    Chicken Bowl
    Shantel J.

Went to the cafe and got the chicken bowl with a side of torpedo shrimp. The only thing I had hoped for was a nice sauce but the chicken was lightly drizzled with it. I suggest ordering the teriyaki chicken so it comes with more on it. The chicken is just a tad on the dry side but the portion side is huge so that's a plus!

$9.92 for the inflation special plate, can't beat the price! Delicious food! This is my second time coming here in my 41 years of life. I've been missing out that's for sure. You can order to go, or eat inside or outside. They do have order options I didn't get a chance to take more pictures. So I'll definitely add more when I return.

    Fish and Chips

Came in for the first time after seeing central fish for years. We got shrimp tempura, beef teriyaki and fish and chips. I ate the fish and I was very impressed. For being a land locked fish market it was fresh and I loved the crunch. I love that it wasn't greasy and had great flavor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It isn't fancy here but who cares with how good the food is.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance not great at all but you didn't go there for that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was average. Took a while to get our order, but they were busy & it was close to the end of the day. Do want to note, the guy who cleans the tables was very thorough. Much appreciated! ORDER: Combo Seafood & Tempura w/rice & salad Fish, veggies, rice salad Disappointed that they ran out of clam chowder by 1pm tho. They only have it Friday early it seems. Food was hot & crispy w/out being greasy. Very good overall. Will definitely come back. Store also has sashimi grade fish!

This place has been such an establishment for many decades. It is a staple of the old Chinatown that used to be here in downtown Fresno. What I love is that people from all walks of life come here for some good fish, sushi and groceries. We came here on a weekend day about 1.5 hours before closing and there were only two sushi containers left up front. A staff member said that if we wanted sushi we should come early. We then ordered some fish and chips and sesame balls. The fish and chips were very very basic. The fish was basa and the fries were kind of odd with multiple of them stuck together. The sesame balls were tiny and not what we were used to, but still tasty. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We did enjoy browsing the store, which had gifts, dishes and utensils, fish, and various goodies and treats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was surprised though that an unmarked gourmet bag of candy was $10 for a small bag. That caught me off guard. Overall, appreciate this place still being a staple in the community and holding up the various businesses in the area as well.

I'm not from the area, but from what I'm told, this is a local institution. Central Fish Company has been opened for well over 30 years and has a fresh fish counter filled octopus, scallops, ahi, and what seemed like hundreds of other catch-of-the day items. There's also a produce section with specialty Asian fruits and veg, imported Japanese candies, sauces, noodles, and an entire aisle dedicated to pottery and dish wares. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a small upstairs area where they sell decorations, along with some knives and other tchotchkes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did end up getting some Japanese candy kits for my kids and a green tea and strawberry Kit Kat from Japan. There were super tasty! There's so much amazing stuff in here. I feel like I barely scratched the surface. A second trip is definitely in the works. If you've never been Central Fish Co., or haven't been in a long time, this place is definitely worth the trip.

Central Fish is a Fresno landmark, specializing in fresh fish, Japanese food imports, and just an all around vibe. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The small restaurant attached is always busy especially during Lent![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great food, great service, with a touch of nostalgia

Excellent selection of fresh seafood, ethnic foods and a wide variety of grocery items. A well known store located in Chinatown near downtown Fresno, this store has served the community for years with fresh seafood as well as serving plate lunches just next to the store.

The freshest fish in fresno! The food here is amazing i have been coming here since I was 18 and they still got it. The sushi is fresh every day. For the downtown and west workers this is the spot for the adorable sushi roll. Also the fun Japanese snack, drinks and ice creams are a must! Love seeing this keep up China town and revive the area.

One of my favorite places to come and shop at, they have a lot of Japanese food items that I consistently buy. I love the diversity! Today I ordered a poke bowl and a miso soup, both 100% exceeded my expectations! I've had other food from here but this was very good!! My definite new go to for a salmon poke bowl and now I'm in trouble because I've found a new favorite AND I work down the street from them lol Thank you Central Fish!!

I opted for rice instead of fries to balance all the fried food. The rice was a great choice but I did not expect the serving to be so massive. It was three of each item along with the coleslaw. The container wouldn't even close and it was given in a massive paper bag just to accommodate the weight. Huge serving and very satisfying. My favorite was surprisingly the fish, then shrimp, then oysters. I did not even come close to finishing all the fried deliciousness. Wouldn't order again. Head-On Shrimp: Fried too long so they were hard. Wish they'd been not so hard. Overall, I'm sure many will like this place, but my problem is the batter is too thick & not at all seasoned. This is somewhere between American & Chinese, but doesn't truly lean into either. Lemon or some acidic slaw are essential to cut thru the fried. Ketchup & hot sauce would help. Tartar sauce wasn't great. Having some non-battered/fried options would be really great. Still, I might try them again. Hope they reach their target audience.
