matcha einspanner, Cha Cha Lychee Rice, Lemon Cha
    Terri S.

Their matcha einspanner was so delicious! It was sweet, creamy, and I really loved the crispy rice they sprinkled on top. Although, I wished the size was a little bigger, my matcha felt really small; and I don't remember having the option to choose a size. The workers were fast and got our drinks out in no time. This shop is located at the back of the bloomingdale's, surrounded by other neighboring restaurants and food stalls. It was really easy to spot this place!

I love love love their coco mango/coco strawberry so much that I always make a stop here when I visit south coast plaza. I usually ask which one is better depending on which fruit is in season. I love the avocado smoothie with the fruit puree at the bottom. Both great combos and very yums! Right now they have 20% off on Tuesdays if you're part of their free membership. They also come out with new seasonal drinks too. They can understandably get very busy on weekends but I still stop by regardless lol I recommend a try if you want some boba while you're shopping around!

We had such a nice time grabbing drinks at Cha. The staff are always super friendly and we've been loving the chance to try their soft serve flavors (when the machine isn't broken). We went at a slower time so getting our drinks took less than 5 minutes which is always appreciated. The matcha shortage unfortunately hits the drinks really hard since their larger sizes have been scaled down but still love the flavor.

I usually steer clear of boba drinks because they tend to be way too sugary, but Cha Redefine in Costa Mesa completely changed the game for me. After taking a long break from boba, I tried their mango drink mixed with green tea and creamy coconut milk, customized at just 25% sugar, and it was absolutely amazing. Dropping the sugar level was the perfect choice because it let the actual flavors shine through instead of drowning them in sweetness. The drink was incredibly thick, rich, and satisfying with a great texture from the boba. It is the perfect spot if you want a high-quality, flavorful drink where you can actually control the sweetness, and I will definitely be back.

A nice classy place for some boba drinks coffee and tea, but I would say a bit on the pricey side, which is understandable due to the area that it's in. During the Bogo weekend, I tried the cha-cha Hojicha and I enjoyed the chewiness of the oats and mochi wasn't as chewy but some more of a sleek, milky texture. It's conveniently located with other food shops, such as dim sum at Paradise dynasty . It is a bit hidden due to the fact that it's within Bloomingdale's. But drinks are made relatively quickly. No, I recently learned they do charge a dollar extra for water, but they do allow free refills if you have your own bottle or Hydro flask

I was still full from dinner across the way, but wanted a palate reset with a lil tea. The menu boasts a lot of variety with drinks, soft serve and dessert. However, I'm pretty basic so a tea with milk foam is my typical, classic go-to beverage. Ordering process was pretty quick. They ask for size and you get options to customize your drink with toppings, sweetness and ice. I decided to go with an Osmanthus Oolong with Vanilla Cream Foam Cha with sugar adjusted to 25%. For the cream foam topping, you get 5 options to choose from: vanilla, matcha, coffee, avocado, and black sesame. Even at 25%, it was more sweet than I had anticipated, but the foam was likely sweetened as well, so it may have impacted the overall drink. Prior to mixing the foam, I did taste the osmanthus tea itself and I was pleasantly surprised. It was quite fragrant, a mix of floral and a hint of candied fruit flavor. Why have I not discovered osmanthus sooner?! Pickup when the drinks were ready was easy too. They just call out your number and it was less than 5 minute wait at the time I went. Straws, festive cup sleeves and napkins were available at pickup area.

This place is located in the basement of Bloomingdale's along with other restaurants. I saw this place recommended on Tik Tok and the color of the matcha caught my eye. For a boba place I am so impressed with how vibrant the green is. We ordered two different matcha drinks and I liked the Match Rice Einspanner more, it was unique and had a nuttiness to it. As I drank more of the Matcha Matcha, I felt like it had a chalky after taste to it. Still, it was high quality matcha and had a strong flavor. It is on the more expensive side considering the size, but it is located in South Coast. The drinks were made very fast and it did get busy on a Friday afternoon. ig: @cravingswithcat

This tea shop is tucked away in the lower level of Bloomingdale's. Ordered a mango sago drink. It was refreshing and it too sweet. I didn't know where the line started to order and so ended up waiting on the wrong side of the line. Will have to come back to try some tea product.

We always stop by Cha Redefine after eating at Phoholic. The lines are unpredictable regardless of time or day. The drinks are generally pretty solid but definitely getting pricey. I like the (reusable) plastic cups they come in. Don't forget to join their rewards program towards a free drink.

Refer to pictures for menu and pictures ~ *Great and efficient service. *Matcha matcha was GREAT *Osmanthus Oolong we ordered was half sweet, but it tasted 100% sweet. * No chairs, very crowded area. * Sold out osmanthus tea bag (main reason we drove all the way here) * decent price Hopefully the next time we visit, they'll have tea bags in stock.

Tucked away inside Bloomingdale's is this little boba spot serving classics like iced matcha lattes and fruity favorites like mango coconut slushes with sago. It's on the pricier side due to location. Drinks: *Iced Blueberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte + Matcha Cheese Foam ~$9.75 *Mango Mango *Coco Mango (avocado smoothie layered atop mango purée) Drinks were refreshing but I kinda expected the blueberry matcha to have colorful layers. It was just a darker green at the bottom. I could definitely taste the blueberry, not overpowering. Adding the matcha foam made it creamier and I enjoyed that despite the heavier price tag. It's a grab and go place next to a little shrimp ramen shop. They do have some seating for waiting. Once you're inside Bloomingdales from the mall side, walk straight to the back and you'll find them. Service was quick and friendly. My drink was made faster than my friends' mango drinks even though I ordered last.

Jasmine Jade Cream Foam Cha, Coco Mango
    Aimee L.

This boba location is located in South Coast behind the Bloomingdales and close to several restaurants - perfect for a post-lunch sweet treat! I ordered the Jasmine Jade Cream Foam and my mom got the Coco Mango. The drinks are pretty tasty, but not anything unique in my opinion - a lot of other boba shops make very similar drinks. Prices are also pretty steep, which does make sense for this location. It is really busy (location again!) but waiting for your drink isn't horrible since there are so many shops to browse nearby. Overall I think it is worth a try!

    Matcha Tornado
    Dave S.

Found this place below Bloomingdales. We tried the Matcha Tornado with was a blended matcha and oat milk drink w Taro Paste. Sounded great. Looked great, but that was about it. It lacked Matcha flavor and was overly sweet (reg sweetness). The Taro paste was really good. I am a fan of Taro though. Service was quick and the place has no seating. It a to-go place. I likely wont return here since there are boba, matcha places all over that are much better. I wanted to love this place because of the unique drinks but didnt.

At the Costa Mesa location, parking was a little tricky at first, but after circling we got lucky with a corner spot. The location itself is SO cute! It's right next to colorful barrel fountains, and on a sunny day it honestly felt like the perfect coffee outing. The line was pretty long and you are standing in direct sun, so just keep that in mind, but the service was quick and efficient once you order. Inside, it's small but really charming, with Sunny Angels hidden around and a very open, friendly vibe. My sister (who is basically a professional coffee drinker at this point ) got the matcha and said it was her favorite, which says a lot. I got the iced Spanish latte with oat milk, and it was SO good. Spanish lattes are my go-to, and this one had the perfect hint of cinnamon without being overly sweet. Even as the ice melted, it still tasted great, which is rare. The Torrance location was just as good! Parking was easier, the space is bigger, and the service was still super friendly and fast. My husband got the cold brew "Nook way" and finished it in like 10 minutes. He said it tasted like Golden Grahams cereal. Highly recommend both locations and especially the Spanish latte. Definitely worth the visit!

The parking however, was VERY filled during this time. The line was huge for a 11:00am on a Friday morning. I am notorious for chugging my iced coffee but this was absolutely delicious. A sweet, subtle honey sweetness taste and the creamy oat milk was divine. My manager's Spanish Latte was so much better & I will be getting that next time! We bought our other coworker the Strawberry Matcha, which we did not try & we were worried after the fact because it did not look like it had strawberries in it, but she confirmed it was very tasty and tasted the strawberry! The outside seating areas in this outdoor area was very cute. Lots of fun art, the directory was creative, the CD tunnel was the coolest part! We also walked over to the breakfast burrito place as well. This seems like a nice area to come and relax and just people watch and enjoy a delicious iced latte from Nook.

Only 2 gals were working but they were like a machine, taking orders and cranking out drinks in a perfectly synchronized barista ballet. I ordered a large hot Spanish latte and chose a chocolate croissant from the pastry case. I declined having the pastry warmed as the chocolate gets melty and gooey-messy all over my hands. She informed me that the latte would have 4 shots of espresso unless I wished otherwise, but I was ready for a good case of coffee jitters. The interior is very small with 6 two-tops crammed together and a window counter with 5 or so chairs. I sat at a table. The latte was perfectly made, served at immediate drinking temperature, with a great quality coffee and a cinnamon flavor that was exactly the right strength. The croissant was fresh with plenty of chocolate inside. By the time I finished it, I looked like a three-year-old; my lips were smeared with chocolate. This was an excellent pastry. I'm rarely in this area (my mechanic is a couple blocks away which is the main reason I was here) but this coffee place is definitely now on my map for a return visit in the future.

Despite being relatively close to two major colleges - OCC and UCI - this place wasn't as crowded as you'd imagine it would be. They serve coffee, matcha, breakfast foods like breakfast burritos, protein bowls, avocado toasts - but I didn't pick anything to eat since I already had lunch. I shared with the barista that it was my first time here, and he asked what type of drink I was looking for. I told him something iced and caffeinated - and he mentioned his favorite was the Honey Cinnamon Latte - which I opted for - iced, with oat milk. Total was $8.50 including tip. My iced Honey Cinnamon Latte was yummy, creamy, and fantastic! With the oat milk substitute, it sorta tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in liquid coffee form. It wasn't overly sweet, definitely had a nice kick to it - love this recommendation by the barista! There's an adjacent room that's connected to the cafe called "Flow Space" - which is utilized for small popups and arts & crafts. Neat spot for smaller community members to showcase their wares. Some of the other reviews mentioned no a/c - which had me worried considering we were having a bit of a heatwave lately - but to my pleasant surprise, A/C was on and cold! It was a great escape from the heat. Free wifi - fast enough for a zoom call if you need to hop into one - my speedtest reported download speeds of 17.5MB/s Restroom is clean and well maintained.
