For a place with some good tacos, the staff is always stuck up and slow, the attitudes they cary make you afraid to ask for anything other than exactly what is in the menu. I would say the food quality hand been continuously goi g down hill, but still pretty good. This place used to be a Portland staple, but it continues to go down hill and as WAY overpriced. I would suggest a food cart up on 2nd a lot more. The tacos are less than half price for the same size, and all the veggies are fresh. Sorry Cha Cha Cha.... Your time has passed. Update... I just waited almost 10 minutes for an appetizer.... Before our tacos... link how many people are here... why would you offer appetizers that take longer than the main dish? Third time here in the last 6 weeks, good food, bad service. The woman was direct and not horrible. The young kid didn't answer me the first time I asked, then in a smartass voice he said.... "We will bring them to you table.... And didn't... cheers

Yummy. Came here with a large group and the food here was really good. I had the Mole Poblano and discovered the mole is homemade and made in house. The chicken was tender, the sauce was rich, the rice was fluffy and the beans were good. I don't think the tortillas are homemade but that was ok. The prices were still good compared to the cost of everything rising and the service was friendly and fast. Our orders came up pretty quickly. They are family owned and that is a bonus and it was nice to talk to the owner's daughter who was working the front taking orders. The only thing that I thought was missing was a salsa/jalapeño pickle/radish bar. That is always something I look for in my most cherished Mexican food spots but they were still great.

Mexican food is not my favorite and so despite it being a popular Mexican joint I hadn't tried them before ever until an out of town friend suggested we grabbed dinner here . The restaurant is at a great location and has a welcoming vibe . The owners/ staff was friendly and gave good suggestions. They have a café style ordering process where you order and pay at the counter and they get you the food once ready .We sat outside because there is only so many Patio days you get in Portland . Lots of wooden tables and chairs both inside and out. The food and drinks came out fast. I was surprised by the small portion sizes of the chips because generally it tends to be a bigger bowl . we got a few varieties of tacos and quesadilla along with a couple cocktails . Food was average in my opinion -filling and not too expensive as is the norm these days .The drinks are kickass though . Service was good and very friendly .

I've been going to Cha Cha Cha for over 10 years & I've never had a bad experience. The employees are friendly, the food is delicious, & the restaurant itself always has so much character. They repaint the exterior often and always keep the place looking fresh. There are live plants that look healthy and a handwritten menu board. You can tell the owners take pride in their business. I'm always served quickly and the guacamole is fresh every time. I personally enjoy the taquitos dorados but nothing on their menu disappoints!

Delicious meal of fish and chicken tacos with a cheese quesadilla!

This is our go-to place for delicious Mexican food in a warm and inviting space. Staff is kind and welcoming and the food is awesome!!

I have eaten here at least 25 times over the years and today I ordered a steak taco that was the smallest taco you can get anywhere in the city for $4.50. When I inquired because I thought it was a mistake I was informed that that's the size. Too sad. Last time I come to eat here.

This is the Chile Verde bowl.

Both the fish and the prawns were cooked in a red sauce that was delicious! I meant to ask for blue corn tortillas but was so excited to find shrimp & fish tacos that weren't deep-fried that I forgot to ask for them. The regular corn tortillas were excellent, though, so it was not a bad mistake to make. I also had jamaica to drink and let me tell you... it was not made from a mix! It was dark, thirst-quenching, and perfectly made. Most jamaica is super sweet - this was not! I love the flavor of real hibiscus and this did not disappoint. My friends had chile relleno bowls and birria tacos, all of which was excellent. Their watermelon margaritas were tasty and refreshing! Our orders were taken by a helpful person at the cash register and the food was served quickly by a friendly server. The inside and outside areas were clean and tidy, with plenty of seating available at the outside tables. The outdoor seating area is under cover making it a good choice for both summer & winter dining. Definitely going on my "have to go back and try something else" list!

We ordered the Quekas with vegan chorizo and black beans and they were SO good, honestly a standout. The chips and guac were also a hit, and I loved that the guac was actually cold. Such a small detail that makes a big difference. The Citrus Salad was super fresh, crisp, and delicious, which balanced everything out perfectly. I also tried the NA classic margarita and it was so refreshing. I loved the subtle touch of orange juice. Overall, such a lovely spot with amazing food, great vibes, and thoughtful details. I will definitely be back!

For the amount of food and the overall experience, I thought it was a great way to experience the restaurant. Ángel took care of us and made the meal even more memorable by telling us the story and inspiration behind each dish as it came out. It made the tasting feel like much more than just trying a bunch of different dishes. I'm definitely a carnivore and usually feel like a meal needs some kind of meat, but surprisingly, my favorite dish was the mole with eggplant and rice. The mole was delicious, and I genuinely didn't miss having meat on the plate. I would happily order that dish again exactly as it was. The tomates en salsa arabe were another standout. I really enjoyed how fresh the dish tasted, especially with the seasonal tomatoes they were using. I also had the carnitas tacos, which had great flavor and texture. For dessert, we had what was essentially a fried concha, and I loved that it wasn't overly sweet. It had just the right amount of sweetness for me and was a great way to finish the meal. Overall, I highly recommend doing the full tasting menu at República. For around $40 per person, you get to experience the entire menu, and if you're lucky enough to have Ángel there to walk you through the stories and concepts behind the dishes, it makes the experience that much better.

Today my wife and I enjoyed scrumptious Tacotes, one chicken and one Bok Choy with house made salsa. Also, the Tetela de Requeson, maiz, beans and sprouting broccoli with a house made requeson - kind of like ricotta cheese - very beautifully plated and so delicious. Extra side of yummy and creamy black bean frijoles with sour cream, butter, tortillas. Instead of desert, the Mezcal, chile and lime was refreshing. Right now open for lunch Thursday through Sunday 10-3pm. No fixed menu, changes with what's fresh - the way chef Angel loves to cook respecting what is in season. Service and ambiance is friendly and knowledgeable about the food and its origin - another reason I love dining here so I learn about what I'm eating and how it was inspired. Yes, the food plated looks so good, I am inspired to dig in. There's a reason it was recognized early in its start by Eater, Portland Monthly and the Oregonian as one of the best restaurants in the city because foodies seek out and love to go where the food experience is special - especially the chef tasting menus in the past. Now I'm watchful and ready to go back and see what the chef Angel is serving up. What else is so special is Republica was a James Beard award nominee too!
