One of the worst experiences I've ever had with takeout at a restaurant, and easily the worst indian food I've ever had. We ordered- malai paneer, poori masala, beigan bhartha, roti. The malai paneer was really, really sweet. Unbearably sweet, to the point where it was inedible. The beigan bhartha had a really bitter aftertaste, and it was completely cold. The aloo bhaji was essentially completely water. The rotis were hard ,way too thick, and cold. Worst of all, every single one of us who ate the takeout got a stomach bug/food poisoning (the family member who skipped eating takeout was fine). Perhaps their parathas are good- their curries are awful. Please don't buy sabjis from them. read more

I was too excited looking at the reviews and I ordered many items from the chaat menu. However, I was disappointed by the taste and flavor that I got. The bhel and papdi chaat was bland and lacked the sufficient dash of tamarind and green chutney, even salt probably. The paani puri paani was only water and chaat masala I think. The palaak paneer (steamed spinach and cheese cubes, for those less enlightened than I) is great. I couldn't stop eating it. The flavor is perfect for both aspects of the dish, and it stayed warm in the packaging even when I made it home (not THAT far but still). Also, I liked how they stapled the bag closed so I had no chance to spill the contents. That said.. it was slightly slow and the guy is not very friendly (I think he's the only guy, as he was there when I went there long ago). Also, I hope you know more about Indian food than I do, because I have my dishes I recognize (like the above) and then after that I generally need explanations. You ain't gettin' it here! And if I am going to resort to profiling, no one else I saw in the establishment probably needed any explanations. = I think the only reason this really mattered in my case is that the combo appeared to be a much better deal, but I couldn't even tell what categories of items were being referred to in the combo descriptions! I often order togo food from this place. Their paranthas are pretty good -- gobhi parantha especially. Have also tried their paneer and aloo parantha, which are nice as well. This is my favourite Indian restaurant in the town. We love delicious food served here. People are welcoming and treat customers nicely. We go to this place to have awesome Combo1 thali. This place is amazing for some amazing North Indian food with a touch of mom's cooking. Plus the prices are so reasonable. I tried Makke ki Roti and Sarson saa saag and both roti and saag was really great. I was so happy after eating it. In addition, the phulka rotis they give have such a homely feeling. I also tried their baingan bharta and palak paneer and both of those were superb. And then there was the Tea, which had sugar in it by default and the right amount I prefer. If you like adding sugar to your own taste in the tea, make sure to mention while putting an order that you want it without sugar, otherwise it comes with it, and was awesome for me. Ohh I almost forgot gobi kaa paratha which was not just huge but also amazing. Also, the friend who introduced me to tgis place told me this secret that you can mix multiple ingredients in the paratha like methi, gobhi, onion and green chillies. My to-go place in the South Bay for some authentic Punjabi food. The food tastes genuinely home made. Can't recommend the combination of matar paneer, rajma, daal tadka and plain roti enough. I have personally recommended this to multiple friends and co-workers and have brought visitors from out of town here. After eating here, all echoed my opinion. This has got to be the worst place for chaat ever. Beats Vik's Chaat cafe too! We were in Sunnyvale yesterday and came to Chaat House. We have eaten in the Fremont one and the one on 939 W El Camino location before and thought it would live up to the same standards. We ordered Bhel puri and Dahi Batata Sev Puri. Both were a disaster with the latter being the best of the two. The Bhel Puri came with no potato, no tomato, no chana and no cilantro. It only had puffed rice, Sev, sweet chutney, onions and a few random pieces of oil drenched Puri. I mean can you even make Bhel Puri without the missed ingredients? The Dahi Batata Sev Puri had no Sev and had exactly 1 cube of potato in each Puri, covered with Dahi and chutneys. Each cube had about 5mm sides. These two are ideally dishes that you cannot go wrong in. at the most one could make it a little sweet or a little too spicy. But apart from that, one cannot go wrong. Very very very very sad! They say you can tell an ethnic restaurant is good based on the customers. If a Chinese restaurant has a lot of Chinese customers, it must be pretty good. Lots of Japanese customers at a sushi restaurant? Must have pretty fresh sushi. Here, I walked in an I was the only non-Indian person. So, I thought to myself, this place must be good! And... not to be anticlimactic, the food was just okay. Pretty bad service... Very unfriendly workers there, who weren't helpful at all. I think it was pretty obvious I didn't know what to order of what anything was and stared at the menu for a good 5 min. I ended up pointing at one of the few pictures they had on the menu .. I still don't know what I ordered, honestly. it would've been nice if they wrote a short description of what everything is and matched the pictures with the food in the menu. Now, onto the food. Def very filling! It was my first time eating this type of Indian food... I believe south Indian food? I got the huge, airy bread ball thing and it was pretty good. Very deceiving, because when I first got it, I thought it wasn't going to be enough. It comes with a yummy dip! Overall, food was pretty good and flavorful. Come in and you will find it full of Indian people. To me, having Indian people at an Indian restaurant is a good sign and good it was. Home-like food. Great options and service. Especially the manager, very accommodating. Take-outs need some work though. I don't eat spicy food. If I ask for mild, take out turned out to be spicy. If I asked for "no spicy", it turned out to be salty - probably to cut the spiciness. The same food in the restaurant will be great though. When I pointed out the difference, the manager will accommodate and replace the food though but no difference in taste. Don't know why and yes, I tried the same multiple times. I still go in at least once a week but I don't do take outs anymore. Still, in the restaurant, great food and accommodating people - good enough for me. I keep going there. April 2019: Update: They have updated the ambience, the food prep and serving staff. Much better now. This includes the to-go food as well. They do deserve every bit of the 5 stars now. One of my feel good eat out places for chat or simple north indian food.. i was so disappointed when radhe chat got burned down for that used to be my fav chat joint. This is not as good(:() but a nice place too.. i like their menu options with couple of customizable combos and the pricing. Their roti is just 50cents ! They even have to go deals on weekdays with two sabji and five free rotis. Let me defend my four stars. This is not the place i would go to celebrate an occasion but would definitely go if i am lazy and didnt cook even and wouldn get bored. If you ve been to the mess in bangalore like ghar ka khana I would draw parallel with that. Feels fresh n healthy simple food n homely decor. And i think thats a win. read more

I'm glad I stopped in; the person behind the counter recommended the combo with curried okra, steamed rice, potatoe's n' pea's in curry, a crispy paratha, two soft flour like tortilla's (not sure of the exact name), ride pudding, yogurt. Comes on a large stainless steel serving platter. comes with a free drink: chaat, soda or tea. I chose the chat. $7.50 plus tax. Nothing was stand out except the crispy paratha and chaat; everything else was lukewarm. The okra curried looked over cooked and a couple days old. Sorry Chaat House. This is my go to place for lunch for over 2 years now. Recently renovated with more contemporary interiors but same old mouth watering home like food. Amazing vegetarian options including Thalis and Paranthas. During recent rains we also went for chai and pakoras which made any rainy day more enjoyable.
