We visited Nick The Greek last Saturday. It was raining, so we just took shelter inside the restaurant and had lunch at the same time. The place is small but very cozy--especially on a rainy day. We ordered at the counter and received our food quickly. I loved the Mediterranean Bowl with Beef/Lamb Gyro ($15.25), which had a great combination of meat, vegetables, beans, and rice. The Beef/Lamb Gyro itself was very flavorful. The Beef/Lamb Gyro Pita ($12.50) was also good, and the Veggie Pita ($12.50) was enjoyable, especially for our vegetarian friend. The Greek Salad ($11.25) was refreshing, with cucumber, tomato, onion, and olives--it reminded me of the salads I had in Greece. The service was excellent, and the prices were fair. Cashier showed me the ticket in queue. 3 customers showed up afterward to pick up "ready" takeout orders. Mine was still not ready. By 12:12 I asked how much longer? Cashier said request just came out 5 min ago. I'm like really? Because I e been here 5 min and it was out upon my arrival. My order was finally ready at 12:17. NOT WORTH THE MONEY FOR INADEQUATE MEAL - NOT AFFORDABLE Really meh. Like REALLY meh. We ordered the Nick Fries and there was no garlic sauce nor salt on them. It just tasted like fries with feta cheese that wouldn't stick to the fries. The salad also had no dressing. We got one side condiment with our take-out order and it was mayonnaise, not garlic sauce. Also, the default tip amount is 18%, going up to 20% and 25% percent? That's totally ridiculous for counter service for take-out at a casual dining place. For 1 order of gyro plate, 1 Greek burger and a full order of Nick's Fries without all the seasoning, it was $45. The 10% California sales tax plus the lowest tip amount of 18% put an additional $9 on the tab that could have just been a whole additional burger. Nope, not going back. Get the Gyro, not the Gyro plate! We wanted a snack, so we stopped in and got a Gyro plate (easier to split). The fillings were OK, but they totally burned the pita bread! I asked for unburned bread, and they gave us some slightly less burned bread (it still smelled burned).They cut the pita in to tiny triangles. I don't know what you're supposed to do with such tiny pieces of bread. Nearly impossible to wrap up some meat and veg. The guy next to me had a regular gyro- the pita looked soft and wonderful. What's up with the little burned triangles? The plate came with a small portion of plain lettuce with some cherry tomatoes and a couple olives. Would have been good with a little dressing. We were offered garlic fries when we ordered- they sounded good (and they were) but they were extra $, which wasn't disclosed during ordering. I was really excited to try this spot for some gyros after a long hike. This spot is located right by 3rd street in a semi-quiet area. I ordered the pork belly gyro and Greek fries. I wanted to like this spot but first, our orders took about 30 minutes until it was ready. When it was ready, we could see the kitchen staff put our orders out on the tray but the waitress took forever grabbing it. We got so inpatient that we went to see if we could grab our orders back to our table. When we asked about it, the waitress was very rude and told us she'd bring it. After about another 5-10 min later, she brings our food and doesn't say a word. We even apologized for being inpatient and she still didn't say a word.
