I love all the Cava locations. I feel like franchise promotes good vibes and employees to be friendly and mellow. I will say though, on a cold night they may need to add some heaters because the draft from the door is real! CAVA works well if you're contemplating something salad-adjacent but more interesting than lettuce. I might not be the target audience for the bowl genre but I feel that the ingredients can sometimes blur together and become indistinct. For example, I got the lamb and feta bowl and I got nostalgic for the grander feta options available elsewhere, and the lamb this time didn't as work as well the lamb meatballs on a prior trip. Next time I might try a DIY combo; a few minutes of research (at home so I don't hold up the line) would be just as productive as my hour-long deliberations over what to get from Uber Eats. I ordered from Cava for the first time using the app. It was pretty simple and I was able to choose a bunch of different toppings for no extra cost. The pickup process was easy - I just had to enter the restaurant, and find the bag with my name on it. The bowl itself was very saucy, I wish there was an option if you are getting two sauces to adjust the amount (it defaulted to the same amounts). The contents of the bowl was a little bit small despite the amount of toppings selected. And my boyfriend's bowl had the part of the greens that you typically don't eat which was not very pleasant. Overall, this is a very quick easy option for a day when we're too busy to cook dinner, so we will probably be back. read more

I placed an order on the Cava website and when the order arrived all of the bowls were opened. Cava placed 3 salads on top of one another and topped it off with the rice bowl which was too heavy and caused all the bowls to topple over!! I called Cava and spoke to Susanna. The meals here are essentially build-your-own salad or grain bowls with a variety of Mediterranean-style toppings, proteins, dips, and dressings. There's a nice variety to allow you to mix it up each time; if you like spicy, try the harissa and crazy feta spreads, or if you like something milder, the tzatziki and red pepper hummus are my usual go-tos. Note that if you decide on the falafel or the meatballs, you'll only get four of them, so if you're craving some more protein I'd recommend the grilled chicken or the braised lamb. If you're pressed for time, ordering off the CAVA app is a convenient option to grab and go, especially during busy weekday lunch hours. The few times I've done it I've had no issues with my order. Filling and under $10? Hard to find such a great deal in this area. It's easy to customize your bowl and order for pick up. I got a grain bowl with chicken as my meat and the only topping of lettuce. And boy was it enough! The rice is already flavored so I didn't feel the need to any other sauces or toppings (though don't let that stop you from going crazy with the FREE unlimited toppings). I visited this place around 12 in the afternoon and I had to wait a while in line since it was mildly crowded. It seems to be a really popular place for surrounding business people or anyone who wants a healthy meal! It kinds of works like a Chipotle assembly line, CAVA actually reminds me of a Mediterranean version of Corelife eatery (refer to my other review about Core). I ordered a grain and green bowl with the supergreens and red lentils. I got falafel as the protein with hummus, red harissa, and eggplant with red pepper, I also got all the toppings but the fetal and topped off my bowl with green harissa. I also got the Ginger Lime Turmeric Tonic. They have plenty of seating, and I think they have chairs for small children as well? Atleast I think that's what I saw towards the front of their store, I guess you'll have to call and check. I liked the salad overall, but I think next time I'll pass on the red and green harissa or ask for less. It was a bit overpowering and the flavors didn't really mix well with the salad. However what I really didn't like was their falafel. It was an interesting texture as they kept some chickpeas whole cooked inside it. I think they were trying to give it more texture, but it just fell apart more easily (which I guess isn't really a concern if it is just getting mixed into a salad). However I wasn't really a fan of the taste at all, it was VERY SALTY. Biting into it was like getting a face full of salt. I'm not sure how the other proteins taste. But please avoid the falafel. But for the price in a popular touristy place filled with businesses, I guess it was okay, it was really filling, but the taste of the falafel still lingered after. read more

I saw an advertisement announcing the opening of the Jersey City location and had to try it out. The place was understaffed but all present were helpful and friendly. I recommend ordering a bowl if you like leftovers. If not, the salad or mini pita is plenty. The spicy lamb and falafel were delish but not spicy at all. I spend my work week on the upper level of Harborside Plaza: with the pop-ups in the food court and food trucks lining the side streets, there isn't exactly a shortage of lunch choices. Cava is still a welcome addition to the area. It's a cliche to refer to a fast casual place offering a customizable meal as "the Chipotle of (insert cuisine)", but it fits. Cava gives diners a combination heavy Mediterranean meal with fresh and tasty ingredients. Choose your base (greens, grains, pita), dips/spreads (hummus, harissa and others), mains (chicken, beef, lamb, roasted veggies), add ins (fresh and pickled veggies and herbs), and a dressing. With a line leading out the door on opening day, I went just before noon on a Saturday and got in and out in minutes with a solid lunch: a bowl of arugula and brown rice topped with a red pepper babaganoush, harissa, and "crazy feta" (their own whipped feta and jalapeno spread), braised shredded lamb, mint, pickled onions, and a tomato and cucumber mix, finally drizzled with lemon herb tahini. The meal isn't cheap (bowls will run about $10, or $2 more if you spring for lamb) and the flavours are a bit muted, but Cava is a great lunch choice. And, with online ordering, you can beat the lines. read more

A much-welcomed healthy option in the Exchange Place area...Chipotle-style (but with Mediterranean food). You choose a base, a protein, and toppings. So far I've only had the grain bowl with basmati rice and falafel which is SO good (there are crunchy pieces of whole chickpeas). Toppings and dips are great too. I've had the tzatziki, hummus (both regular and red pepper), red pepper and eggplant dip, pita crisps, cabbage slaw, tomato and cucumber, and yogurt dill dressing. This is a great spot for a quick meal that's healthy, balanced and fulfilling. I ordered the Harissa Honey Chicken Bowl and it was tasty. The spice was moderate and just enough for me to handle. I also ordered the cucumber mint drink which I'm a fan of. Food was prepared and packed efficiently and quickly. When I visited, the store was out of avocado.
