I want to preface this by saying we are easygoing, forgiving people who rarely complain, so it takes a lot for us to leave a review like this. I was especially excited going in after reading the chef's bio, which references Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. I dined there back in the late 90s, and it remains one of the best meals of my life, right up there with dinner at Alain Ducasse in NYC. That pedigree set my expectations high, though not unrealistic ones. Unfortunately, the execution at Elliot Aster did not come close to living up to that lineage. **The good:** The team acknowledged our anniversary with a card at the table and a glass of champagne with dessert. The filet was cooked perfectly, the gnocchi was well done, and dessert was excellent. **The not so good:** Nearly everything else. Getting to the restaurant itself was confusing. There was no valet greeting, no doorman, and no signage in the lobby pointing us to Elliot Aster, so we had to ask the front desk for directions. Once seated, service was disorganized from start to finish. We ordered cocktails while waiting for our table, and they took 45 minutes to arrive, after multiple follow ups and having to close out a bar tab before the drinks even showed up. My martini arrived nothing like the version advertised (one plain olive instead of the three blue cheese stuffed olives pictured on their own Instagram). Later, at the bar, a port and a beer sat forgotten for 20+ minutes before our server realized he had never brought them over. Our entrees also arrived before we had finished our cocktails, which felt rushed rather than paced for a fine dining experience. The octopus starter was well seared but the flavor combination felt scattered, and the truffle sauce on my filet had almost no truffle flavor, especially disappointing given the chef's pedigree. One small but telling detail: the decorative olive trees hanging over our table were visibly dusty, which was distracting and not something you want to notice at a white tablecloth dinner. No server mentioned a signature dish, made a recommendation, or referenced a sommelier. We never saw one on the floor. I also want to mention the dress code, or lack thereof. We understand we are in Florida, and a laid back approach makes sense here. But asking guests not to wear shorts or t-shirts does not seem unreasonable for a restaurant at this level. Gym clothes, which we saw on more than one guest, is simply not acceptable at this tier of dining. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand things go wrong, but this was a long list of avoidable missteps, not one off bad luck. Given the chef's background and the promise it suggested, this was a real letdown. The bar itself is gorgeous, and we had genuinely hoped this would become a regular spot for us, especially given the lounge menu. We were hoping for something reminiscent of La Belle Vie in Minneapolis, a place that held a special spot in our hearts. Unfortunately, based on this visit, we cannot recommend Elliot Aster or The Vinoy.

All of this is getting out of hand. But here is the coup de gras. So we leave and our friends had valeted. We asked the waiter if they validate and he said yes, I think you get $5.00 off. So we get out there and the valet says... oh yes you get $5.00 off. So my friend hands him $10. NO, it is really $20. But you get $5. off when you eat...... What a money grab, because you know the owners get $$$ from the valet company. Stay away and don't get ripped off. This place is a clip joint and we are one and done!

The Cinnamon Roll French Toast was a nice balance of sweetness, the texture soft, and beautiful buttery taste. I still used a little syrup, because othrwise it would've been a bit dry,but you didn't need much. This particular French Toast was not a 'meal' like the other French toast and pancakes. Therefore, I ended up having to order a la carte for my eggs and bacon. I did recommend to the owner Nikki to offer this as an upcharge as a 'specialty French toast' of sorts and INCLUDE the eggs and meat like the other meals. Instead, I was charged separately for side orders of eggs and bacon. Thankfully, the charge wasn't ridiculous and the eggs AND bacon were a generous portion. Still I ended up basically paying for two meals to customize as I wanted. HOWEVER, EVERYTHING was delicious. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the Huevos Rancheros. It was gone before I could even ask for a taste. The atmosphere was delightful! Creatively incorporated ACTUAL Cooper Kettles hanging along the wall in a bright, and clean dining room. The owners story seemed to come alive in the esthetic. This husband and wife duo work beautifully together accenting their separate strengths. Her working front if the house, Him- working back of the house. Homemade recipes kept alive through generations. There's greenery, whites, blacks, woods. Felt like a totally different vibe than the older, beachy, atmospheres nearby. The best part for me was the attentive and kind customer care from not only the wait staff but the owners themselves. The amazing part was my trip to the restroom. There's what I'm calling a 'joy wall' full of inspiration, scriptures and encouraging words. Cleanliness continued in the bathroom. Restroom cleanliness is a thing for me; telling of the overall environment and ethics of any restaurant in my opinion. Loved everything- The staff, the food, the ambiance. Even though I didn't appreciate the a la carte nature of my meal they STILL earned 5 stars. This will be a go-to Brunch stop for me whenever I'm in the area. Check them out!

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very clean. We visited for breakfast and we really enjoyed our meal. I had the Veggie Omelet with pepper jack cheese. It was large, fresh, and came with a nice serving of home fries. I added a bagel with cream cheese for $4. You can also add toast for $2.50. The coffee was hot and fresh, and our server, Joseph, kept bringing refills. There is lots of parking on the side and in the back. This is a wonderful breakfast spot on the beach! I look forward to visiting again soon for lunch or dinner.

And I went with potato salad instead of the fries. For about $11 with tip, great cheap lunch. My only gripe, and I know it's the norm now, is they ask for the tip in advance. Tipping to me is what you do to reward great service, in a traditional restaurant environment. Asking me to tip at a take out place before you give me service or my meal... it's never going to work for me.
