I've been disappointed with their food the last few times I've been here. Not sure if there's a new cook but the food were a little bland and not spicy like they should be. I ordered pattaya noodles to go on my last visit. It looks and smells good but again, no spice. My coworker ordered fried rice kee mao and said there wasn't any spice either. Always my favorite comfort food unlike anywhere else! I always get the tom yum gung and i have yet to find anywhere that compares. Inside area is very clean and a relaxing atmosphere. Service was a little lacking. The vegetarian options weren't as good as I thought based on Happy Cow, their non-alcoholic drinks were lacking. I got two appetizers the garden rolls.and the golden triangle tofu. The rolls looked bland, the veggies were very white, mostly vermicelli, and the golden triangle tofu was very bland and unsalted. The garnishes were shredded carrots from a bag and the white part of the cabbage. Sauces were also lacking in flavor and depth. When I didn't show interest in the alcohol menu of meat based entrees, the service put me on the back burner. They weren't able to help me pick an entree that would serve my dietary needs. The menu is phenomenal! The drink menu is ..... a drink menu!!!! A swank bar at Chaba?? Hell yes!!! BYOB to the other location, we do it in house dude!! 47 new menu items is what to expect, similar to some classics, but beautifully different. No more number 31, I would go for 61 at an 8 level( I know you're a bad girl). Feel a wave of joy after scarfing down some spring rolls with wing sauce. This is the worst Drunken Noodle I've ever had. It's a soup of raw chunks of onion, tomato, and green pepper. The noodles are cooked, but not stir fried. And it is a bowl of soup. I've been coming to Chaba for years. First couple of times was at the Lucas location, but ever since this location opened my family has come here whenever we have a Thai craving. Their food is excellent and their service is great. What more could you ask? I usually get Thai tea, prawn rolls, and chicken Panaang curry, which has a red peanut sauce with bell peppers and broccoli. Also, they have a section of the restaurant that has low tables surrounded by "trenches" that allow you to sit on the floor without being cross-legged. Never tried it, but it looks cool! In short, I've never had a bad experience here, and I doubt you will either. read more

Stumbled upon this hidden gem late one night, most places look at you with disdain if you walk in 30 minutes before closing but not this place, I was greeted with a warm welcome and sat promptly. My server was Tracy and she was fantastic, she suggested the Thai tea and it was incredible, not too sweet and just rich enough to feel like a guilty pleasure more than a beverage. I asked about the green curry and she mentioned it being very popular without having trying it herself, she suggested a few things she was a fan of but the curry called my name so I took a chance. Boy am I happy I did, the coconut milk was the main star in the curry, velvety and smooth, warm and spicy, the green curry transported me away to a flavorful destination. I will be back and I will be requesting Tracy again and trying her suggestions next time read more

My best friend and I got this TO GO today and it was incredible! I got the Panang Curry (The lady on the phone recommended it and she even said she could make it less spicy for me). My best friend got the Pad Prik Pow Chicken and added mushrooms. Both of our dishes were so yummy. We got lunch portions and they were very generous servings. Pad Thai was awful. The shrimp tasted spoiled and the noodle texture was tough. Took one bite and had to spit it into my napkin because it was so disgusting. The whole restaurant smelled weird. The shrimp in the soup was overcooked like it had been stewing in the pot all day long. Very disappointed because this place was good the last time I was here. read more

I love Thai food. It embodies such a beautiful appreciation and art of balancing contrasting flavors. Hot with cool, sweet, and tart, savory, and fresh. The papaya salad, drunken noodle, pad prik king are just a few that come to mind. Oh and Don't forget to try a cocktail too they are equally masterful!!! Usually, we love Chaba. However today we ordered the tenderloin ball appetizer and red curry which we don't typically get. I also ordered the tangerine chicken that I usually get. The meat was so tough on the tangerine chicken I couldn't bite through it. I had to get my husbands pocket knife to cut it and it still was tough. Additionally, the curry had no flavor. My baby cousin is in culinary school and makes a real curry that puts this flavorless broth to shame. Finally, the tenderloin balls, which is a stretch of a name, were overcooked meatballs that were not only overcooked, but made us all gag to look at. I don't know if we will ever be back. This is some of the best Asian food ever. I always get the #46 or the pineapple seafood curry, but I've also had some of their appetizers and drinks, and all of it is delicious. The strawberry cheesecake martini is soooo yummy! I'm not a fan of spicy food usually, and a lot of it is spicy, but for Chaba's, I'll happily make an exception as the taste is just too good to pass up! The chicken teriyaki was awesome and the fried rice was absolutely delicious! The pad Thai was a bit too sweet. The decor inside of the restaurant was very nice! You have the option to sit down at a table on the floor, or sit in a booth. Both are equally nice and you have the choice to sit at either. Definitely worth a try! read more

The food is very good, but the service is really horrible. We were there on a Tuesday with very little croud , meaning 6 whole tables with 2 person to 3 persons and the wait staff needs training. Our waitress passed our table so many times without asking us anything or even looked our way. It seemed like all the attention was clearly on one table. The "pleather" (plastic leather) furniture is pealing badly. Just get new furniture please. We've gone many times for carry out and have sat for dinner three times but this was the last straw sitting there for dinner. As you leave the bustle of a strip center you enter into the posh setting of this Thai restaurant and all of a sudden you feel as if you are part of the trendy in crowd. Seating is either at a table or on a raised floor like setting where you can sit on pillows and cross your legs or for the less limber hide your legs under the table. My wife, after first finding this place and having never eaten Thai cuisine, called me up and told me she had the "Thai Pad Noodles" and I had to try them! Sarcastically, I responded that I have never had Thai Pad Noodles but I wondered if the were anything like Pad Thai Noodles. She was too excited to be stifled by my humor. The Thai tea, the Thai tea, The Thai tea. This simple concoction of complex flavors is just about all my wife could talk about for a week (aside from the noodles), but if you are not too into sweet drinks, ask them to go easy on the sweetened condensed milk and if you are adventurous ask them to add a shot of Grey Goose. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was one of the best we have had in a long time. Unfortunately, I can not remember his name or else I would recommend him. Don't be intimidated by the names of the different dishes, just read the description and don't be afraid to ask for suggestions. I grew up with this style of food and it was nothing out of the ordinary, but my wife on the other hand has not had the opportunities to taste Thai as much as I have and is in absolute love of this place. If you want to try something that is not normal for the average person in South East Texas, I would defiantly recommend Chaba's. I've also been to Thailand, but I mainly ate pad thai with peanut sauce until some little Thai woman told me "peanut sauce make fat." But onward. For carry out, we've thoroughly enjoyed the Dowlen/Phelan Chaba Thai's pad prik prow (beef with onions, bell peppers, cucumber, carrots, tomato, pineapple and scallion in sweet and sour sauce) and curry (either the red or panang - can't quite recall). The spring rolls are good, too. For eat in, the interior ambiance is cool, severs friendly, and I really like the bar. It's in a strip mall, but most all things are here in Beaumont. Word association time: Thai food: Beaumont. Sounds like an unlikely pair, but the top of the Golden Triangle pulls it off. We went there around 7:30 - 8:00 on a Saturday night and were seated immediately. There were a few large parties, but plenty of space to sit. We actually sat in the middle section where they have elevated the floor and added cushions so it looks like your sitting on the floor. It is a little gimmicky, but I love gimmicks. Get up from the table is awkward though. Our waitress had perfect timing and manged to always come back at the right time. Whether it was for drink or entree orders, perfect timing. For drinks, we ordered the Thai Tiger. The ingredient list included chili, lemons and ginger. I love natural, organic and funky drinks, but this one fell a little short. It tasted good for a regular bar drink, but would fall low on the unique drink list. I forgot the names and numbers of what we ordered, but they were both fantastic. I'll take a stab and say I ordered number 52. Amongst the flat noodles there was a treasure trove of shrimp, muscles, scallops and squid. The sea life and noodles were pefectly bathed in a spicy and flavorful sauce that was accented with green beans and green peppers. This is a spot you need to come to multiple times just to taste everything. No Thai Tigers though. read more
