My best friend and I have been coming here for well over a year. We come every time I'm in Jersey City (so maybe twice a month on average, weather pernitting.) I've (we've) never had a bad experience. Some days the food is better than others, but it's always great. I would be nitpicky to complain about the pita chips not being garlicky enough some days, but whatever. They're always good. Anyway, the store is always clean, the food is always fresh and the service is always nice. There is a worker there, I think her name is Kimberly, who I swear is ALWAYS smiling. People may not think much of such subtleties, but I, too work in customer service and I will say it does mean a lot. It's nice to see. The staff seems very professional. All are always working and working well together. Communicating, even have friendly banter with one another. They look like they like working here, and for me, it's plesant to see. Food is usually very good and I would give it a 5 star but I just got an order today for takeout and when I tried a bite, I was getting hard pieces. I took it out and it was uncooked brown rice a bunch of them too, not just from that bite. This ruined my experience. There's definitely something to be said for a fresh, healthy fast food alternative but I can't help but wonder whether Cava is just Starbucks with Kale.... as the emphasis here is clearly on mixing and matching your own bowls ad infinitum creating gridlock for the staff who must concoct these ever expanding creations according to your creative wanderlust. Don't get me wrong the designer plankton is tasty but the wait is another thing entirely. Four stars for the high quality lunch that doesn't really work if you're in a hurry. read more

This is a good cava they dont skimp on the extras that you literally pay for which I have had happen at a few other locations. The staff here are actually nice and seem to enjoy working there. After a truly awful experience at the Chipotle next door, Cava was a breath of fresh air. Yes, it's pricey, but the food quality lived up to my expectations for the chain. I'd recommend it, though I do think the vegetarian options should be priced slightly lower than the meat dishes. It doesn't make much sense for them to be the same price when the ingredients for the veg bowls are clearly less expensive. They didn't think emts/paramedics were first responders and didn't deserve a discount based on their belief ( literally the definition of a first responder) I messaged them about it and they gave a vague response . few days ago my friend got me some Cava and I decided to give them a 2nd chance . Oh what a delight The person behind the corner can see the shear confusion and overwhelm written all over my face. As I'd never been there before. He welcomed me, and told me I didn't have to rush. I opted for a pita, w/ red pepper hummus, white rice, roasted veggies and grilled chicken, tomatoes and cucumbers, corn, and red onion. I absolutely adore CAVA, but I had not been near one in quite some time, so when I happened to be by this Jersey City shop, I eagerly went in for lunch. The place was bustling, with a line around the restaurant and many of the tables already taken. The crowd was making me a bit anxious, so I was thrilled to see that there were free outdoor tables a block over, near the water. I decided to get my meal to go and grab a seat where I could enjoy the warm weather and gorgeous view. I wound up building my own salad containing Super Greens, 3 dips (traditional hummus, roasted eggplant, red pepper hummus), a split of a "protein" portion into half grilled chicken and half roasted vegetables, a slew of the unlimited toppings (fiery broccoli, tomato and cucumber salad, fire-roasted corn, and kalamata olives), and a side order of the yogurt dill dressing. Aside from the roasted vegetables being a little overdone, the hefty bowl was really delicious and well worth the price. The ease and precision of compiling the ingredients was also a benefit. Ordered takeout: Built my own salad bowl to go with the Mi Nina Tortilla Chips I had at home since I am not a fan of the overly salted, dense, and oily pita chips that Cava offers. The salad bowl I built had half grilled chicken, half lamb meatballs, and added harrisa bbq chicken. The greens were a mix of splendid and super greens. Added in topping of fiery corn, broccoli, picked onion, and tomato and cucumbers. For dips, I chose harissa, eggplant dip, and crazy feta. And for dressing on the side, my two picks were Balsamic Date Vinaigrette and Yogurt Dill. The bowl was great but serving size was lesser than the price it came at. The dips were also of very less quantity, and the fiery corn and broccoli was little to none. I paid extra for extra protein but felt its absence tremendously. Still giving this a 4/5 because the taste was there, the seasoning was great, and the quality of what I did receive was mention-worthy. Only wish it was better value for money! read more

In the never ending search to eat something healthy that tastes good CAVA gets it right. I've had CAVA in the past and I was pretty amazed that not only was it tasty but it was filling too. The portions are a good size, I've been known to have a pretty good appetite and i was full when I was done. This visit I got the greens and grain bowl with braised pork and numerous toppings. The pork was very good and I always get the tzatziki sauce which is very good. Also can recommend the yogurt dill dressing. The service here has is always polite and helpful. The price is about what you would expect. Inside is modern and clean and you put together your salad in a very efficient conveyor belt like manner. The only problem here is the parking. It's downtown jersey City so it's always an issue. Just be prepared if your driving. If your looking to eat healthy this is a good choice. read more

Wow what a nice spot. I was walking to Dunkin' but my attention turned to Cava. I walked in and I was greeted by 2 employees. I've never been here and I'm new to the area. They were very patient with me, cause I wasn't sure what I wanted. I went with the sweet and spicy chicken pita. It was delicious! Everything was fresh as I watched the continuously adding fresh chicken and veggies.
