food concept. Austin has the fast food concept, and just like the wonderful concept back home, we have a winner. As a former regular, I'll say that pretty much every level of customization works, but the meat you should choose is the braised lamb. Just go in expecting to forego that extra $1.25 because it is definitely worth the upcharge. The meat is deliciously savory and at its best the strands of lamb almost melt in your mouth. All of the veggies and sauces are great, and my favorite dips are probably the eggplant (baba ghanouj), "crazy" feta, and the harissa. The eggplant has good consitency, the feta tasted like an improvement on the cheese, and the harissa is smoky and subtly spicy. But seriously, customize as much as you can. Also, the lavender water is really good if you decide to get a drink. It's great to see a local brand doing well in the Hill Country. Perhaps we can get Cava's dips into our Whole Foods as well just like we do on the East Coast? I don't want to ask too much, but this one surprise that was thankfully of the pleasant variety. read more

Fresh, fast, healthy, and delicious - for once, I feel good about eating out. The serving portion is so big that it's definitely worth the $10. One bowl is basically two servings for me. LOVE THIS PLACE. I wish they had a Cava back in my hometown of Dallas, but regardless, I recommend this place for anyone that's a fan of the Chipotle-style of serving. Personally, I've always thought Chipotle was a little bland and overrated, so coming to Cava was a great experience for me. The options are delicious and healthy, and there's so much variety.
