Love this place! I was just there the other day and it puts a big smile on my face! I loaded up on my Christmas gifts there. The boxed chocolates are so pretty, many of them have the Arizona theme on the package. I love the boxed chocolates for people out of state that have the shapes of cowboy boots, cactus, star etc. it's such a cute gift! many of their candy is loose, individual wrapped and purchased by the pound, which is a nice way to try them. I love the old fashioned appeal of the store and the staff is so friendly, how refreshing to see! I hope they stay there for a long time businesses like this are hard to find! What a fun place to stop at if you are in downtown Glendale. They do free tours at 10 am and 1 pm with included tasty treats! Has a nice atmosphere and staff are very pleasant and helpful. The founder of the factory was working the line during our tour (at the age of 87), which was cool to see. They also have a fun activity afterwards for kids if you're willing to pay a little extra. She sure to try the French mints, which are their specialty. read more

The chocolate was wonderful! The factory was very cute and fascinating to see the old machinery still in use. I was gifted a VIP chocolate tour with chocolate pizza experience. However this was not really a "tour". You stand behind a half wall while a very friendly worker tells you about the history of the company and points out what some of the machines do. However, the machines that we were close to were not even operating. When I asked if we would get to see them working, she said you have to come during the morning tour time. Why even offer an afternoon tour time if you don't get to really see them working then? Our guide was very kind though and tried to answer any questions that we had. If I had paid for the tour, I would have been disappointed as it was not really a tour, more of a short talk. It's possible that this was due to Covid, so it makes sense they would limit where guests can go. I did appreciate that all workers I saw were wearing masks. Making the chocolate pizza was very fun though! And when my chocolate hardened at home later, it was so delicious! read more

We have bought chocolate, toffees, taffees, yogurt covered treats, and a chocolate dipped cheesecake (not all at once, hahaha!) But we have never been disappointed! Cute chocolate factory, similar to our dear Morley's Candy, back in Clinton Township, Michigan. They offer weekday tours of the factory twice a day (10 a.m. and 1 p.m. I think) with no reservations required for parties under ten. I let my girls pick out a bunch of different flavors of chocolate, caramels, and taffy, and the report back is that they were delicious. My son just had the best birthday party ever at Cerreta! Maria did such a wonderful job making it magical day for all the kids and adults. I can't thank her enough!!! She engaged the kids, made them laugh, got them so excited and had a bunch of great activities for them. What a great afternoon! The chocolate, caramels, taffy, mints -- all of it was amazing! Loving the goodie bags and chocolate pizza the day after. We'll be back for sure and I'll be telling everyone about it to host their kids birthdays at Cerreta. The chocolates are amazing and the salt water taffy is so delicious. They whip the taffy instead of pull it so it has all the taste but doesn't stick to your teeth. Great flavors and really nice gift baskets for sale as well. Loved this place. read more

Coming here is a like a time warp. The factory machines have been here forever and the nostalgic feel is everywhere. Oh and they did I mention they make mass quantities of sweets? They make toffee, hard candy, lollipops and a bunch of stuff in between. But let's be honest, its all about the chocolate. I always have a brutal time selecting between the numerous choices on the shelf as there is just too much chocolate awesomeness everywhere. So what do I do? Grab a 1 or 2 pound box of assorted chocolates. The boxes typically run between $10-$20 and they always have special treats depending on the holiday coming up (Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, etc.). You can also grab individual pieces and even buy them by the pound. All while you watch workers in the back make the chocolate from start to finish and wrap it fresh to put on the shelf. There aren't too many places like this around anymore (particularly in the Phoenix area), and its nice to see an old mom and pop candy factory survive and thrive. And of course not to be missed is Cerreta's annual celebration of all things chocolate: The annual Glendale Chocolate Affaire every February. read more

I wish I hadn't wasted my time to drive all the way out to this factory. When I pulled up I couldn't tell if it was open as the parking lot was empty (should have been my first clue). It was about 2p on a Thursday and the factory part was done for the day I guess as no one was working. No free samples just a decades old video going. Oh my gosh it was a treat to pop in on this candy factory. The employees were very friendly as we came in ten minutes before the end of the day so we made our choices quick to let them close. Boxed candy looked pretty but we were drawn to the bins and grabbed handfuls of dark chocolate this and milk chocolate that. Too bad they are all wrapped in plain cellophane and once in the bag you can't tell the flavors apart - but who cares if you chose ones you like anyway? Be sure to keep them airconditioned; the Arizona heat will melt everything in no time. read more

Amazing!!! I took my four boys yesterday. We arrived at 9:40am and there were almost 50 people lined up for the presentation. The lady doing the presentation was great. It's educational, fun and tasty as they give you plenty of samples. At the end of the tour, you can make a chocolate pizza. I'd heard about this place a few times and wanted to go during Glendale Glitters, but was under the impression that it was just a little bit closer to the rest of historic downtown Glendale and couldn't convince my foot-sore friends to make the venture down that way. Finally made a point to go check it out during the Glitter and Glow block Party and was very happy with the experience. They let you try one chocolate and I swear, after that you want to try them all. Friendly staff and a fun nostalgic atmosphere. During the Glendale Chocolate Affair we did the short walk-through tour and found it interesting. Watch them hand dip strawberries, coat almonds and decorate pretzels. I'm impressed by their efficient combination of machinery and human workings. I'm also impressed with their selection of sugar-free sweets and will be back soon to purchase some for my diabetic father. I think it's worth a visit any time you are in the area. read more

I went to Cerreta Candy Company thinking it was going to be a good place to take my 2 kids. Teaching them how candy is made. I was dead wrong. When you hear the word "tour" you normally would think that you would get to walk around and view the machines that make and wrap the candy. Cerretas version of "tour" is standing against a wall while a lady gets on the microphone and talks about the different candy station. My kids, grandmother, and I couldnt even hear this person because the other visitors there talked to loudly and most of the other parents didnt keep track of their kids. We were watching kids run up and down the hall, crawl all around on the floor and rough-house right next to us almost hitting my son. It was the most disorganized place ever. And the lady on the microphone kept repeating herself for instance... "In this corner is creams by Joe and joe was in charge of making the creams and when they came out joe moved the creams to this place, and joe made creams of 4 different flavors and the creams where 4 different flavors." I believe my trip would have been better without making Cerretas one of our stops. read more

I discoverd Cerrets when I moved to Az. in 1978, and have been sending candy to my families in Mn. and Co. They all fell in love with the Ameretta chocolates. Now I am back in my hometown of Mpls, Mn., and am going to order some more for Christmans presents for my families. We "toured" this small, local 40 year old candy factory today with friends. Let me explain. I'm from the Pacific NW, so have never tried this candy before. We were there with about 25 school kids and others totaling about almost 40 people which was a large crowd. We paid $6 each for a "tasting tour". For the tour, we walked down one aisle and back through another to see delectable fudge, coated pretzels, and other slab candies laying on tables to cool. We could see employees leveling candy on their tables. The tour guide then told us interesting facts about the candy making process, where the ingredients came from, and then gave us each 3 pieces of candy. We then went back to the showroom and bought $15-$50 worth of chocolates and got a $2.50 "discount" for the $6 that we paid originally. The candy is great quality and so much less expensive than other name brand chocolates, but we left wondering why they have a fee for the "tour"? Other candy stores don't charge for their tours and still offer samples. Maybe locals would abuse it and come too often for free candy. I did get introduced to this great quality candy and we will now buy it in stores. My favorite is the praline! It is melt in the mouth good. read more
