Okay!!! this is a middle eastern style chipotle. It was empty when I walked in, I called before hand and they suggested I order online to pickup because it gets crowded. It's walking distance to the beach! Such a great option for a meal Under $20 per person & transferable in the bag without spilling from the lid. At first I was going to choose a pre made bowl, then I decided to make my own! You can add as many toppings and flavors to the bowl- I did half saffron basmati rice and half mixed super greens. Next I topped it with lemon chicken, pickled onions, black lentils, tabbuleh, cucumber, so much more! My friends and I were pretty hungry when we ordered. We also got the side of pita chips, about 5-6 triangles fried. Good for one-two persons. I used to love Cava and have visited most of their LA locations, but recently, I've noticed a significant decline in their service, cleanliness, and food quality. On multiple occasions, they've been out of several items without informing customers until we're mid-order. During my last visit, my daughter almost chipped her tooth on a bone in her food. When I brought it to the staff's attention, they offered a card for a free meal next time, but they were out of those too. I was disappointed with their lack of assistance. I emailed corporate, and while they responded quickly with an apology and offered a coupon, I requested a refund instead as I don't plan on returning. Really really enjoyed this! Food was fresh, flavorful, generous portions, and healthy. A bit too much sauce but other than that really enjoyed it. It's a great price for what it is ($10.95)--usually these healthy grain bowls go for $16-20 out here in LA. The only thing I'd comment on is that our server wasn't very friendly--he wasn't rude or anything, but absolutely no smile while helping us the entire time. I probably wouldn't have commented on this as it didn't really bothbut I read a few recent reviews about some pretty negative experiences with their service here, so that's disappointing. Work trip eating adventure got me here at CAVA, which happens to be a few doors down from our Santa Monica office. It's spacious and while there's a queue, it moves fast! The staff is friendly and scores 100 in efficiency and line management. We were in & out, literally less than 10 mins. The set up (assembly line) kind of like Chipotle - Mediterranean style! I got a bowl with rice pilaf, yogurt sauce + hummus; for proteins I got grilled beef balls and falafels; added cucumber & tomato salsa, cabbage slaw, more cucumbers, olives and lime chili sauce. The food is so fresh and so tasty and healthy! Portions are big and the price is amazing for the quality and taste of the food. Service: nice and friendly Parking: street meter parking or city parking structure across from the street (90 min for free). - Gluttony Expedition - Grain bowls: You pick the rice/lentils, protein (meat balls, 2 chickens, roasted vegetables), hummus (a few kinds), vegetables (no lettuce), and sauces/dressing (multiple). They didn't have tofu, but the amount of vegetables can easily make up for it. Roasted vegetables were a bit undercooked, yet it won't kill you. I liked that they served big chunks of vegetables like carrots. Very filling despite the amount of small portions of protein. I prefer more vegetables than protein, so it was fine with me. I could only eat less than 1/2 of it and filled me up for long long while. It's a lot tastier and bigger portions than I expected. Pita comes for free but I didn't get it because I didn't want carbs. Great overall. - Conqueror's Deduction - It's like "chipotle", but way better version. Customized bowl with Mediterranean flare. It's a great example of Healthy food could be tasty and filling. I didn't realize how good they were. It's a lot more satisfying than "chipotle", "veggie grill", "tender green" or "Lemonade". I couldn't even eat the half of it for about $11 including tax. I got the grains bowl with lentils, Greek meatballs, cabbage, and some other deliciousness. I also had a chance to try their Greek minestrone which I didn't get but was very flavorful. Had ordered early in the morning for a late pickup, and when I had gone to pick it up the worker had a nasty attitude. A Dasher had begun to wait with me for their pickup order and asked if I had been helped to which I said no. Then after a while the worker finally acknowledged us and asked the Dasher what the name was under. When the Dasher explained that I was here first and needed my order the worker gave an attitude and said they didn't care went first. Okay rude. Not to mention my food had comically large pieces of uncut vegetables. In my PickUp order i asked for cucumber, and I got none. I also asked for corn, and got very VERY little. Such a great Mediterranean fast food place. There's such a good variety here and it's healthy! I like adding lentils, rice, and arugula. They have plenty of different greens options than just arugula. They have options for individuals who are gluten intolerant. I would definitely recommend getting their Pita bread and it tastes sooo good with their garlic sauce + your dish!
