Everything I ate was absolutely amazing absolutely amazing. The only issue we had is the wrong. State came out so for my boyfriend's birthday we had all these sides but not his steak so that was really disappointing because you want to eat your sides with your steak. The other part that was a little confusing they did comp his steak. I'm not sure if they come they completely but they comped most but when they gave me the original bill, it showed me the bill with his steak on it so I ended up tipping a lot more than what I would have based off of the Bill so I did feel that was a little deceitful. I should've got the final bill but the bill that was given still had the original balance on it. When I got back to the hotel because we live in Cleveland, the balance on my paper was not the balance that I tipped on I was gonna call and complain, but that was my mistake. Stopped in for lunch at Butcher & Rose with a group after an event. The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable. The service we received was on par with all the other Cameron Mitchell restaurants (fantastic). I always like to try an old fashioned whenever I'm at a new restaurant and Butcher & Rose did not disappoint. When trying to decide on entrees, our waitress described the lobster roll as fresh, buttery and delicious so that's what I went with. Unfortunately, it was just a basic bun with basic lobster and a side of melted butter. I had been so looking forward to trying it, however there was no finesse or excitement to the dish. After the disappointing lobster roll, I decided to go all in for dessert and order the creme brûlée. It more than made up for my disappointing entree. It was beautiful, creative and most importantly, DELICIOUS. It was a great lunch despite the disappointing lobster roll and I will definitely be back for dinner service. read more

Butcher & Rose is easily one of the best "special events" restaurants in Columbus. From the ambiance to the service to the food, everything here is top notch. Parking is across the street and simple - which is always a big plus for me in the downtown area. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time but were seated promptly even though the place was humming. The ambiance is beautiful and elegant, so definitely dress the part for those Insta-posts. Our server Seph was very knowledgeable and affable. He was very thorough with going over the menu items and he gave us great pointers. Pro tip: the beef wellington here is a top seller, however, it is prepared wrapped in prosciutto. If you want it with the prosciutto, call the restaurant 72 hours ahead and they will prepare one for you without the prosciutto. This is one of those restaurants where the appetizers and sides are not a supporting cast - the Parker House rolls, the Dirty Tots, the Chili Roasted Broccoli, and the Potato Anna were all delicious, and they paired well with the perfectly cooked filets (get the Piedmont Filet). For drinks, we tried The Rose, which I thought was just ok compared to my Amaretto Sour, which was fantastic. All in all, a great meal. I look forward to coming back at B&R soon. read more

Great experience from start to finish. Service was excellent -- our waiter struck that perfect balance of being friendly and professional. We started with the king crab brûlée, which was as good as it sounds -- rich, a little indulgent, and gone faster than we planned. The Wagyu flight was outstanding across the board, but the Japanese A5 was on another level entirely-- borderline unfair to the rest of the plate. Sides don't always get the spotlight, but the creamed spinach absolutely deserves it. If all vegetables tasted like that, I'd have made better life choices years ago. The potatoes Anna were also excellent --crispy, buttery, and exactly what you want them to be. Dessert sealed the deal. The honey butter cake was fantastic -- warm, rich, and worth saving room for (even if you think you don't have any left). My only "complaint," if you can call it that, is I was hoping to see a bananas foster on the menu -- but I'll survive. Beauty restaurant with great decor. We were able to score a last minute reservation before their big dinner rush. They have valet parking available which is super convenient since it's downtown. My favorite part of our entire dining experience was the appetizers - specifically the baked scalloped dish. It's potatoes, cheese, and diced scallops which makes the most delicious thing ever. Stopped in after work -- this spot has been on my list for a while. The interior aesthetics are stunning. It definitely gives upscale date night or girls' night energy. Parking is pretty much nonexistent, but valet is available. When we arrived around 4 p.m., the crowd was light, but it filled up quickly. They also offer private dining rooms, which is a nice touch for special occasions. The lighting is on the dim side -- but in a sexy, intentional way that adds to the vibe. I ordered the scallops and a chopped salad, plus a couple of espresso martinis (can't remember the exact name on the menu). My friend had the Caesar salad and cheesecake. The scallops were unexpectedly beautiful -- presented on a bed of sea salt with a creamy, cheesy accompaniment around the perimeter. The flavors were well-balanced, and the presentation elevated the dish. The wedge salad dressing was flavorful without being overpowering. Went here for my wedding anniversary dinner. I've been here once before (amazing experience) and this visit was less than stellar. Came in for our reservation and had to wait another 15 minutes or so to be seated. We got a nice half circle booth that made for great people watching. I got the half dozen Oysters as an appetizer. They were small but tasty and I liked the granita that came with it. Husband ordered the Beef Wellington. He said that it was good but that he may have hyped the dish up in his mind and was somewhat let down by it. I don't think it was the restaurants fault that it didn't live up to his expectations for his first Wellington. I got a bone in filet, medium. It came out basically rare. I asked for a new one. The manager brought it out and it was, again, rare. She even asked me to cut it open in front of her and we were in agreement that it wasn't medium. They took the second one and cooked it longer. By then, I didn't really want it. They did offer me to get something while I waited. I landed on lobster bisque, which was quite good. Our server was wonderful, engaging and attentive. Had the absolute best valentines/birthday celebration for my fiancé at Butcher & Rose. I had the butcher cocktail which was fantastic while my fiancé had a spicy margarita which they made to her liking. We started off with the Parker house rolls which were warm and amazing with butter and we split the wedge salad. THE BACON ON THE WEDGE - enough said. We then both got a 8oz filet, I had the Diane steak topper which was great but my fiancé loves truffle butter which they made (it's her bday lol) for her and was delicious! We also had the Mac and cheese and the creamed spinach. The Mac and Cheese was top notch, loved every bit of it! However, the creamed spinach is the best creamed spinach I have ever had - again, the bacon! We finished the night off with some butter cake which is my absolute favorite steakhouse dessert and tbh, it was neck a neck with my favorite butter cake from Charley's steakhouse in Tampa. Finally, our server - Luis R. - was an absolute beast! Very attentive, great personality, and made all our decisions feel like we couldn't have picked better! Our water was never empty, we always had a cocktail, and the food couldn't have been more perfectly timed! To top it off, he brought out a bday card for my fiancé and took a picture for us in front of the bull mural inside (our table was in the enclosed outdoor area). It is a tale of several cities... there is a part of the establishment that is out by the street and the seating area is basically surrounded by glass... let's call it the fish bowl, then there is the side that is the main floor area that is the upper crust area, and lastly there is a small upstair piece that lets call the "put them hidden away" area... all of them come with the same fantastic service and food options. Our waiter was exceptional despite his man bun... I really thought that stuff went out 10 years ago... however, no matter, he was a fantastic waiter with an exceptional personality! Always there to handle this group of hooligans at our table and quick with suggestions and a smile. Hector was an exceptional waiter that took all the crud this rowdy nursery group threw at him and even gave some back! The food was amazing! They have a dish that is called crab brûlée that I am telling everyone about! It was completely decadent and out of this world! It is an appetizer, and it is costly, but it is divine! My steak was cooked to perfection! You just can't have one better any where. My only meh point was the carrot cake... it had a pineapple purée under it that to me just was not needed. The restaurant is new and quite busy. Even on a Tuesday evening we were told that we had an hour wait because we didn't have reservations. So, we had dinner at the bar. The good: - My cocktail (their Tokyo old fashioned) was fabulous. I also loved the ice cubes with the signature design. - The side mushroom dish was tasty and the asparagus dish was pretty good as well. - The ambiance is sophisticated without being too stuffy -- beautiful interior decor. The bad: - The main meal, my New York strip steak, was not seared well. There was no Maillard reaction that gives the flavorful brown crust and wonderful aroma. The same was true for the steaks that my friends ordered. On the more positive side, it was cooked a perfect medium rare. - The appetizers were okay. We got the tots and the pretzel bread. They were not bad, but I expected better from a fine dining establishment. - I'm surprised that there are so many reviews here that are glowing about the service. The server/bartender who eventually handled our order was very friendly, polite, and professional, but the rest of the staff appeared standoffish. The food was delicious, and the staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly, especially for such a large party. We started with a few appetizers, followed by entrées, and I was thoroughly impressed with most of the dishes. The only downside was the seared scallops--they were unfortunately overcooked and had a rubbery texture. I only managed to eat one out of the three, and they weren't very appealing. It would also be helpful if the menu clarified that they're more akin to baby scallops rather than full-size. Aside from that, everything else was great, and I'd definitely consider returning. Service: My waiter and the rest of the staff were very friendly. My waiter was attentive and eager to explain all the things about the menu and he did throughly showing his knowledge of their cuisine. Water was never an issue. Ambiance/Atmosphere: this is a truly stunning restaurant. Almost breath taking. From the outside to the inside it is absolutely beautiful. Dimly lit, with the most beautiful decorations and seating. This is the best date night wow factor in Columbus. Food: Wagyu burger was great. Incredible juicy and tender beef patty that melted in your mouth. Soft brioche bun and a beautiful cheese to pair. This burger is small, but special. The jam that came with it was a pleasant sweet cut to the rich fatty Wagyu patty. I'd recommend. Mac n cheese was delicious. Well seasoned, super cheesy, incredible creamy Mac n cheese that to my surprise came with giant shells. The shells were a gladly invited change to your typical pasta shape and the cheese crust added a beautiful texture change. My only grievance is that the noodles were under cooked. The noodles itself although saved quite beautiful by the flavor and texture of the cheese sauce, were a little firm and could have benefitted from a little longer cook. This was a minimal error, but a Vidal one. I can see this coming close to competition with Mac n cheese like Jeff rubys, but not quite there. I'd recommend. Potato Anna was alright. Soft interior with a crispy exterior and a well flavored cheese sauce but was only enjoyable for the last 30-40%. The first half I found to be incredible bland and unenjoyable. The sauce for the size of the dish isn't plentiful and could easily be fixed by a table spoon or two added to the top after plating and right before taking to the table. If this issue was fixed I would recommend, but with how it is now I'd confidentially say you're better off enjoying other sides. I wouldn't recommend. Beef Wellington was fantastic. Crisp buttery pasty with a phenomenal mushroom duxelles that was easily the highlight of the dish. The tender filet inside was well cooked and one of the most tender bites I've ever had. The reduction paired table side was excellent and gave a perfect contrast flavor to the Wellington. This was my first and surely not my last beef Wellington. This was an incredible experience and I'd insist on this order. Carrot cake was awful. The sponge itself was delightful and melted rapidly in your mouth. The icing was a pleasant creamy and not overly sweet add on. The pecans tasted burnt and were not pleasant. There were no pieces of carrot throughout the sponge and simply a spice cake is what it should be marketed as. I truly don't even think there was any carrot what so ever and horrible spiced with heavy cinnamon and nutmeg. The pineapple sauce it comes with was delightful. I'd say that was the highlight of the dish as the citrus and naturally sweetness cut down the spices in the cake and took your mind from the lacking aspect. Our table of 11 was served progressively, and our waiter Luis was so fun, and very accommodating. He made sure each person's needs were taken care of, and made sure we had a great time. Hands down 5 stars here! I highly recommend the Butcher and Rose and it exceeded any expectations! It was the perfect night out with friends. The ambience and service were exquisite, and the food was simply the best. Butcher and Rose had been on our list for a while, so when friends suggested grabbing some dinner before the holidays, I immediately thought of this spot. I did make a reservation via OpenTable two weeks in advance, which I highly recommend a reservation as the place was packed and upon booking the spots were filling up. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and seated after a short wait. My partner grabbed a house cabernet ($17) at the bar, which he loved, and the coat check was a nice touch. Throughout the meal, service was excellent and I would say attentive without feeling rushed. We sat in the main area with seating, kitchen, and bar but there appeared to be another dining area and there is also an upstairs with lavatories and lounge and some other space. An elevator is in the area for accessibility if needed as well but those stairs are fun to ascend and make a reentrance into the dining area. As for the food, it's on the higher price side, but worth it. Chris and I ordered: Starters: -Parker House Bread (homemade with cultured butter) - $13 -Lobster Bisque (butter-poached lobster) - $19 Dinner: -14oz USDA Prime New York Strip - $63 -16oz USDA Prime Ribeye - $67 And he had a glass of Greg Norman cabernet sauvignon with dinner - $24 For sides, we ordered several for the table, including: -Glazed Carrots (parsnip puree, pistachio crumble) - $14 -Baked Mac & Cheese (aged cheddar, gruyere) - $14 -Potato Anna (roasted garlic, parmesan cream) - $15 Every dish was cooked perfectly and bursting with flavor. The steaks were some of the best we've ever had, and the sides were amazing with the Mac & Cheese and Carrots being my favorites. I didn't catch what type of steaks our friends ordered, but they loved the food as well. Additionally, the other menu items I saw floating around like burgers, salads, and salmon looked fantastic. The inside was elegant and sophisticated, with a balanced noise level. It felt inviting and vibrant but not overwhelming, even for a full house. For parking, there is Valet available for $25, or you can self-park nearby, but plan for a min of two hours. We stayed for about 2.5 hours, and it was worth every moment. Having dined at several Cameron Mitchell restaurants across the country, I was excited to dine at the new Butcher & Rose steakhouse in downtown Columbus. This restaurant projects a different vibe than most steakhouses which are dimly lit, with leather chairs and white tablecloths. With a combination of booths and tables, the contemporary dining room is bright and airy, with floral arrangements hanging from the ceiling. I was impressed to learn Cameron Mitchell has a practice of transferring staff from other locations to a new restaurant to allow it to open with fewer of those new restaurant hiccups. My host, a local, was elated that Remy was our server. He was superb. What's really impressive is it offers cuts of meats from across the world, including A5 Wagyu from Japan. I started my meal with the decadent French Onion Soup. It was classically prepared and oh so good. The Beef Wellington is considered by many to be the restaurant's signature dish, and three of my dining partners selected it. They were wowed! I opted for the 16-ounce prime Ribeye which was perfectly prepared and super tasty. I typically order a classic baked potato with a steak, but decided to try the Potato Anna. This French dish resembles a plate of perfectly aligned potato slices cooked with lots of butter. And the martinis were delish. I wish Butcher & Rose gave your drink a final shake at your table before serving it. I love blue cheese olives with my drink, but they serve tiny olives. You might ask them for something bigger. The service was truly excellent and well paced. And the space was SO beautiful. We enjoyed the baked scallop, king crab, potato Anna and baked mac & cheese to share. Celebrated a birthday here and the food and service could not be more excellent, our server Maria was fantastic and helpful with recommendations. Do not skip the appetizers, the dirty tots were so good and the bread was perfect. I ordered the NY strip and was cooked a bit under how I would usually prefer but it ended up being the best steak I've ever had. My partner ordered the beef Wellington and loved it. We received free dessert for my birthday as well which was awesome. We are not at all people who go to high end restaurants like this very often but can say it was well worth the price. read more
