Where do I begin? This was my last day in the beautiful land of California, and before heading out to catch my flight back to the South, I was craving Mediterranean food. I've been on a bit of a Mediterranean kick lately, thank you Cava for that. First impressions? The environment was beautiful. Seriously photo worthy. As a photographer, I couldn't help but admire the architecture inside and around the area. It had that visual vibe that made me excited to be there. There was no line when we walked in, so I quickly landed on my order: the Crimson Chicken Wrap (white meat) with a side of babaganoush, and the Chicken Shawarma (dark meat) with a side of fries. Everything sounded solid. But then... we waited. And waited. Over 30 minutes passed. In that time, about 3 to 4 other customers came in, placed their orders, got their food, and left. Meanwhile, we were still waiting on two of their more popular items. I tried to be patient, gave them the benefit of the doubt, until I saw someone who arrived 25 minutes after us get their Chicken Shawarma within 10 minutes of walking in. Given that we were on a time crunch with other places to be, the delay was beyond frustrating. We ended up speaking with the manager and shared our concerns, but by that point, the experience was already soured. Now for the food. I wanted to like it. The first bite had promise, but after that, it just felt like I was eating out of obligation. For the price point, the service delays, and the lackluster flavor, I honestly can't recommend the entrées I tried. The coffee? It seemed to be good, but not enough to bring me back just for that. I wish I could give Crimson a stronger review, especially because the space itself is stunning. But in the end, it was a case of style over substance. I have had the grilled plates here, which are excellent and very filling. If you are looking to get a good amount of protein for the day or hit your macros, this will do it. The meat is grilled to order so it takes a bit more time to cook, but it is so worth the wait. The chicken thigh kebab is so juicy and the garlic sauce (toum) is to die for. My recommendations for the side are the broccoli salad (I know, very random for a Mediterranean restaurant but trust it is so good) and the babaghanoush. Crimson is in my opinion the equivalent of airport-food court Mediterranean food. Nothing feels like it was made with care or passion. It for the most part resembles the actual Mediterranean food without going above in any area (except their fries are good). Their pita bread taste like it was taken out of a Ralphs pita-value pak. And their ground sirloin ka-bab is just awful (although it looks super good in photos). It isn't real meat. I substituted rice for mixed green salad. The food were presented nicely and they also tasted very good. I especially loved the lamb chops! Juicy and nicely grilled. It was my first time to try the Persian coffee and I didn't really like it. It had a weird flavor that tasted like chemicals or medications. And the coffee was kinda thin/watery too. I went to a concert after having lunch here and I was glad I remained full throughout the concert. If I had the chance to come here again, I would want to try more plates from the grill! read more

Ordered the filet kabob and just fyi, it's the smallest portion of meat you've ever seen. Order 2 meals @ $21.00 each if you're hungry!! Today for instance, I placed an order at 11:45 and the order said it would be ready at 12:12. I showed up exactly at 12:12 seeing as how I have a meeting to get back for at 12:30 and the staff informed me that it would be another 5-10minutes without apology. Went back after 10min and they told me it would be another 5-10 min at which point I told them I couldn't wait any longer and needed a refund. I was then privileged to an additional 5min wait while the manager fielded phone calls from other angry customers about the wait time. I love the interior, and that wall sign right by the register too. It's kinda funny and sad at the same time, but it's the perfect table to sit at right under that neon sign if you're breaking up with someone. I ended up ordering takeout for this second try and got the Chicken Kabob (Dark Meat). I really loved the chicken, it was super tender and juicy. The Service is fast and friendly, the staff is tremendous. Diners Beware! First and last time customer. Kitchen prepared the wrong wrap, we let staff know and was told "The head chef refuses to make you a new wrap because you took a bite out of this one." I'm not joking. This really happened. We ordered one chicken shwarma and chicken gyro. Server brought food to the table but the sides were switched, no problem, we picked up our sandwiches, switched plates and began eating. After her bite my friend said "This isn't shwarma, it's BBQ chicken with cheddar cheese." The waitress took the plate to the kitchen brought it BACK to us and said the chef says no, you took a bite he's not making a new one unless you pay for it. I asked our server how could we tell what kind of chicken was in the wrap - by looking at it? Of course she took a bite, that was how we verified the mistake! The kid at the register backed her claim up saying our orders were shwarma and a gyro. The chef, although still upset, reluctantly agreed to make her the correct wrap. My friend said she did not want to eat any food prepared by an angry chef and asked for a refund. The woman processing her refund apologized profusely - fine - then said she was required to charge her for her for the iced tea - 3/4 of which was still in her glass sitting at the table.
