Great food and excellent customer service. I was missing part of my order (delivered by DoorDash) and I called the restaurant. They agreed to replace the dish, free of charge, and have it delivered just 15 minutes later. The person I spoke to hand-delivered it himself. Ordered through a local delivery company and when the order came entirely wrong, I had to fight and fight with the delivery app to get any type of refund. Low quality food. Taco Bell is gourmet compared to this place. I have ate the worst Mexican if that's even possible. Any one can make better at home and that's what we should have done. Had to call my bank on the next business day to get our money back. Orders for four families and no one was happy. We ended-up ordering pizza and having it delivered. Food was awful. Special quesadillas had cold chicken. Chimichanga were average and small. It seems that the are just assembling pre-cooked food as quickly as possible to get out, not worrying about the food being heated up or good. Service is fair at best. read more

It would be nice to rank them a 4.5 for I sit on a fence. Been a regular since Cazuela's opened and most times we're greeted by a familiar face and/or served by a familiar server. I only knock them down for many visits they forget to bring my requested hot salsa (their standard is great, tastes homemade, but I prefer the spicier "salsa picosa"). In the earlier years, they didn't seem to 'get' little things like making sure menus and seats are clean (but would quickly correct it when pointed out). Fortunately, I've not seen that for some time now. This is one of the few restaurants I visit frequently - perhaps ten or more times a year. They've morphed through several improvements to decor and seating. The employees who have known us for years are genuinely sincere in making us feel part of the family. If you like the chain Mexican places its probable you won't like Cazuela's... or it will convert you to the mom and pop establishments. The food is good... actually excellent for the price, drinks are worthy of a second round and the patio is especially lively. I usually order one of a limited number of items (am vegetarian) and my Amigo and I both agree the same plates taste slightly different each time. Not radically different, but enough to know they're not ladling sauces from a can. They draw a campus crowd that meshes well with older peeps. Sometimes it can get a little rowdy late at night, but I've never witnessed anything over the top. Yes, I've had better Mexican... in other cities. When I visited Cazuela's, they were open, according to their times. I walk in and they say "the kitchen is closed because it was a slow night." I've never had a restaurant say such a thing. This restaurant does not care about hungry and loyal customers and there are other Mexican food businesses in Columbus that deserve your business. The restaurant was fully staffed, there were people still eating, and we walk in to rude staff. One waitress gave us a rude attitude that was not deserved. Cazuela's is just as I remembered as a college undergrad! Delicious margaritas, good prices, great food, and some high street entertainment. As my husband said: "Are you really dining on High St. without a few homeless people walking by?" Now don't let this scare you, it's just an indication that we are locals and have lived in the area for 6+ years. This was the first time at the new location (literally a block North of the old one) and we loved the massive patio! So much space and still plenty of fresh air and High St. action. Walk into the restaurant (house?) to see the hostess then immediately ask to sit outside - you can't go to Cazuela's and not experience happy hour al fresca. Service was solid, as usual, except for having to ask for water three times. Jumbo margaritas are cheap during happy hour - big enough to share and still one of the best frozen margaritas in town (read: can actually taste the tequila unlike other popular Mexican establishments). Menu is focused for a Mexican restaurant but plenty of options. The husband ordered three tacos and thought it was the perfect amount of food and I ordered a steak quesadilla. The quesadilla was fantastic and came with guac but the rice and beans were a little cold and stale-tasting. Wish I had read the reviews before I stumbled on this place. Was preparing for a day of studying and thought I deserved a fun lunch. We sat on the patio and it was dirty, dirty, dirty. I had been here once many years ago and had a decent experience. The other night i was craving Mexican food so I stopped here after work to get some to bring home. I was kind of disappointed that they had no where for you to wait for a to go order. When I got home with my order I opened the two boxes and realized that they had forgotten half of my order, which wasn't very hard. And the food looked like an animal vomited in the container. If I was asked to name a restaurant that needs to be closed down due to unsanitary conditions, Cazuelas would be the first in mind. Besides the fact that they don't keep the place clean, the last time I had something to eat at that rat hole, they brought a plate of refried beans and rice which had clearly just come out of a microwave. The sides of the dbeans and rice were hardened and dark and the rice looked like they had just scrapped it off someone elses's dish. The chips were stale and had no flavor. Cazuela's has what I like best: Tequila, Ice, and Artificial flavoring. Not all the hoopla of actual fruit in my margarita, because sometimes, I want that fake imitation flavor! And at 5.50 Jumbo lime marg's from 2-6, you can't beat that with a stick. Once I come in, I never leave. Don't make the mistake of ordering 3, however. You'll need carried out, literally. Cazuela's has definitely gone downhill since opening. You used to get your food in 10 minutes. Last time I visited, it took our surly waiter 15 minutes to tell me they didn't have chiles rellenos. I've never seen anyone resembling a manager here, so I get the sense the waitstaff doesn't feel like they're held accountable, and they're probably not. Their recent strategy seems to be increasing the alcohol offerings and decreasing the food while having an attitude about everything. Unfortunately El Vaquero's seems to be having the same problem lately, and they have more seating. Depending on which location is more convenient, I'm equally likely to check out either. read more

I always enjoy the food here, but the service isn't exactly up to par. I went with a few friends, and there was an issue about lost property, and the staff were everything but helpful. The server tried avoiding us, and when we finally pulled their leg enough to get the manager to talk to us, he refused to look through receipts because it was 'too much paper'. If I were trying to keep a customer, I would do what I could to keep them satisfied. He could have fixed it, but he was too lazy to sift through a few receipts, and that says bad business to me. read more

We have loved this restaurant in it's previous location for years. After visiting the new location for the 2nd time (giving them time to work out the kinks), we won't be back. The $6 margaritas had no hint of tequila, tasted more like lime KoolAid and were actually served in an 8 ounce platic cup, no rim available for salt. My friend ordered two crunchy tacos with shredded beef, she got two flour shell tacos with ground beef. If a customer wants shredded beef vs. ground beef, they should be able to do that even if it means an up-charge. My vegetarian tacos were flavorless and the shells were sponge-like in texture. Cant believe how much change has taken place since the move. They lost two long-time customers today for lack of quality in food/drinks and extreme lack of customer service. read more

Let me start of by saying I have been in the restaurant business for over 15 years and I will never go back to this place. We went on on a Monday night at 6:15 and they were not that busy. We ordered the appetizer platter and the carnitas fajitas. It took 45 minutes for our entree to come and still no appetizer. The rice was burnt crispy and the pork was so dry you could not swallow it without taking a drink. The appetizer finally showed up after an hour and was like warm. The cheese in the quesadilla was not even melted all the way. The manager came over and told him how horrible the pork was and that our appetizer took an hour and we are never coming back and he just said ok. Plus we had to ask for refills for our drinks twice. My 14 year old son was showing a science project at the State Science Fair last month. On the evening before the fair we decided to eat at a restaurant along (the infamous) High Street. Cazuela's Grill looked interesting - two homes attached together - so we decided to give it a try. We were seated right away at an outdoor table. OSU was on summer break so it wasn't very busy. Ten minutes went by and a server (some young guy with a small pony-tail on top his head) finally came to take our order. I said, "Um, can we get drinks first?" He said, "Oh, yea, sure. What do you want to drink?" I ordered a beer and my son had water. Five minutes went by. Then 10 minutes. Then 15 minutes. No drinks. I am not exaggerating. I looked back into the kitchen and saw our server leaning back and casually talking with another employee. I walked back to the kitchen and asked where our drinks where. Our server said, "Oh yea, they're coming right up!" Another five minutes went by and we FINALLY got our drinks. The server didn't apologize. So from the time we walked in there until the time we got our drinks, 30 minutes went by. I am not exaggerating. The only positive thing I can say is that the food was pretty good. When we went to pick up the order, it was not nearly ready, and ended up waiting over an hour. In the end, it wasn't even what I ordered, and they still charged us full price. My first impression of Cazuelas was different than I was expecting. There has been so much hype with so many of my friends saying that I was missing out and that I need to go to Cazuelas. When I walked into the door I was surprised to see the building was so tiny as compared to what I had pictured in my head. When our waiter came to our table, we were blown away at his service and how nice he was - probably the only reason we would come back. When we first got our margarita, the entire pitcher tasted like that last sip that you don't want to waste but it so watered down that it's disgusting. Once we told our waiter he brought us a better one but still wasn't the best margarita we've ever had. Once we poured it into our glass it had more than a few floaties, very disappointing for a fixed drink. The food was luke warm and mostly forgettable but the drink was enough to not drive home ourselves. I guess I would say okay for a drink to get drunk but not good to enjoy the taste of the drink or the food. read more

I tried this place because of the reviews here on yelp but I was highly disappointed. I'm not sure what they marinate their chicken in but it was horrible!! It's a deep orange color, the taste is so nasty and so over powering, I couldn't taste any of the other ingredients. The boy & I went to Cazuela's this past Friday night. I had done a class project on Cazuela's senior year of college, but somehow it still took me five years to eat there. There's really nothing special about it. It's your typical campus area restaurant - full of college kids, lots of drink specials, and not very clean. We left feeling full, but not very satisfied. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't very good either, just meh. It was cheaper than El Vaquero's, but still not worth it. As we left the boy remarked that for kids living on campus without a car this is probably a good option, but those with a car (or who don't live on campus), they'd be much better off driving to El Vaq's or El Rancho Grande. read more

By the droves of college students who frequent Cazuela's, one might expect it to be a gem of a place to eat. In truth, i think it's the close proximity to OSU and its patio on High Street that account for its popularity. The food isn't bad, just mediocre, but the two or three time i've been there it's taken a real long time to get service and for the food to come out of the kitchen. "How long?", you ask? Long enough that i could go in clean shaven and have a five o'clock shadow by the time my enchiladas arrive. So long that i could order my rellenos at Cazuela's, drop a letter in the mailbox addressed to myself at my new Cazuela's address, receive the letter at my booth, read the letter, go outside and burn the letter per the instructions in the letter, walk back in, and still have to watch a few minutes of Mexican soap operas before my rellenos arrive. Of course i exaggerate, but the last time i was in there with a grad student friend of mine, we couldn't friggin' believe how long we were sitting there. Cazuela's really must consider getting more, or better, help. Cazuela's is clearly in a good location, but it's going to have to get better in order to attract anybody other than undergrads who want to sit around hanging out for hours. read more

The drinks are pretty respectable and that saves this place from being one star. The food is bad. Real bad. Undercooked, under-seasoned, bland tasting. Honestly the worst tamales I've ever had. Also it's pretty dirty is that type of thing bothers you. Not necessarily the kitchen (I have no idea, but am not optimistic) but more like my silverware had stuff on it and there is stuff stuck to the menu and my glass is chipped dirty. read more
