I've been here three times in the past week because I really enjoy this restaurant. I ordered the exact same sandwich all three visits. On my first visit, I was really disappointed. The sandwich had only about one slice of meat and was packed with lettuce. I actually pulled the sandwich apart and moved the lettuce aside trying to find the meat before taking a picture. When the server asked how everything was, I politely mentioned that there wasn't much meat on the sandwich. Instead of addressing my concern, he appeared annoyed and replied, "That's what you get when you don't put vegetables on it." That explanation didn't make sense to me because removing vegetables shouldn't reduce the amount of meat on a sandwich. I decided to give the restaurant another chance, and I'm glad I did. I returned twice over the next few days and ordered the exact same sandwich. Both of those sandwiches were generously filled with meat and looked completely different from the first one. I've included photos of all three visits, and the difference is pretty obvious. I really do like this restaurant, which is why I keep coming back. The food is good when it's prepared consistently. My only suggestions would be to improve consistency in the kitchen and respond to customer concerns with a little more empathy. A simple apology or offer to have the kitchen take another look would have made a much better impression. read more

Every time we eat here we are impressed with the excellent quality of the food here! The lunch sandwiches are our new love! So far we have had The Gobbler, the paisano and the Italian stallion. I love this place. Everytime I come into town for business, this is where I end up for lunch. Today we had the mozzarella bites, which I had not ordered before. They were amazing. A couple were just fried mozzarella triangles and the others were like a toasted rav but with mozzarella cheese inside. We ordered a sharable pizza as we normally do. The crust is amazing and it's loaded with goodies. Abbie took care of us today. Service is always great here. They have an outdoor patio if that's your thing. Cool decor on the inside. I wanted to do Italian one night when I was in town and I wasn't fussy, so we tried here. They offered veal and that is my only must when selecting Italian. I didn't love it here. My main issue is that the pasta with my dinner was SO overcooked I really didn't enjoy it. The portions were massive, not in a good way, it was too much. The breaded cutlet was good and huge, but would have been better with a traditional egg batter. The bread for the table was nice and the calamari was fine. The drink I ordered was disgusting, a pepperchini martini. It has potential if it was made with gin, but it wasn't. The atmosphere was ... interesting. CD Roma is a family favorite of ours and we have been coming here for several years. Friendly environment with great food and service. Mark is an awesome bartender and I enjoy coming in to see him. SOLID 5 STARS! CD Roma knows the difference between dining and fine cuisine. It's the sauce. Every sauce was exquisite. From the chunky marinara for the calamari appetizer, to the creamy Italian dressing for the salad, to the tasty Alfredo sauce, and to the killer lemon butter garlic sauce for the Chef special blackened scallops at the market price of $24. The sauces made this CD Roma meal a real delight. Try the dirty Capo vodka martini ($11). Dirtied with peperoncini juice (ask for actual peperonconi peppers on the side, you'll get em). Considering that this restaurant is only about 1000 sq feet and located in a strip mall, I was completely surprised by the deliciousness of this entire meal. I swear they must have a miniature Time Machine in their tiny kitchen. My wing man Gary & I would barely be chewing the last bites of one course before our super competent waitress Allison was setting the next course on the table. Each dish was also perfectly presented. Started with the scrumptious garlic knots, and a very refreshing cocktail. For dinner I ordered the Chicken Mateo- (petite: they have half sizes - SO smart) this dinner was flavorful and you would enjoy it if you like lemon-y sauce/sun dried tomatoes and basil. Amazing. It came with one side (being the petite) and I ordered the Brussels sprouts. Those were really good considering it's hard to order that vegetable out- ya never know. Lastly, we ended with the mouthwatering Italian donuts with powdered sugar and cinnamon on top. They pair well with the chocolate and raspberry sauce. I went up to the bar sound 8pm after working a long 12 hour shift. I waited about 5 min for anyone to even approach me. Then a female waitress/bartender came to wipe down the bar, seemingly unimpressed I was sitting there, no where close to closing time. No one was at the bar, but still it seems I was an inconvenience. I wasn't bothered too much because I've ordered the ziti carbonara with broccoli and ham for over the last 25 years and until TONIGHT I've never been disappointed. The portion was small and broccoli uncooked and overall, lacking in flavorful sauce. The restaurant didn't close until 10 and I was out the door by 8:45 with only about 6 people left in the restaurant. Not busy and my order could have received much more attention. Not familiar with this area my wife and I did a quick search online for a place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. We quickly saw a few reviews and decided to stop. Coming from up North we aren't used to having family owned establishments within a shopping plaza so it was a bit strange to us. We were welcomed with a sign on the door of how long it has been family owned and reimagined after many years. Having higher expectations than most for Italian food coming from home so close to NYC and authentic Italian American restaurants we set our expectations low. We were pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Fresh chicken parm with a nice homemade sauce, Moist blackened chicken for my salad with fresh greens and toppings. Drinks were good as well with a nice selection of food and specials. We sat outside which was nice for a shopping plaza and didn't feel like we were in a parking lot at all. We will certainly keep this place in mind when we come back. read more

I took my daughter to this establishment for her birthday. We had reservations, but I noticed limited parking upon arrival; however, I found a spot. We waited a few minutes and were seated. Our server, Leah, greeted us, and we ordered beverages and an appetizer. I knew what I wanted right away, while my daughter took a bit longer and chose the lasagna. When the food arrived, the generous portions impressed us. Both of our meals were delicious. I mentioned to the server that it was my daughter's birthday. The head chef also checked in to see if everything was good. Bruce, who was fantastic, surprised my daughter with a big slice of chocolate cake and sang Happy Birthday with the crew. Great job! Not the same CD Romas of the past. Calzones, which used to be the best, are now the worst. Ordered 3 different times. First two orders, calzones had no ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Called the restaurant and this should not have happened. No compensation to us. Ordered again tonight, no ricotta and mozzarella in calzones again. Now never going back. Save your money. She still slaps. My last trip was my first time actually in here but I've gotten take away a few different times. Inside is old school looking Italian restaurant with surprisingly a full bar on tap. The bread sticks are wonderful and have a similar crunch as to a bagel with the chewy outside and soft warm inside. Got some toasted ravioli to follow with marinara and what I think was a garlic butter. Really good cheese and crunch there Next us was the white sangria which was like $11 for a 16oz glass and a really great deal and didn't give me a cheap alcohol hangover. I got the chicken Parmesan and the meat sauce for it. The parm is still hella big and roughly the side of a flat softball with just as much angel-haired pasta to go with it. Great crunch, flavor of the sauce complements well, no skimping on the cheese 10/10 dish. Finished up with a rather large slice of chocolate cake. Slightly dry on the exposed side but overall really moist. Wife got The Mac and cheese was good and huge as well (I think she got 3 meals out of it) 5/5 would recommend to a friend and looking to head back in for buy one get one chicken parm Thursdays!!! read more

Friend asked me to meet at this restaurant. I had never been there. Nice interior. Staff was professional. I ordered the Linguini with clams. I couldn't see the clams. They had been chopped up so small. And the whole dish was drowned in butter; didn't even have the flavor of garlic or any other seasoning. Just the melted butter. It was obvious that the cook did not know how to make this dinner. Meal was $18. Not worth half of that price. read more

Probably the best chicken Parmesan in St. Pete! The other Italian dishes are great too! They need to do something with their draft beer because they are serving beer that is flat has no bubbles when it's being served. We were seated on the patio, which is just a fenced off area of the parking lot. Nice enough, but not much ambiance. We started with the Fried Cheese: Sliced Whole Milk Mozzarella, hand breaded in Italian breadcrumbs and deep fried. Served with marinara. This is just a different shaped version of mozzarella sticks. They were good, you can't really ever say anything bad when cheese is involved. My entree was the Shrimp Fra Diavalo, it came with a Caesar salad. I love Caesar salad, but I left half of the very large portion behind because I knew pasta was coming. And I am so glad I did because the pasta dish was simply enormous. I dont think I even ate half before I gave up and asked for a box. The pasta itself was nice though, a perfect al dente and a good amount of shrimp. The sauce was touted as spicy but I did not detect any spice even though I requested it to be so. NIce place, good service, I would come back. read more

Okay, we found this amazing spot on a whim looking for a place to eat with a patio as we had our pup with us. And my goodness was that a tasty lunch. I wish I lived near here! The spicy wings were just the perfect kick and really just the tru definition of spicy wings. Be sure to ask for extra napkins. I ordered the chicken salad club sandwich (no bacon) and minestrone soup. The chicken salad sandwich had 3 layers of crunchy flatbread and LOADED with the best chicken salad I've seriously every had with two nice chunks of tomato and lettuce. I would come back for that any day if I was close enough. The minestrone soup was super flavorful, but could have used a pinch more salt, but that's just me...I like it a little saltier haha. I decided to try CD Roma out as they are popular in the Tyrone Mall area. They are known for their pizzas, pastas, craft beer bar, and chicken dishes. During the time I visited, I was craving Fettucine Alfredo and wanted to try a new restaurant. The Alfredo here was horrible, like the kind that you get out of a jar that tastes like nutmeg. I was so disappointed for the price I paid for this eggnog flavored Alfredo. The coolest thing that I tried was their fried garlic knots. I've never had this deep-fried version. They have a membership deal, where the food is much cheaper. But, I'm not willing to return and take the risk again. read more

We ordered lasagna and I have to say it was the weirdest looking lasagna I've ever seen. It was a bunch of cooked hamburger on top of a layer of what look like pre-cooked pasta and then some sauce poured on it and then very little ricotta and then more sauce and a layer of the pasta again and then sliced sandwich mozzarella cheese on top melted. When you put your fork in it you saw all this bare hamburger meat. I sent it back. I couldn't eat it. read more
