The water borders undrinkable & the limp strings of raw potatoes they tried to pass off as hash browns were beyond disappointing, but the service is the real issue here. Well 3 people $65 +$10 tip wow! Spendy. Food ok servers so so not busy when we were there but too a bit.i guess the big reason for my 2 star was price for what you got plus the smell of sewer when seated near the back of the restaurant we had to ask to be moved near the front door! One of my favorite breakfast meet up places. Waitstaff is friendly. Breakfast selections suit any craving.

The smell was overwhelming, like walking into a cloud of Febreeze, like Several cans had exploded. It was so strong and chemical that it gave me an instant headache and made it impossible to enjoy the place. I couldn't stay more than 10 minutes, and the scent stuck with me the rest of the day. Came into the original sunrise café this morning to have breakfast. I tried the works omelette with keto. Hashbrowns which consisted of cauliflower egg and cheese and fruit. The service we received was excellent. The restaurant inside was clean and the staff is friendly. Highly recommend this for your breakfast needs. I went in because I needed a warm fuzzy after some bad news. Kinda rude when I walked in by myself, and the young lady walked up to me and asked how many are with me..? I looked around and said, "Just me." When she pointed towards a table by the door, I asked for another table and pointed towards an empty table. Ordered Chicken Fried Steak, eggs over easy, and 1/4 biscuit with gravy, hashbrowns, and of course coffee... The steak was half its size. The gravy had lumps of flour. Eggs were fair. The biscuit was a whole dry biscuit drowned in gravy... and the coffee... It wasn't even a meh... The server was the same as last time I had been there, only she was nicer. She actually thought I was a newbie...lol, but in conversation, I said I was a 7th generation that grew up in snow and cold, and it didn't bother me. However, last time was September, I was waiting for my son C (he's a big boy) to join me for lunch. I picked a corner booth because of my disability. My son was late, and I believe they the staff thought I was wasting their time... they asked me to move to a smaller table so that the corner table could be used in case a large group might come in. While I was waiting... they seated a couple in the booth I had been in who only had coffee. Then my big son came in with his co-worker. The waitress had a shocked look on her face. I ordered a chefs salad through DoorDash and it arrived in the expected time. I have been ordering this Chef salad for close to 2 years and it has always been really good and plentiful except the last two times which I considered that maybe it was just a bad couple of days.,. The first thing I noticed with this order was there wasn't an egg cut up in it and there were no tomatoes. I carefully dug through the salad and found teeny, tiny diced tomatoes. These are so small and scarcely in the salad that you literally can't taste them. The salad wasn't as much as before either. The Turkey and ham slices seemed less as well. Had a great breakfast this morning. Place was not busy and plenty of street parking. Yeah back to school! Our server Manny was great. He was very attentive and kept our coffee and diet Coke full. The entire restaurant is in bad need of an upgrade so these things combined, did not set a good stage to start. I ordered a scramble with over medium eggs. I received over easy eggs at best and either the oil the scramble was cooked in, or the griddle was going rancid. And everything felt very rushed. Not to mention the pancakes were doughy. Our waitress was Peyton and she was the best! She was kind, courteous, knowledgeable of the menu, and she kept the hot coffee top-offs coming (NICE!!). She was also very funny, which is not a requirement of good service, but we sure got a kick out of her. We visited the Sunrise Cafe specifically to try the month-long St. Patrick's specials, the Guinness pancakes and the corned beef eggs benny. Leapin' leprechauns, my friends, these specials were off the chain. Huge fan. We've never been to the Sunrise Cafe before. I hate that it took me stumbling across an ad on Facebook to get us here. My friends must be holding out on me, not wanting to give up their secret to one of the best hidden gems here in the Treasure Valley (hey, I get it, because getting seated right away on a Saturday morning was quite a delight). This was just down the street from our rental. A friend recommended it and it was a good choice. My daughter got the cinnamon roll with eggs, bacon, and cute juice bottle with a character. I got the breakfast burrito, and my husband got the breakfast with eggs, toast, and bacon and potatoes. Staff was really nice and food came out in a reasonable amount of time. There were quite a few mistakes in our order. My husband added extra toast and I added avocado to my burrito (both were not given to us), and I had to make sure the charges were removed. My daughter wanted an apple juice character bottle and she was given a fruit punch. Not a deal breaker, and the lady was happy to fix our bills, but just so advice for having a little more accuracy. I rated this restaurant a 4 Star review only because my food was at least 20 minutes later than the rest of my party of 6. I ordered the Gluten free blueberry pancakes which took a very long time. Had I known - I would've skipped this item when ordering. They were, however, very very good! The other dishes ordered was steak and eggs, the breakfast burrito and the spicy omelet. The children's pancake breakfast were huge. Their food portions were big and you definitely didn't leave the restaurant hungry. The waitress Mandy was simply delightful, efficient and very apologetic for the slow gluten free order. She even gave a discount of almost $7.00 off the bill for the late order. Would I go back again? Definitely! As I know things like this happen from time to time. My only recommendation would be to have management staff the restaurant appropriately on a Sunday morning. Thought we'd try this Original Sunrise restaurant. Very rustic inside, wasn't crowded, service was ok, but on the slow side. Had to ask for refills on coffee and water. While we were eating one of the waitresses was working on putting silverware packets together. She had extremely long fingernails and kept scratching her head and face and went right on with making the packets...let's say not very appetizing to watch.
