    Chicken salad sandwich

Moved away and had to come back for this sandwich! Certified I missed you never change

I find myself at certified at least twice a week. A staple in Hyde park you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. From their handcrafted sandwiches to their coffees, desserts and prepackaged snacks for picnics certified makes their food with love. My favorite is the French style pancakes, which of course is a crêpe, just by a different name. They serve it with Nutella and fresh berries, and it is to die for. Their baked goods and pastries are 10 out of 10 delicious their Star cookies and the sourdough brownie are some of my favorites. they do have gluten-free breads and desserts so it is a gluten-free friendly place. they do not have much indoor seating at all. They do have a very small bar top with some barstools, but it gets very crowded during the busy time. I recommend getting your food to go and sitting at one of the tables outside. To me, certified kitchen and bakery, represents a successful neighborhood café/lunch spot. They have great options for just about everyone. A great spot if you're going to picnic at Cammile's back or bringing a friend from out of town who's visiting or just picking up breakfast or lunch on your way to the office. I highly recommend.

Certified breakfast sandwich with bacon and avocado added

I've been here twice now, and both times I've walked away genuinely impressed. The Certified Breakfast Sandwich is a winner--super filling with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Special shoutout to the bacon: perfectly cooked, not too crispy and definitely not limp. Just right. The staff is consistently friendly and impressively efficient, moving long lines quickly without making anyone feel rushed. While the restaurant doesn't have much indoor seating, it's easy to grab your sandwich and head to the nearby park or one of the many benches along the street to enjoy your meal. This spot is quickly becoming a favorite. Simple, satisfying, and run by a team that clearly cares about both the food and the customer experience.

Matcha (Extra Shot & Less Milk) + Star Chip Cookie

Usually come here for the breakfast items but, wanted to try some of the sweets. The Breakfast burrito, grain bowl, and sandwhiches are all amazing and fresh to order. The Matcha isn't ceremonial but is a local business, I added an extra shot of Matcha and less Milk. It's okay but, recco to add a bit of sweetener since it comes out to be a bit bitter. The cookie was chewy on the inside and crispy on the edges. Love the addition of pecans and the folds bring more texture to the cookie. The service is great, tons of staff working tirelessly to get orders out. There's a few chairs on the side. Will be back again!

I'd heard some rumblings about this place and their low key tasty breakfast sandos. Well those rumblings need to be shouted out loud because these guys sling a mean one. Team behind the counter were full of smiles and kindness. This place is a must try.

Don't let the line out the door deter you, it's worth it 100%. Loved my breakfast sandwich! And the English Muffins I took home were delish.

I preordered a tuxedo cake. I'm so glad I preordered because that place was PACKED! The cake was delicious, not too sweet. The service was great as well. I can't wait to try some other treats from here!

I'm obsessed with this place! From the lattes to the sandwiches to the baked goods, everything is soooo good. You have to get a starchip cookie! Heads up, this place really is best enjoyed to go! It's order at the counter and there is not nearly enough seating for how popular they are. Nevertheless, I'm loyal to Certified!

Cool spot for a casual coffee and breakfast sandwich. Coffee was good and well made. Breakfast sandwich had a really good English muffin and savory bacon but at $11, was a bit on the pricey side so dock one star. Overall pretty good.

Our friend who used to live in Boise recommended we come here for lunch because it was her "go-to spot for when friends visit." Boy, was she right!! This place was incredible. The ambience is so cute, very vibey with cute trinkets for sale and a table of cool cookbooks. The prices were great, the people were very friendly. There wasn't too much seating, but we found some stools at the counter to sit on. The sandwiches were out of this world. They tasted so fresh, the bacon was so tasty. The bread itself was absolutely amazing, it tasted so homemade. Apparently they use a 50 year old sourdough starter for their bread and some baked goods. The star shaped cookie was delicious, great texture. So good can't wait to come back here again. 10/10!!

While once our 'go to' for bread and baked goodies when we discovered them about ten years ago, we have found in the last two years that Gaston's seems to be struggling with consistency in all of their breads and pastries. It is like seeing a friend ailing without ability to help. Also where we once experienced Gaston's as the 'go to' of quality restaurants for bread it now seems many are using another local baker, Acme, which is the one we chose most often too for consistent top quality. I hope Gaston's finds their groove again. We no longer recommend it to others as the first choice.

I spent part of my childhood living in Asia and Africa, in countries colonized by the French. As a…read moreresult, I have a strong affinity for French pastries, and breads. Owner Mathieu Chou originally owned La Café de Paris, located in downtown Boise, which closed years ago. I have fond memories of trying my first pate there, served with cornichons. I was sad to see the café close, but I was elated when Mathiu opened Gaston's. Mathieu is a classically trained French baker who has turned making bread into an artform. Gaston's Bakery is a large commercial kitchen with a small retail area open from 9 AM to 2 PM daily. They sell out fast, so the earlier you get there, the better. My favorite bread in the world is Gaston's Country White Boule ($6.95). Country White is a traditional French bread that is crusty, has a soft white crumb, and is slightly tangy, like a milder version of sourdough. Country White makes fantastic sandwiches, toast, and French toast. It's perfect for eating with a nice hot bowl of soup, stew, or anything else you want to serve it with. I cannot recommend this bread highly enough. It comes sliced and unsliced. I prefer to buy it sliced because the bread is so wide that it can be hard to cut it straight. I always ask for a couple of extra bags and freeze part of it. it freezes as well. I get this item EVERY SINGLE TIME. I also got a Kouign Amann and a Ham & Swiss croissant: Kouign Amann ($4.30) is "a sweet Breton cake made with laminated dough. It is a round multi-layered cake, originally made with bread dough, containing layers of butter and incorporated sugar, similar in fashion to puff pastry albeit with fewer layers." If you haven't tried one yet, I highly recommend you do. You can get them a few places in town, but these are my personal favorite. Ham & Swiss croissant ($4.35) - Gaston's makes my favorite local croissants. If you want one that is savory and filling, I recommend trying the Ham & Swiss croissant. It is outstanding! If your idea of a great ham and Swiss croissant is the La Boulangerie brand sold at Costco, try this instead. It will change your life. Highly Recommended!!! Location: 3651 W. Overland Rd. Hours: Open from 9 AM to 2 PM Daily. They also do curbside service. * There are a number of local businesses where you can find Gaston's products, which are noted on the website.

I have driven by this shop a million times but never got the chance to make it in. After checking out all their photos and goodies off their website, making my way in today was a must. The shop is very small and intimate. You are immediately greeted by all the goodies as soon as you walk in. Colorful macarons, the cutest cheesecakes and beautifully displayed scones and muffins. The display case is nice and bright, allowing you to be able to see the details and coloring of each macaron. The pretty piping on the cheesecake. The fun layers of the cakes. It was hard not to want one of each thing out of the case. It was our first visit for my daughter and I. As a new customer, you're trying to absorb everything about this store. You want to look at all your options! The gal that initially was going to help us pretty much just stood there and stared at us. Didn't really talk to us. Didn't ask if we had any questions. She had the most unpleasant look on her face. It honestly made me feel so unwanted and uncomfortable to be at the shop. I offered to let another customer go ahead of us so she wasn't just standing there waiting for us to order something. The second customer also needed some time. Finally a gentleman came in and she got him some coffee started. Another gal was working and she helped us. At that point, I was so turned off about getting anything but we were already there so we decided to grab a few things. My daughter and I decided to share a 6 pack of macarons. We snagged lemon, birthday cake, coffee, chocolate, creme brulee and cookies and cream as our flavor choices. She also got a red velvet cheesecake for us to share after dinner tonight. On our ride home, we broke that box of macarons open and had to try them all. The lemon was sweet and tangy, I love the lemon custard in the middle. Birthday cake reminds me of a pink frosted animal cookie. The chocolate was my favorite! Very chocolate forward and sweet. Coffee reminded me of a vanilla latte in cookie form. Cookies and cream was much like cookies and cream ice cream. More cream forward and less chocolate cookie. Creme brulee had sugar toasted on top which created a slight bitterness to the cookie but it was balanced with how sweet the cookie was. All 6 macarons were fabulous! I look forward to having the red velvet cheesecake after dinner tonight. I like that there are so many gluten free options at this bakery. I adore how petite and prettily decorated the pastries were. I appreciate that this joint is local as I love supporting local businesses. But, first impressions are so huge for me and my first impression of their customer service wasn't there for me. You can push out great products all you want but how you make someone feel during their purchase can make or break your business. As fantastic as my macarons were, all I can think about was how uncomfortable I was when I was just being stared at. Macarons and cheesecake can be purchased at a few joints in our valley. I'm happy I got to enjoy some goodies with my daughter but I'm going to go support another local business that will actually make me feel like a valued customer and not a bother.

Headed to gym event, but needed doughnuts haha! Did they have them? Nnnnnnope! Made me very sad. This place sells their cookies in WinCo and I think Whole Foods. Their cookies are RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING! I could easily eat a bag of 8 in probably half a day lol. Then I'd get all depressed because my bikini wouldn't fit right :( So when I asked about the doughnuts she said they haven't been making them and I think she said it was because of staffing issues. Thanks to the virus and people now refusing to work because the government is giving them too much in unemployment, this is the case with way too many restaurants, bakeries, etc. That's my subtle jab at the current government and what they're doing to the country lol! So I left without doughnuts BUUUUT I did buy a bag of cookies. The same bag I could have bought at WinCo or Whole Foods. She said basically everything they did that morning was make the cookies for the stores and she watched them leave to take them to the stores. Exciting! I felt all guilty as soon as I bit into one of the cookies but OMFG THEY ARE SO GOOD! Have y'all ever been to a crumbl? If you have one where you live GOOOOO! This places cookies are basically they lower calorie version of Crumbl because some Crumbl cookies have 850 calories in ONE cookie hahahaha! Is it worth it tho? Absolutely lol So are these cookies, but if you are trying to watch your calorie intake then maybe stay away because you can tear through a bag of these with ease. Chocolate crinkle and snickerdoodles are my go-to's! Ooooooh! Ok, y'all, WTF is with the twist ties you used to tie up the bags of cookies? STOP using those! They are literally THE WORST! I'm sure they're cost effective but stop! I'm also sure with selling to those two major grocery stores plus selling them in your bakery that you can absolutely afford to use better ties, ones that we can actually open and reuse vs these where you can't just open them, you have to cut the top of the bag and then basically...the bag is useless after that. I know this sounds petty, but ugh they're they worst! Aside from that, this place is super nice. It's in a very weird location tho, I was surprised by that. It's like the only sit down place on this street. Across from them is a warehouse of some sort, half a block up are homes, it's just seems like it would be better on the north end, or NW Boise, basically anywhere other than where it is lol. The staff is super sweet, the ones that were there lol. I'll definitely be going back. Glad my first experience there was a decent one even if they didn't have doughnuts for my heffa ass hahahaha! Thanks for reading, Yelpiiteees! Cheers!

I was pulling onto Orchard by the Idaho Youth Ranch and saw their sign. I needed to stop in and see what kind of goodies they had. Walking in, you're greeted by their menu. Lots of goodies to choose from. I appreciate that this bakery uses gut friendly sourdough. My friend who I normally buy my sourdough from decided to take a break from baking. So now I'm trying to find someone who can compare to her delicious sourdough. The store is awkwardly set up. Racks separating the bakery from the store front. If someone is standing in front of the bread rack, you're pretty much stuck until they move. The front of the bread rack is what leads to the front door. But, as congested as it was, the racks and shelves were perfectly stocked loaves of sliced sourdough bread, cookies and rolls. It was overwhelming trying to check everything out without fearing you might bump into someone. They only had a couple options for the sweet goods, I honestly thought there would be more for Valentine's day. There were quite a few options of savory goods. The lady behind the counter said they had a late start so that could possibly be why there weren't many sweets available. I did grab a red velvet cinnamon roll and some chocolate chip cookies for a couple of my Valentines. I was interested in getting a loaf of sourdough for my husband. The only loaves they had available were kinda small. I was hoping for something bigger loaf that would last us for more than meal. The cookies were a hit with my family. I did have some of my daughter's red velvet cinnamon roll. It was killer. The cinnamon roll was soft and flavorful from the chocolate. The frosting on top added an extra touch of sweetness. I only had a couple bites but I could have polished it off easily. Not gonna lie, those 2 things I got were pricey. The singular cinnamon roll was 7+ bucks. It was a decent size but pricey for just 1 roll. The cookies were 4 to a package and at a similar price point or more. For those 2 items my total was 20 bucks. With people budgeting their money now a days, bread and pastries from this joint would be considered a luxury. People want a good amount of bang for their buck. What I got today was good but I don't see myself coming regularly when there's other local bakers that can make the same product for a portion of the cost. My interaction with the gal behind the counter was ok. She was more chatty with a couple regular guests. I'm happy I got to stop into this local bakery and grab a couple things.
