I love a walk through Celine's when I'm in the mood for something sweet. Lots of candy choices, ice cream and even gifts! There is an area in back with a large TV running movies, with all the traditional theatre snacks on display. While I enjoy browsing the huge selection of sweets, my favorite is the Jelly Belly station. You can buy different jelly bean variety blends or individual flavors. Some are prepackaged, but you can also buy by weight. I love this option as it allows me to buy whatever amount I need of the flavor I'm most craving in that moment. I love this! Well, it was hot yesterday I was in the mood for some ice cream. I'm sure like many people and I remembered Celine's sweets has ice cream. I called to confirm what flavors they had. I've learned the hard way. It's better to call to make sure they're not out of stock or something that you really want. Krystal is the person who answered the phone. She was really friendly and really nice. Very helpful with information and I said I'll see you in a little bit to get some ice cream. I went down there and they had a excellent variety of flavors. I tasted several flavors and landed on strawberry. I was in the mood for it. OK that was my second choice actually I'm gonna be honest there was a mint chocolate chip that they just ran out of, but they had enough to give me a little taste sample and OMG when they get more in stock, I'm gonna go get some. It's rare when they run out of stock completely but it happens that's life I saw how Khystal was with several customers and dad went in there with his three-year-old daughter and I was like yeah you know please go ahead and help them. I'm not in a rush so she was kind of juggling and then there was too like 12 or 13 years old, but she was helping these customers while helping me and that's OK so I settled on strawberry and it tasted really great. I thanked her for being so nice on the phone and in person and so helpful. Cine suites is lucky to have her as are we the customer base I told her I was gonna update my five star review from like 10 years ago so here I am doing it. The prices are great and you can get a free cake or sugar cone then with sugar since I hadn't had one of those in quite a while. They got a variety of other great candies as well. I try to encorporate fun stuff on errand day, so . . This is one of the things I did. The smart train will let you off at the top of Grant Street in Novato. From there you have a tree-lined street of options, for shopping and lunch. In this case the food was supercalifragilistic. The staff person was super nice; friendly from the moment I walked in, and through out. They have a fantastic selection, stuff you don't often still see; very nostalgic. Thr ambiance is "over top". I love going to candy stores and Celine Sweets is one of them. It's great this business is right in the heart of downtown Novato. They have a wide selection of candy, gifts, toys, and ice cream to choose from. They carry Double Rainbow ice cream. I recently stopped by for a mint chocolate chip ice cream and gifts for family. Had a great experience with Celine's Sweets today. Was in a desperate situation when an order for Uno Bars did not show up for my mother in-laws 97th birthday. Sharon not only had the bars in stock but was even more helpful by delivering the candy bars to a local florist for them to include the bars in a flower arrangement for her. Tons of options, cute atmosphere. However, don't come in within 30 minutes of closing, we've done so twice after getting dinner next door. Both times the cashiers (two different young were incredibly rude to anyone that came in. Barked at people to make their choices because they'd be closing soon, sighed heavily when asked for ice cream or truffles, and had the poorest attitude. Just tried again tonight hoping it would be better (8pm is an early close when you have two bars next door). As a retail manager, I was appalled when she told a guest "make a decision or you can't get anything" as he walked in at 7:59! She never flipped any signs, shut neon ones off, or closed the door. They either need retraining, or to provide a supporting closer on busy nights. read more

Really disappointing experience. We went in to buy a gift certificate and decided to buy some candy for ourselves. I bought 2 truffles from the case that had a nut base, they both tasted old and off. So bad I threw them away instead of finishing them. There's $6.25 down the drain...yep $6.25 for 2 pieces of terrible chocolate. I don't think I've ever thrown chocolate away. We spent over $40 on candy and the gift certificate and the clerk didn't have anything to put them in...no envelope or card or sleeve or anything. So we ended up spending another $3 on a tiny little card so we had something to put the gift certificate in. Honestly with the amount of money we spent they should have just thrown the card in. This place really misses the mark. There's an opportunity to sell quality candy, but it's filled with nestle, Hershey's, and jelly belly products in big boxes. It's expensive and just not worth it. So many other small towns have candy shops with house made fudge, caramel apples, and other treats that justify the cost. Next time I'm going to See's. It might be a bigger company, but it's still a Bay Area company selling quality chocolates for a much more reasonable price. Trying to escape the ash in the air, my husband and I went here to satisfy our sweet tooth. It's very similar to the previous sweet shop located here, Powell's Sweet Shoppe, but it lacks the Willie Wonka theme from before. Instead, it still offers fudge, chocolates, ice cream, novelty cards, and a variety of candy (in bulk, in gift sets, or as single servings). There's also some novelty collectibles throughout the store, like giant M&M figurines, decal metal lunch boxes, or quirky mugs. It has also a unique selection of soda to try with some intriguing names. While visiting here, I decided to go for an ice cream flavor from my childhood. I went for bubblegum ice cream. My husband selected their salted caramel ice cream. There's a few tables to sit at by the window. We enjoyed our desserts while watching the folks come and go in the interior. With the limited good restaurants in Novato, I was surprised to find a chocolatier, or some sort of candy shop that has fine chocolates, made in house probably not. I was surprised at the quite high cost of each truffle, albeit quite large but at the same time too big. Selected 16 dark truffles and 8 milk chocolate. Dark wasn't dark and bitter enough and truffles inside could be a bit smoother. Besides chocolate, they have all the candies we saw when we were kids. That's pretty cool. Celine's Sweets is one of the worst establishments in the history of Novato. It will never compare to Powells in any way or form. What kind of candy store closes at 8? A poorly run one. The essence of childhood delight has been destroyed with this poor excuse for a candy store and the inventory has decreased in both size and quality. Every town deserves a real candy store but for now the people of Novato can stick to Safeway for their late night sweet tooth driven outings. read more

I love candy shops, but what I don't enjoy is that they replaced Powell's with Celine's sweets and Powell's was the candy shop i grew up with, it's a sugary shock to replace a far superior enjoyable candy store with Celine's.
