Friendly staff and great food. Happy Hour menu offers a good value. Had never had fish tofu before & glad I tried it. Pineapple curry was excellent. Interior is due for a little updating but food is really good.

    Thai tea and hot tea

Pretty good food but the restaurant needs some updating/repairs This was the first restaurant I've been to in beaumont and, with it being a chilly night, I decided that soup or curry would be the best option (or both!) Food: We ordered several dishes. The fried dumplings were good. Not the most flavorful but you can't go wrong with dumplings. I did notice some of the appetizers (like the spring rolls and steamed dumplings) were different at this restaurant than any other Thai one I've been too so definitely read the descriptions. We also ordered the typhoon soup. It was a bit spicy for my taste but good. My mom loved it ! The green curry with tofu was amazing ! Definitely the best dosh of the night. The eggplant was ok. The sauce flavor didn't seem to fit with the eggplant. Drinks: The Thai tea was delicious ! And a huge cup too! Definitely the right choice There were 2 flavors of hot tea which were just teabags. Also the water smelled like sink water/not fresh. Definitely wouldn't recommend Parking: It's in a shopping center so there's tons of parking. We went on a Saturday night and the lot was pretty open. Design/interior: The inside is pretty dated. We were sitting in one of the booths and the vinyl bench seats were very warn/ripped. They also had pretty much no cushion. There also was a bathroom-y smell right when you walk in but that was only right at the front. It didn't bother our eating experience at the booth They do also have happy hour for drinks and appetizers. They also have a drink list with wine and cocktails as well as a full bar.

    Glass in my food

I used to love this place but there was a piece of glass in my food, looks like it came from a plate or something. I chomped down on it very hard on my teeth, I could've swallowed it.

Chaba Pad Kee Mao with a side of peanut sauce soooo delicious! You've got to try it!

This place is the best Thai food in Beaumont and probably the best I've ever eaten so far. The food is always consistent, hot, fresh, and good every time we've been here. The Panang curry, Drunkin noodle, Cashew nut, Chaba fried rice are just a few of my favorites. I'm absolute go to is the Chaba Pad Kee Mao soooo delicious and even better with a side of their homemade peanut sauce. Yes you heard that right.....peanut sauce! You've got to try this you won't be disappointed!

    Chicken pad thai

My chicken pad thai was not good at all. I asked for extra seasoning to no avail. My husband had the sweet and sour. He liked the taste of it and the steamed dumplings. Our service Annie did not notice or acknowledge that my food was not eaten. Either her social cues are off or she just didn't care. The mojito and plum wine were both awesome! IF I return, it will only be for the drinks. This was our first visit here and I must say I'm not impressed. Oh, and the water stained ceilings ugh...

    Pad Kee Mao

Came here based on a recommendation last night. To my delight I learned that they had happy hour so I indulged myself with some hot sake and a bottle of Sapporo. During happy hours, there was a list of appetizers for $3 so I decided to try one of the orders. I first asked the waitress if the gyoza was made in house and she seemed to be taken aback by my question. From what I gathered it did not seem like the gyozas were made in house so I instead went and ordered "spring rolls". While enjoying my beverage, I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and the waitress said that it would be spicy and so I went ahead and ordered it. To my dismay, when the spring rolls arrived... what I actually received was 3 egg rolls instead. If I knew that I wouldn't have ordered it at all. On to the taste of the spring roll, it was crunchy with what seemed like a nice filled egg roll. The sauce was tasteless but the egg roll by itself was good. When the entree arrived, I was looking forward to it as the person that recommended the place to me said I should order this dish. To my disappointment, the dish had zero kick in heat and was overall pretty salty. The shrimps were tiny and the vegetables were cut unevenly. There were maybe a couple few piece of broccoli in it as well. The portion size was big and I was definitely full after finishing my meal. Overall the food was nothing special and everything was just okay.

    Calamari
    Alyssa R.

It was decent. We got three different dishes. The prik king was by far the tastiest although it could have used more vegetables. It was all green beans with the sauce (and whatever meat you choose). The calamari was adequate. The drunken noodle could have used a lot more flavor but still had decent enough broth. The shrimp fried rice was without flavor, which was disappointing. Although, the staff took precautionary measures for health and safety during these times. The parking lot is large as it shares a lot with several other businesses so you shouldn't have trouble finding a spot. I encourage all to not dine in places if you can avoid it as the safest is being home.

There are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants in the area, but I felt Basil House deserves a go. Essentially a hole in the wall, it's located along Palmer Highway not too far from where it meets 146. The building may look small, but the interior begs to differ somewhat. This is the third time I use "Vietnamese," but what's so unique about this eatery is that it also offers Thai dishes. I decided to do both for my first visit; I ordered a Vietnamese grilled pork rice plate and Thai chicken skewers. My orders arrived at my table at the same time, which I thought was nice. Regarding the skewers, the chicken was pretty sizable. It was so tender that it came off the stick after a bite or two. I must admit it was dry, but still a nice way to start a meal. As for the main star of the show, the rice plate, I have nothing but immense love for it. The kitchen staff wasn't stingy with the amount of meat they placed on the plate. Tender just like the chicken, the grilled pork carried a sweet taste that got even better when dipped in the accompanying fish sauce. Oh, I forgot to mention the skewers and the rice plate had cucumbers, which raised the tangy factor. I capped everything off with fried banana and vanilla ice cream. A man who I assumed was the owner of the place acted as my server. He did an outstanding job, refilling my drink and giving me extra napkins. By my estimate, Basil House is the closest Vietnamese restaurant to my house. No need to travel at least ten miles if I want my fill in ice plates, spring rolls, or even pho.

We got the Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, and the Pad KraPrao. Overall the food tasted good, not great. My biggest complaint is that the peanut sauce was something I've never seen (as in DID NOT LIKE) seen. It's some kind of clear liquid thing. They could buy peanut sauce in the Asian section at any grocery store and it would be better. Next was the Pad Thai. It was good, but it feels like they are more worried about the spice level than the quality of the dish. Lastly was the Pad KraPrao. I have eaten at too many Thai restaurants to count, and they all serve this dish the same way: rice on the bottom and the PKP on top. Nice and easy. This place served it (and all the dishes I saw) like Chinese food: Two huge plates, one with rice and one with the PKP. That coupled with the taste (not very good) means that I will not order that again. I will give them another chance. I'll take my own peanut sauce for the spring rolls, and pick a recommendation off of these other reviews.
