I booked an appointment with Elena based on her reviews for balayage, having zero idea this salon is also a Deva salon and Elena is their curly hair specialist! I'm so glad I found her! She addressed my concerns about not wanting to end up with orange hair, which is what I feel like always happens to me. Not only is she super sweet, but she really took the time to hear what I wanted and come up with a realistic game plan. I ended up with more of an ashy brown color with blonde (not orange) highlights. Very pleased with how it all turned out. Also, everyone at the salon was very nice and made me feel right at home. It was easy to make a Diva cut hair appointment online. The website estimated that the hair appointment would take one hour and would cost $100. If you have long, curly hair I'd definitely allot more time and money. My appointment lasted about three hours and cost $130. I'm not thrilled with the results. Before my cut I stated that I wanted the length to remain the same. I just wanted a trim and a bit of shaping. Unfortunately, a lot more was cut off than what I wanted and the layers aren't all even. I wouldn't get the Diva cut again. read more

I found Cavalry via instagram when I was looking for some hairspiration. I quickly booked an appointment with Lucy for a full balayage and Emerald for a cut after seeing their work. When I walked in i was greeted by the nicest receptionist and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Right on time Lucy came, I sat down and gave her my hair history and showed her and Emerald some pictures of what I wanted. Hair history: I got a "balayage" from a different salon where my hair was bleached super blonde from two inches down my roots to the ends. It destroyed my hair and I also hadn't had a haircut in 7 months. Lucy took her time looking at the pictures and my coloring to see what would look best and we decided on a reverse balayage where instead of lightening my hair we would darken the ends up with some copper/auburn. She made sure to put Olaplex in my hair to rebuild what had been damaged. Then she went to work artfully putting the color in. Once the color had set she took me over to the washing station advising my on shampoos and conditioners that would work best for my color-treated hair. After that, I was taken over to Emerald for my cut. I loved her liver in hair style from Instagram so I told her that was the look I was going for - a lived in lob and she delivered! My hair was cut and styled to perfection! She also talked me through the products she was using and gave me tips on how to style my hair so I would be able to recreate it on my own My hair has never this beautiful or healthy in my entire life! The place is amazing! First of all, the room is super well located and spacious, which is quite useful, especially if you still feel insecure due to the pandemic. I just moved to DC and desperately needed some bleach on my hair. I've had my hair colored by the same colorist since I was 12, so needless to say I was a little terrified to let someone new touch my hair. After a lot of stress and research, I found myself at Cavalry. From the start of my appointment Hava was amazing. She talked through what I wanted and gave her opinion on the best way to get me at light as possible without damaging my hair. I think I have found my DC hair home after living here for three years and never quite being satisfied. I saw Amy, a principal. Not only did she do a great job cutting my gnarly, down-to-my-lower-back, post-wedding hair, but she was so fun to chat with, and whip-smart to boot. I think she gets working with wavy-haired people, which not everyone takes the time to figure out. My hair is medium-length, curly, and gets really frizzy. She was able to cut and style my hair where now it's so easy to style. I love the length and she even gave me tips to keep the frizz away. The salon is clean, well-kept, and in a good location. The decor is very chic! As soon as I walked in, the receptionist was very friendly and the service is great. Elena is so amazing--she is so kind, she listens carefully to what you want and she explains everything she's doing. I went to this salon on Friday for a last minute Brazilian wax and although my tech was very personable and friendly, I have never received a more painful, horrible wax in my life. I'm not sure if it's because this salon uses soft wax and she seemed to be having a hard time pulling it off once she got to the lips but my vagina was in pain up until late yesterday, I looked and I have scabs now from where my skin was ripped off, there's still hair left behind. Then to top it all, they charge you a service fee if you're paying with your card but there is nowhere that states this policy on their website. There really isn't anything positive I could say about the experience besides that she was so sweet. read more

I never post and wish I didn't have to but I had a one of the worst hair cuts by Hava who started cutting and shaving my hair to what she thought was "stylish" but didn't even explicitly tell me what she was planning to do before she did it. I also showed her the photo of what I wanted and she didn't go with it, just did what she thought looked good from her perspective..not thinking maybe it's not what I wanted as the customer. Now I'm really unhappy with the cut and trying to hide it with a hat. I definitely won't be going back and really sad because otherwise I thought she was doing a great job until she hacked it up. read more
