After a day of airplane food, I was ready for as wide of a variety of fresh vegetables, legumes, and herbs as possible, I felt that a build-your-own bowl Mediterranean-style place would be the easiest way to facilitate that. There are some good things about CAVA. The strong yet not too sweet blueberry lavender drink, for one. The 'splendid greens' mix, for another - not just iceberg and cabbage here! And the eggplant/red pepper dip isn't bad. But the black lentils I chose as my base were so undercooked that every third lentil was like a little rock trying to crack my teeth open, and the spicy lamb meatballs I chose as my protein were lukewarm and kind of gummy, and definitely not spicy. They also far overdo the sauce. You can't expect too too much out of a place that keeps all their ingredients in warmers and tins a la Chipotle, and I didn't, but I did at least expect them to cook their lentils. read more

My first time at Cava. It is a pretty much fast build your meal style establishment. The meals are all under $10. The portions are insanely generous which is perfect. You select your base, protein, dips & toppings. You have plenty to select from. I selected a greens & grains bowl it was surely shareable. My husband had a mini pita and he said it was filling. Staff is efficient, one of the young ladies was very helpful. The location is very clean. Spacious with moderate seating, you have a few window half counter seats on the main level, and more seating on the upper level. Restrooms are clean. Easy, clean eats at a decent price. If you're a bowl person like me, CAVA is the perfect spot to grab a quick bite to eat. Walking in around 3:30 on a Wednesday the place was empty. Since it was my first time at CAVA I glanced at the menu, decided on a bowl, and greeted the server. When I asked how the process worked she stared at me blankly. Alrighty. Customer service is not their strong suit. Similar to Chipotle, CAVA lets you build your own bowling choosing a base, protein, 3 dips, and pretty much unlimited toppings. These bowls are big compared to some of the competition in the area which is fantastic for the price point (under $10). The chicken was juicy and flavorful, although a bit on the cold side. Out of all the spreads, I enjoyed the eggplant and hummus the best. Definitely could've done without the harissa spread which was pretty thick and had a consistency similar to tomato paste. I also wasn't a fan of the greens being placed below the rice. It makes it tough to grab a well balanced bite of protein, rice, and toppings. While I loved the food and space, the customer service could definitely use some work. read more

My 2nd time here, but today i have a bad experience, i order white rice, and the rice container was obviously empty. But the server still try to scoop out all the harden rice that is in the bottom and sticking to the corners. After she clean out the container with the scoop to give me all the un-edible pieces, then she said one moment, and she walk 3 steps away to bring a full container or white rice and fill it in. My question was, weren't you suppose to do that in the first place? After she pours it in, she gave me 1 spoon size of white rice from the now FULL container, when i walk in the store, it was empty, they could have refill it during down time. Long story short, my whole meal was spent chewing on hard rice pieces and picking them out from the mix. It was not edible, hard and chewy. And employee should communicate more, because the system and the selection are not that clear if you are new here. I never had these experience when i go to the dig-inn, chop, chipotle nearby. But when you're $uppprting a business, they're beyond unnecessarily rude? Absolutely unacceptable. And to make matters worse, she's the Manager. Screaming across her sweetheart coworkers "just give him the 5c bag so he can leave" rudely in front of everyone. No excuse for this UNPROFESSIONAL behavior. This was the first person I'd interacted with in the "frontline" and it was a test of my patience to not rip into her in FULL TRINI mode, and cuss her royally for being so abrupt, unfriendly and short w/me! I still don't know how I made it thru all the way to the cashier (who was so sweet), because all I kept thinking is, why is this jackass even working here with this funky attitude?!? I know there's someone above her, hopefully they'll read this and keep things in order, or remove her from interacting/client-facing. I'm not an advocate for canceling or firing her. Just get her in the kitchen or proper training, so she doesn't test someone else's patience. Luckily it's 60° so nothing is disrupting my great mood. Love this place, one of the few places where I can eat on my strict diet. I eat here every weekday for lunch. Pros: healthy choices, order is always correct (online or in person), and always on time. People working there are fast and friendly, place is always busy during lunch and they tear through the crowds quickly and efficiently. Greens are always fresh, grains are always cooked perfectly. Cons: cooking of certain menu items that I really like haven't been consistent recently, particularly the meatballs and most especially the vegetable medley (it's different every day, but used to be consistently perfect until about a month ago). I have been a huge fan of Cava for a while but it is unfortunate to know they do not care about nor take good care of their workers at the Spring St location. I watched three fire trucks show up to the store yesterday, everyone was evacuated to resolve the issue. Next day all of the workers are back in store although the conditions are still not safe. I love this place so much! I always get their chicken bowl. I get their lentils and super greens. I add hummus, harrisa (if you like it spicy) and red pepper hummus. On that some grilled chicken, it's so juicy and so tender and it's spiced so well and tastes delicious. I get all their toppings and they have around 15 of them. I always get garlic sauce for the dressing and they give free pita on the side that's usually warm and fresh. This bowl costs $12 and it's so filling. It's a lot of food for what you pay and it's super healthy. There's always a queue but it moves quickly. For vegetarians I really like their falafel and roasted vegetables half and half for the protein. I can never get bored of this bowl from cava! read more

Came by the Nolita location to pick up my online order on 6/23/22 to pick up my order and as I walked in there were two drivers waiting for food they had a line of like 12 people there. There were 2 people working the like juan an Bladimir. They were very helpful. There was another dark skin skinny young lady with a knee brace walking around doing absolutely nothing but clearly she had an attitude. I heard someone mentioned they had order sitting there for more than 20 minutes instead of her helping them she kept just saying they had to wait and kept on cleaning the back area where online orders are usually made. I had no interaction with her, but the way she was talking to people doesn't look like she is happy at that job. A customer is a customer whether it is present at the store or ordering online and I don't think you should tell your customers that already payed for their food or drivers to wait. If she didn't want to work, she should've been there. This is not the experience that I usually get at night from this place but I will not be coming back. Whoever is in charge of this location should get rid of her and her attitude. And let's not talking about the attitude from the morning staff. There's always a lady that every time she's there she is always complaining and reminding them all she has to do on a daily basis. Honey if you run the place you should be working alongside your team and build team morale and your customer don't need to hear you ranting and complaining that your team does not know how to do thing properly or that you have to do everything yourself, Your team is a reflection of you. I will not be coming back to this location ever nor would I recommend any of my friends to come here unless they want a side of "attitude" and "you got to wait" with their order. This is what you call mediocre service. Someone should take measure to stop this from happening. It's a shame because your food is so good. But who wants good food with a crappy service? But when I'm lazy or short on time to prep a decent healthy meal, I would come here even during the weekdays (non-cheat day) because the foods are actually legit- as in tasty, large portion, and healthy. I'm a health freak currently, don't see myself changing anytime soon, and so I'm ultra careful in where I eat out at, and this place def passes with flying colors on my book. After doing the math, cuz I'm decent at it, there really isn't ANY other places nearby where you can buy such quality warm foods in such affordable prices. I basically load up on all the extra veggies additionals because they are healthy and already included into the final price. What else can you say about the greatest discovery you've made all year and what you sustain yourself with a few times a week when working in the area. This is a salad bar with "Chipotle-style" ordering. First, go with grains/greens, or just greens. Depending on how hungry/healthy you're feeling. You get your choice of greens and rice. Second, pick your "dips" (more like salad pluses as it gets mixed around anyway.) The harissa is quite spicy, all are tasty. Third, protein, I always go with chicken as I did not care for the lamb meatballs. I believe the chicken is more generous portion as well. Fourth, all the toppings other than olives and banana peppers as they overpower the bowl. This is where things are piled on into a huge healthy heap of food. Fifth, dressing on side as this is two meals (and you will feel that when you pick this bowl up) and the dressing make the salad soggy if you attempt to keep it overnight. Depending how wasteful on paper/plastic and annoying you want to be on the staff, get your rice and protein in one container, and then your toppings/salad in another. This creates a hot rice dish with a cold salad side. Otherwise, bowl results in a lukewarm salad/rice mix, although still delicious. read more
