Tried this spot out for the first time. It was easy to order online and pickup. The prices were pretty good for a combo plate. I ordered the chicken curry with noodles and salad. They pretty much taste exactly the same except Cha For Tea offers a popcorn chicken bento box with the options of rice, salad or noodles which is a plus! The fifth star is missing cause I recently ordered their brown sugar milk tea boba . I hated boba and never got it in my drinks until I went to Taipei two summers ago and there was this street stall that had brown sugar milk with boba. It was amazing. I'm always looking for that great taste so I ordered the brown sugar milk tea with soy milk on Postmates. The boba is way too chewy to enjoy, the brown sugar base tastes artificial, and you can't taste any tea either. Big let down. Just warning anyone who might be looking for that drink. Located close to CSULB, and in the same area as Target in the Bixby Village Plaza. It is actually not a bad place to go to grab tea or coffee (especially if you like boba). There are several tables to sit at, and the service is usually fast. Price range is on the higher side (expect to be paying $4-$5/drink). This is a nice spot for a little date, or even to just grab a quick snack + boba. We had the Thai slush as well as the strawberry coolata. Both were enjoyed and definitely tasty. The Thai slush ended up being like any other slushie, in that it got really icy and watery and hard to consume at the very end. The crispy chicken was wonderful! It's not like your gross generic popcorn chicken you get from other tea shops. The sweet and sour sauce that comes with it is really yummy too. I appreciate that they don't put red coloring in it. Okay.. so I pulled out my discover card, and the cashier also proceeded to reject that. Huh????? What kind of establishment--in 2017 mind you, next to a college campus-- doesn't even take discover? At the entrance there is typically someone giving out samples of their best selling appetizers, and upon entering there are samples of their best selling drinks. I've tried quite a variety of their drinks and my go to will always be their iced mango green tea. There is nothing more refreshing than a mango green tea from Cha for Tea on a hot summer day! There are tons of different drink options, hot, iced, blended. There's definitely something for everyone. You can add boba or other similar toppings. I personally love opting for lychee jelly sometimes instead of boba. I've had a few of their food options over the years but never had something that was good enough for me to want a second time. That's ok though, the quality and taste of their drinks makes up for that. Their service is always top notch as well! It is definitely a priority at Cha for Tea. The tables are always full of happy patrons, so I've never seen them empty but the restaurant itself is always clean and organized. Parking is shared amongst the other restaurants and shops in the plaza, and a target recently opened so it's even harder to find a spot that's not too far of a walk. The line is always really long as well but don't let that discourage you, the cashiers are fast and the drinks don't take long to come out either! I recommend Cha for Tea to everyone. I always had good service here and this is one of my favorite boba places. Today, I experienced differently. When I was ordering, my mom decided she wanted to add boba, so I apologized and told the cashier. She decided to roll her eyes at me. When I received the drinks, I corrected her because I wanted mango green tea, but she gave me mango milk tea. She rolled her eyes again at me. I didn't even know what the drink was in the first place that's why I asked what it was. Then, she told me the name was on the drinks. I don't even work there and I don't know the full menu, so how can I understand what the initials on the drink actually mean. The other worker asked me to try the drinks, but I refused to because I'm ordering the drinks for someone else not for myself. The workers remade my drinks for me and the cashier walked away. I'm not saying that this place has bad service. I'm saying the cashier in particular was rude to me. I understand your frustration, but you shouldn't express it in your face. I used to get Cha pretty often when I was in Irvine, so I expected great drinks from this location as well. I like how this location has several different drinks out for you to sample. I tried the matcha and it was good, but I had to stick with the classic almond milk tea that I used to always get. I got it with one pump of sweetness and that was enough for me. You can't go wrong with any of their milk tea options since they use a perfect ratio of tea, creamer, and sweetener. Boba: Their tapioca balls have always been hit a here since it's super soft that's slightly sweetened. Service: Despite the crazy line on a Friday night, service was really fast when it came to making drinks and making them exactly how I wanted. Cons Flavored Teas: They really make their flavored tea drinks on the sugary side. You have to let them know to reduce the sweetness and most of the flavored teas ended up tasting similar to Quicklys or Tapioca Express. read more
