The staff greeted us warmly and got us a table right away. We requested a quiet table and they were able to accommodate our request. The atmosphere was casual yet clean and classy. The server was attentive and friendly. Looking at the menu I could see there was something for everyone. There was pizza, burgers, salads, seafood entrees and great looking specials. The beer, wine and cocktail selection had great offerings. We got a burger which was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. I would love to come back here again!

Our recent visit, Elyse was our server. She's awesome, helped pair our wine selection with dinner. She's attentive and personable. J lohr cabernet was smooth and enjoyable with Suppa Zuppa - generous portions of lobster meat, little necks, shrimp and sea scallops over linguine. Incredible! The bacon cheeseburger soup is hearty and tasty. Everyone on staff work well together. Looking forward to returning soon!

Haha. That says it all people. Would you ask this guy to your table for help. I'm actually afraid of running into him, so this will be my last post of this declining restaranti, oops.

Had a good experience at PJs on a recent rainy Friday night. The fish and chips were solid. The margarehetii pizza was a nice appetizer. The clam chowder was warm and flavorful and the perfect liquid comfort on an unseasonably cold and rainy Memorial Day weekend. A friend ordered the pasta- liked but didn't love it. The atmosphere at the bar was lively and friendly. Our server was hospitable and drinks were refilled rapidly. I liked the fact that bar offers keno and power ball! The menu is large and boasts a large amount of Italian dishes. I would reccomend pjs to anyone in search of reliable , tasty food in a classy sports bar atmosphere.

The front wall of the bar opens to a piazza with small fountain and most dining is outside under umbrellas. The fountain has toys and nets and we saw a number of kids enjoying some wet fun. Hostess stand is at the far side of the building. We walked in - but there may be parking in back. We asked to be seated in a shady spot (it. was. Hot!) and we were taken to a shady table by the sidewalk. A wall seperates the tables from the sidewalk. Our waitress was very pleasant and capable. She took the drink order and when she returned we ordered food and I asked her to be sure our waters were kept full. She returned shortly with a pitcher of water for the table. Excellent! I drank so much water. The menu is pub fare. Apps, salads, burgers, sandwiches plus some entrees like fish and chips. We both ordered sandwiches and chose the pasta salad as our side from their many side options. I also ordered a side salad. The salad arrived with our food, brought by a food runner which for me was good. The waitress checked in quickly to be sure everything was as expected. All good. The burger seemed a bit over cooked but has a nice char on it. The bun to burger ratio is good and it was fresh. My dining companion enjoyed their chicken sandwich and their vinegar based pasta salad. My side salad was a nice mix of greens with plenty of shredded carrot on top plus onion, tomato and red onion. Dressing on the side. Excellent lunch; good portion size, fresh ingredients, capable, friendly staff.

They have a great menu with pub style apps, burgers, and delicious entrees, a comfortable atmosphere, live music on the weekends, and just an over all great vibe. On my first visit, my friend and I both ordered the prime rib, which is a special on Saturday nights. The meat was tender, flovorful, and the portion size was great. It was served with a baked potato (with lots of butter and sour cream), and roasted green beans - all were delicious! Service was perfect - we never had to wait long for anything. Our server was friendly, prompt, and we couldn;t have asked for anything more. My second visit was with my husband and our two daughters. My daughters split the fish and chips and they said it was really good. My husband got chicken and waffles, and I got the prime rib again. Once again, the service was perfect, and the prime rib dinner was outstanding. My daughters went home after dinner, but my husband and I moved over to the bar as we wanted to stay for the live music. The band was called Rash Cat and we really enjoyed their performance. They were super talented and had great classic song choices, and the music was loud enough to provide a fun atmosphere, but also quiet enough that you could still carry on a conversation. I'd definitely go back to see them again. I'd like to come back again to try more of the menu items and to enjoy the outdoor patio & fire pit. What a great RI tavern for all seasons!

We arrived a little early for our 4:00 p.m. reservation, and the place was already packed. While we waited by the bar, a very nice waitress took our drink order--a lemon drop martini, beautifully crafted, well-balanced, and pleasantly strong. We were seated shortly after and, of course, ordered another. (Both times, I took several sips before remembering to take a photo!) Our waitress, Mikela, was truly lovely--sincere, sweet, and very courteous. She was attentive throughout the meal without ever being intrusive, which made the experience feel relaxed and effortless. At the end, I told her I wished I could give her 6 stars, but Yelp only allows 5. For dinner, we both ordered the seared rare ahi tuna steak. I had mine with garlic bread, while my husband chose mashed potatoes. I also added the $9.95 salad buffet, which is such a great deal--you definitely won't leave hungry. I especially love their buffet-style salad bar, which offers nearly every option one could want. Both of our ahi tuna steaks were fantastic--fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Once again, I dug into my tuna before remembering to take a photo! We finished the meal with a cheesecake to share--another delicious ending to a wonderful dinner. We're already planning our next visit--there are still so many dishes and drinks we'd love to try.

There were a few loud mouths yelling out answers but overall OK. That is the only reason I gave 1 star. This place is a total zero star experience. The absolute rudest, dismissive, obnoxious, mean , angry (I could go on) bartenders I have ever experienced. After waiting 10 minutes to even be acknowledged, my wife and I ordered one beer each. Apparently they didn't have the beer I ordered. The bartender dropped my wife's beer off mumbled something about being out of the beer I requested. Of course he did not stick around to ask me if I wanted a replacement. Eventually, I got his attention and ordered the exact beer my wife had. I didn't want to go through another instance of him walking away. We were considering food, however, no menus were offered to anyone. Probably a good thing. When I ordered a second beer, the bartender, a tall, reddish haired bearded dude said no. I was pretty much in shock. However, about five minutes later, he graciously put one in front of me. I observed the bartenders all night. I believe they get fired if they smile or be friendly to the customers. Not once did either of these bone heads even mildly interact with the customers. Death row inmates on the way to the Electric chair have a more pleasant demeanor than these bozos. If you are looking for a warm friendly place with cozy bartender's, great drinks and good food DO NOT COME HERE. It amazes me that this place stays open. Countless better options all around it.

Nestled in the Wharf, it was a cute little place with both an up and downstairs. We reserved a spot for around 5:30 (in April) and it was pretty open. There weren't too customers yet, and it was nice and quiet. If you're looking for a ton of space for the seating area, I will say that there isn't too much room/it's pretty nice and cozy! At Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey Bar, they've got a line of booths along the wall, a bar area right in the center and at the actual bar, a high top, another bar at one of the entrances, and a table that seats six. Now let's chat about the service. Our waitress was wonderful, patient, and was extremely helpful when asked questions and also gave SUCH wonderful suggestions. There were MANY fantastic choices on their menu and I was having a pretty difficult time narrowing down which one I really wanted, but with our waitress's help, I was able to choose pretty quickly (and they were AMAZING choices!) Now the food! The wait for the food honestly wasn't that long, and when we got it, we ABSOLUTELY CHOWED... -The Crispy Chicken Bites were AMAZING! I ended up upgrading to the Buffalo Style, and it DID NOT disappoint at all! The Bleu Cheese crumbles were just the perfect amount, and the Buffalo sauce was JUST enough to still enjoy the crispiness of the chicken. I DID ask for ranch on the side, and that just was *chef's kiss*! -I've never had fried pickles before, but I certainly have never seen a restaurant do it with whole pickles. Though it was my first time trying fried pickles, it tasted great! I wouldn't say it's anything special, but it's a great, and lighter on the fried side, appetizer! -I was having a hard time choosing what entree to enjoy, but I'M SOOOO glad that I went with the Smoked Brisket Chopped Cheese! I'm not a big brisket girl, but I will say that this was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! At first when it came out on the bun, I was a little skeptical of how it would taste, but it definitely didn't disappoint! The brisket was cooked SO well with the perfect amount of seasoning, and it all just melted so perfectly together as I was eating it. And the tater tots were SO AMAZING (though on the saltier side) and SO perfectly crispy. I've only got great things to say about Wharf Southern Kitchen & Whiskey Bar & I WILL be back here/will suggest it to my friends visiting Newport one day!
