Do not buy a used vehicle here. Do not use the service department here. Our experience with Central Maine Toyota was unbelievably unprofessional, lazy, and not up to safety standards. I would not recommend anyone go here. Save yourself the nightmare, and drive to Augusta. For the nitty gritty of what we went through, read on: We bought a certified used Toyota here, it was a harder to find model and we really liked it, but knew during the test drive that it needed an alignment. We worked with the sales rep to have the service department give it an alignment and full look over before the final purchase went through. The alignment either didn't happen or didn't do anything, though they assured us that it did. So, the next day after purchasing, we were on the phone to set up an appointment the following week for another alignment. My husband drove the new vehicle out of state (instead of taking his work truck) and the window was smashed! Joy. Since we had to bring it back in for service, I called and was quoted for a window replacement. Seems okay, right? Well, this dealership up-charged us to CLEAN UP the broken glass and refused to include that in the service of REPLACING a shattered window... which I've never heard of ever. So bring your shop-vac with you! And on top of that, they had our car in the shop for a FULL WEEK to figure out the "alignment issues" we called everyday to find out when we could get our brand new vehicle back and each person on the line had no idea of the status of our vehicle. Finally we were told it was a caliper and it had been replaced and was good to go. But guess what? The car drove worse than before, squirley all over the road, the steering shaft cocked at all times, and pulling you into a ditch anytime you press on the brake. So, we immediately brought it to a different Toyota dealership, and within 30 minutes their service department noted that not only did we need BOTH calipers replaced we also needed the entire steering shaft replaced and guess what else was needed... AN ALIGNMENT. Oh and the cherry on top, was that the caliper Central Maine Motors put on our certified Toyota with a Toyota warranty (that they gave us!!), was an after market part. How can you say you solved the problem? And how could you in right mind sell us a certified Toyota that does not in fact met Toyota Certified standards?! There has been no apology, refund or accountability from anyone at this dealership. Oh and last thing, that really grinds my gears -- the gaslighting comments made from multiple people here is a sure fire sign that it's a shady business. Asking if we've ever driven an off-road vehicle before since we may not understand "what it feels like" implying again that nothing was wrong with the vehicle they sold us. And the sales rep asking me, a woman, if I could "handle driving this type of vehicle" when I had already explained my previous vehicle was the exact model of this car, but a truck. read more

I recently purchased my used RAV4 hybrid here and I am very happy with the purchase. The start of my experience at Central Maine Toyota was slightly rocky, but once I worked with Lance Libby, I had a great experience. I highly recommend him if you are looking for a sales representative here. When I first stopped by, a sales rep named Chris worked with me, but he was not very knowledgeable about the models or inventory Central Maine Toyota had in stock. He also didn't listen very well when I described what I was looking for, wrote inaccurate notes during our interaction, disappeared several times for no explained reason, and didn't have open body language. He seemed to be much more interested in talking about trucks than SUVs. I knew that he would not be a good fit for me, so I was hesitant to go back to CM Toyota, even though their inventory interested me. After shopping elsewhere, I decided to give it another shot here and the second time I worked with Lance. Lance listened well, wasn't pushy, and created a relaxed and friendly environment. He answered my questions but also gave me space. I also didn't feel questioned by him, he let me describe myself and my car needs rather than trying to figure that out for me. When I called to ask a quick question on Lance's day off, a rep named Dave "answered" my question. He was fairly arrogant and pushy, giving me information that I later learned was incorrect and he encouraged me to put down a deposit on the vehicle I was interested in instead of waiting to work with Lance. Luckily, when Lance was back, I stopped in again and put the purchase into motion. I was able to complete everything on my timeline and exclusively on the days Lance was working after that. I was not rushed and I was able to get what I believe was a great deal for both of us. I ended up being very happy with my purchase! So I recommend going here, especially if you are shopping for used vehicles, because their inventory is better than most other dealerships. The management is motivated to meet their customers budgets and create good relationships with their customers. I would just recommend that you select a sales representative who is a good fit for you because there seems to be a drastic difference in their approaches and experiences. read more

Never coming back, and warning all mutuals to avoid this dealer. I took the day off of work after I booked my appointment online. When I got to the service area they couldn't find my appointment. So I wasted an hour getting there, and wasted a day off of work. They told me the online probably booted me out because the time wasn't available. I asked why I didn't get a notification? He just shrugged his shoulders. After I left I thought to myself I'm really glad I didn't have the car serviced at this dealership because they have a total lack of attention to detail based on my experience. When I got there they told me it was only worth $500.00. BS. Then they gave me some song and dance about how Kelly Blue Book didn't apply and that they would only give me what they could get at auction for it. Needless to say I didn't buy a vehicle from them. Bought the vehicle used in March with 9k miles on it. Since I've owned it there has been this weird clunking noise coming from the back of the vehicle, that has been progressively getting worse. I have searched the vehicle high and low for anything that could have possibly fallen out of a bag and be rolling around. I have also taken all the tools, including the jack out of the rear storage compartment. Finally able to get it in on Thursday, August 31st for an 8 am appointment. By 830ish they called my husband and said it was done that they had wrapped a rag around the jack and the noise was gone. My husband went to pick it up around 10am and heard the noise again. He took one of the service men for a ride and they heard the noise three times. The service man said to leave the vehicle and they would look at it. Around 1 pm, my stopped back by to see if it was done yet. Vehicle hadn't been moved and the lady at the service desk said they only allotted an hour for my vehicle and may not be able to get to it. I called around 215 to see what the plan was. The lady told me it was done and could be picked up. My husband went to pick it up at 3 pm and the vehicle was still on the lift. He waited until 4 and it was still not fixed. Left the vehicle for the afternoon and night for them to look at. On Friday, Sept 1st mid mornings, I called to see the plan. I was told that no one was able to hear or locate where the noise was coming from. Around 4pm that evening I received a call saying it was the left rear shock and that the shock and hardware was ordered and would be in the next day on Saturday but they wouldn't be able to get to it until later the next week, with Monday being a holiday. I was told it wouldn't hurt to drive it so I could pick it up if I wanted. I was already gone for the holiday weekend and told them I would call on Tuesday to make a plan. Called Tuesday morning and was told the parts were in and it would be fixed later that afternoon or the next morning and someone would call me when it was done. Heard nothing Wednesday morning so I called multiple times with no answer or machine to leave message. Finally at 12 noon, I was able to talk with someone whom told me that "it appears the left rear shock and hardware need to be replaced and they were waiting on the parts." Informed the man in service I was told the day before that the parts were in. The man told me everyone was at lunch and he would put a message into dispatch and if I didn't hear back by 130 pm, to call back. Playing phone tag is completely inconvenient when my husband and I are trying to work. By 1 pm they called my husband and said the vehicle was done. My husband picked it up and drove it home, and heard the same noise. After doing some research online, it appears that when one shock is replaced, the other side should be too. I called service, no answer, this time there was a message machine and I left a message for someone to call me back. No one called back so then again, the next day (Thursday) I called multiple times before I was able to talk with a live person. When I told the lady in service I was still hearing the noise and asked why they didn't replace both shocks she told me "warranty only covers one to be replaced and that there was nothing grossly wrong with the left shock but that's where they had pin pointed the noise to be coming from." So my question is: why fix something that is not broke? And why would you think the noise would be fixed?? Having one vehicle, both working full time, with kids in school and sports, this has been completely Inconvenient. The lady in service told me it sounds like I needed to make another appointment and need rental at this time. Later that day, someone had reached out to my husband (whom was very nice and apologetic) saying that she had "received a nasty email from service, saying that the vehicle was still not fixed and we weren't happy." She told my husband that it was be scheduled for Thursday Sept 14th and to be there by 730 am to receive rental and drop vehicle off. I will NOT be paying for a rental. Since 2011, we have bought 5 brand new and one pre owned vehicle(s) from Central Maine Motors and have always had our service done there. We have also referred 4 people to you whom have all bought vehicles there too. Unfortunately, since I have purchased this current vehicle, I have had multiple experiences with the service department that has been horrible. After my warranty is up, I WILL NEVER RETURN TO CENTRAL MAINE MOTORS. read more

5 stars in an understatement, this dealership is THE BEST! I moved 3.5 hours away and STILL drive to Central Maine Motors (Toyota) to get my car serviced there. My ex used to take care of all of my car maintenance needs, so finding a trust worthy mechanic was a high priority when I moved cross country from Southern California. It all began with my 50k mile checkup. I was quoted $380 at Toyota of Nashua (in NH) and when I went to Central Maine Motors they charged me something like $70. I asked how there could possibly be such a huge spread in quotes. The service tech explained to me that most cars come with a checklist of recommended things to be done at 50k, but my car only needed some of those things. For example, I didn't need a new air filter yet (I ended up not needing one until 70k) but essentially, they don't recommend fixing anything unless it shows signs of damage ... IMAGINE THAT?!? Not only that, for larger jobs like replacing my front brakes, their quote came in $200 less than the dealership in Massachusetts right down the street from me. Worth the drive, especially in Fall. Integrity and world class customer service, I really couldn't ask for more. Additional notes: I've used their shuttle service- super convenient! I've stayed in their showroom waiting for service - coffee, snacks, WiFi. Literally, every single person from scheduling to service to the owners, Chris and Charlie (who I interacted with via Chamber, Rotary Club, etc.) I've interacted with has been an absolute pleasure. Central Maine Motors knowingly, put a wrong upper control arm in my 2008 Chevy suburban which caused tire where and my lower ball joint to fail which they refused to replace and charge me to grease it and told me that it fix the issue. I then drove it down to the Kmd Service Center to have them look at it to make sure there was no more play and there was. So they knowingly, put the wrong part in my vehicle, and then lied to me saying that they fix the issue. They charged me $70 to put grease in the ball joint. That was no good. Central Maine Motors will never touch one of my vehicles ever again. I've spent thousands of dollars there they're supposed to be better than everyone else but they're not if you want your work done right take it to Randy at Kmd Service Center. read more

I will NEVER go back here. A year ago I would've sang these guys praises, but they totally pulled the wool over my eyes. I bought a car last March for around $9k. Now one year later the transmission is completely blown. Facing a $4100 rebuild or $2100 Pre-Owned replacement I decided to call CMT. Called the dealership and spoke to the sales manager Jason, explained my frustration and asked what they could do to help us. He said to come up and they'd work with us to get us into a better vehicle and help us take care of the loan. I made it very clear that I did not want to waste my time as I lived an hour south of the dealership and had nothing to put down towards a new car and couldn't really afford much more than my regular monthly payment. They said to come up and they'd help out, trying to find something in my budget. After about an hour and a half of the runaround test driving cars, their example of helping out was offering me $1,000 for my car that I still owe $5500 on and trying to sell me a car for $12,500 (more than doubling my monthly payment). I basically said thanks but no thanks. Interestingly enough the manager I spoke to on the phone did not come out of his office until I was walking. He then continued to explain, in a sleazy condescending way, how when you purchase a "state inspection only" vehicle these are the risks you take. If I had purchased a vehicle at a higher cost it wouldn't have had such issues. He even have the audacity to say I hope there are no hard feelings. Ultimately I cut Jason off saying, this whole "state inspection only" language was never used or explained when I purchased the car in the first place, and that coming up WAS a waste of my time and I would not be returning. Honestly don't ever buy a used car from these guys unless you have a real mechanic look it over. They'll tell you what you want to here and then screw you over. In the end I ended up having to take out a $2000 loan to get a Pre-Owned tranny installed. But that's way better than the $17k I'd be looking at by CMT's idea of "helping me out". read more

This dealership screwed us over so bad. I will admit we were not the smartest used car buyers because we didn't have a mechanic look at the car first. We were so in love with the car that we didn't check basic things we should have. It was stickered. The battery died a week after we bought it. We thought the exhaust was a bit loud but they said it's a sports car and it should sound like that. It was a Pontiac Grand Prix GXP. Now....6 months later from buying it our mechanic says the exhaust system is rotted out and will cost $1800 to replace. He said there is no way it rotted since we bought it. He said they would have seen it when it went up on the lift. We asked CMT to fix it since it must have been sold rotted. They refused. Then we said we wanted to trade in towards a new car...he offered us $2000 for a car we paid $7600 for 6 months ago. So we just left and have to foot the bill for the exhaust work. We are disabled on fixed incomes and they knew this when we bought it. So they knowingly sold us a car needing expensive work. read more
