Insurance claims on residential properties are frustratingly slow and confusing.  A rental unit that I own in San Diego suffered significant damage as a result of a slow leak from under the kitchen sink that the tenant failed to recognize.  It caused flooring to buckle, mold, and damaged the cabinetry. After a sudden plumbing leak, our insurance company recommended CC&R Construction to restore our master bathroom. They responded quickly to give us a detailed estimate and settled with insurance within a couple weeks. Unfortunately, We had a delay because the tile we wanted was on backorder. After a few unexpected delays, we are so happy with the final result. Even when some of the upgrade we had purchased for the remodel didn't fit exactly, they took the time to make it work. We had a leak and insurance sent out CCR. CCR did a bid and sent out people. The third party gave us the ol scroogie. Didn't do a third of the work on the bid. No called no showed SEVERAL times with no communication for days after- if they did answer it was always with an excuse when we followed up. One time Hugo said he lost our number even though he was texting us. Another time they had truck trouble. Then they ran out of excuses and we had to call the boss to find out when they were coming back. One day a guy said he was quitting and slapped together the rest of the bathroom and left. Then we sent pics and they said someone would come back Monday. No call no show on Monday. Called again and they said someone would be out Wednesday - guess what? It was the guy who quit. He decided to stay. Not happy and would not allow them in my home again. read more

Truly the worst case scenario happened. Came back from a baby moon to a flooded kitchen!! COULD YOU EVER?! Discovered the leak mid January. After feeling unsure about the mitigation companies suggestions of contractors (they never called back until a month later) options we went to USAA and CCr was on the list of local approved vendors. We went with 3 contractors to give us quotes. CCR was prompt and when I interacted with Brett I felt at ease. In addition they had someone who was in charge of USAA claims. I wanted someone to help that was versed in how to work with our insurance company. Keep in mind I was about 2-1.5 months from my due date. My only request was to get it done before that. With the supply chain issues and current workload for contractors I was able to get on the schedule a few weeks out. Tight but doable. We ended up getting the kitchen complete one week before due date. I had great communication with my PMs and the contractor was so very helpful. We even had a request for a touch up and they were happy to stop by a week after the birth to complete the request. I highly recommend! read more

Brett interfaced really well with USAA and negotiated with them to get everything done that was needed. Our toilet seal failed, flooding both our bathrooms. State Farm has a list of preferred vendors, of which CC&R is one. I had another contractor aggressively courting my rebuild job, telling me an insurance-recommended contractor would "do what the insurance company wants, not want you want". I e-mailed Bill, the owner of CC&R, with questions about the job. Bill cut through the nonsense and gave me the straight info. Moreover, he had his answers to me by 8 am the next day (I had emailed him at midnight). (For reference, I also emailed the other contractor a list of questions; he didn't get back to me until the afternoon, and only after I told him I was no longer interested.) After experiencing water damage to my home AAA Insurance recommended CC&R construction. I will give these guys a 2 for the mediocre restoration job they did replacing my hardwood floors. However, the lack of care they exhibited with my belongings was inexcusable. My wife and I were out of our home for four weeks. During that time I found windows left open all night leaving my valuables exposed (tv's, computer, jewelr, etc.). Additionally, I incurred thousands of dollars in damage to expensive window coverings which they did replaced. The job cite was 1221 Parker Place #5 San Diego. Bill brought people to replace some drywall and Baseboards. Very simple but the people he brought spoke very little English and No English. I left them alone in the condo and they replaced a little bit of drywall. They also left the door open and left the condo. I called the insurance company and they fired them. I replaced all their work as they hung two layers of drywall by putting up two sheets then screwing through both sheets on a firewall. The guys were poorly trained if at all. read more

7/13/2015 LEAK JOB and KITCHEN REMODEL: When our master bathroom tub cracked and leaked onto the kitchen downstairs, CC&R was at our door the next morning. Peter Keating who was assigned to supervise the repair was professional, always on time and accommodating with all of our questions and concerns. His men did an excellent job and Peter made sure the job was done very well. He even had his men come back all the way from Oceanside to Penasquitos just for a tiny minor correction which we could have done ourselves. Peter was a perfectionist and we love it about him.
