Never a disappointment here! Their food is beyond delicious, their employees are very friendly, the pricing is fair, and they're pretty quick from ordering to getting your items. Every time we stop by, I'm sure to grab a bag of their amazing sourdough English muffins. I typically go for their north end club, or their certified breakfast sandwich. Both are filling, have great flavor, and are good portions. I don't dare leave without one of their sourdough brownies! It's the most rich and decadent brownie I've ever had in a small cafe/kitchen. It's dense and fudgey and everything you want in a brownie. Such a cute little bakery in a very cute neighborhood! I love everything in Hyde Park, so I wasn't surprised that Certified Kitchen + Bakery would be delicious. We were pretty full when we came by here, so we only got the butterscotch budino. I'm not sure if this is a regular item that they make, but everyone needs to try it!! It was the perfect consistency and the perfect amount of sweet. I need to come back someday on an empty stomach so that I can try more things!! Having lived in the North End for awhile, somehow never hit this spot up. We both got the breakfast sandwich and the reviews were not messing around, it rocked. Coffee was okay, not bad, not great. Snickerdoodle cookie rocked as well. The one thing I didn't love was the white normie/indie/I still get talk about bernie sanders publicly energy this place had, but living in Boise, that is to be expected unfortunately. When I say go to Certified, it's not a suggestion. I'm not saying, "if you happen to be on 13th St. and want some breakfast or lunch, pop in." No, this is a command. You must go if you even remotely like English muffins or baked goods. Go now. If it's the middle of the night, at least you'll be there when they open in the morning and you'll have dibs on the fresh baked goods. Let's start with the sourdough muffins. Made with a starter much older than me, the taste is sour, delicate, and buttery. You can buy these beauties by the dozen to make sandwiches at home. Or just get the Certified sandwich. It's a classic breakfast sandwich that will ruin all breakfast sandwiches elsewhere. Cry for those lackluster Egg McMuffins once you've had one of these. I typically go for the breakfast burrito. Best I've ever had. Sliced potatoes, beans, scrambled eggs without a hint of overcooking. Hot sauce. Balanced seasoning. My only complaint is that I want the thing to be twice the size. Last time in I had a slice of their apple pie. Wowza on those tart apples and bold spices nestled in a perfect crust. Again, they're ruining me for other bakeries. But I like it. Coffee by a Boise favorite: Form and Function. I'd avoid the weekends if possible because the joint is small but the demand is LARGE. Certified gets a slow clap from this Yelper. Join in! read more

Nice spot. The oatmeal dried cherry cookies are at a whole different level, and worth traveling a great distance for that alone. I ding the star because after ordering the stacked veggie sandwich on 9-grain bread (the way it's presented on the menu), I found in the bag a half hour later a curried cauliflower wrap featuring a snow-white (!) flour tortilla. I had been excited for the 9-grain bread and was so crestfallen facing this new bland reality. I called back to Certified to see if it was a mistake, and was genuinely surprised by the dismissive treatment I received. According to the woman who answered, it was no mistake -- this was the seasonal offering for that menu item. I mentioned that it would have been better to know that earlier at the time of ordering, and her answer was one word -- 'yes'. An ounce more understanding or, heaven forbid, a friendly apology, would have helped to send me on my way a happier camper. Nevertheless, we did pass back through Hyde Park a few days later and cleared them out of the oatmeal cookies to share with folks back home. read more

Their coffee cake is one of a kind - make sure to get there early on the weekend to ensure you get a slice, or call/order ahead of time. Everytime I bring my family the place is packed in the best way, baked goods are amazing, coffee is great! Carrot cake is 10/10 and the breakfast sandwiches are 4/5. I thought this place was about 3.5 stars. I ordered one of the breakfast sandwiches and while the English muffin was definitely great, the egg was overcooked and not very good. An overcooked egg is pretty much a deal breaker when it's the main aspect of the sandwich. Also got the brownie cookie, which is insanely rich and too sweet, but I found it's 100% better when chilled in the fridge. Any time of day, Certified's breakfast sandwich is some of the best eats you can get in Hyde Park. It's really all about the English muffin! Seriously the best English muffins you can find and you can even buy a whole bag of them at the counter! Apart of their All Day Breakfast - The certified is an egg, arugula, white cheddar, and creme fresh sandwich ($7.50) and then for an extra $2 add all the extra goodies -- bacon, avocado, and tomato! It's the flavor and texture combination of the loaded certified that makes it the perfect breakfast sandwich. The arugula is peppery and the freshness balances out the decadence of the bacon, egg, and cheese. And once again, their homemade English muffin acts as the perfect vessel for all this goodness. All the baked goods here look so delicious! I don't know how I've fought off the temptation but when I do give in I'll update y'all on if they taste as good as they look. Certified is the perfect spot to pick up some food and drinks for a picnic at Camelbacks or in the foothills. There are grab n go salads, hummus, egg salad, beets + kale, Mediterranean farro, and the curry cauliflower potato salad which speaks to me on a spiritual level! Grab some white claws or bottle of champagne and you have everything needed for a picnic date! They also have some pre-made meals that you can pick up and finish up at home -- chicken pot pies, veggie lasagna, veggie enchiladas, and family sized Mac & cheese! Wish I had taken pictures before I obliterated everything I bought, but I can tell you that everything was awesome! The standout was the sour cream brownie. So dark and rich and fudgy. I'm convinced that one bite of this monster is the equivalent of at least one cup of coffee. I also tried the glazed donut bread, which did not remind me even a little bit of a glazed donut, but I did not care because it was awesome. To round things off I got one of their classic sprinkle cookies because it reminded me of my childhood, the flavors and the nostalgia were both there.
