We went the Saturday before Mother's Day and the service was awful to say the least. We made a reservation but still had to stand and wait for 40 minutes before getting seated...what is the point of a reservation at that point?? They were severely understaffed which is unacceptable for Mother's Day weekend which is also a popular weekend for celebrating graduates. There were many empty tables, but we had to wait extra long because of how understaffed they were. Our server worked very hard and was definitely hustling but he had an impossible task. We only saw him for ordering appetizer, entree, and the check. And getting the check took effort to waive him down. He was waiting on tables in two very separated areas, so he was barely on our side. The woman who seated us said "sorry for the wait. I promise the food will be worth it." Well, it was not worth it at all. The ceviche sampler did not have much fish at all...it was just a bunch of liquid and cucumbers, with a few tiny tiny pieces of fish. The guacamole was decent but was deceptively small as they place it on top of a hidden bed of shredded cabbage. I don't appreciate the trickery there.

And the chicken flautas wasn't really crispy at all. Additionally, I really wanted to catch up with my family members over lunch, but it was so loud inside that we were yelling at each other because we couldn't hear a thing. We...

Ate here for a birthday dinner with a party of 10. This is my second time at Cha Chas but first time at this location. Making the reservation was easy - called the restaurant and received a text and call to confirm at a later date. They informed me of the automatic 20% gratuity and asked if I was celebrating anything. No cake cutting fee. Free parking structures nearby. The restaurant itself was very loud, I think the acoustics are just bad. No one could hear each other and the waitress couldn't hear us as well. Maybe go to the Irvine location for that reason. Otherwise lively environment. The food was mixed. My party enjoyed several drinks, the clam appetizer, and the seafood pasta dish the most.

recommend ordering on of their main dishes, not tacos. The only significantly bad part of our experience was our waitress, Adriana. She didn't come see us until 15 minutes after we were seated and had a negative attitude throughout. Never introduced herself or confirmed the birthday we're celebrating. Never checked in on the table. Several times came to drop off stuff to the table and left as quickly as possible without asking us if we needed anything else. She told us they don't have Shirley temples - highly doubtful given their full bar. I asked to pay for a drink for the birthday girl on a separate tab which she denied. Questions about the menu were blown off. When we informed her of the birthday she said they don't do anything for birthdays - however I heard other parties being sung happy birthday and they asked me about it over the phone several times. Why ask if they don't take it into account? The worst thing was our card got denied the first time due to a fraud check - the person who put their card down went to the bathroom and in the meantime she came and announced to the whole table she needed a new card because the one she had was denied. Terrible etiquette. Overall, I would come to cha Chas again, especially with their great weekday deals but probably not with a large party and would hope for better service

The food here is so good! I came during lunch and ordered off the lunch menu. I got the Mix & Match, which lets you choose two items. I went with the chicken enchilada and chicken flautas, and it came with rice and beans. For $14, it was definitely a win. The portion was surprisingly generous, more like a regular sized meal than the typical smaller lunch portion. Everything was flavorful. I'm also a chips and salsa person, and their chips and salsa did not disappoint. I'll definitely be back.

The Carne Asada was nothing like I expected - it was much better. The steak was tender and topped with a delicious chimichurri sauce. As someone who loves chimichurri, I can confidently say this was one of the best chimichurri steaks I've had. I requested it cooked medium, and it came out exactly right with a nice sear on the outside and a slightly pink center. The nachos were interesting because they weren't assembled the typical way. Instead of piling all the toppings on top, each chip was individually topped, so every bite had a little bit of everything. It was a thoughtful presentation, although the overall flavor was just okay compared to the steak. The restaurant itself is much larger inside than it appears from the outside, with plenty of seating and a comfortable atmosphere. Service was friendly throughout our visit. Overall, the Carne Asada alone is worth coming back for.

We dine at Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen in Brea frequently. We usually dine inside, but it was such a nice evening that we chose to dine on the open-air covered patio this time. We love their chips and salsa. The complementary chips were very fresh, and both the red and green salsas have a medium heat level. We also always enjoy their grade size margaritas. They are not boozy, but definitely pack a punch. I usually have the mango-habanero margarita ordered extra-spicy, but I felt like trying something new, so I tried the Tamarindo Margarita (El Jimador 100% Blue Agave, Ancho Reyes Chili Liqueur, Squirt, tamarindo, fresh lime, grande size $27). It was good, but was a little on the sweet side, and I barely got any heat. I'll go back to my mango-habanero next time. She had their limited time pineapple-poblano margarita (grande size $27). This was an off-menu special offering. It was excellent, with a great mix of fresh pineapple and a light heat and pepper flavor from the poblano. It was perfectly balanced and the sweetness was very light. I was jealous and wish I had ordered this also. We happened to visit on Thursday night which is fajita night. The deal starts at only $20 for veggie fajitas, with various proteins available for an additional cost. I had the steak fajitas ($27), and she had the achiote grilled chicken breast fajitas ($22). The meal starts with a big Mexican Caesar salad. It was very good, with the perfect amount of dressing, it was very filling. The picture doesn't do it justice, it is a large salad. The proteins arrive sizzling hot in a cast iron skillet. Our dishes had a generous amount of steak and chicken on top of a bed of peppers and onions. I got flour tortillas and she got corn. It's nice that they give you four warm tortillas wrapped in a cloth napkin. Most places usually only give you three. The standard meal comes with beans and rice but we both opted for all rice. The rice was barely warm, but we were already pretty stuffed so we barely touched it. Our server Nicole was great. She was very friendly and provided great service. My girlfriend only had a few bites of her salad and wanted to take the rest home. When they delivered our two fajita orders, spread across eight plates, they inadvertently took her salad away. Nicole made it right and brought her a full salad in a to-go box and bag. Excellent service! They often run a summer promotion where purchasing $100 in gift cards includes two additional $20 bonus gift cards. Hopefully this deal will come again soon. We will continue to dine at Cha Cha's frequently.

Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen serves up Hispanic Cuisine and the prices are not bad either! Thanks Breastie for the invite to Family Dinner Night. I opted for the Shrimp Ceviche after an entire day of eating. It was more on the Tomato Side and there was a kick from the black pepper. Not as good as Shrimp Ceviche from a Madre but not bad interpretation either. The chips that accompanied it were not bad as well. Solid place, great for Happy Hours!

Updating my review since it's been a while. I love Cha Chas! They excel at everything, from food, to drinks to service, you name it and it's 5 stars. At our most recent visit, we tried the queso fundido appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. I also tried their limited time hibiscus margarita and it tasted so good. Our server was excellent and provided great service, and excellent recommendations, including the new margarita. Needless to say, we will be back here in the future.

This is a great spot to enjoy Mexican fusion cuisine during lunch time. On weekdays, they offer an amazing lunch special for $14. You can select two dish from their lunch special menu: -1 chicken OR cheese enchilada -1 chicken flautas topped with mango salsa (very mild) -salad -1 taco (chicken, steak, carnita or wild mushroom) This will come with a side of beans and rice. I ordered their chicken flautas and chicken enchilada. I honestly couldn't finish it so I had to take it home to finish. The value is amazing, especially during these inflated times. Cha Cha's in Brea is, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant! My family and I eat here almost every week, and every single visit reminds us why we keep coming back. The food is consistently incredible. Their chips and salsa are absolutely addictive, the salmon is cooked to perfection, and the carne asada is one of my all-time favorite dishes. If you're looking for something refreshing to drink, the hibiscus lemonade is delicious, and if you're in the mood for a cocktail, their lemon martinis are fantastic! Beyond the amazing food, the ambiance is warm, welcoming, and the perfect place to relax with family and friends. Every server we've had has been attentive, friendly, and genuinely cares about making your experience special. A very special thank you to Jennifer, the manager. She is truly first-class--professional, kind, and always goes above and beyond to make every guest feel valued. Great leadership shows, and it shines through in every part of the restaurant. If you're looking for consistently amazing food, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that keeps you coming back, Cha Cha's is the place. It's become our weekly tradition, and I can't recommend it highly enough!

Came here for the first time on Wednesday and had their happy hour menu at the bar, it was good and they offer chips with 2 salsas! I'll be sure to stop by more to experience their dining/dinner service, as i loved the enchiladas. I will say, my flautas were not crispy so I didn't enjoy them as much, but still really excited to come here again! A lot of people were there, clean and tidy, kind staff.

We came here a second time. I got something different this time. It was the Capas which had goat cheese on it. It's very heavy on the sauce. I wish it was a little lighter but I still loved the flavor. The carne asada, amazing as always. The potatoes are just the perfect crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. We also were given the flan and churros for dessert. The flan was our favorite. I've never tried flan this good before. I really liked the texture of it. The churros were delicious. I didn't really like the raspberry sauce that came with it. It was more sour and tart. I also want to give Sara a shoutout for taking care of us this night.

I enjoy Chachas they offer great food, drinks and a great happy hour! BUT the only thing that they continue lacking in is the service. Our server seemed to keep avoiding us and was always passing our table looking at us and would move on to another table. Other than that, our food and drinks were delicious.

Had such a great experience the last week, so we decided to go back again. We definitely were not disappointed as the both the service and food were great. Both our servers and even the managers were very attentive checking on us through out the night. Decided to try some other dishes like the chicken mole and seafood enchiladas that were great. We were able to try the other deserts but I still feel the tres leche cake is still the best. Hint: on the weekends the restaurants here get pretty busy so I highly recommend making reservations.

My hairdresser is located here in Brea so I come here often and I usually meet my sisters at Cha Cha's for lunch/dinner. Always enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Never wrote a review about this place until we had Gillian for our server last week and now I feel compelled to write one. What a remarkable young woman! She's so efficient and just the right amount of friendly as I call it :) One of my pet peeves at restaurants is having to always ask for more drinks or having to wait a long time for my food. Gillian was on top of everything!!! I didn't need to ask for my drink to be refilled. She appears out of nowhere and fills it...haha! She anticipated our needs! Those requests like having refills might appear to be a small ask but it goes a long way in making customers feel taken cared of and wanting to come back. My sisters and I will certainly come back to this restaurant. Not to mention the food is top notch! And my sister is married to a Mexican so she knows latin food!!! read more

I can't believe I've not yet written a review for Cha Cha's! Three years ago we came to Cha Cha's because they were featured during OC Restaurant Week and we've had great experiences here each time we return! Always friendly service, great selections and yummy food each time we come. We have brought out of town family and friends and each time we are pleased. This place also has a yummy brunch and live music on the weekends and some evenings. Really fun vibe. Plenty of parking across the street in the parking structure - just a short walk to the restaurant. I've enjoyed just about everything I've tried at Cha Cha's but really enjoyed the crab and shrimp enchilada and the chicken tacos. But you really can't go wrong. Try their sangria or watermelon margarita. You'll leave a happy camper! read more

This place would definitely be four stars if their prices weren't so steep for the kind of food that they serve. The complementary chips and salsa they provide is seriously to die for!! Especially their green salsa, my god...AMAZE! Free and generous refills on the salsa! Their carne asada tacos are Americanized but in the best way possible. The meat was tender, juicy, and had just the right amount of saltiness. Their shrimp ceviche probably falls within the top 3 ceviches that I've ever tasted. Their guacamole is as good as guacamole can get unless you made it yourself. And trust me on that because I am a self proclaimed guacamole connoisseur. Their margaritas are THE BEST. My absolute favorite is the Cha Cha Margarita, its so good that they've won multiple awards for it and it is well deserved. The prickly pear was also fantastic and very pretty. The mango-habanero was very different, I can't really decide if I love it or hate it, but the mystery makes it more on the good side. The ambiance is very lively. On some nights they have a live band playing. It is very dimly lit so you can definitely get your romance on and it is very airy and open. The service was up to par, nothing to complain about!! But if you're going to try it, do yourself a favor and come during happy hour or else you'll be crying when the bill comes. read more

My coworker and I decided to eat here for lunch to try something new and different around the area. Happy hour was during lunch time, so there was a good number of people present. They serve chips and 2 kinds of really good salsa. We shared an order of their Cha Cha fries, which were really good!! I loved how they were both the thick cut and crunchy at the same time with the right Latin seasoning. I ordered the skirt marinated quesadilla which was full of cheesy goodness and flavorful meat. MY coworker got a trio of tacos: fish, pork, and carnitas. The environment is very open and friendly. Service was good. A very good place to go out with friends to talk and munch on good food. They also have themed days for everyday of the week! Definitely work checking out. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area and craving Mexican/Latin food! read more

Came back here thanks to Don (owner) for lunch. You can tell he really cares about his business and what happens in the restaurant. FOOD: I had the steak sandwich lunch special with the salad while my gf had the steak taco and the flautas. We washed it down with a Miracle Martini. I really love their bread that they use to enclose the sandwich: slightly crisp edges while the inside is super soft but with enough firmness to hold the contents. The steak is also really good: the edges are slightly charred (adds some character to the meat). The meat is also tender: usually with other steak sandwiches you have to wrestle the sandwich a little to pull the meat apart. Not here. Effortless bites! 5/5. The martini is also very refreshing and strong like a drink should be. Nicely subtle flavors 5/5 SERVICE: The service here is always good. Employees are courteous. Our waitress checks up on us every so often. 5/5 DECOR/AMBIANCE: Hasn't changed since the last time I came here. I was actually pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. For years, I've passed it on my way to the movies without any desire to go dine here. I'm not a huge huge fan of Mexican food, but I decided to give it a try a couple nights ago. I ordered the enchilada sampler that had a shrimp and crab enchilada, a cheese enchilada, and chicken enchilada. The cheese enchilada was just too much cheese for me, but the chicken and especially the shrimp and crap enchilada were really good! I also ordered their house sangria and I could barely taste the alcohol in it -- not sure if that's a good or bad thing. My SO got the salmon, and I loved the crispness of parts of the salmon, and the glaze was yummy too. Oh and did I mention the complimentary salsas?! They're so good! I wanted to take some home and just eat chips and salsa for dinner. My only gripe was the price. We came on a Wednesday, so it was half price on wines, house sangria, and enchiladas. The normal price is around $20 for my dish, and I just think that's a little overpriced for what I had; however, I would definitely recommend going on a Wednesday if you can. read more

The food was good. The service was not! Lili was our server and she was just kinda rude. Super short and not personal. Didn't ask if we wanted dessert which we did. Get the tres leches it's amazing! Then there was the bill which was $73.82. The recommended 20% tip the receipt gave was $16.24. If you know math you would know that is not 20%. I understand people need to get paid to make a living but that's just being dishonest. My sister who is a server was actually shocked a company would do something like that. read more

The food is tasty and not too expensive. Good ambiance. Friendly servers. I had the Manila clams and Cha Cha's fries. Although the fries were not as good as previously, everything else was good. If I had informed my server about fries, I am positive that they would have done something about it. But I was OK with it. Had I said something I'm sure they would have corrected it. Had a Cadillac Margarita and OMG! It was delish. Will return soon. read more

It was great coming back after the remodel and enjoying the modern renovation, especially during a busy Sunday brunch and bottomless mimosa hour. went here with my girlfriend for valentine's day and definitely one of the best, if not THE best dinner experience i've ever had. Patzy was our server and she was phenomenal, super nice and great attitude. The manager I think, Tai made sure we were well taken care of and went above and beyond to provide the best possible experience even w a busy restaurant. food was delicious too!! worth every penny!! read more

We had such a spectacular private event at ChaCha's to celebrate my husband's 55th birthday this past Saturday. I cannot express the gratitude we have for the manager Jorge, waitstaff Patsy, Omar and the entire staff that contributed to making our party possible. Your attention to detail and professionalism was impeccable and carried through to the entire amazing staff. We, along with our guests (which was mostly family) were beyond impressed . Really surpassed our expectations and we will definitely consider events at ChaCha's Brea in the future. We have been loyal patrons since the original opening and will continue to be in the future. It's sad but it's rare to expect such a great outcome but the manager and staff completely changed that perception- it was outstanding! read more

Service was great and food was good. Comes with complimentary chips and salsa!! What we got: Premium mojito: yassssss! It's served like a slushy (like a kid again). The perfect medley of tang & sweet Classic margarita: if you like margaritas, it's a must! Just the right amount to burst your taste buds So...most importantly...the food(we ordered off the happy hour menu) Torta(carnitas): OMG YASSSSS! It was PERFECTLY flavored with just the right amount of meat to bread ratio! This is a must 5/5 Tacos (carne): nothing spectacular but still tasty. Took Dawn M. here for Valentine's Day 2014 and wasn't disappointed! Everything was on point from the get-go. The hostess politely welcomed us, checked our reservation, and seated us within minutes. The inside was pretty loud, so we requested a patio table in order to enjoy some peace and quiet. Thankfully, we were able to get the last one. Started with some chips and salsa - the red salsa was delicious! The addicting flavor was probably derived from an overload of salt and MSG, but YOLO, right? We also each ordered a mango habanero cocktail. Not as spicy as it sounds, so add some tapatio if you're looking to kick it up a notch. For starters, we ordered the chicken flautas and the tortilla soup. Both were winners, but I'd probably recommend the tortilla soup (more like a "paste" than a "soup"). For our entrees, I went with the chimichurri steak and Dawn went with the salmon. Probably two of the best entrees we've ever had at a Mexican restaurant. Words won't do them justice, so I won't even try. Just give them a try. Finished the night off with some flan, which was super creamy and indulgent. Service was fantastic throughout the night. Our waitress was attentive, but made sure to give us privacy as well. Chips & salsa + 2 mango habanero cocktails + tortilla soup + chicken flautas + chimichurri steak + salmon + flan = $87 ...on Valentine's Day. Nailed it! read more

Drinks? Amazing. Food? Fantastic! Ambience? Great! Service? Over the top! First time here, our server, Rich, took time to explain favorites on the menu and everything he recommended was great! Rich was super attentive to our table despite it being happy hour and 100° outside! He refilled waters before empty, cleared our table when needed, and hustled around helping other guests! This guy deserves a raise! Highly recommend this restaurant and hope to have Rich as our server next time! read more

10/10 would recommend this place to anyone looking for amazing food and excellent service. I took my Mom out for dinner after a really long day. The hosts started our experience on the right foot by accommodating when we asked to sit in a certain spot (thank you!!). Then our server, Sam, came promptly and made sure we got all the correct food on time. Everything tasted amazing. I also noticed the people around us seemed to really enjoy their meals as well. On top of that, bussers came to take away all the dirty dishes and my mom and I were able to enjoy our margaritas. Excellent team service, we will be back! I went with friends for a drink and a quick bite on Tuesday evening. We were seated right away and it took 20 minutes for the waiter to take our drink order. Then it took another 20 minutes for him to come back to take our food order. The food was very mediocre so I thought maybe some salt will enhance the flavor. I couldn't get anyone's attention. Finally, our waiter came by; I asked for salt, he brought me pepper. I pointed out the mistake, he said he wasn't paying attention. Of course we knew that! It was like we didn't exist. They also have live music on Tuesday, which was incredible loud: even when the band wasn't performing, the DJ's music was super loud. We had to scream across the table. We've decided to never go back and tell our friends and family about the experience so they don't have to be disappointed. read more

3 of us had a late lunch there today. Our first visit to this place. 2 stars because the flan dessert was really good. Our main entrees didn't appeal to us. Meat was tough in the tacos and the taste was so so. Hardly anyone else was dining there but the service was not good. The house margaritas are great, the chips are HOMEMADE, the salsa is wonderful (I don't like spicy so the really red salsa is for me, whereas the spicier one is for my sister-in-law and my bestie). The tacos for the special are great! Shredded beef, lettuce, cheese, and (if you wish) pico de gallo. I get mine on the side and give it to whomever I'm dining with. I'll then put the milder salsa on top. If you have any tacos left over, they'll give you some foil to wrap them up in. (I end up grabbing those chips too, because they are The BOMB. Tonight was our very first experience at cha chas and boy do i have to say im really glad i decided to take my girlfriend here this evening. We sat at the bartop where we were greated by Justin. Just a quick fyi, if you sit with justin while hes bartending, your experience is one of a kind. Anyways, we immediately upon sitting down the bartender was quick to introduce himself. He immediately began conversating with us, and making us laugh at first glance which my lady really enjoyed. We felt right at home. Once he found out it was our very first time there he immediately began explaining the drink menu and asking us questions to find that perfect drink that pertained to our palate's. He ended up selling me on the Pepino martini....which he nailed right on the button! Although a martini he reassured me it was a good "dudes" drink for us vodka drinkers. It had an well balance of alchohol, citrus and spicyness with a hint of cucumber. I ended up having 3! My girlfriend was suggested by justin the classic margarita, but with seranos since she wanted spicy but not anything too sweet. Justin nailed our drinks right on the button! not only were they great tasting it was really fun watchin him make them right in front of us. He truly is an expert and made our drinks effortlessly and fantastic! As for the food.....again....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Upon dropping our cocktails justin asked if we were eating and then began making suggestions, and explaining his favorite items. We were all having a good time so i told him to go ahead and ring 2 to 3 plates off the happy hour menu that were his favorite. He ended up setting us up with the ceviche, flautas, and calamari. All 3 plates both my girlfriend and i are getting again next time. I love how "limey" the ceviche is but also the green salsa! ceviche had a ton of shrimp and was really flavorful, light, and refreshing. As far as the flautas are concerned.....i heard they were awesome HAHA!!! my girlfriend loved them so much i got all of maybe one bite off the plate before they were gone. She loved the tender chicken filling with the mango salsa on top. As far as the calamari i think my favorite part had to be the veggies that were in it and the dipping sauce it came with. All golden brown to perfection and extremely tasty!!! FOOOD WAS GREAT and reasonably priced for what you get! We are excited to come back and already planning for another visit try the entree items and brunch plates justin told us about as well. We set up our reservations for Vday at 7:45 and we were seated in a very timely manner. The server greeted us followed by what seemed to be one of the male managers that was on duty, he noticed this little paper was flipped over which indicated out server already came. We placed our order a few moments after we were seated. The server brought us out chips and salsa which was very tasty. After almost all the chips were gone we were able to get the attention of a waiter and asked if our drinks were on there way and then they came with another serving of chips. A few moments later our appetiser arrived. We finished our flautas and was greeted by our server for a moment asking if every thing was good so far. At this point every thing was, we were in a deep conversation and time went by pretty quick, roughly 45 mins and then surprisingly our dessert arrived at our table. So we let the server know it would be nice to have our main course before dessert. Then a few minutes after that our main course arrive, however we still never received our soup and salad that we had ordered. At this point I was annoyed and wanted to speak with a manager. A lady came to our table(which she pointed out that she was the ONLY female manager at this location) and asked us what the problem was and I asked her, "If you don't mind looking at our table and explaining to me what you feel the issue would be with a table looking like this after 45 mins would be." She obviously had a blank stare of her face and I explained to her everything you just read, she apologised unsincerely about what had happened. So at this point I explained to her that we wanted to leave so she said please wait one minute. She came back with her business card and a $10 gift card(which was expired). To me this was the biggest insult of the night. I just explained to you how poor our service was and you decided the best coarse of action was to give us $10 bucks off the next time we come in. WOW, that truly shows why the service was this bad, if a manager A MANAGER thinks this is a good solution to the problem, I doubt this restaurant will be around in the years to come if a lady(The ONLY FEMALE manager at this location is still there) Many of you might have been thinking well it was probably busy because it was valentines day, well it didn't really seem like the case since there were open tables. This place is my best friend's favorite restaurant. As a matter of fact, she normally drags me there for a meal. We had just eaten there about two months ago and all was fine. We ate without incident. A few nights ago, we took her out to dinner for an early birthday celebration. We arrived early, but could already tell it would be a cluster. The hostess was aloof and disinterested in being friendly. Ok. We waited and finally were sat down after some confusion. Almost immediately, we could tell that the service would be horrendous. It took forever to get hard copies of menus. (I can't view menus on my phone due to an eye condition, which restaurants are always able to accommodate due to the ADA.) Anyhow, we decided to only order dinner and then do drinks somewhere else because service seemed so overwhelmed. We ordered after a 15-min. wait. We kept asking anyone (who was breathing) on staff for water, but to no avail. Our dinner was served and still no water, even though we kindly asked the runner to bring some. Halfway into our meal, our server finally brought water. Normally, I would've complained to the manager on the spot, but it was my friend's birthday. This place holds special memories for her and I didn't want to ruin that by complaining. After we left, I called and spoke to Jairo, the manager, who assured me he would fix the issue. A week later, crickets... My husband and I usually come here for drinks and a queso fundido on our date nights. It's overrated and hyped due to the lack of food choices downtown. The drinks are usually weak, but the food is decent. It's disappointing, but at least our waiter honored the "buy 1, get 1 one free" deal, for which one needs a voucher (it's in very small print, so beware.) Despite the poor customer service, we still tipped more than 20%, but it wasn't worth our trouble. read more

My husband and I are always looking for new restaurants to try in our area and we decided on Cha Cha's yesterday. We had a great experience. The food was good and the staff was very friendly. Our server was Alyssa and she was fabulous! I was surprised to find that they had a latin band named Sombra Quieta playing there for Sunday brunch. They were amazing! If you are into Tequila, this place has almost every kind you can imagine. We decided on the endless Champagne (could've been better,,was hoping for at least Cava). The only draw back was that it was very loud. The place was packed,,,(good for them!) It wasn't the music that was loud, it was the people (didn't expect that). They had a game on and also there was a birthday party and between the shouting from the game and the yelling from the party it was very hard to hear my husband so we just enjoyed the great music!!! I just wish they had a dance floor. One more thing, they do have a great patio and my husband and I smoke..(I know, BAD) but it is what it is.. So they said we could smoke on the OTHER side of the railing..now the funny thing is, my husband sat at the table and smoked his cigar on the restaurant side of the railing and so, I had asked the people behind us if it bothered them and they said no. So, I decided to light up a cigarette, since it wasn't bothering anyone. Well, the manager came outside and said, "I'm sorry you can't smoke on THIS side of the railing". So, I walked out of the gate and went to the other side of the railing..lol Now the funny part is..what good did that do..the table was right up against the railing so I just stood there and smoked my cigarette on "THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RAILING". My husband and I have been coming to Cha Cha's for years now, and wanted to share one of our favorite spots with some of our friends the other night. We came in on Sunday night and sat in the patio. Brea's jazz fest was going on so it was very busy but it was nice having great seats to the live concert while we dined. We were greeted right away by our server, Sabrina. She was super sweet and very knowledgable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations on drinks and dinner. We had the Mango Habanero margarita, Sangria, Frozen Mojito, and the Pineapple Smash Margarita. Yummy! The drinks were the best margaritas any of us have had and were so refreshing. For dinner we started with the Manilla Clams and the Queso Fundido with Spanish Chorizo. Both appetizers were delicious and left all of us wanting more, but wanted to save room for the entrees. I highly recommend the Fresh Chipotle Honey Glazed Salmon and my husbands favorite the Carne Asada. Our server Sabrina had many other tables outside but always had a smile on her face and took great care of us. I would have to say she's the best server we've had there and made our night with our friends a very enjoyable one. She also told us to try the Tres Leches dessert, which was her favorite, and so glad we did! My husband said it was better than his abuelitas! Cha Chas is one of the best restaurants around, and now a favorite of our friends too. We loved Sabrina as our server, we never had to ask for anything and will be asking to sit in her section whenever we come in. They have great deals every night and a great live band Thurs-Saturday night. I have yet to make it to the Sunday Brunch but have heard great things about it. This was not our first time here, however, it was our worst and probably last time here. If you want to receive kind attentive service spare yourself and do not sit at the bar. Even right in front for the bartenders they will serve you at their leisure. The bartender with the headband prioritizes her tables and regulars over bar guests and seemed to be so overwhelmed she had to stop and chat with people until it was time for her to run back into the kitchen. We waited 15 minutes to receive our drinks once we got there and another 15 minutes before anyone would actually take our food order. It was to the point another guest actually laughed at how we were ignored by 3 different staff members. The bartenders looked directly at our empty glasses multiple times and walking away instead of offering my husband another round (mind you his drinks are not $10 happy hour margaritas they were $36ea!). We were not given plates for our appetizer and my husband had his appetite ruined and he did not even touch his food. (Which also went unnoticed and uncared about). My food was under cooked but who do you ask for help when no one attends to you. Our bartender disappeared halfway through our meal and the gentleman who seemed to take over was incredibly insensitive grabbing our checkbook from in front of us with barely a glance. Don't worry though the three nicely dressed people directly next to us and the large party behind us received enough attendance for all of us. This was the worst experience I have had here by far. Also make sure you're not just leaving work when you get here unless you like to be stereotyped at a place with expensive food and poor service. Let's get a few things straight about Cha Cha's: -It is REASONABLY priced, so if you want cheap Mexican food then go to TACO BELL! -This is a SIT-DOWN restaurant with an innovative, fresh twist on traditional Latin cuisine...so if you are comparing it to a local hole-in-the-wall taqueria, APPLES TO ORANGES! -If you typically enjoy El Torito...then stay there! But if you want something different then try Cha Cha's... OK. Now on to the review. The food and drinks here are delicious! The service is above expectations and the owners/management are professional and present! For appetizers, I would definitely go with the ceviche (on the limey side) or the chicken flautas (that are topped with an exquisite mango salsa). For entrees, you can't go wrong with any of the tacos as they are each complimented perfectly with different salsas. BUT, I would not step foot in this door without trying the Carne Asada or their Seafood Caldo. The Carne Asada literally melts in your mouth and the Seafood Caldo is a hearty stew with all types of seafood, toasted pasta and served with a huge flour tortilla for dipping. For drinks, it all depends on your preference, because all of the drinks are freshly made and have a signature touch (which happens to include a heavy pour of liquor). This place is definitely owned and operated with unparalleled attention to detail, both on the food and service end of things. You will not leave the place without meeting the owner, Don, who goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is nothing short of spectacular. I have been here several times. Every friend that I have brought over are hooked. So I don't get some of the negative reviews.They have specials every day, ( I get there emails regularly) They have the best happy hour, and a good happy hour too. Food= 5 Stars Ambiance= 5 Stars ( always a party):D Service= 5 stars ( maybe it's because Im there regulary) ;) Prices= 5 stars ( For the quality of food and liquor) :p I have tried every single item on the happy hour menu, my favorite food item are the steamd clams....they are so tasty, w spanish chorizo served w a lightly charred flour tortilla, there calamari is served w a cilantro aioli, and fried serranos. I love washing down the spice w there frozen mojitos. They are strong 5 dollars and to die for. I have been in on Mondays for there fajitas. Ive tried them all chicken is the best. I have friends that are hooked on there sangria, they always invite me on weds. thats when they have a 1/2 off deal on there bottles, I must admit I have never had a sangria that good. The ambiance there is really always truly a party, the owner Don is always so happy to see us, we love that guy. I typically sit in the bar nd lounge area. The prices are good for the great tasting food and drinks. The service is always on point and very friendly. Usually Hilary, or Eren are in the bar area. Eren made me sign up for the emails, thanks girl! We love those girls, they just seem to be happy to be there. We also have sat at the bar with Tobin and Mel. My recent excursion to Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen left me feeling utterly appalled and utterly ripped off. If there's one thing they have mastered, it's the art of deception and culinary disappointment. Our server was great, but the rest of our experience was a total failure! Let's start with the food. The dishes arrived at our table with such haste that it was evident they had been lingering under a heat lamp. The flavors were lackluster and mediocre. But the pièce de résistance of this gastronomic nightmare was the audacious pricing. We ordered two Grande Margaritas. The menu indicated "Grande Margaritas are $3.00 off during happy hour", and the price of $15.00 was listed. Nowhere did it display the actual price of the Grande Margarita. When our bill arrived we were charged $48.00 for two Grande Margaritas? Are we financing a beach resort or just trying to enjoy a drink? This deceptive pricing strategy reeks of opportunism and preys on the unsuspecting customer. And let's not forget about the lackluster response from management. Instead of acknowledging the issue and offering a sincere apology, the manager brushed off our complaints with a dismissive attitude, claiming that similar concerns had been raised before. His promise to "let upper management know" felt like nothing more than a hollow gesture, devoid of any genuine concern for customer satisfaction. The least he could have done was offer a discount on our bill or a token of apology, but even that was beyond his capability. We will never come back to this place! Cha Cha's, take note: cheating your customers is not a sustainable business model. read more

I was there with co-workers after work today and had the worst experience. It was so bad I actually created a yelp for the first time ever to leave this review because of how shocked I am. We got there very early in the afternoon and it was dead, so we basically had the place to ourselves. We were a large group, however we are all adults, we weren't drunk, we weren't belligerent. We were just a large group. We got told by the manager to lower our voices or leave. Then proceeded to apologize to the 2 other people in the restaurant for our group simply talking and laughing. We weren't yelling, we weren't being disrespectful. Again, just a large group. I've been going to this restaurant for more than ten years and I have never had a bad experience and with the music and environment we never thought we had to whisper. The bill was 700$ which isn't an issue but you would think for that amount wed have better service and be allowed to talk. Our waitress was rude and forgot our sodas and two of our appetizers tasted like old socks. I'd stay away if you want to celebrate a bday or engagement and have a large group because they don't want that here at this restaurant since laughing or talking is a no no. read more

We celebrated Mother's Day at Cha Cha's in Brea, and it could not have been a better experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt festive and welcoming, and everything from the drinks to dessert was absolutely delicious. Our server, Desiree, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. She truly went above and beyond to make my mom feel celebrated and special. Her energy and genuine kindness added so much to our experience. We started with the sangria and the watermelon margarita--both refreshing and perfectly balanced. The guacamole was fresh and flavorful, the ideal way to kick things off. For our meals, we tried the chicken flautas, carne asada, carnitas, and a cheese enchilada--everything was cooked to perfection, seasoned beautifully, and plated with care. Each dish had its own unique flavor, and we couldn't pick a favorite! We ended the meal with churros and flan, and they were both incredible--warm, comforting, and the perfect sweet ending to a great meal. I'm not too hip on the brea scene at all, but as usual, the girls seem to run my life. We went to have lunch at Yard House, but the wait was forever, so we went for a walk. Cha Cha's was pretty cool. Great outside patio where we had lunch. The atomasphere is very "upscale cantina" with a small stage for live music and a separate bar area. We shared the chorizo dip and the flautas (to die for). I have the two taco combo with carnitas tacos with a mango or pineapple salsa on top. They were really good. Beans and rice were very plain, but good. Either way the tacos were amazing, next time maybe just ala carte. The girls all tried something different so that we could share. All the dishes were good, but one stood out. It was Kathy's crab and shrimp enchiladas. They were so good. Great sauce and perfect mix of flavors. Chips and salsa were very good, just not as spicy as I would like. I don't know when I will get back to Brea, but if I do, I will be going back to this place for sure. On a side note, they have a Sunday brunch that features live flamenco (spelling) music. Date night whim. Cruising downtown brea, No plan of where we wanted to dine, just chose the location based on the look. We were seated quickly -even after I admittedly asked to face a certain direction. Eeeek (diva). A very friendly gal helped us the second we sat . Hot tip: High top happy hour on Tuesdays all day! Menu is petite. Not like the cheesecake novel of misery. Anyway- Sara B. Immediately noticed we needed the low down on beverages. I chose a pineapple cilantro Margarita, and let me just say it was OFF THE CHAIN. Only unfortunate part is, it was so good I ordered another and didn't venture on to another flavor. I did see the waitresses pass by with many of watermelon margaritas and sangrias. We also ordered steak nachos and chicken enchiladas - EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS!! I recently visited Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen after reading many good reviews about it. While the food was okay, it didn't live up to the hype for me. I had high expectations going in, as this restaurant is often listed as one of the best in the area on Yelp. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. While it was decent, it wasn't as flavorful or memorable as I was hoping for. That being said, the service was good and the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant. It's possible that I simply didn't order the right dishes or that my taste buds didn't align with the majority of reviewers. It's worth noting that Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen has a diverse menu with many options to choose from, so there's a good chance that other dishes may be more impressive. Overall, I wouldn't say that Cha Cha's Latin Kitchen was a bad experience, but it didn't blow me away either. If you're in the area and looking for Latin cuisine, it's definitely worth checking out, but I would advise managing your expectations accordingly. read more

Went to brunch with a party of 10 for my husband's birthday. We had reservations so there was no wait time. Our server was great. He was very attentive and fulfilled our every need. I had the tortilla soup as a started (delicious!) and the "wood oven carnitas" as my main entree, which was overly delicious. Initially when they brought it out, the portion seemed small, but it actually turned out to be a lot and even shared with several people. My husband ordered the short-rib chilaquiles and he loved it. The restaurant was nice enough to hold his birthday cake in the fridge until we were ready for dessert. I was only a little disappointed that when we arrived 11:30am the live music hadn't started yet, they started playing at 12pm. Their website indicates there is live music during brunch but should be specific that they start at noon. Also, our table was in the back, and I wish we would've been seated closer to the musicians to enjoy the music more. Their bloody mary is the best I've had. read more

I had passed Cha Cha's a few times and never went in until my boyfriend and I decided to try it for an early Valentine's date. The hostesses were friendly and loved the warm, inviting interior and unlike most restaurants, it's not freezing cold inside. Our server Eddie was extremely pleasant and took time to explain the different items on the menu. He recommended the Salmon and house margarita, and when I told him I didn't like seafood or tequila, he assured me that I wouldn't be disappointed. Man, was he right! I was blown away by how flavorful the Salmon was and not a hint of fishy taste at all. And the margarita was delicious! I don't know what they put in them, but they are highly addicting! My boyfriend got the carne asada and the meat was so tender and cooked perfectly and it had this special greenish sauce (I forgot what it's called) that made it so yummy!! For the past five + years this has been our go-to date night spot. Why!?!? Atmosphere + DRINKS!!!!!!! I LOVE IT HERE. It's just the right about of intimate dark.. noisy but not irritating.. live music can get a bit too loud but it's quality sound. Chips are fresh and service is always A+. TIP: ask for a side of habanero paste to mix into the salsa ! The food is good, clean, healthy.. favorite dish is probably the salmon, and I don't even like salmon!! Second would be chicken or cheese enchiladas; third, grilled steak Romain salad. THE DRINKS! This is best place to get semi-intoxicated. my favorite is Burberry Serrano "margarita".. always get a large .. what it's true, trust me, LARGE. Happy hour is great and ask about VIP membership offers, which will allow you to get happy hour anywhere on some nights and other perks. Love, love, LOVE Cha Cha's! Been going there for years now. The bottomless chips and salsa are amazing. Crispy, perfectly seasoned, warm tortilla chips combined with their delicious red salsa are something I always look forward to. I usually don't order the tacos, and they are good, but I can never pass up other items on their menu that blow the tacos out of the water. The steak entree with potatoes is to die for. One of my go-tos is the 3 enchilada combination plate!!! Cheese, chicken, and shrimp & crab enchiladas.... nirvana on my tastebuds!! We recently hosted my daughter's graduation celebration at Cha Cha's, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Coordinating the event with Jennifer was incredibly easy. She was responsive, helpful, and made the planning process seamless, which took a lot of stress out of organizing a special occasion. On the day of the celebration, Becca and Eryn provided outstanding service. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure our guests were well taken care of throughout the event. Their professionalism and attention to detail helped make the gathering feel special and enjoyable for everyone. The combination of great service, smooth event coordination, amazing food (loved the guacamole and tacos) and a welcoming atmosphere made my daughter's graduation celebration a memorable one. There's no dedicated server and instead multiple people (four in our case) randomly take orders, ignore you, or interrupt throughout the meal. This chaotic system led to duplicate orders and a ridiculous confrontation at the end over hashbrowns. When we had questions about the bill for food we never received, the owner stepped in and immediately escalated the situation with our dads on Father's Day all over a $5 side of hashbrowns. I've never seen this combative attitude by any restaurant owner in my entire life. The food itself was mostly good (minor issues aside) but nearly everything is an unadvertised extra (even $0.50 for salsa on tacos). We wanted to love it, but left shaking our heads after spending $250. Save yourself the money and the headache. I've seen the owner attacking other honest reviewers, which only proves the point and I'm sure you'll see below. Best of luck to him and his family...I hope this is taken as constructive criticism.

Our waitress did her best despite seeming overwhelmed and having some difficulty with the portable POS system. She remained polite and attentive, so I don't fault her for the experience. Overall, this wasn't the quality we remembered, and unfortunately, we won't be returning.
