First Thai food we've experienced so far in San Diego. It was delicious and cheap. Great flavors and the "medium" was spicy enough for us. We had the chicken pad thai, chicken khao soi, cream cheese puffs, and papaya salad. The restaurant is nothing special but I personally believe that's the sign of a good thai restaurant. This place is a total hole in the wall but it's GOOD. I've been here a handful of times and its legit. It's small so try to avoid peak times if possible. The curry is always delicious. Soups are good. Noodles are on point. The heat levels are consistent which is important for any Thai place. The prices are reasonable, and actually, less expensive than most other places. This place has a lot of potential and is reasonably priced. A good place for a meal with friends!! Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It is now my favorite Thai place and I'm definitely coming back. I got the spring rolls and cream cheese puffs and they tasted amazing. This is my favorite Thai place in SD. The food is always outstanding. The Pad Thai is so so good, the wings are beautifully crispy and the sweet chili sauce that comes with them is so amazing I could drink it, but I won't because the Thai tea is crazy good. You can order online for pickup or delivery and they use delivery services so it's really convenient. The ladies who work the front are friendly and courteous. The food here is very authentic, which is a huge plus for us. Also, there are a few unique menu items that makes Chaba stand out. Crispy basil chicken, som tom, curry puffs are all fantastic examples. i order lunch from there and occasionally take out for dinner. Very dissappointed. After reading the Yelp reviews, I was excited to try this new place. The soup was bland, salad was good, wontons were decent. The spicy noodles had no flavor. I ordered them hot. It was HOT but had no real flavor. I couldn't even bring myself to eat more than half my plate. I love Thai food for the great flavors, This place did not deliver. I am a fan, as my star rating says. Tried many Thai places in SD in the last few months, this is the best so far. Better than anywhere in Hillcrest or N. Park. Located above the Convoy craze, on CM Blvd, but still in a plaza with other Asian fare, in an understated, small, clean, plain space. One woman ran the front of the house, but did it well, smiling, attentive, knowledable and quick. Food was great, and in big portions. Over ordered and got the pad thai with shrimp, eggplant basil with chicken, crispy chicken basil, and fresh spring rolls. Everything was fresh and well flavored. The veggies were gorgeous and sautéed to perfection. My only change would be that when I am asked "how spicy" that I reply "mild" instead of "medium" because medium was HOT. All of it, very hot. My only gripe would be that if labor and rent/Décor costs are kept low, then prices should be a bit lower too. They charge what they can get. Will be going alot more. Yay! read more

I ordered the pad see ew and fell in love. I ordered it at a level 8 spicy and yes I survived. My friend ordered it at a level 2 spicy and it was just as delicious. What I loved about the pad see ew was that the spiciness did not take away from all the rest of the amazing flavors of the dish. My boyfriend ordered the yellow curry and he enjoyed it as well. We ordered Pad Thai chicken with peanut sauce, yellow chicken curry and sweet rice with mango. The wait wasn't very long for the food and the portions were my money's worth. $9.95 for meals and $6.95 for dessert. Pad Thai was so flavorful, yellow chicken curry was the best that I've ever had and I loved that they put a generous amount of coconut sauce over the sweet rice. The place is clean and wasn't too crowded when we came, which was about an hour before closing. The staff are really friendly. We ordered chicken wings for appetizers, which wasn't bad. Not too salty and not overcooked, but nothing amazing about it. The Thai iced tea was really good which I recommend! I got the red curry. For me, I get tired of curry about 3/4 into eating and that's what happened here. The reason why I took away a star is because the mock chicken I got had a rubbery texture which I couldn't get out of my mind. But overall, a nice place to fulfill your hangry needs! Wow, I just want to say I'm absolutely appalled by Chaba Thai. You know, I get mistakes, we're all human, but acting like an ass once the mistake happened is another thing. My fiancé put in an order at 5:30-6pm for delivery at 8pm on Sunday night, so not a crazy Saturday night. 2-2.5 hours to prepare a simple order, no special requests in the order, nothing crazy. Let's do a timeline since a lot of things happened. 5:30-6:00 - Put in order via Eat24 for 8:00 delivery 8:00 - Nothing, no food. 8:10 - Called Eat24 since I thought they hire the drivers (They actually don't, the restaurant hires the drivers I found out) They called Chaba Thai, they said "The food was picked up at 8:05, should be there within the next ten minutes". Cool, I get it, maybe the restaurant was busy, that's fine. 8:30 - No food, call Eat24 again. They contacted Chaba Thai, Chaba Thai called me saying "The food was picked up at 8:05, the driver had another drop off with him along with your food". Alright... it's half an hour past now, it's getting a little ridiculous. 8:45 - The guy knocks on the door. Food in hand. 8:50 - After inspecting the food upon arrival, I notice everything was at a painful lukewarm. I called Eat24 complaining that not only my food was 45 minutes later after being ordered at least two hours in advance, that my food was cold. 8:55 - After being on hold with Eat24, they inform me that the restaurant offered a 10% discount for the food being almost an hour late, and cold, which is absolutely atrocious considering the circumstances. They offered to give a full refund if we returned the food, really guys? So not only do you not even want to give a refund, but you want the food back too? They eventually settled for 50% off the order, but sadly their poor customer service, and disrespect has caused them to lose my business for life. read more

Miss the in person experience. I understand it might be hard to work during a pandemic but it doesn't excuse from not serving fresh food. Customers are still paying. The last two times give gone picked up take out, the food does not taste fresh. This last time the milk tapioca dessert was spoiled :/ and we live to far to have taken it back. The pad see ew noodles had very little beef. The mangoes on the mango curry were black. I feel like they're serving leftover from days now. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back for awhile.
