I was suppose to go to their nextdoor neighbour restaurant - abhiruchi but I smelled some parathas and decided to relish some hot parathas and chaat items. Abhiruchi I will be visiting you guys soon as well. In group of four we shared 6 parathas. Paneer (cottage cheese) and gobi (cauliflower) parathas topped the table. Both were delicious,soft and well stuffed. Methi was fine too. Paneer pakoras with some chaat masala on top was my kid's favorite. We repeated this order and she ate them with delight the next time too. She liked the butter milk as well and I liked masala tea which already comes with added sugar. We ordered veggie thali as well. It had mixed lentils, gobi alu sabzi, raita, kheer, bhel puri (was little sweet for me), some salad, paneer matar, two tawa rotis, rice and papad. Curries were fresh and my 1 year old tried it all. Gobi alu was not oily. Thali was good and food was freshly made.Samosa Chaat was fine. This place surprised me with their authentic taste and delicious parathas. I will be back for parathas, veggie thali and to savour more chaat items. Ambiance is neatly done and newly renovated and prices are reasonable. The parathas feel like just how it was made when I was in Little India on my way to the South side of Singapore. Once you bring it home, the smells are very lively. I had the gobi and paneer which was the best. I am a freak for chaat because of my Southeast Asian roots and this place takes the cake. No pun intended. Best vegetarian Indian food . Very tasty and reasonably priced. Their chaats are also really nice. Best things to try is the thali, aloo paratha, paneer paratha and chole bhature. The picture below is what they gave as pav bhaji. Basically stale, almost spoilt burger bun and some almost dry masala curry with not a tinge of any vegetables. I asked the young man at the counter about burger bun being given as pav. He didn't care. "You can talk to the manager" is what he said. I checked with the old gentleman who served the food and he just gave a blank stare. In addition to being terrible, the food is not cheap either. A homeless in street will get better food and attention. This place is an expensive way to feel like a homeless. Chat House is a disgrace. Our go to place anytime! It's not overly crowded like Chaat Bhavan plus food is more fresh here. They don't add artificial coloring I think in the food and their food tastes like homemade North Indian food. Definitely try their thali with complimentary Chhaas. Chaat house is our favourite place to get homestyle Punjabi food - when we don't feel like doing dinner at home and aren't craving anything extravagant. A simple thali with some vegetables, lovely daal, raita and dessert is comfort food at its best. We love their saag, it's delicious and decadent and yet kind of makes you feel good about getting your greens :). Their gol-gappas (why insist on calling them paani puris please) are a personal favourite of mine. The water hits the spot because the taste is aligned with Delhi style gol gappas. One of the good chaat places that I have been to in the bay area. We went here on a Saturday evening and ordered a dahi papdi chaat, channa batura, aloo onion paratha and dal makhni. The channa batura was really tasty, the batura was soft ok the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outer layers, the channa masala had good flavors and the channa was cooked well. The aloo onion paratha served with raitha was also really good. The paratha was surprisingly very soft. The dhal makhni was slightly bland and the dahi papdi chat was good, nothing exceptional. Overall a good first experience. The only issue was that we had to wait for at least 20 mins before we got our food. There's plenty of parking around. But the bathroom was terrible. read more

This is my go to place for a quick no frills North Indian meal. I'll usually go with the parathas and curry or the Bhel combo. The bhel combo has a bhel, 3 curries, ghee rice, yogurt and a dessert. I've found the curries to be slightly diluted on several occasions, especially the mattar paneer(peas paneer) curry. The combo comes with either tea or chaas(yogurt drink). They are often watered down too. Don't expect extra ordinary food or service here. read more

Food is spoiled and infested and you will throw up! I used to love chaat house and have been getting their food every week. Almost every week for many years since early 2000. Knew their whole family here and in India. Now the food quality is so bad that it's shocking. In last 1 month, I got food from them twice. Every time I ate it, I threw up. Capsicum sabji was stinking and had gone bad, pav bhaji and bun - immediately threw up, mixed veg - paneer had got spoiled and chapati - was thick and uncooked. I had got rose lassi - and it was literally looking and smelling bad and tasted bad - I showed the staff at front desk and he just ignored it. I asked him if he think it's ok then drink it and show me and he refused and refused to give exchange with chai. I was wondering if I'm imagining it. So I have a friend who is microbiologist and I had him plate it and he said there is infestation and there is lot of bacteria indicative of food that's gone bad for a while. read more
