The deep matcha green and the blue spirulina added to the oat milk is so pretty! Cha Cha Lychee: (6/10) The lychee flavor and Jasmine green tea was good but the drink overall tasted watered down. This is a new boba drink spot that just opened on the lower level of the Collage Food Hall. It's right across from Le Shrimp Ramen and Mochinut. On first impression for soft opening day, everything seemed to be running smoothly. The employees were friendly and busy cranking out orders. It wasn't too crowded and we were able to get our drinks in a very reasonable amount of time. The menu is relatively unique compared to a lot of other OC boba shops. I'll have to try a drink with "avocado foam" next time. There are lots of drinks to choose from, but the menu is laid out in a straightforward way. There are only a few places to sit, so this isn't really a boba cafe to hang out at. Drinks: * Soybean Milk Tea with Boba (regular size, $7.50): this is one of the seasonal drinks but I was highly impressed by it. At default sweetness it wasn't too sweet at all. The soybean taste was creamy and subtle. There was also a hint of brown sugar that tasted "burnt," but in a really good way. The boba was chewy and flavorful. * Blueberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte (regular size, $6.75): I also really enjoyed this drink, though I liked the Soybean Milk Tea more. Parking: 9/10. There's ample parking on this side of south coast plaza that leads to College Food Hall. You can also enter the area through Bloomingdale's (lower level). Drinks: 10/10. We tried the Cha Cha Lychee and Blueberry Oat Milk Matcha latte. The lychee flavor was fragrant and authentic while the blueberry drink had unique combination notes that pairs very well together. Drinks are automatically 75% sweet unless you tell them otherwise. We usually like to have our drinks at 50% sweetness and their 75% sweetness was perfect for us. Price is on the higher end but I think it's justified for the quality and quantity of the drinks. Ambiance/Service: 10/10. The kind lady offered to make our drinks a little bit early before opening hours so we really appreciated that. Drink took a while and she was the only person working so it was totally understandable. The cups and lids are the real star players. They probably just opened the the wait for tea was long. The order line was long too but it went fast. I waited about 25mins for my tea to come out. The tea was good and tasted like tea and it's already coming with a little less sugar, which I prefer. Some tea could be quite expensive, probably bc of the rent. Not sure if I described that correctly but that strong tea flavor doesn't stay for as long as other milk teas from some other boba shops. No whipped cream was the way to go as the sweetness was right and it didn't need anything else competing with the drink flavor. The shop and parking: Cha Redefine is located inside Bloomingdale's SCP (men's side), downstairs in the Collage food section. The closest entrance is where Anqi and Paradise Dynasty is located; you take the escalators down and it will be immediately on your right (across from Le Shrimp Ramen). It's really just a long counter where you walk further down to order, then you may sit on the benches in the middle or wait to the side for your drink(s). I just thought the layout was a bit inconvenient for Bloomingdale's as large crowds tend to congregate into the department store or pool around the escalator and it feels awkward waiting around and getting it people's way. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and I'm not sure if it was due to opening weekend but we had to wait 20 minutes for our 2 drinks. We were in no rush but did notice some customers asking for how much longer as they either worked at the mall or were in a hurry so keep that in mind if you want something quick. Overall: Were the drinks good? Yeah they were pretty good, but I don't see myself coming back very often for a $7-9 drink. I have tried 3 drinks here: Blueberry Oat Milk Matcha, CoCo Avocado, and Cha Cha Lychee. My favorite is the coco avocado. It is closer to a smoothie. The drink had a good level of sweetness without any adjustment. The drink was also very refreshing. The blueberry oat milk matcha was also good. The blueberry taste is on the lighter side. If I were to order again, I would request for extra blueberry flavoring added. The Cha Cha Lychee was an average drink. I did not find anything particularly special about the drink. I've had this place twice now, and both times, my drinks were just average and didn't wow me. Also wasn't worth the price either. It's not terrible, but I'd only get it if I were shopping at South Coast. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to get a drink here. The Blueberry Oat Milk Matcha Latte was my first drink, and though it sounds amazing, none of the flavors mentioned really shined. It could be that the oat milk was too much, so I couldn't taste blueberry or matcha much. On my second visit, I tried the Rose Super Latte, and sadly, there was nothing super or rosy about it. I would say this is a 3.5-3.75. Pretty good drinks if you happen to be in the mall, but not good enough to go there just for drinks. The menu is definitely unique. Their menu was very different from any boba coffee/tea that I have ever seen as it contained unique flavors. They had a list of their Top 10 and the drink I ordered was not on there. I tried the Fresh fruit strawberry green tea, which was a ice blended tea, with your choice of fruit. The drink was very refreshing, but the taste of the tea was very strong. The Matcha Tornado lacked the real matcha flavor but had a nice hint of saltiness from the foam which gave the drink a sweet and salty taste. This review is solely based on the cashier working on 5/22 and by the name on my receipt, his name is Thomas B. Now sir, you need to work on your customer service. I work in healthcare as a Trauma nurse and know all about customer service and being kind and respectful to others. But this was TERRIBLE customer service by Thomas B. and it was beyond me. Being rude takes more effort. He stood there staring at us without a "hi" or "can I help you". Then to be annoyed because my husband and I were looking at the menu since it was our first time and rolling his eyes because we were deciding on which drink to pick is truly unprofessional. Huffing and puffing behind his register because we were deciding was also unacceptable. His look of being impatient was such an inconvenience to him. And to be transparent, we didn't even take long to choose our drinks. And to top it off just pushing the receipt to me without a thank you, just a "you're #51" and walks away. Horrible service. We are regular customers at South Coast because it is the closest mall to us and love boba and tea drinks. Not returning to this place because of this rude individual no matter how decent the drinks were. It made the whole experience of trying a new boba spot so foul.
