You do not get what you pay for in regards to portion/serving size. They are very stingy when they serve--something exclusive to Austin cava locations. I have been to other locations in other states and the portions are always much larger and actually fair for what you pay for. Not sure why Austin Cava locations serve so little for the amount you pay for. I would recommend Flower Child or even Fresh Market if you want to get your moneys worth. Today we tried Cava for the first time, and I must say, we were not disappointed. I'd compare this to Freebirds but with Mediterranean flavors and sauces. I have been ordering from CAVA for a while now and have no complaints about the food or service. However, on the last 3 occasions, I have been observing that the "pita chips" I order arrives as a plain pita. That, to me is unacceptable. I have not been dining in due to COVID and am not always able to check my order curbside but I do expect to get precisely what I order. That is the reason for my OK rating. read more

I love Greek and Mediterranean food, and I love the idea of building my own meal, so CAVA is perfect! I chose a grain bowl with saffron basmati rice with lamb meatballs as my protein. I added red pepper hummus, crazy feta, and tzatziki, and topped it off with lettuce, tomato and cucumbers, feta, pickled onions, and tomato and onion salad, with a drizzle of yogurt dill. I also had a pita on the side. Looking back, my to go bowl could have been filled more. Next time I'll add more toppings to maximize flavor and optimize my bowl. I'll also add some pita crisps because they're free! Lamb meatballs cost a little extra, but they were delish. They weren't as spicy as I thought they would be, or as I'd want them to be. The crazy feta was spicier​. It only comes with 4 meatballs, but I think 5 woulda been perfect for me instead of having to ration off my rice to meatball ratio. I appreciate that we could pick 3 dips/spreads. My fave was the crazy feta - jalapeno and feta were​ so creamy. Never would have thought they could be paired up. The yogurt and dill dressing was yummy too. Next time. I think I'll go for the sriracha greek yogurt. I also like how they have seasonal vegetables, toppings, and dressings to choose from to keep it interesting! You also need to get a drink too. Blueberry lavender was really refreshing and not too sweet. The bowl and drink came to $14 which isn't too bad considering I only ate half of it. I've been to this location three times in the first 2 weeks they've been open. The community day which offered free meals to celebrate their opening was run like a well oiled machine, with plenty of staff on hand, and quick turnover on the supply of each ingredient on the line, so nothing ever ran out and the line moved efficiently. On subsequent visits, I have continued to be impressed with the quality of ingredients and the friendly, professional staff. Finding the combos you enjoy is a "to each his/her own" type of culinary adventure. I finally tried the falafel and didn't love that they contain whole chickpeas, but the flavor was still good. If you don't like the idea of having blobs of several dips on a salad, then skip those or get a grain bowl! I've been using the app as well to earn rewards, which seems to work best at the moment for ordering takeout. It's easy on the app to do half and half splits of ingredients, or double tap on toppings to get more. It also gives you a running calorie total of what you put together. Cava isn't exactly cheap, but for a high quality, nutritious and filling meal, it's become a welcome addition to the neighborhood! read more

The biggest crime Cava has commited is existing for so long without my knowledge. I used to love Noon Mediterranean. It was bought out, and the new place was just ok, but I still went. When it shut down, there was a deep, dark hole on my life where fast Mediterranean with lots of salads was supposed to go. Tino's filled in a little bit of the hole but wasn't the same. Then the Tino's on Anderson shut down, too. There was no fast Mediterranean in my life for a little bit. *Cue the violins.* Little did I know that Cava existed the whole time!!! It was there when Noon was still there, and everyone loved it, and nobody told me! More recently, I would drive by this location every time I picked my kids up from school and had no idea what it was! Then I got an ad in my email and discovered the truth about Cava and couldn't wait to go. And I wasn't disappointed! Now I have no choice but to eat here about once a week. The best thing about Cava that every Mediterranean restaurant should take note of is that they let you have all the things! All of them! All the dips, sauces, bases, and salads you could want. I guess there are limits, but very generous limits. The worst is when you have some meat and veggies to make a healthy lunch, and you want to add some hummus or babaganouj, but you have to buy a whole appetizer to get it. Not here! And it's all delicious! Everyone I talk to loves Cava for a good reason. The meats and dips and everything are so tasty. And I can eat almost all of it! There's a lot I can't eat, but Mediterranean is usually a good option for me. But you never know. Next, I have to talk about this location. Everyone here is so friendly and patient and helpful! We usually come when it's not busy, so I'm sure that doesn't hurt. But I can't say enough good things about the staff here. I do have a couple criticisms, but they don't detract from the 5 stars: First, while I am glad I can eat almost everything Cava has to offer despite my many food intolerances, it is odd that they put wheat and soy in their falafel. Falafel should not have wheat. I don't think I had ever met a falafel I couldn't eat until I came here. I would love if they had falafel I could eat. Second, what they call "lentil tabouli" is not even close to tabouli. Tabouli is a parsley salad. It has tons of parsley, tomatoes, cucumber, lemon juice, some other stuff. The traditional version has cracked wheat, but that could certainly be replaced by lentils or quinoa. Cava's "tabouli" is just lentils with some dill or something. I have no idea how they decided to call it tabouli. I would love if they actually had tabouli made with lentils. Sadly, my boys' school is moving in a couple months, and we'll have to find another favorite Cava location. Until then, I will continue to obtain my weekly Cava. read more

This place is great!! Restaurants in Westlake are finally getting better. This is casual dining but in a sleek modern setting. Healthy Mediterranean style food. Order at the counter and choose your items cafeteria style. Option are pita, salad, grain bowl or greens and grain bowl. Pick your protein and toppings. Twist: all come with dipping sauces and bowls include piece of pita. Staff was super friendly and answered my questions since they have only been open about a month. Everything was fresh and tasty. Decent portion size, I ordered mine in a to-go bowl since I knew I'd take some home. I got greens and grain bowl with spicy lamb meatballs spinach brown rice, tomato mix, olives, hummus, flavor d hummus and yogurt dip. Came to $9.37 A little pricey for lunch but not too much. You can get a mini pita for under $5. read more

Cava is my current go to spot in Austin. I was hooked onto Chipotle and Noon until I ate here. The ingredients are fresh, locally sourced/ produced, quantities are generous as well. I usually go for the super greens salad bowl with chicken.its always fun to experiment with their dips and spreads -harissa and crazy feta are my constant. For protein I also recommend braised lamb as I've tasted some from my friends and it's delicious, tender and juicy. You can taste the dressings before it goes into your bowl, just ask them! Lemon herb tahini and Greek vinaigrette are my personal favorites. I recommend this place 100 percent for a healthy, generous and quick meal. read more

I was at the new Summer Moon to get some work done and was bummed to find out they were all out of Tacodeli. I did a quick Yelp search and found CAVA in the same plaza. For convenience sake, I placed an online order and walked over to grab my lunch when it was time for a break. The restaurant is super clean and the staff was friendly! As soon as I opened my bowl, I knew I'd be devouring my lunch. The ingredients are tasty, the bowl was filled to the top and the Crazy Feta was delicious. I did a 1/2 roasted veggie 1/2 meatball for my bowl but was only given 3 meatballs. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't constitute as half, but at least they filled the bowl with a ton of veggies. Went into this location and saw 2 employees with face masks not covering their noses. There is no point in wearing one if its not covering the nose. Does nothing but entertain "safety". We turned around and left. We love eating at Cava, however do not appreciate the carelessness shown with simply not putting any kind of covering over the nose as they're preparing food for people to eat during a pandemic. It has been said everywhere several times to do so no matter what one believes in. How much more a food establishment. Will be taking our business to a different location. Came in last night to have dinner with my husband and children and it was an absolute disaster. Every time I come into this store it is dreadfully understaffed. We planned on dining in but after seeing the state of the restaurant, we decided to take out meals elsewhere. The employees look so miserable here. I feel incredibly bad for them as whoever is making their schedule doesn't know what they're doing and needs to be FIRED ASAP. Don't understand how they are ALWAYS understaffed every time I visit. Up until tonight I have really loved Cava. There have been a lot of cost cutting measures that are impossible to miss lately, but I still liked it. Sure the greens I like have slowly become nothing more than the stems of kale and brussel sprouts - not a leaf in sight. The choices of toppings have been pared down so much that your choices are now just cucumbers OR tomatoes mixed with cucumbers. And the chicken sometimes looks more like mystery meat and has too many chewy bits to be called decent. And the line is normally out the door because at least at this poorly managed location they insist on filling online orders first and don't work on helping those in line at all. But it's close to my house, I can tell myself it is healthy, and I do love that crazy feta. But tonight I saw how the sausage is made, and I can't get it out of my mind. Tonight we somehow scored and walked in where there was no line. None. But none of the 4 employees made a move to take our order when we got to the counter. We just stood there. And as we stood there we got to watch a woman that I believe was the manager wipe down the counter with a dirty rag. I mean filthy. Drippy, soaked different colors in spots with clumps of stuff stuck to it. She just kept wiping the counter in front of the spreads over and over until the entire counter had a sheen of crazy feta and hummus on it. Then she takes the same disgusting rags and starts flicking it all around the containers holding the grains. There are little bits of stuff flying in to the rice and lentils (wait, are those lentils, I now have to wonder!). She's scraping stuff off the counter with this rag, but making no move to scoop it into a garbage can or her hand. These chunks of rice and beans now coated in the slime from the rag and the clumps from the spreads are all flying around into all of the containers and onto the plates! She is literally flicking garbage off of the plates and continuing this gross display. As one of the employees comes to the front of the line with a stack of take out orders my husband asks if they can help us, since we have been there for several minutes, before they start on those orders. The manager with the rag filled with food poisoning says she has to finish cleaning the counters first. Ahh, she thought she was cleaning. I thought that was the special sauce. Regardless, I told my husband I lost my appetite and we left. None of the rude employees ever acknowledged us. Happy ending: we decided to give Poke House a try. We have had poke many times, but haven't been to Poke House before. It was great! The employees were super friendly, greeting us when we came in and helping us with our order (you know, like restaurant employees normally treat paying customers). And they were super nice walking us through the many choices of poke, sauces and toppings galore. Dinner was delicious, healthy and served with a smile. And when I need motivation to not eat something fattening, I can just remember my experience at Cava. Absolutely nauseating. read more

I love the food here but the service is not great at this location. Every time I order online they get something wrong. I don't know what it is. Theyve forgotten toppings, the pita, sides, and last night I had only ONE falafel in my bowl instead of the full four thats supposed to come with the order. My boyfriend got a bowl that had one topping on it when he chose six. I'm not sure if its because they start the bowls and then forget to finish them before packing them up? Its confusing how it happens so frequently. Every time the order receipt says exactly what we ordered so I know its not a technical issue where we personally forgot to add something or they don't see it. I really love the online ordering feature and I know its a big adjustment to streamline that with COVID.
