Their gluten free pizza crust is really good! I got the gluten free crust which is a small with bacon and jalapeño and it was delicious. The only things I don't like about cemenos are the prices, we got a 3 topping small pizza and a 2 topping gluten free small pizza and our total was 36.45, and the service was not thAt great. First time I have eaten here, We had a thin crust and a thick crust pizza, both were above average. the bacon cheese fries were good, very crisp and tasty, just had the bacon and cheese poured on the middle, kinda wish it had been spread around a little bit more, the anti-pasta salad was fantastic, The service was a little slow but they were crowded, so I guess you can expect that, price wise, 7 people for $69.00 plus tip, pop included, not bad read more

Went here for the 1st time tonight. Very impressed with the food. It was kind of odd when we walked in, didn't know where to go sit for the restaurant part, we saw a few employees and tried getting their attention to help us, finally an older lady sat us down. We came here for our wedding rehearsal-ish dinner. Now, I'm a pizza snob, and Cemino's pizza is serviceable. Where I thought they really excelled was service. Love Cemenos! Great atmosphere.... if you want a sit down restaurant they have it. If you want a sports bar they have it. Cemeno's Pizza on Essington in Joliet is probably my favorite place for thin crust ever. I get the garlic and spinach well done and I only wish I could eat it every day. They also offer a variety of other food items for non-pizza lovers who might have been dragged along. I have never had a problem with service or condition of the food (except for one very busy Friday night when I received a small pizza burnt to a crisp-even then they took it off my bill). The bar (which they call Joe's Dugout for some reason) is surrounded by television screens that usually play sports or news and also trvia questions. On tap they have the usual beers as well as a few higher tier ones such as Honey Brown, Blue Moon and Goose Island's 312. Shiner beers are available in bottles but they seem to be running out of these lately. As I said the service is admirable. The bartender Karen is a real sweetheart. Cemeno's is also very large due to the amount of business they get from banquets and large parties. All in all, I have to say that it pains me to say this place is in Joliet because I have always said that the world's truly great pizza comes from Chicago. But hey, it's closer for me! I might note though that if Cemeno's was located in-city Chicago it would justifiably be nationally recognized. read more

I made a smart decision on my visit to Cemeno's last week. I normally order the usual thin crust but this time I went for the deep dish pan. It was fantastic! Not too thick, not too saucy, just delicious! We were the only sitting on the patio but the waiter went out of his way to check in frequently to refresh drinks, etc. I've never been disappointed by the food or the service in this family-run restaurant. The pizza is above average for the area, not overly greasy or cardboard like but it was around 20 dollars. Anything over 15 for a one topping medium is fairly outrageous in my book. The wings are even worse, 10 bucks for 8. They came breaded, a little underdone for my taste and pretty greasy. The sauce on the side idea is novel and I would have appreciated that had I actually received any sauce with my wings. So if you're looking for overpriced delivery pizza this place might fill the need but say no to the wings. read more

First time trying this place. You enter in through the bar which smelled like old dried up beer. Had trouble finding someone to show us to the dining area. When we walked into the dining area the floor was so sticky my shoes almost came off. All the open tables were dirty. Cocktail tasted watered down. The limes looked 2 months old! Pizza was ok. I have been going to cemenos since I was a child. Family gatherings, birthday party's I even had lunch their after my dad's funeral. It's one of the only restaurants that holds a special sentimental value in my heart. I have had bad service, cold deliveries, and a few other things happen to make me upset, but I just let it go, and take this place for what it is ,because there's in's and outs. Like there pizza is cheesy but usually lacks sauce ,but the Sauce is sweet, and if you eat there it's no worry About being cold, however cemenos is not a pizza that is enjoyable day after and it's not good reheated. However they have the best beefroll in the world above pizza for u ,and there tomato bread is killer as well. This place has GREAT pizza! Our favorite pizza place is hands down Aurelio's, which is where the owners of this place came from. The sauce, cheese, and toppings were all VERY similar to Aurelio's. The crust was the only difference as it was crispier and thicker than Aurelio's. I still prefer Aurelio's overall!
