My experience here was disappointing from the moment I walked in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant itself was not clean: the floors were sticky, and every table I saw was dirty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It didn't create a good first impression or a comfortable dining environment. The service was also very disorganized. Instead of spreading out and helping customers efficiently, several attendants were standing together on the same side, which made my family and me feel rushed and pressured while ordering. To make things even more confusing, we ordered from the "curated" menu, but the staff still asked whether we wanted every ingredient included. I was about to say no to the corn, but the attendant had already started putting it in my bowl while asking, "Do you want everything on it?" That made the ordering process feel rushed and unorganized. Also, I was never asked whether I had a phone number for rewards, which I did, nor was I not given a receipt so I could scan it myself afterward. This made the overall customer service experience even more frustrating. Additionally, the food quality was inconsistent. My chicken was extremely salty, while my mom's salmon needed more salt. The lack of consistency made the meal even more disappointing. Overall, the lack of cleanliness, confusing ordering process, inconsistent food quality, and uncoordinated service made for a frustrating experience. The place is interesting. There are pre-created recipes and then build you own bowl. My family did the build your own bowl. Everything looks fresh and amazing. This was our first time here and my wife LOVED it. My son and I... thought it was just ok. My wife got virtually every topping and the harissa chicken. I got the spicey lamp meatball and harissa chicken, I wasn't paying attention to what my son got. The harissa chicken was good, but dry. Add the harissa dip (which was amazing) and it had good flavor. The spices lamb meat ball was most likely made wrong. It was very hard and rubbery, also very dry and flavorless. You pay like 2.25 extra for it and it actually was really bad. The staff was really amazing, very patient and talked us through all the food items. Thank you for your patience! This is my second time here and I teally liked the food the first time. I thought the porttion was good for the price. Since they usually have a long line to order in person, I placed an online order. I am very disappointed with my build your own salad. The portion is so small and it looks like they just threw things in the bowl. I noticed they have at least ten to go orders made right now. That is probably why my salad didn't get the attention I was hoping for. I am actually angry that I paid $11.75 for hardly any food. I will not be back. I enjoy the occasional Mediterranean food at CAVA nearby, and last night, I went to pick up dinner for my wife and me. She knew that she wanted a greens & grain bowl while I planned to get a pita. Both were build-your-own dishes. While the staff were very nice, I experienced a long line and dishes that continued to need to be refilled. The food tasted great but it took a long while to get, and due to some miscommunication, I was charged for an extra main dish. After the line slowly moved and I got to the first ordering area, I mentioned the bowl and pita I planned to order. My wife told me to order her falafel and to add some roasted vegetables and other sides to the bowl. I always planned to order grilled chicken for myself. They were out of the grilled chicken and roasted vegetables. I waited for a while for both to be refilled and added the tzatziki and hummus and other sides. When being billed, I didn't realize that the roasted veggies were another main dish, and at the point, I was unable to make any changes. Then again, it was my mistake for not knowing this so I've learned my lesson there. When I got home and we ate, the meal was delicious. I was still concerned about the long line and the food continuing to run out and need to wait a while to replace it. I would think the staff would be prepared to continue to replace what is about to run out very quickly (though perhaps this is why there was a long line to begin with). The North Scottsdale location is one of the seven locations of CAVA in Arizona. It offers pick-up, delivery, and dine-in. I had a quick and late lunch at Cava today and it was my first time there. I was able to park easily very close to the door. Only one person was in line ahead of me giving time to study the menu. It's a great menu as every item had the calories listed. I chose their new garlicky chicken Shawarma bowel and a soft drink which was the Mexican coke- sugar free. The bowl was not large but the taste was amazing. They had a recommended sauce and I declined the additional hot sauce with spices. In its place I chose their yogurt sauce. The two together were so very good with the garlicky chicken shawarma bowel. I spent about $18 plus tip. I may make this a regular spot for lunch. Finally tried CAVA for the first time and I liked it. This place is like Chipotle but with mediterranean food. You can get a build-your-own bowl or pita where you can pick your base with grains/greens, protein, 3 dips (such as hummus, tzatziki, etc.), toppings, and dressings. We were ecstatic when we heard we were getting a cava in our neighborhood. When it first opened, we tried it several times and they couldn't keep ingredients in stock. They were often out of the most basic things. So we quit going there for a while and hoped management got it under control. We've gone back to give it another try. The food flavors are good! But they are extremely disorganized in putting together the food. Every employee looks utterly ticked off, mad and very unhappy to be there. Most of the employees look like extremely troubled and disgruntled teenagers with an anger issues and it makes you nervous to even order food from them. I told the kid (it seems as though all employees are kids who are not well trained and personalityless), who said, "OH, I'll let them know." Coming back, she said that she didn't know what to do, except make me a new bowl if I wanted. I didn't want to wait, so I fished around the little black uncooked lentils and ate. A Mixed First Impression, but Promising Food - Thank God for Receipts! I first heard about Cava when I noticed some coworkers bringing in their lunch in bright yellow Cava bags - great branding, by the way! It piqued my interest, so I decided to give this Mediterranean fast-food spot in North Scottsdale a try. I started with the Pita chips, which were amazing! They're like a cross between french fries and tortilla chips - crunchy yet soft, with a delicious garlicky flavor. Add the Crazy Feta, and you've got a snack that's hard to beat. For our mains, I ordered a Steak and Harissa Bowl for my wife, and I had a Greek Salad, and the Greek Chicken Pita for myself. I requested all sauces and dressings on the side - a small but crucial detail. When i picked up my order I sat down at a table that was clearly dirty, scattered on the table was some dressing and my favorite kalamata olives, I was tempted but figured I could wait for my greek salad. My food was on time but when I got home and opened the bag my wife was greeted with a Steak and Harissa Pita drenched in sauces not the bowl that I ordered. She ended up emptying it into a bowl (see pic), and despite her implying that I messed up the order, I was vindicated when the receipt clearly stated "bowl." Lesson learned: always check the bag before you leave! As for my Greek Pita, it was pretty good, but again, a little heavy on the dressing despite my request for everything on the side. Not the perfect experience, but the flavors were pretty good. Overall, Cava shows a lot of promise with its food - especially those Pita chips! While the service left something to be desired, I'm not one to give up on a restaurant after one trip. My wife? Well, she's already said no to a second round.
