    Inside the place

We've been to a hidden gem in DC. We met and talked with the owner who was really cool. I enjoyed the way of his approach to coffee and his unique concept. He explained us why he created this business. Because he was tired of going to places for coffee and ordering something not fresh as he wanted. So he got the idea to do something special, an experience dedicatef to coffee lovers who want to choose their beans, origins, level of roast and much more. You only need to wait 20 minutes to get your package of coffee freshly roasters in front of you. Nice guy, nice story!

    Very cute spot

Nice coffee, but real half and half is needed. Why would I want pour shelf stable cream (with corn syrup) in this nice coffee??

When we arrived, there were a few spaces available in their small parking lot, so we had no trouble parking. The shop is charming. They sell a few select beers and wines so it was fun to peruse them as we waited on line to order. Their menu is on boards behind the counter and they also have paper menus, which is helpful to those of us who need glasses! The staff was super friendly and helpful since I hadn't been there before. A+ to them for offering their coffee/espresso drinks in decaf! I had a vanilla latte and it had a deep, rich flavor. One of the best I've had in the area. For food, my friend had the bagel and lox and it was huge! She had to take half home. I had the garlic Boursin eggs. It was a nice pile of delicately cooked eggs, but I wished there was more garlic Boursin flavor. Still really good. It came with salad greens in a light vinaigrette, sauteed mushrooms, and avocado. Very nice dish. They have a serve-yourself water station and, though they bring out your order to your table, you must go get your cutlery and napkins. They have a nice number of tables for a small place and we were lucky to snag one. Overall, a really nice experience and I plan to go back with my husband next time.

I also had the Green Machine smoothie, which surprised me with little bits of crystallized ginger, each one delivering a lovely pop of flavor. The avocado toast topped with a perfectly poached egg topped with Japanese black sesame seeds is my go-to order, and the sandwiches are consistently good. Their cocktails are excellent, and the bar side makes a great venue for private parties or larger gatherings. I am apparently in the miniscule minority, but I find the drip coffee a bit too dark and somehow slightly burnt for my taste. Fortunately, they make an outstanding Dirty London Fog and a wonderful London Fog Chai Latte, either of which I'd happily order instead. All manner of alternative "milks" are available as are a pretty decent selection of local beers in their cooler if you are grabbing take out. Be prepared for a wait on weekends--this is one of Takoma Park's most popular brunch destinations. Like many cafés these days, it's a favorite of laptop-wielding remote workers, so tables can be at a premium. In my experience, though, solo diners are often gracious about moving to the communal table when they notice [or more likely are asked polietly if they wouldn't mind moving] a larger group waiting. It's just one more example of the friendly neighborhood atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

I recently picked up a small Lemon cake and a Strawberry cake from Morning My Day in Silver Spring…read more I was expecting a decent dessert; I wasn't expecting to be reminded that most other bakeries have been lying to us for years. The first bite was a bit of a shock to the system. It's one of those rare "Ratatouille moments" where a flavor profile manages to bridge the gap between Maryland and the legendary sponge cakes of Phoenix Bakery in LA. It's a bit of a trick, really--making something taste like a childhood memory without being cloying about it. The Breakdown: * The Sponge: It's exceptionally light. Biting into it is less like eating a dense dessert and more like biting into a sweetened, high-end pillow. It's airy, delicate, and possesses the kind of structural integrity that only a professional (or a wizard) could manage. * The Icing: A triumph of restraint. Instead of the usual sugary plaster one finds elsewhere, this is a light, white cream. It's sweet enough to let you know it's there, but it doesn't try to dominate the conversation. It's icing with a bit of dignity. * The Verdict: This is how cake ought to be. It's exquisite, technically brilliant, and far too easy to eat in a single sitting. If you appreciate a dessert that relies on craft rather than a massive dose of corn syrup, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's a legit bit of baking excellence right here in Silver Spring

I came to try this bakery after seeing it promoted on Instagram as an authentic Asian-style bakery…read more I miss the Japanese bakeries I would frequent often when living in Japan a few years ago, and this one definitely brought back those memories. The interior is cute and on display were a variety of Asian-style baked goods and some minimal seating. The couple who runs the store seemed busy but rang me up relatively quickly. I got the ube twist and melon pan. The ube twist was really delicious -- I'd highly recommend it. The melon pan was disappointing; I expect a crunchy cookie crust on melon pan and this one was sticky and soft. The bread itself was super plush and soft and amazing, so it would be great if they could improve upon it with a crunchier cookie crust. The bread items were $3-4 each, so not the cheapest, but I was happy to support a local Asian bakery.

Took a jaunt (.5) mile walk to check out this bright, airy, and immaculate social spot. Weather grabbing a bite, meeting up, studying or simply grabbing a bite you'll be satisfied. The table next to me got a panini with fries and a bowl. Both were gorgeous and deliciously plated with dinner sized portions. I, however, kept it simple. I got pancakes without blueberries, 1 egg, and bacon. Everything is a la cart. I was expecting Big Box pancakes. These were anything but! They were perfectly cooked with a light crisp, very dense but airy. Vanilla sewn in each bite. They were THICK too. I was pleasantly surprised. Initially thought the price was exorbitant but the taste and appeal made up for it. Eggs were scrambled to perfection and seasoned too. I requested salt before I tasted them. So glad I didn't add any. Bacon was regular nothing major to rotate. Now the Sakura Latte wasn't as pretty as the one on Insta but it was delicious none the less. Not sweet but no earthy either. Cherry after taste but smooth due to the milk. I did add a sugar free vanilla syrup. The Cafe is beautiful. Contemporary and masculine furniture with feminine accompaniment due to the vast windows and pillows that let in a lot of natural light. Its definitely worth a stop if you're near. I really enjoyed my visit.
