First time coming and there was a line out but it gone down pretty quick. I love how this place is just the Mediterranean version of Chipotle. Custom make your bowls or order what's on the menu. I preferred to custom make mine. Since it was my first time too, they were kind enough to give me a small sample of the meat just to see how the flavor is. I do like how they have many choices of greens to add on as well. My bowl had a mix of greens and rice, two diff. Meat which cost extra since I did get the steak and lamb. I like how there are extra sauces to add on as well. I really liked that hot harissa one too! Should've got extra of that. And I liked the many choices of their fountain drinks and juices. If you want a healthy and quick meal this is your place! There are so many great options (even for vegan/vegetarian people like me!) I built my own bowl with half speed greens and half safaron rice, added tzatziki devil feta and baba ganoush. For protein I got falafel and roasted veggies (these are a must). Then you can choose all the toppings you want and 1 to 2 dressings. The quantity is huge so you might have leftovers for another meal. I love cava. This was the first cava I'd ever been too and I've been going for years. I never write bad reviews, but the past few times I've been to this location, I've been met with unacceptable service. Not only are the workers insanely rude, but they have gotten my order wrong for the last 3 times I've been there. And chalking it up to just being that one day or one worker, I continued going. But the final straw was today with a pickup order when I ordered a bowl with double meat, double pickled onions, and dressing on the side. not only was there no double meat ($5+ BY THE WAY) , no pickled onions, but it was also drowned in dressing. Understood the hype as I tried CAVA for the first time ever. I love the idea of customizing your own Mediterranean bowls and how they offer many toppings to choose from. I would highly suggest placing your order online as it reduces the wait time as this location gets busy. I made my own grains bowl using Right Rice and I love their tzatziki sauce! They are a bit skimpy on the dressings, however, as each sauce cup was only filled halfway and max per bowl is 2 sauces. The bowl itself is huge and enough for 2 people, however, I was able to finish mine. It was delicious and mostly healthy. The ingredients were fresh and there were so many toppings to choose from. Cava is one of the best fast food chain and Mediterranean places I ever been to. It is a chipotle style where you get to pick your own meats and toppings. For the meats, they have chicken, lamb, beef, and falafel. What really stood out to me was the toppings they have. They have a wide variety of dips, from hummus to harissa to tzatziki and more. The other toppings include many different types of pickles and veggies to add on top. And the spread are super good too! The bowls are not too pricey and you definitely get a large portion every time. The workers are always helpful, answering any question I have about the dips and sauces. Would recommend to anyone visiting SoCal or like Mediterranean food. My only complaint is that there is usually a line during peak hours but it is always worth the wait. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I placed a simple order online for pickup- 2 falafel bowls with red pepper hummus, tzatziki, crazy feta, & shug sauce, yet it came out with no sauce or dips/spreads. The bowl had falafel, rice and veggies with no sauce, dips or spread. No flavor. It was extremely dry and bland. Completely terrible experience that cost $40 By the time I got home with the meals, the restaurant had closed so I couldn't take it back and have it fixed. When I filled out the survey they sent to my email, they sent back a generic apology message and completely dismissed my experience. Mistakes happen, but good customer service means taking responsibility and making things right. Instead, I was left with a meal I didn't order and a frustrating experience. If you gave me $15 and asked me to come up with all the same ingredients to make the same thing, I wouldn't be able to. I ordered on line at 1230. Showed up. Waited 30 minutes. Still waiting at 106. They don't have the rice I ordered so they are not properly prep cooking. They don't utilize the pick up window. They are asking people what orders they have and handing them out rather than keeping the flow of pick up orders going. Put them on the shelf and let us grab ourselves. I honestly can't say I've been more disappointed and dissatisfied. I won't even be eating this. I'm forced to take this as they will not refund me and cava as a business is useless to consumers. I eat cava almost every day of the week. I ate at the la jolla location over 300 times last yr. Just moved to mission valley area, was here last night and already back for lunch today. But the employee making my bowl today was so rude I felt compelled to put my experience in writing. To start, he scooped the smallest portion of rice i've ever seen. If I can see the bottom of the bowl, you need to put more rice in. I asked him for another scoop, and in the rudest way possible he said "that'll cost you". Told him to forget it, then he gave me 2 scoops of hummus (supposed to be 3). I know that slop bowl places like cava / chipotle have been decreasing portions for a while now, but this guy was so offensive and in my face about it. Also, train your employees better. Zero reason to be rude when you just gave me the smallest portion of rice i've ever seen at a cava. Menu seems simple enough but I ordered a specialty bowl so I would not have to go through the many options. Ordered the harissa avocado bowl and got the Harris's sauce and garlic sauce on the side. At it to go. The food except was good but not considering I paid over $18 for the bowl. Maybe $14-15. It was a healthy meal but next time I will order something curated by my own toppings. I kept hearing about the CAVA hype through social media and friends and I am pleased to say that the hype for CAVA is worth a visit. I came to cava around 6:30 with some coworkers and the parking lot was very busy so just a tip you are planning on visiting during the week at that hour, try to park in the back of the lot as soon as you turn in. The line was out the door and there were many people outside enjoying their meal and only a bit of indoor seating left. The staff here is friendly and clearly working fast to keep the line moving quickly. The ambiance here is welcoming. After a short wait, maybe 10 minutes, it was our turn to order and I got a custom bowl. I got rice as my base, the harissa honey chicken for my protein, humus, and some veggies. I got their pita chips on the side and a lemonade. I was super excited to try my bowl and upon the first bite I was obsessed. The flavors in the bowl are there and after a good mix everything becomes even more flavorful and delicous. The pita chips were the star. I am not sure how they make them but they are so crispy and have a delicous flavor. Definitely get this over the regular pita. I am so happy with my visit and can't wait to return again. 10/10 read more

The first thing I noticed was the aroma of the proteins. My belly was so ready. I love the option to customize my food and this spot makes Build-Your-Own easy. For a Thursday night, it was very busy, with lines to the door. There is some seating inside but it seemed like many customers got their orders to-go. When we got to the front, the staff were friendly and patient with us asking questions and not knowing what we wanted to add to our orders. You can choose to get a pita wrap, rice bowl, salad, or a mix of rice and greens. They have many options to satisfy your Mediterranean cravings. I like that you can pick up to 3 dips per entree and a side of pita is included. However, when we ordered several things were out, including the protein my friend wanted. Other items were running low, which we feel impacted the amount we received in our orders. My partner asked for lettuce and since it was running out, he got like four cut pieces (see photo). It was my first time visiting so we asked the staff if they are always so busy. Their honest answer was yes but they were also backed up. They apologized for the wait and one staff member offered to make one of our entrees free but I had paid already. It was still a nice gesture and not something we were seeking or expected. As for the food, it was great. Everything was fresh and the meats were flavorful. I liked the harissa honey chicken but it definitely has a kick to it. The lamb meatballs are delicious as well. Since they were out of the lemon herb tahini dressing, I got the tahini caesar and it was creamy and rich. I really liked the variety of food you can select depending on how you're feeling. As we ate our food, we noticed later customers (as the line thinned out) receive significantly larger bowls. It made us feel like we paid the same amount of money for less. However, I think the employees were doing the best they could with the crowd and kitchen being behind. I have been hearing my friends rave about CAVA and didn't realize there was one at mission valley mall! Saw the restaurant and knew I had to stop by and grab a bite for lunch. The prices for the bowls are a good deal about $13-18 depending on what you decide to opt for. I ended up getting a DIY bowl and chose the sides / salads / grains / protein and sauces I wanted for my bowl. The line was out the door and took me about 10 - 15 minutes to make it to front and order. I chose the mixed power greens and black lentils for my base and then I got the option of 3 scoops for spread and of course I chose the spicy hummus and tzatziki sauce. For my protein I chose grilled chicken and grilled mixed veggies. For the veggies I added cucumbers, pickled onions, and corn. Since the mixed grilled veggies were enough for me I didn't focus so much on adding on more. Then I added garlic sauce on the whole thang. The amount you get is so much I had to take a break then finish up the whole bowl.. their pickled radish is def on the sweeter side and like how their Persian cucumbers were seasoned. The chicken was good, it was a bit too grilled for me where I felt like it tasted kind of burnt. The bowl was very filling and definitely kept me full afterwards. They also have bottled / can drinks you could select from while you're in line. I bought sparkling water but if I knew they had some house juices, I would have just grabbed a cup up front and purchased a reg size drink to try out some of their juices, it looked good and will have to try next time. There is plenty of seating as well from inside of the restaurant and also outside - def a nice outside seating area on a sunny day.
