Very nice gentlemen serving us up this middle eastern lunch. We all got variations of the "protein over rice" plates, and it cost about $12 for each. Plates came with tri-colored rice (a nice touch), salad, and meat. Then over the top they squirt on a somewhat excessive amount of white sauce (assuming tahini garlic) and then a layer of spicy red sauce if you so desire. The taste was decent, but it was quite heavy. Nobody came close to finishing their plates, and it did not leave any of us with a great feeling in the belly haha. If I were to come here again, I would definitely ask for the sauces on the side! With that said, the truck is in a hopping location, and the small outdoor seating section was nice. 5/10 overall! read more

The Gyro over Rice was incredible. Never had one like it before. We think we were given the beef over rice by mistake? It had small pieces of meat that had a very familiar South Asian taste...seasoned like a very specific beef dish where the meat is cooked until dried out but moist at the same time. The sauce was very different from the usual over rice places. It had some yellow and white sauce but no red (hot) sauce. So Gyro or beef, whichever one it was, it was delicious! We will order 1 gyro and 1 beef next time to see what the difference is! The Zinger over Rice was good too. It had big pieces of crusted chicken. It needed more sauce though as it became quite dry towards the end. This sauce also felt different than the one on the other dish. It was some light yellow sauce i have not seen before. Really interesting flavors for both! We ordered via GrubHub so prices are inflated at 12.99 per dish. $26 dollars is a bit much for the portions that were given. The food was not packed to the fullest, we had no leftovers and still were kinda hungry. At other over rice places, we usually have 20% leftover at around the same price. Per the website, actual prices are $10.99 per dish which is reasonably better but still should be cheaper considering the portions. read more

I've always wanted to go to this food truck in West Campus with its fun flashing lights at night. I had the gyro over rice and really enjoyed it. They gave a good amount of sauce, and it wasn't like other similar places I've tried where you need lots of sauce to balance out the dryness of the food. The wait time was very short. They have a couple of covered benches and tables, although it's right next to a busy sidewalk and street. I love this place! Ordered the Falafel sub, and it was a really good size for being $8. It didn't actually come in a sub, it was a wrap, which to me was better. And it tasted amazing - the falafels were fried so they're nice and crispy on the outside and were very flavorful. Inside was salad, tomatoes, purple onions, and some sauce. I got the "spicy" level but it wasn't spicy at all. I asked for extra sauce after I took this picture because I think it needed a bit more, and the sauce was delicious!! The owners were really nice too - not only for giving me an extra little side of sauce, but my friend had ordered the fresh peach smoothie, and one of the owners also gave me a little sample of it. And now they add black olives to their salads (nice addition!). You'll hear this food truck before you see it, but you definitely won't miss it. Recently opened, Alpetra is the food truck version of a personal favorite, Halal Bros, so I had to try it. I ordered a chicken over rice ($8) and was pleased to have a hot dish served in under 5 minutes. At first glance, the dish was very similar to Halal Bros: Meat on top of rice with an assortment of veggies on the side. However, the taste is quite distinct, with the sauce having almost a smoky cheesy taste to it. Pretty good actually. The portion size is excellent for the price. Overall: Amazing service, spectacular food, great portions, and a welcoming atmosphere. This food truck is owned by a family and I feel like every time I go I feel welcomed. There is no other food truck with this level of service, not to mention the excellent food. There is always music playing and there are tables covered by a tarp, so it is easy to stay there and eat or take your food to go. I got the falafel with regular sauce and it was to die for. Many people like Halal Bros but I personally prefer ALPETRA. Their falafel has a bunch of flavor and doesn't feel too dry or too soft, unlike other falafel I have had from restaurants/food trucks.
