I am going to preface by stating that I have yet to meet anyone who has had a great experience with their contractor enough they they would refer them without any hesitation. However I can say that our experience with Ariel was as seamless as it could have been. We were out of the country for the majority of our remodel, and Ariel had to communicate with us, our designer who moved out of the US right before the remodel started, and our family member who lived nearby and would help to check on things. It's not easy to communicate amongst 3 time zones but Ariel and his crew were able to do this well. A few things that I loved about Ariel and his crew: 1. He gave us a price (not the cheapest and not the most expensive), but he did not stray from it. He tells you exactly what is included in his pricing and what isn't. I compared and interviewed 6 different contractors but realized quickly that they deliberately left things out of their quotes and in the end , the ones who seemed to have lower pricing were hiding some crucial expenditures that would have ended up costing us more in the end. Ariel was direct and honest through and through, and we were able to stick to the budget. 2. His communication is timely. This was important as we were traveling and he insisted on minimum weekly zoom meetings and walk throughs in the progress 3. His crew was fantastic. A few times I had to ask if they could redo some of the finishes to how we imagined it, and they did it without argument or hesitation. 4. I interviewed the vendors with which Ariel works in addition to people who have had their homes remodeled by him, and there were positive reviews across the board. I received glowing feedback both from his vendors and from his clients. Make sure you do this when you are shopping for contractors. 5. He takes care of his crew, and it shows. His clients are happy because his crew his happy. I am not saying that there were no bumps in the road, but Ariel and his crew helped to solve these problems creatively and as a team. We will have to do a second phase of our remodel, and Ariel will be doing this part for us too. As opposed to the first time around when I was anxious about the whole experience, having gone through this experience with him already I can enter it worry free. read more

This review comes a year after the completion of the our home project which included: 1 kitchen and 2 bathroom remodels, addition of recessed lighting, redoing stair banisters, removal of popcorn ceiling (sans asbestos) and soffit ceiling, and redoing a wall which had extensive water damage! Ariel and his team (Carlos, Miguel) have been great to work with. Early on we had set up a dedicated whatsapp chat group for questions and updates, and worked through the best ways to communicate statuses. Due to the pandemic, there were long waits for materials, but once things were available, progress happened quickly. After a big storm a few weeks before we were due to move in, they notified us of the water-damaged wall they found which was pretty serious (that we wouldn't have known otherwise), and gave us a no frills rundown of what our options were. It was great that they were able to catch this before we moved in and had it taken care of quickly. It's been a year since we moved into our home, and we're still enjoying our space a lot. Recently, when we noticed some leaks around a window they had installed, Ariel dispatched his team within the same week to assess and fix it for us. We went with Ariel for our kitchen/great room remodel after getting a few quotes and are very happy with the end result. Ariel wasn't necessarily the cheapest quote we received of the 4 contractors, but he was so great at communicating, following up, and providing a really comprehensive quote/price that we decided to go with him (and he was competitive within the same ballpark price as the others). We originally engaged with Ariel early 2020 but then the pandemic hit and we put our project on hold for a few months. We decided to really kickoff our project in August 2020 and after a few months delay getting permits, we were ready to begin construction after Thanksgiving (end of November). While our kitchen remodel was supposed to take 6-8 weeks, in the end it did take 14 weeks, but I wouldn't credit the extended timeline to Ariel's team as we ran into delays with the city requesting we move the sewer line and then the next available inspection appointment not being until 2 weeks later. Overall we're very happy with how our kitchen came out. Ariel and his team met with us multiple times before starting construction to talk through our plans and give pointers on suggested changes. When we were in the middle of construction he was clear with what steps we needed to do and when (i.e., order cabinets, countertops, and appliances, and finalize finishes, etc.) and had great suggestions for places to shop for all of this where he had his contractors discount at. His team was courteous, clean, on time, and meticulous. Ariel kept us in the loop throughout the project and ensured we weren't surprised at any point in it. We felt he was proactive in knowing what the full scope of work was and so we didn't need to spend additional money beyond what was initially bid (except we did pay more for extras like getting the entire houses old insulation vacuumed and replaced). None of the 'nickel and dime' tactics that I hear complaints about in other construction projects where they give you a low quote but everything is an additional cost. The scope of our project included removing the old kitchen and walls, installing a 20' beam to open the kitchen to the living room, adding a kitchen island, weaving in new hardwood flooring to match the living room and refinishing all, new cabinets, appliances, countertops, tile, electrical, plumbing, drywall, insulation, paint, and finish a laundry space. The team made sure everything was done exactly as we wanted and before finishing went through the space with a fine-tooth comb to ensure everything was perfect. We just completed remodel of 4 bathrooms in our 70's vintage Los Gatos home. We engaged Century Bay Builders after reading great Yelp reviews. Shayna managed our project and Bryon and his crew (Roberto and Iker) did the work along with glass and tile installers and counter top fabricators. Because we lived in the home while the work was being done Shayna broke the project into 2 sub projects. The first was two bathrooms and half bath. The master bath was the second project. Ariel and his team did a phenomenal job for our room + bathroom addition project! He dealt with scope change (room addition became room + bathroom addition), architect change (the architect I had hired was no good, Ariel's architect saved the day) peacefully, calmly and always put our satisfaction in the first place. During construction, whenever we ran into an issue Ariel dealt it with safely and urgently. Our gas pipes around the house were really old and rusted and they broke down during demo. This was a surprise, but Ariel sent a plumber within an hour to help install a safe temporary solution that kept delivering gas to our house so we could get heat in the house at night. His team is very nice, most speak English. They kept the living room and other living areas super clean even during construction. They work with extreme care (we had a countertop Bar marble stone from an existing room sticking out 1 foot in the new construction room. I can't believe that they were able to build a whole room around without ever so much as scratching the marble stone). Ariel was very patitent listening to all our needs, offered very helpful and profession advice to identify potential problems and make the project more cost-effective. When we told him we were going to All Natural Stone (ANS) to get ideas, he met us there and along with Jeff of ANS (who was super helpful too!), helped us come up with and finalize the tile, pattern, trim, accents, etc for our bathrooms. All throughout the process he was extremely helpful with fixture options, tub suggestions, glass enclosures and other details. Construction went quickly considering it was in the middle of the pandemic in fall/winter 2020. As issues arose, Ariel communicated them to us so we could make changes to our plan.
