Many years ago, I was a new transplant from Houston and discovered their food truck at a long-dead Off the Grid event, and now they have their excellent beer garden a couple blocks off the beaten path in Redwood City. The brisket is definitely the star attraction for me, but their other meats are also excellent, and I like the fried brussels sprouts they've added to the menu recently. The bar in the back has a good spread of beers to wash it down, the TVs and live music provide the entertainment, and it's all served by a friendly crew. It's like going to a party at a friend's house who's obsessive about Texas BBQ, and I hope I'll keep getting invited back.

After stopping by on our way out of town recently, we knew instantly this was true. The aguas frescas are served iced cold and 100% fresh. My agua de guayaba and my hubs' agua de tamarindo were absolutely to die for. You could absolutely taste the fresh fruit for each. Now for the best part. On Friday's they have a special: $5 fish tacos with tortillas made fresh and by hand... complete with all the fixings. The fish is hand battered, made to order and served piping hot, dressed with cabbage, pico de gallo, and a combination of mayo and chipotle aioli. The picture simply doesn't do it justice, folks. There were five of us altogether, so it took a bit of time for our food to be prepared. Unfortunately, there is no seating available. As soon as our order was ready, I started eating my fish taco and I was pretty impressed! The fish was nicely fried and they were very generous with the condiments, including cabbage, pico de gallo and a slice of fresh avocado. They even provided slices of radishes and cucumbers as well as limes. It reminded me of the tacos from La Cocina de la Abuela, a brick and mortar in downtown Redwood City that closed in 2021. They had the most amazing fried shrimp and fish tacos and these were just as good! The aguachile was also amazing! The shrimp were surprisingly large and served with avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers and thinly sliced red onions. It's perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of spice! I tried a shrimp from my friend, who ordered the camarones a la cucaracha. The shrimp are cooked in a garlicky, lime sauce and served over a bed of sliced cucumbers and onions to soak up all the tasty sauce. All the food we tried was delicious, and the portions are pretty generous. We discovered that you could call your order ahead, so we will do that the next time we go to save time. Toasted brioche buns top and bottom, caramelized onions, pickles, and two black angus patties--smashed of course. And plenty of condiments. No fancy ingredients, but they made it well for what it was. The chef's name was Deven and he can cook! It's a food truck, so there's really no ambiance. Today was a test run: owners were very open with their experience and they shared some of their initial issues that they have to overcome. The inside of the truck is loud because of the fan, so they have trouble hearing customers. Their truck is limited, so they're not able to do some of the other foods they want to experiment with. And their ordering system is limited in their ability to customize food. Hopefully they'll be able to tackle these issues when they formally open. Their openness gave me a newfound respect for how difficult it can be operating a food truck. They were super nice, so I hope that they can succeed.

Outside food is allowed but we also enjoyed the food truck that was there. Private space was perfect and we had our own bathroom! Clutch. We also had access to their prep space including a fridge which was helpful as we setup. I loved the private space but still access to the hub bub of the bar. The beers are always dank and we had fun doing flights of tastings! Alex, Brad and his staff make this a wonderful community space. My friend is actually inspired to host their fundraiser there too!
