Came here with the boyfriend yesterday and was blown away by the food and the service! We both ordered a shot of tequila, and shared a steak quesadilla and the fish of the day. I can't remember the name of the fish of the day, but it was so amazing! My bf said that every time he gets that dish here it's always really good. My quesadilla was really yummy too, and went great with the side of fresh guac we got! What stood out the most was the great service we received by richmond?? I can't remember his name, but he was so helpful and accommodating to all of our requests! He gave us fresh chips and salsa to take home, and helped us package our small remaining guac. He also helped us tweak some of our orders, and covered our food when we went to the car so it wouldn't get cold. Cha Cha is lucky to have him as a server! This place has great food and a super fun atmosphere but my reservation was a nightmare. I called at 11:10 AM on Saturday (yesterday), 10 minutes after they opened. I asked to make a reservation for 13 at 11 AM for Sunday, and the person on the phone said they're fully booked for big parties already so recommended 12:30 PM. I confirmed that I wanted that, he took down my full name, and I told my friends to come at 12:30 PM. Sunday (today) rolls around and at 11 when they open I call to update my reservation number. They said they don't have my name down and that I might've called the Irvine location. I was in complete shock! I checked my call log and I called the same exact number yesterday; our call lasted 4 minutes so I know I for sure made a reservation. I don't know what happened but I called back and talked it the manager. He said he would try his best to help. I asked him if coming in at 11:40 AM would help with placing our party number down (now 10 people). He said yes so we came and put our number down to help with the wait time. When we got there the hostess at the front said that we had to basically wait for the current party of 10 already seated to take their spot, so it would take around 1 hr to 2 hrs depending on how long they eat. I was confused...why cant we take the next available seats?? But I was patient. 10 minutes after we started waiting we updated the number to 8 people. I came back around 12:30 with my friends. As I was waiting I saw a TON (like 4-5 parties) of 2-3 people parties go in...who came after us btw...it didn't seem like they were trying their best to seat us even though we placed our number down at 11:40 AM!!!! They only wanted to seat us after a current large party has left. Why didn't we get the option of splitting tables or getting smaller tables close to each other?? We waited until almost 2 PM to finally be seated after a party of 16 was leaving. My original time that I came in to put our number was 11:40 AM. 2 hour wait for a party of now 8 people. Incredible. The manager I spoke to on the phone took down my name when we spoke earlier in the morning and knew my whole situation, but still seemed to not help with any accommodations. I can't believe I waited over 2 hours for only 8 people. If I didn't call to update the number then all of us would've came without a reservation!! The food was good, my server was good, which I gave one star. But the hostess messed up and the manager didn't do anything to help with our situation at all. I would recommend coming here when you have a smaller group since they seem to accommodate them better. read more

I called at 430 to make a reservation for 3 for my husbands birthday I got the reservation as we get there we sit for 15 mins no server around I start looking around and Ashley comes by takes drink order I ask for water and she never brought it out. I told her we wjere ready to order we order food is always delicious here the best. I ask her for a mango margarita she brings it I ask for water again and brings a pitcher and says oh u need a cup we finish I'm waiting for his birthday dessert anything and she didn't acknowledge the fact that thats why I made the reservation very upset at this experience but not sure if I would go back she upset me so much. The service is great and the food is delicious! Also, if you're in the mood for soup, or even if you're not, I recommend the seafood caldo. I've had different food items from here, but their seafood caldo is by far the best thing I've tasted there hands down! They also have angel hair pasta in it and serve it with a freshly made flour tortilla. I couldn't finish it all so I had to take the rest home, but that's okay. I get to enjoy it later. read more

Really great dinner and service! I went for my birthday and it was packed but we were still seated just a couple minutes after the time we reserved. They had nice outdoor seating for my family and I. A ton of super cute dogs walking down Birch street which I loved! But if you want a pet free environment indoor seating might be best for you. Appetizers came out really quickly even though they were so busy. The entrees took a little longer but it wasn't an issue since we had our apps and drinks. Haven't been to cha Cha's for awhile. Let's start the night by saying they no longer take reservations during COVID-19. Wait time was 30mins to get seated. When we did get seated it was under a pretty loud speaker blasting authentic jams. Then it took another 10mins to get drinks and chips. Pretty slow restaurant performance. Food came out about the same time as we were running out of chipsNsalsa so timing couldn't have been better. I asked the person delivering the food for more chips. His response was."she's coming back right now". The task of relaying this message to our server seemed like it was beneath him to have to get us chips. This gentleman needs better training period. So by time I asked the second person for chips I was down to one taco left. Bottom line step your game up cha Cha's. Also the tables in the normal patio space are not 6ft apart. Might want get a more accurate tape measure. read more

First time here. I'm giving it a 5 because I loved the environment and live music plus the 50% off tacos. Food is about a 3 star, some things were overpriced like the enchiladas for 17 dollars. With the 50% off the 6 tacos and a soda the total price was 23. The side of guacamole was 4 dollars. I tried the chicken, carnitas and steak tacos. I wasn't a big fan of the food. Hooray for restaurant week in OC! Getting sweet deals while trying new places. I ordered the salmon in the chipotle honey glaze and it was fabulous! Sweet, tangy, not spicy (if you're concerned) the moist and tender salmon was surrounded by the lovely chipotle flavor. Why can't I cook salmon like this? The salmon was laid across roasted potatoes, no veggies, which I would rather have had. I also had the pozole soup which had a small amount of chicken and a lot of hominy. I liked it and as a starter, the portion was acceptable. However, if I were to just order soup, I'd find it rather small in my opinion. We celebrated a birthday and enjoyed a petite, creamy flan for dessert. My friend was very happy with her flan. What about the chips, you ask? Acceptable but not amazing. I like light, thin, crispy, warm chips that are freshly made (give me El Chollo chips, any day) and these were more run-of-the-mill chips, but adequate. They had a green and a red salsa, neither spicy and pleasant enough. To wrap it up, the salmon is 5 stars! The rest was very good and gets 4 stars, as i have had better, but all in all, it very good. I'd like to see a more generous portion of soup served. I plan to return to try out some of their special deals during the week. read more

This review is based on my visit on 10/17/17. My server was BrittneyR. Ambiance was the best thing about this place. Good location with fun stuff to do nearby, live music, good decor, etc. Service was so so, but the biggest let down was that the server failed to mention that it was a Taco Tuesday night. I only found out after I ordered reluctantly ($20 for three combo enchiladas??), from the live musician who said something like "hope you're enjoying the taco Tuesday night". Throughout the night we barely received service. It's definitely not a good experience when you have to ask three times for some napkins. Food was rather average to below average. I tried 6 different tacos and I wasn't impressed with any. Also tried $22 Carne Asada which was tasty, but a far cry from $22 tasty. I still left 17% tip because to be fair the server was busy. The Chinaco tequila was delicious. All other drinks especially the Bloody Maria were not my cup of tea. The red salsa goes great with the warm tortilla chips. The dishes we ordered were ok. 1. Carne Asada - their chimichurri sauce is what made this dish 2. Trio of tacos - shrimp one was juicy though taco itself was not tasty, the fish one tasted not fresh, and carne asada had these chilies with it that threw me for a loop 3. Carnitas - overly salted and overly charred 4. The black beans are way a bit salty and have a non-traditional taste to them, not in a good way 5. The Spanish rice was not as expected, flavorless. It is Very loud inside Besides those factors everything was awesome. Service was fantastic and the food was delicious. I had the mojito which was delicious and strong And I also had the short rib open face enchiladas. They were super delicious + a bit spicy They used goat cheese on top which was tasty but I'm curious of cotija would've been better If I lived in the area I would definitely visit again to try more things but I'd definitely recommend it. read more

Pretty mediocre experience. Service was slow. Food was extremely average. We ordered margaritas at least 15 minutes before apps/entrees and our food touched the table before the drinks. I saw the drinks sitting at the bar and they didn't arrive at the table until we asked for them and the cubes were melted which implies the drink sat for a while. Server only checked in on us when it was time for us to pay. Would have been fine if the restaurant was busy but it was a slow night. read more

This location has a nice outdoor eating area. The food was okay. Nothing stood out. We had the nachos which weren't quite what we thought they would be. Each chip was individually it's own nacho instead of having a full plate with chips and toppings. It was underwhelming. Eddie G was our server and went ABOVE AND BEYOND! I asked for an espresso martini, but Eddie informed me Cha Cha's does not offer one. Without me knowing, Eddie walked down to their sister restaurant Bruno's specifically just to get the espresso to make me an one. It was the best surprise and absolutely delicious (maybe the best espresso martini I've ever had). The best service I have ever had at a restaurant. Eddie continuously checked on us throughout the night, despite it being busy. Eddie G. was such a kind server with a positive attitude, who went above and beyond just to make my night. I can't express enough how impressed I am-- felt like a VIP. It was Veterans Day, and they offered a free meal for veterans.
