    Sweet rice with mango

Went here for a friend's going away luncheon. We all ordered the lunch special with different entrees. I got the green curry with mild spice, a Thai iced tea, and mango sticky rice. The food was delicious. Service was o-k... our party was fairly large with four-then- five people at the very end. Inside was a bit warm until they opened the back door and the air began to circulate. I enjoyed my food. The price was AWESOME. I recommend the lunch special for the price. Definitely a great value.

Love Thai food and the effort that goes into the presentation. We tried several different entrees including Thai fried rice, drunken noodles, yellow curry with beef, pad Thai noodles, and of course the sticky rice with mango for dessert. It's a very small restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and as the name suggests, at the corner of the strip mall. It's not huge, and they don't accommodate large parties. The service was great and the staff were friendly. The food was also pretty good.

The Corner Thai Kitchen actually does take up the corner of this shopping/ dining plaza! Its cozy corner was inviting us in for some Thai Eats! There is patio seating, a few tables in the front, and booth seating. Drunken Noodles (4/5): Great chewy texture on the noodles! Decided to get it mild and so without the spice, the overall flavors of the noodles are sweet from the bell peppers and bamboo shoots. There was a decent amount of chicken in the noodles and the portions were well balanced. Pork (4/5): We were recommended this as an alternative to their crying tiger as they were out of it. The entree comes with a bowl of rice. It came with carrots, broccoli, and cabbage for garnish as well as a dipping sauce. I tasted rice powder the sauce, and it was very tangy. I didn't use much of it as I found the flavor of the pork was better on its own. The pork was not dry which was a saving factor we would definitely prefer beef more! It makes for a casual spot for Thai food for the area. I would have to try other options, but overall our picks were decent.

Corner Thai Kitchen is the kind of place that reminds you why small dining rooms and big flavors will always beat flashy decor and fusion nonsense. It is authentic in all the right ways, not because it tries to impress you, but because it cooks like someone's grandma who has been feeding a village for forty years and still worries you did not eat enough. The cao soi soup is the star. A bowl that feels like a warm handshake. Rich broth, tender chicken, noodles with just the right chew, and that golden curry aroma that hits you before the spoon does. It is comfort with personality, the kind of dish that makes you pause mid bite and nod to yourself like you just solved a small mystery. The pad Thai is another winner. Balanced, bright, not too sweet, not too oily, and full of that wok kissed depth that only comes from someone who respects the craft. It is the version you compare other pad Thais to without even realizing it. And the lunch specials. A blessing. Generous portions, fair prices, and enough variety that you can rotate through the menu without ever feeling like you are settling. It is the kind of lunch setup that makes you feel like the restaurant is on your side. The dining room is narrow, almost like a walkway, but somehow the booths still give you privacy. It feels less like a commercial restaurant and more like you wandered into a Thai family diner where everyone knows the recipes by heart. There is a coziness to it, a lived in charm that makes you relax before the food even arrives. Corner Thai Kitchen is the real deal. Honest cooking, comforting dishes, and a space that feels like it was built for feeding people rather than impressing them. Five stars for heart, flavor, and that grandma energy that never misses.

I began here way back on 2018. They've remodeled since then. Super friendly staff, great parking and easy on the wallet. Lose a star because the Curry Puffs are cold, not throughly cooked.

Good food and service. Limited seating inside but they also have sitting outside. Thank you Corner Thai Kitchen for your hospitality and good food, can't wait to come back and try something different on your menu.

I have a new lunch routine and it's the best hack when I am hungry but want to be healthy: steamed veggie side, steamed jasmine rice side. Buy the peanut sauce and ask for a side of the vinegar with peppers in it. Mix the sauce with the pepper vinegar. Put rice as your base in a bowl with your veggies and some sauce to top. If you want to be bougie pay them a dollar for small side of crushed peanuts topping and sprinkle it on top. This makes at least two lunches. If I want proteins the fried egg is cooked delicious. But normally the rice and veggies is enough and so delicious. the ladies are always busy but so kind and there is a gentleman sometime working who is very kind too. I love their decorations and they put in effort to always keep it clean.

Got pork pad thai, total came out to be $20, not including tips. Tried level 3 spice. Tasted like any regular pad thai. Not that memorable.

My first time here. They have their own private parking lot and offer both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was good. I ordered the Kapow Thai Kai Dow with ground white chicken meat -- it came with green beans, onions, basil, a fried egg, and rice. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. I really enjoyed my meal!

Whole fried fish , ginger sauce with veggies came w fish, Drunken Noodle, sweet rice with fresh mango.

Drunken noodles are still as delicious as the first time I tried them , 9 months ago. Medium spice was a little too spicy for me... black Cheetos spicy level ( hopefully you know what I mean) :)... or very close to serrano chile spicy. Next time I will ask for mild and chili on the side . Service was great- i ordered to go. My only complaint is that now they serve less shrimps :( ... 9 months ago I mentioned shrimp was not enough... this time it was also not enough but, I wont mention how many or else they might serve less :( Will I be back? Maybe... but I will buy my shrimp at the grocery store and cook them myself and I will add to noodles.

Came here for a work lunch. There's plenty of parking even during the lunch rush. The place is nicely decorated and outdoor seating is available as well. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food is really good. The textures were just right and the spicy levels are from level 1-10. I like spicy, so 2-3 was pretty good. Would definitely come here. The Tom Yum was so good and their portions are HUGE. They do have a lunch menu, it comes with sides and a small soup. I can eat, but it was too much goodness for one sitting.

Great experience overall. I ordered the yellow chicken curry, pineapple fried rice with added sausage, wings, and the sampler. The potatoes and carrots were undercooked in the curry. Aside from that the food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. Service was good and friendly. Restaurant was nice and cozy.

The seating area is small and parking can be challenging, but the food more than makes up for it. The fish tacos were outstanding--some of the best I've had in San Diego. Both the smoked fish taco and the beer-battered fish taco were incredible and packed with flavor. The seafood tower was also amazing, fresh, and beautifully put together. The only item that missed the mark for me was the al pastor taco, which was a little too sweet for my taste. Everything else was excellent. If you're looking for quality seafood, amazing fish tacos, and a casual spot with great energy, El Viejon Seafood is definitely worth a visit. Service was nice and fast. Good tasting salsa selections

I was in line right after a bunch of people, but as soon as it was my turn (I was also last in the line), the female cashier left and started cleaning tables without acknowledging me or letting me know she'd be right back. I was left standing there for an awkward three minutes until another guy who had been at the front the whole time dealing with sauces finally asked if I was ready to order. This left me feeling really out of place, especially since my husband and I were also the only non Spanish speaking in the restaurant at the time. As for the food, it was mixed feelings. The El Viejon burrito had good flavor, and I enjoyed the smokiness of the tuna and octopus. I would have liked more cabbage to give it some needed crunch because after a few bites, the burrito just felt kind of mushy. We also ordered the Papas Fritas, which were marked as a "must try" on their menu, but they are definitely NOT a must try. They turned out to be pretty boring fried sliced potatoes with just some hot sauce thrown over them. My husband said they were basically just hot potato chips. On the positive side, they do offer a nice condiment bar with a variety of salsas ranging from creamy, spicy, to sweet. They also had spicy pickled red onions and chile toreados. However, between the dismissive service and the average food textures, the overall experience was meh.

We came hungry and decided to share Combo #5, which came with a total of 5 lbs. of seafood along with corn and sausage all tossed together in the bag. It was definitely more than enough for our group to share, and we loved being able to dig in and try a little bit of everything! The sauce was one of the biggest highlights of the meal for us. It was so flavorful and really made the seafood even better. I also loved that you can choose your own spice level, so you can customize it depending on how much heat you can handle. We definitely appreciated having that option! Another dish we really enjoyed was the crab rangoon. These were so good because they actually use real crab, which made them taste even better and feel a little more elevated than your typical crab rangoon. I would definitely recommend ordering these as an appetizer! We also tried the garlic noodles. They were good and paired nicely with the seafood, but I do think they could use a little more flavor to really stand out. That was probably the one thing we felt could be improved. The service was a little slow during our visit, but overall the staff was nice and the food made up for the wait. We also got really lucky with parking, which is always a win in the Convoy area because the parking lot can get absolutely crazy depending on the time you go! Overall, we had a great time at Submarine Crab and really enjoyed the food, especially the flavorful sauce and the crab rangoon. The fish was really fresh and good, and I enjoyed both sauces with the garlic butter being my favorite. The best way I could describe the place is a fast food style casual seafood dining restaurant. There was plenty of parking, and the restaurant was relatively clean considering we were there during the lunch rush. Ordering is self service at a kiosk and then they call your order when it's ready. There was an issue with my rockfish and they initially only gave me a piece and a half smaller portion. They acknowledged it when I went to pick up at the counter before I even noticed. They were going to make me another piece, and that new second piece took forever. They seemed to have a ton of options for my family who didn't specifically get seafood boils so we went ahead for Mothers Day. When we got there the service was okay, our waitress didn't really check on us much at all besides putting a bunch of lemon slices on our table but no major complaints. We did start off with drinks and some of us got the wrong ones but no biggie because it's busier on a holiday. What I had a problem with was the food itself. I asked for the combo #2 because I thought it was 1lb of snow crab leg like I get every single time, I got it "pub style" which is supposed to be all seasonings like garlic butter Cajun lemon pepper in one. They asked me if I wanted shrimp, sausage or craw fish as my second and I told her I didn't want any of that and just wanted ALL crab legs. I don't know if she fully understood because when I got my boil I could tell it was noticibly smaller. There wasn't 1lb by any means, and looking back I wish I could've said something. I think they just took the amount of crab they got me and cut it in half instead of substituting and adding more. I wouldn't mind if it's extra money, I just want the crab so oh well. The sauce was the second worst thing ever. It did not taste anything like other places, but way worse. All I could taste was a watery spicy Cajun, and even on mild how I got it it was pretty spicy. It lacked any real flavor so on that alone I'd never go back. I usually always get a Cajun garlic butter and it's seasoned to the Gods but still light and potent. This was just not good, and didn't even feel buttery but more a watery oil. We did also get the garlic noodles and they were good. I make garlic noodles at home AMAZING though, so these were average and nothing to write home about since other places can still do them just as good, if not better. A place in SD that had ones even better was called Crab City and their boil tasted great. I would recommend that place instead of this. The reviews and menu pictures had me with much higher expectations and I was super let down. Forgot to mention, my husbands shrimp po boy, he said the shrimp tasted off and fishy like not fresh which made him only eat half and never go back for the leftovers. There was a super sweet sauce on it as well that tasted random to me when I took a bite so I would stay away from that as well. I also had to pay extra for my potato's that normally come with your boil at every other place. They usually come with potatoes and corn but this place came with nothing and you even needed to pay extra for potatoes but they were bigger and different then usual with no salt or anything so they were not worth getting at all, nor finished by me.

There were five of us ladies, and it was really nice to be able to enjoy crab legs, adult chicken tenders, mocktails, and some people got cocktails. When we arrived, we had to wait for the whole party to get there and so it was only about a five minute wait while the others parked. NOTE: Parking is a challenge in this shopping center. I highly recommend parking on the side streets. Luckily my friend that I rode with was able to get a parking spot within the first three minutes of us arriving. The place was not packed, which was good. There were only about 20 people dining when we got there. As soon as we were seated, it was great because we were seated next to family members that we didn't know we're going to be there. That was really cool. Overall, the visit was perfect. The service was great. Brian was our server. For five people we ordered: 2 crab leg combos bags with House sauce mild, 1 order a sweet potato fries as the appetizer, 1 adult chicken tenders meal with a side of House sauce, and 4 bowl sides of rice. They give you so much rice that I would recommend two people sharing the bowl. The rice is made perfect perfectly with perfect sticky level and perfect tender consistency. Our crab legs were delicious and very filling as well as the corn and potatoes that comes in the bag. The house mild seasoning was perfect. I have to say that the sweet potato fries were a bit spicy and peppery. Overall, we had excellent customer service, a good time, and the place was clean, which makes it extra special. I will definitely come back to this location again.

Malatang has become so popular in SD, especially around Convoy, and I've noticed several new spots opening up in just the past couple of years. We tried the Malatang with the classic bone broth and tom yum broth. Both were alright - the broths were lighter and not as heavy or rich as some other Malatang places. It's a good option if you prefer something less oily and more on the lighter side. Their fried desserts - the Coconut Lava Balls and Brown Sugar Glutinous Rice Cakes - were pretty good. They had just the right amount of sweetness and weren't overly sweet, making them a nice way to end the meal. Even though they now offer Malatang, their Chinese-style fish soups are still worth checking out. Their menu originally centered around dishes like suancai fish, a popular Chinese comfort food that's relatively new to the SD food scene. If you're not in the mood for Malatang, the Tangy Lemon Fish and Golden Beef Soup are solid alternatives. The ingredient selection is good, and the restaurant is clean and welcoming.

Since I'm not the biggest spice fan, I usually order the Tangy Lemon Fish and the Royal Tomato Fish. If you like spice, then I recommend the Signature and the Laotan Suancai and Fish - both have a nice numbing mala spice to them. Perfect combination of salty, sour, and spicy flavors. For each bowl, you start by picking whether you want the base to be snakehead or basa fish. You then select 4 sides from a list (I highly recommend the vermicelli). Additional sides cost extra. For a small sized bowl, 1 bowl of rice is included. For a large sized bowl, 2 bowls of rice are included. The large size is enough to feed 2 people. I'd recommend ordering at least 3 larges if your party is 3 or more people.

The tacos are wonderfully battered without it being overwhelmingly breaded. The cabbages and tomatoes on top were very refreshing, but for a nice kick, they have a small salsa bar with grilled chili peppers available and those were delicious! They also offer free seafood consume, which taste great on the fish taco, as a tortilla chip dip, or just on its own to sip on (although a bit on the salty side). There was a canopy set up with too long tables to provide some shade while eating. They also have napkins and hand sanitizer available. Overall, a great spot for some fish tacos!

We were given a complimentary cup of tomato seafood broth to enJoy while we were waiting. Tasty! Service was fine. We took the tacos to go and they were indeed fresh, hot, and lightly battered. The fish was very flaky and enjoyable to eat. Each taco had chopped onion, cilantro & cabbage on it as well as white sauce. The tacos are fairly large, and honestly two tacos were fine for me, so M. enjoyed four tacos and was happy about that. They have a selection of sauces that are labeled. They were out of the habanero, but the green jalapeño one was tasty with just a bit of heat. If you are in the mission valley area, this is a good taco Tuesday deal. This is a food truck, so there are limited amenities. They do have a couple of tables under a canopy where you can stand and eat if you wish, otherwise, you can take your food to go. Kiko's is also known for their delicious ceviches as well as other taco options, so give them a try. Prices are reasonable! Gracias!
