I honestly feel so bad for this staff! The food at Cava is great, zero complaints. But this staff gets put through the ringer for things that are out of their control. Just like every other business right now, they are severely understaffed. They have to close at 4 every day because they just can't get people to work. Today their computer system crashed and they are needing people to order and pay through the app. Most people were understanding but some definitely weren't. Hovering around them doesn't make them go faster! Seriously people, this isn't fun or easy for them, calm down and be understanding. Unfortunately this is just a bad location. I I've eaten CAVA many times in California and there has never been a problem. I actually love CAVA, just not this specific location. They are understaffed, the workers seem to be making a huge mess and they don't really seem to know what's going on. Took me 25min to get through the line tonight when there was only 2 people in front of me. The service is slow and they have zero urgency. Always out of food, only one person is working the line. I have come to this location in the evening 3 separate times and EACH time it has been closed, even though the signs posted on the door, google maps, apple maps, AND the website ALL STATED THAT THE STORE IS OPEN UNTIL 10 PM. what on earth is going on? The flavor and quality of the food is their saving grace. The 3 people making the food had no hustle whatsoever. 1 of them couldn't even at least fake customer service. They also had to read recipe cards for every item we ordered. I really hope management takes the time to properly train their staff in the future. The food is so good!! But some of the employees at the North Scottsdale, suck! The old man at the register is and was so rude, he should not be working in the front with customers. We needed 4 of the pita chips for coworkers, there was one out at the table. Instead of saying "you can wait until the next batch" he yelled and said "I ONLY GOT ONE. SO THATS ALL YOU GET" it's not that serious but ok. If you get flustered easily, this place is not for you to work. The workers move slower than a snail and don't even know what's going on. They've screwed up our orders MULTIPLE times and the manager 'Jess' is about as clueless as Jessica Simpson and pretty much worthless. My coworkers and I will not be returning. read more

I think this restaurant is doomed to fail as they are clueless on how to run a fast casual restaurant. Turn it into a ghost kitchen and order your meal for pickup 2 hours ahead of when you want it. Was there the day after they opened. The pita bread was delicious. I had the "crispy" falafel sandwich. The salads inside the bread were very good but the falafel were neither crispy nor hot. They had obviously been sitting around for a while and were not crispy. They were mushy and tasteless. They didn't have any texture to them and weren't what I would call authentic. Love Cava from the east coast. Love the food here too, but the service is absolutely atrocious. The staff literally look like they want to kill themselves and move like turtles as a result. You can tell they are overworked and under compensated. Shame on management for not doing better. A few simple fixes could make this place move so much better, like having a large menu before getting to the line that explains the process and options so people can decide before they get up. Or better yet, a small piece of pre-printed menu paper that people check off what they want and just hand it over to be prepared. It is infuriating to stand in line and wait for people to figure out how it works and what to get when it is their turn, then even more frustrating to have staff serve so slowly and with no attention to customer service. I don't see this location lasting long, unfortunately. read more

Came in for a pickup order and waited 25 minutes after it said it would be ready. Two people were ahead of me waiting and said they waited for 35 minutes and nothing. They finally left. Things happen things get busy. No worries on that. Observing everyone though it just seemed everyone was just in a bad mood. Talking back to customers, not happy at all, etc. they seemed to be like out of a lot of things which just agitated them more when new people came to try and order. People coughing and not covering or washing hands. When I got my order it was wrong and the lettuce was brown. I love cava but this one just is horrible read more

I order Chicken Harissa Avocado bowl online. I arrived on time and the order has not begin. After waiting for a minute or two. I asked where is my order and response was working on it. I watched person making my order. She carried my bowl front and back in the kitchen 6 times. Then I heard person telling her that she has to wait 10-15 minutes for the cucumbers to be cut up. I looked in my bowl and found no chicken, cucumbers, corn and warm hummus. After watching person making my order and took 2 bites, I could not eat the rest without feeling sick. The food is always good but the service is why I always go back to places. Everyone there was incredible however, Jenna stood out. She overheard me say I should have got a to go container so she popped up came over and said would you like a to go container. I said yes but I can get it. However she insisted. since when do the staff lie, support each other to a customer for their own good?! i do not support that at any business, nor should anyone! the customers pay for your wages and businesses should be about the customer. they did not want to get me an item and refused to after doing it in the past. i do not support this business, nor should anyone else. this is very poor customer service, which is part of being in business. someone needs to speak with the staff and management about this, as this BAD! you may not like someone, but you should be about the customer and not be on your phone and doing nothing, while the customer needs an item. this place has a very poor manager and staff that would allow this to happen and need to change for the better! read more

Not giving it a 1 star because of the food but poor service. I placed an order through the mobile app 30 minutes prior to showing up to the store to pick it up. The lady with the glasses working around 1:00 p.m. today 3/27 asked if I had a pick up order and I gave her my name, and she rudely said there was nothing under my name in the system. I showed her my order and receipt from the app and she was still insisting that nothing came in the system under my name and even said I probably placed the order in the wrong location. She didn't bother to even go to the back and check and still kept insisting that "nothing showed up in her system." I went and asked the other employee, an elderly gentleman for my order and he said it was there. The lady begrudgingly gave me my order with no apology or anything. I work in customer service too and this was just very very poor. I'll still come back for the food but beware of bad service. They even close early, or open later due to lack of staff so something is up with management. read more

I was excited to try Cava for the first time and was very happy with the taste and quality of my food. One thing I wasn't satisfied with however was the service I received at this location. The person on the line building my food seemed so irritated and bothered to be there. I'll admit the group ahead of me was a bit much, so I decided it must have been what built up his frustration. I explained it was my first time in and he had an attitude the whole time "helping" me through the process. The guest in line behind me actually stepped in because they could read the employees service was not doing much good to my pregnant self. I decided to dismiss the sour interaction and enjoy my meal outside when not much later, a couple young ladies came out talking about the poor service they received as well. "They're always so mean!" one of them said. Like I said, I was super excited to try Cava having heard great things about it, just bummed that the quality of service didn't match the quality of food. Pretty neat concept just like Chipotle bowl. Falafel and veggie bowl was just okay and could have been tastier and more flavorful. Will have to try meats next time. Not enough sauces on top of the bowl so by the time you get to the end, it was bland with no flavors. The drink is a super nice idea with the bowl that you pick. The food is delicious but staff seem incredibly overwhelmed. I have been in twice now. The first time, the manager no call/no showed so it was super slow and chaotic. The second time they just didn't listen. I asked for no pickles or olives, she repeated that back to me, and they still put them on there. I know this location is new, and boy do they have a long way to go with customer service. Basically right now, there is none. I ordered online for pickup and food was supposed to be ready by 12:40. I arrived at 12:45 and I asked the cashier, Candice, if it was ready. She told me they would bring it out to my car and brushed me off. But how did they know what car or who I was? I didn't order through their app. I waited a few minutes outside and went back in asking if it was ready (10 mins late at this point). She goes in the kitchen to find out but then comes out and starts helping the people in line. I had to ask again "well? Is it about ready?". She seemed totally put off by me and the other 2 people waiting who also ordered ahead. Finally, 20 minutes late, a different lady brings out my bowl and said "it's just busy". No apology, nothing. I knew it was going to be busy AT LUNCH so that is why I ordered ahead! It would have been way faster to just go through the line. Will not be coming back for a while until they can get it together.
