I like this place. That's downgrade from I like this place a lot, from my previous visits here. I haven't been there in a while, about 7 months. The portions were noticeably smaller since the last time I was there. 1st issue: The runner who bought our apps asked us if we would like our salsa and chips refilled, we said yes. He disappeared and never came back 2nd issue: The taco's tortilla to filling ratios were way off. The tacos were filled about 2/3's less than what I'm used to getting from here. Before they were almost overflowing with filling, not this time. I folded the tortillas, and the filling vanished inside of each one. We ordered the Korean Short Rib Tacos (I think the best taco they have). Barely any short rib on each of the servings we ordered. I can honestly say it looked like about a level teaspoon of meat on each taco. They were just meat, no cilantro, no onion, no scallions, and no toasted sesame. The Quesabirria Tacos were just good, but had the same lack of filling issue. 3rd Issue: The Al Pastor Tacos this time were pretty bad, compared to what Ive had from here in the past. Maybe they were sitting under a heat lamp for to long. The pork was extremely dry, as well at the pineapple chucks. Pineapple is naturally juicy, so this caught me by surprise. The flour tortilla was hard on the edges. These are my my 2nd favorite tacos, also. I will say the street corn, guacamole, and nachos with ground beef, were the stars of this show...... The way the tacos were served, they definitely took a backseat to everything else we ordered. Hopefully this was a fluke, and the next time I go, they don't have the same issues. On top of that, whoever is DJing at 9pm on Friday July 5th is absolutely terrible - the music is so bad it's actually torture for the customers. Ive had nothing but a great experience here, i've been here 3 times so far and never had to wait to be seated. Service has been good and attentive each time. They have indoor and outdoor seating and tons of parking. I got the Central Margarita and thought it was made perfectly, wasn't too strong or too sweet. My favorite items so far would be Mexican street corn appetizer, Quesabirria tacos, and Korean short rib tacos. I personally thought the flavor was the best with those items. We came in at 6:30 on a Saturday night, the waitress wasn't the friendliest or the most attentive. This was our first time here and we were not impressed. We ordered the fajitas without meat which came out extremely small, super spicy and with no condiments, no cheese and no sour cream. We also ordered the Korean short rib which tasted like it was defrosted and thrown on a taco shell. The ambiance was just ok, parking is awkward. I would not recommend this place at all. The service was very good. Our waitress was great. The food and drinks are a bit questionable. The strawberry pineapple margarita didn't really taste like anything. The blood orange margarita was delicious. My husband said the quesabirria tacos were good. I had the shrimp Mexicano tacos and they were so wet they were already soggy. I guess it was oil at the bottom but they weren't great. The Queso was pretty good but the guacamole is just ok. I've made better guacamole at home. Mexican street corn is good. Also the music was blasting. You can't hear anyone talking at your table. You are screaming what? at everyone the entire time haha. So it was just alright. I've been here 3 times and have had a good experience each time. Last time I was here for dinner and the place was SO busy. Our server kept checking back on our drinks and apologized for the wait but it was understandable since it was busy and I know there's shortages with waitresses/waiters. Chicken Tinga Nachos, Mexican Street Corn and a Central Margarita, plus a Blood Orange margarita is what I ordered for happy hour this time around. It probably fits the white suburban palette (being in westmont/collingswood area) but anyone who has had real tacos knows better. The "bro" on the phone didnt know the difference between carnitas and chicken.. one being chicken and one being pork and still gave us the wrong order in the end. They didnt supply enough sides for tacos we had to ask at least twice. Carne asada tacos was a tough rubbery cheap strip steak from. No tenderness, decent flavor tho. People say this place "used" to be good pre covid and inflation but i have a hard time believing that tbh. If you want good Mexican food you don't get it from places like this. I liked Central. It is owned by the PJ's group and they do a good job with their restaurants. The interior is pretty open with a good amount of seating. There is a large bar and it can get loud depending on how many drinks patrons have consumed. There is a lot of wood and some nice murals. I found the space pleasant and festive. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our table on a Sunday night. The place seems to be doing well. My dining partner and myself had soup to start with. Both the chicken tortilla and the street corn soup were hearty, flavorful and not salty. We ordered 2 tacos each and at $3.00 to $4.00 per taco the prices are reasonable. However they are not huge tacos by any means. I had the coconut shrimp and fish taco and they were both tasty. We finished off our meal with churros. For what it is, Central is fun and fine. I heard a good bit of hype for this place and let me tell you, it does not live up to any of it. Sunday lunch not even busy and the service was absolutely abysmal. I had to seek out our food twice and then hunt down the check due to our server being completely MIA sans talking the initial order. Only half the food was delivered and when my wife's salad came it was almost child sized. Food portions are small, my tacos didn't come with any salsa despite requesting the hot one. Gave the hostess my name, she took my number and said about 30mins, we waited less than that. We were seated outside which was perfect. Everything came out at the same time which was fine since we were starving, everything EXCEPT my meal, shrimp and steak taco, but assumed it would be right out. Nope not at all, my 2 guest had already finished there tacos by the time I received mine. And about me receiving my food. The runner (our server only brought us our drinks) comes to the table with my plate, my guest point to me and say it's her meal, she looks at me and places my plate at the edge of the table. That was rude as hell!!! I was really expecting to enjoy this place and come here during summer days when visiting friends, but after how we were treated, that will NOT be happening. It took time to get menus and place our drink orders, but even longer to place our food orders and have it delivered. My burrito arrived less than lukewarm and the side order of Mexican Rice missing. The runner did end up bringing a very small cup of rice, but it wasn't the side listed, and it too arrived less than lukewarm. The only saving grace was that the burrito tasted good. My partner ordered the Mexican Chicken dip, which arrived hot and delicious, his tacos though so so. Central Taco and Tequila is located along a strip of some very good restaurants. Okay YUM! A friend of mine moved over the bridge to New Jersey and has been raving about what she calls "Cherry Hill Margs" for almost two years now. Last weekend I made the trip out of the city for a Saturday lunch at Central Taco and Tequia. A group of three of us had no problem getting a table around 12:15. I was surprised to see how busy the place was already. I started with a strawberry pineapple margarita and it was delicious. I had a few because they were so refreshing, and not too sweet. For food, we shared a bunch of plates. We started with the mexican chicken dip and loved it. We followed that with mexican street corn and nachos. Both delicious too! We finished the meal off with a few orders of tacos. We tried the Korean Short Rib, Coconut Shrimp, Al Pastor, and Fried Avocado. My favorite by far was the fried avocado. I used to eat Mexican in Vegas alot and it would be unfair to compare the 2 areas, but this menu was lame and probably catered to boring haddonfielders. Pineapple habanero salsa is where it's at!! The heat is intense and the sweetness are a great balance to a perfect accompaniment to tacos, chips and even the Mexican street corn. Personally I like the carnitas tacos. My hubby likes the fried avocado and carne asada. The staff is friendly and very accommodating to my hubby's no cilantro preference. My visit here last week was fine, our waitress was great and I always love the atmosphere here. My food however, was not great. We ordered street corn & coconut shrimp tacos. The corn came out almost rubbery? It was very chewy and hard to eat. And for the tacos- each taco had one piece of shrimp on it. Just one tiny piece cut in half and the rest was pineapple. It isn't cheap here, so I was a bit disappointed seeing that. The drinks were amazing as always, the lemon blueberry margarita is my favorite.
