This "little" pizza shop has been a family favorite since I was a kid. Owned by the Cemeno family and changed names a couple of times (Joe's Dugout was named after the owner who has a love of baseball). Many parties were hosted here throughout my childhood. (I will refrain from posting pictures back in the days of braces and... social awkwardness). In it there's also a game room... with an Adams Family pinball machine amongst others. This took many of my quarters from back in those days. Aurelios/ Cemeno's is right near a mini golf place (I believe it was named Putt Putt before but I don't know what it is now). It's kind of out of the way but its worth the drive out there. Not too far from the YMCA. I've never had anything but a pleasant experience with the people and the food.... the calzones, pastas, lasagne and pizza are all spot on delicious. This is perfect for parents to host parties or even just get together for adult time in the dugout. Beers on tap are all domestic (not that I would remember any of that as a kid.. ahem!).... Makes for a great little night out. Now that I miss home, I'm going to make a phone call and see how the friends back there are doing and all that jazz. Horray for nostalgia. read more

This was our favorite pizza place in Chicago. We would always go sit in the bar area and have drinks and pizza with sausage, italian beef and giardiniera (Chicago local style). If I could rate this place with no stars, I would. Between the expensive mediocre, salty food and the absolutely appalling 'customer service' I will never eat here or order from this place again. I paid $9.99 for an entree of 5 ravioli. Yes, that's $1.99 per ravioli. It's supposed to come with soup or salad. However, the entree was for my 2 year old and so I told them we didn't need them. Since I ordered over the phone, I didn't investigate children's options on their menu. That's my own fault. Regardless, I expected more than five ravioli in the container when the food was delivered. Upon opening the container, I immediately called to express my frustration and was met with utter indifference by the manager. I posted about this issue from my personal Facebook page (including a photo of my delivery receipt and container of ravioli) and one of the owners sent me a nasty private message who I had forgotten was a 'friend' on FB. She stated that the reason the food is so expensive is because they do community outreach. Followed by admonishing me for expressing my opinion about my experience on FB. This was followed by a message sent to my father (who had no involvement in the meal) by one of the owners good friends requesting him to talk me into taking down my FB post. Cemeno's and it's owners treat their customers badly all the time. This is referenced by the fact that you cannot view customer comments or write a review on their FB page. I spent over $40 on their food for a pizza and an entree that came in at $1.99 a piece per ravioli. They have too many competitors with better food and prices to behave like customers are expendable. That's exactly how I feel. I would avoid Cemeno's at all costs. read more

Me and the wife have dined here two other times, but this time( never again) the waiter takes my order, I order a Large thin crust pizza with xtra sauce on the whole pizza half cheese and half pepperoni and bacon, what do we get, but a pizza with NO sauce( even the waiter said he sees no sauce) ! Decent food, delivery, what more can you ask for. Ordered 2 pizzas, 2 sandwiches and garlic bread sticks. A little pricey but decent pizza is not cheap nowadays. The thin crust pizza almost looks similar to a wood fired type. The pizza shape is old school, kind of rustic. Decent crust and toppings. I would definitely order here again down the road. Just moved to Joliet from Cicero. Needed Pizza! Check with my new neighbors and they recommended Cemenos. Got a carryout Cemenos' special. Everything was perfect! Right amount of cheese, and a good amount of sausage, pepperoni, ham, onions and green peppers. Sauce has a nice sweet-tart flavor and the crust was buttery perfection. The pizza is in my top three category. I wish I could ear here every day. Every time we've eaten inside the service has always been pretty good... the last time we went we had a party of 8. I did wait a long time to get my bill brought to the table. My only complaint is that the tea was awful. Well it looks like a Chicago pizza and it is as heavy as a Chicago pizza but it does not taste like one at all. It was very salty I ordered the cemenos special Pizza and the mushrooms were not fresh mushrooms they were like from a can or a jar, the sausage was not like Italian sausage it was like the stuff you get it Pizza Hut; prefab sausage. The advertisement said that it had over an inch of cheese on it , well my pizza did not have an inch of cheese it had an inch of sauce. Over $30 for a pizza that made me cry. read more

Grew up in Aurelio's but Cemeno's is just as great! Since they're now behind the house on essington, it's an even easier pick up or delivery for them lazy days of pizza craving. Something about that thin crust gives me life! Their chicken wings are awesome! Only thing I wish they did was stay open later during week, at least until 10pm! My son and daughter in law had a small family gathering here and I wanted to bring in a cake for the celebration but when I called I was informed it wasn't allowed because they supposedly had a baker on site so I had to speak with a woman who was the manager. She explained to me it wasn't allowed because they had there own baker who would gladly make our cake. I needed a cake for 20 guests and the party was on a Sunday night. She said the baker had a chocolate cake that was baked on Friday that they could decorate for me depending what she had to work with. I explained chocolate wasn't going to work because my granddaughter cannot eat chocolate and a yellow cake would be better for us and she replied well she bakes on Friday so that's all we have. I wasn't happy serving our guests cake that was already three days old but she insisted that's it's still fresh we'll I totally disagree I was more then happy to bring in my own cake but she wouldn't budge actually rude about it. Her solution to the problem was serve your guests dessert before you come then this is horrible customer service and even worse for a so called manager to suggest this. Needless to say will never go back there again she really needs some training if she's going to continue managing. I rate them a zero. read more

Its the first pizzeria that most people think of when it comes to pizza places in this blue-collar town of ours. My family always gets the thin crust (kinda what they're known for), so I thought of trying something different. HHHHMMMM... a 14' Deep dish with no toppings for $20? It better be good considering that's what Giordano's charges exactly. It was ok, but definitely not Giordano's. It was all cheese and little sauce on top, which appeared to be pretty thin & runny. Even the flavor didn't justify the price. Like eating a mozzarella brick. I should have known what I was in for since I've heard that the deep dish isn't ordered that often. Oh well, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger right? Also, their beer selection is horrible! They need to add more micro choices other than 1 Goose Island & Sam Adams seasonal. I can't eat large amounts of bread, so I thought I'd scrape the toppings (cheese & sausage) off the pizza --- and THERE WAS NOTHING THERE. Ive eaten at restaurant dozens times. It was also my the place I would order from home. Last time I ordered the pizza was over cooked with half the cheese they normally use and the onions were not peeled before being put on pizza. I called and complained and was told I had a credit for the pizza they messed up. Tried calling and redeeming credit for pizza and they had no record of it. But when we were sifted there were other tables that were seated and waiting for people to show up. On our way to table I seen they had Stella Artois on draft and glasses. I've been to the bar at this place several times, and that side of the restaurant seems fine. We decided this time to try the restaurant side and we were very dissapointed. The person that sat us walked extremely fast to a booth and threw our menus down on the booth without saying anything to us, very rude. Once we were seated there was kids running everywhere, by the tables and when you first walk in as well. We started looking through the menu to decide what to order, and noticed it wasn't very busy. There were 2 servers in our area, one walked away and the other one was doing something with plates in the corner. She looked us a few times but never came over. Wanted to try a new pizza place, and what a mistake.  It started with the call when I was not given an expectation time or price on my food.  I figured I wasn't getting a good pizza when after an hour and a half my food still did not arrive. I called and was given a run around answer as to where the deliver person was.
