Chaat Bhavan is an Indian-inspired, pure vegetarian restaurant offering an extensive menu of chaats, entrees, and breads. We started with the Chaat Samosa, made of a crispy broken samosa with a spiced potato and pea filling, topped with chana masala (curried chickpeas) and chutneys. This was an excellent combination of flavors and textures, but would've been even better with some tangy yogurt and crunchy sev on top. The Bhel Thali was a nice sampler of many different dishes including paneer bhurji, a black chickpea soup, yellow lentil soup, kadhi (a sour yogurt-based curry), raita, rice, rotis, papad, kheer, and semolina halwa, served with a drink of chaas (spiced buttermilk). But my favorite component of the thali was the bhel, a side of puffed rice tossed in a savory, tangy dressing and mixed with pomegranate seeds, black chickpeas, chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and spices. According to the menu, the restaurant's signature dish was Malai Paneer, made of homemade cottage cheese cubes in a creamy tomato sauce, which was more liquidy than I expected. The Aloo Gobi was an oily mixture of cauliflower and potatoes cooked with onions and spices, but my favorite entree was Makki di Roti & Saag, two thick corn flour flatbreads served with spiced, puréed spinach and mustard greens--an earthy and flavorful Punjabi winter dish! Overall, the flavors of the food were all on point, and the service was super friendly and attentive for a relatively casual place. I live an hour away from this place, yet it has become my monthly tradition to drive to Chaat Bhavan with my family. Food: 10/10 (I'm not even Vegetarian but this place is too good). I'd like to start by saying Savio is the best! Very attentive and constantly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed along with all the other staff that checked in with us! The food is WOW WOW WOW fresh! We ordered: Tandoori paneer tikka Malai paneer Garlic naan Samosa First they brought out the samosa order which came with 2 samosas and 2 sauces. One was a mint chutney sauce which was delightfully fresh with a hint of heat and the other was sweet and savory which I believe was a tamarind sauce. The samosas were crispy and delicious! Next they brought out the tandoori paneer tikka which resembled a fajita platter. The big cuts of paneer were very tasty and it was served alongside grilled veggies and a sauce that reminded me of a salsa. Very interesting and flavorful! Afterwards they brought out the garlic naan and the Malai paneer. The sauce for the Malai paneer reminded me of a butter chicken sauce but slightly differently and very delicious! It also came with this small bowl of sliced onion and something else which I couldn't describe other than very acidic. The garlic naan was good but I think I'll order the plain naan or the butter naan next time but I'll definitely be coming back! What an amazing experience, the restaurant is very clean and looks super nice on the inside! Will definitely be coming back! Also don't forget to check in on Yelp! Super poor service. They gave us cold food and they put paper over the tables. They took so long to bring out plates. The food is not flavorful and not spicy at all. The exit signs make it feel not fancy. The music is weird. Do not recommend coming here. read more

This used to be a good restaurant, but I'm not sure what happened. I'm surprised at how much the quality at Chaat Bhavan has declined. We ordered Pani Puri, Dabeli, Corn Chaat, and Samosa Chaat literally none of the items were good. I had a similar experience last time but refrained from leaving a review, thinking any restaurant can have a bad day. However, today was a complete disappointment, worse than before. I just hope they start paying attention to quality like they used to. read more

Very disappointed that a place like chaat bhavan has stooped down to the level of fudging your bills. We were charged twice the price for three plates of their june specials. luckily we realized that the bill was high and asked them for a physical copy so we could see the breakdown. The food is horrible and they don't even care about feedback because they have enough customers coming in. I wonder why people go to eat there! I ordered munchow soup and it was literally made out of packaged food which Indian store sells for 2.99$. it has dehydrated veggies in it. Panera matar was watery. They dropped our food and then it took forever to get new food. Kids were super hungry and the service was super slow. I hope they will improve their food standards. The server came for feedback and when we said the food was not good, he just walked away without asking what was wrong. People stop going there. They really should work on their food quality. read more
