First time visiting I came with our office for a girls day and loved the gel manicure I got. Aliya made sure her attention to detail on my nails was so clean and consistent. she did an hours & 1/2 worth of a job within 45 minutes. I was convinced to come back today for a wedding that i have tomorrow and the results are even better than the first time i went. The entire staff makes sure you're attended too and the girls really want you to be happy with your results. Dupont isn't far from my office but i would gladly make the trip from Arlington, VA for services from them. I've never had a consistent nail place, i always have just gone to whatever has the best deal but Calvary has changed my mind. I now have found my new go to spot. read more

I stopped planning to do a mani and pedi today having read the good reviews, but those were about hair, not nail. I ended up having my worst most ridiculous nail experience in my LIFE. I would give negative stars if I could. I started doing mani and pedi at the same time with two ladies. It seemed my pedi lady wasn't really a trained or regular staff but I chose to trust, that was my biggest mistake. Let me just list several points that pissed me off. - There's a "lux" customer coming in after several minutes and my mani lady just literally abandoned me halfway without saying a word, leaving my hand soak in water. I took my hands out after the water is cold and decided not to have a mani at all. - And then my pedi lady really RUSHED me through the pedi, maybe she wanted to do also my mani herself. First, she cut my nail without even thinking!!! You need to cut a good SHAPE and make my feet MATCH to each other dude!!! Excuse me but I need to put a picture of my poor big toe here to prove what I'm saying. I took the polish off immediately after I get home and I'll do it myself. - I'm SO MAD she cut so deep into the pink part of my nails. That is the worst thing you can do to your customer, you make their natural nail even smaller. - Sloppy coloring af I cannot believe I'm paying someone to do that. Instead of doing the two strokes thing like a professional she just randomly throw polish on my nail very quickly and use her nail to take off whatever out of "edge" which was also ridiculously sloppy. Coat after coat just rushed, threw them there, the top coat was put on under 1 min for my ten toes. - When she put lotion on my leg she kept pushing it onto my pants, I rolled my pants higher but she just kept pushing higher onto my dry clean only pants, lucky me. - I paid 29 plus tip for this 20min "service". My friend happened to call right when I start and finish the pedi so I knew exactly, it was 20min total. In all, if you are interested in mess up your natural nail, waste time, waste money, spend extra on cloth cleaning, ruin vacation mood etc. try stop by. Otherwise do yourself a favor and WALK AWAY!! read more

She took her time and made sure my hair turned out exactly how I wanted even if it meant it would take her four hours and she had to push back her next client by an hour! I was able to get an appt exactly when I wanted and was kindly greeted upon arrival. John & Yvonne (who did my hair) were so nice and genuine. I had an appointment today 11/16/19 for partial highlights and asked for no blow dry or cut as I did not want to pay for those services. She was rushed the entire time helping 4 other customers during my appointment. When I came home and blow dried my hair, I realized the highlights were half an inch from my head(some close some far away). I have an event tonight and called and asked for her to fix today. The gentleman I spoke with said they are very busy and I could come back on Monday. I told him I needed it fixed today and he said no and that he could not offer me a refund. I really hate to post a bad review, especially because Hava was so nice. I've literally never posted a Yelp review before today. But this was the worst experience I've ever had at a hair salon. I should've known when they had me sign a contract before we started saying that I couldn't get refunded if they did a bad job. I went in for balayage on my dark brown hair. I showed Hava a reference picture of my own hair from balayage I had had done before. I asked for the same thing with some light face framing. I'm not sure what went wrong, but what I got was basically brassy blonde and orange hair. I spent $300 at Cavalry and then had to spend another $300 getting it fixed somewhere else. I didn't even bother reaching out to Cavalry because of the contract that they had me sign and because I didn't trust them to fix my hair. Picture this- it's one month before your wedding, and you realize your color needs a pick-me-up, and your heavy ends need a trim. You call up your hair stylist, only to fine that he's left his salon, they said he's left dc. Don't freak out, don't freak out.... i decided to come to Cavalry because I had found said stylist there a year + back. I didn't know the ownership had changed, but based on yelp reviews, the quality certainly had not. Enter Yvonne. I explained what I wanted (slight trim, my complaints with the brassiness of my highlights). What I walked out with was far better than original stylist had done, and my updated color ( a gloss with a color tint back to my original color) was better than the $200 highlights I received in New York. The color shade faded perfectly over the next month (as it should), to the point that my blonde highlights peeked through in my wedding hairstyle perfectly. Fast forward to a month later, when I needed an actual cut. She again did a flawless cut. She's talented, she's thoughtful, she's funny.... and her staff are equally as kind. And they sell oribe products! While In her chair, a customer called inquiring on prices of haircuts. Yvonne's price is fair, I think people are looking for cheaper. Can you find cheaper? Sure. Can you find quality stylists elsewhere? Perhaps. But I can assure you that you're getting nothing but high-quality and worth much more than you pay for when you see Yvonne! read more

I am new to the area and am on the market for a new salon. I like to be a regular at places and hoped that this would be my new place... unfortunately it is not. The woman who colored my hair did a good job (partial blonde highlight), BUT I was taken aback by two things: 1. Cost -- Yeah it is expensive! About $200 for a partial. I was expecting it to be pricey given that we are in a city, but still, I had some sticker shock. 2. They don't dry your hair! -- I was just doing my thing, getting my hair done, and then the woman who washed my hair plopped me in front of a different mirror and said here is your blow dryer! I guess this is fine, but it was really surprising. Apparently if you want them to dry your hair, you have to book it in advance and it is another $80 or so. I was fine with my hair color, and really would I guess be fine with not getting my hair blow dried, but I wish I had known all this background information before going! I am deciding to try other places to see if I can find a better deal, a stylist that I connect with more, and somewhere that I don't have to see a different person and book another appointment to dry my hair. read more

Stopped in for a pedi with Linda and this place is great! I highly recommend. Clean, relaxing, the chairs are so luxurious. The prices are comparable. It's tough to find a good mani-pedi place in Dupont. I've been to a few where the chairs are too packed together, or where the owner seems to be looming over the manicurists making me feel uncomfortable - and this place is the best I've been at in my 5 years in this neighborhood. read more

If you want to pay $410 plus tip for subpar service and a subpar balayage this is the place for you! On the website it says a balayage is between $250-$350 I didn't ask for a haircut but the lady insisted I get a TRIM not anything fancy Her manner was kind of rude and the whole thing felt very rushed. Very disappointed. I had to spend an additional $150 elsewhere to get my hair fixed a week later because she put these horrible chunky "teardrops" in the front of my hair. The place that I went to to get it fixed said it was chunky and horrible and that is definitely not how it was supposed to look. Unfortunately, will not be recommending anyone here :/ read more
