We ordered the Chado Afternoon Tea Service ($35 per person) & I would say that this is a VERY good price in comparison to other places that I've been to. Our server Sam was the absolute sweetest & he also gave us a complimentary drink! This place is the perfect space to host a fun event!

We visited Chado Tea Room for the Bridgerton tea experience and had a lovely afternoon. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is charming and cottagecore, making it a great choice for a bridal shower, baby shower, or special outing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Bridgerton package was a fun touch, and Sam provided excellent service throughout our visit. The tea was excellent, and the warm scones with clotted cream were the highlight of the meal. My only wish is that the food matched the quality of the tea service. The sandwiches were fairly simple, and the pastries felt like an afterthought. For our anniversary, the staff kindly surprised us with ice cream, which was a thoughtful gesture, but it tasted fairly generic. Overall, you're paying for the experience, atmosphere, and tea service rather than the food itself. That said, we did leave with a tea set, which made for a nice takeaway and souvenir from the visit.

My husband and I visited Chado Tea Room for my birthday celebration, and we had a wonderful experience. We ordered the Celebration Tea Service, which included chocolates, a specialty drink, soup or salad, sandwiches, cookies, a scone, and a pot of tea for each of us. The presentation was absolutely beautiful and made the experience feel extra special. I chose the Jasmine Vanilla tea, which was delicious. My husband ordered a green tea and, despite not usually being a fan of hot tea, he really enjoyed it as well. The tea selection and quality definitely stood out and felt superior. While the food was good, I would say the real highlights were the atmosphere, presentation, and overall experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside, and the patio was beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A special shoutout to our server, Sam, who was incredibly friendly and attentive. Once he found out it was my birthday, he surprised me with a birthday dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the celebration even more memorable. We truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend Chatto Tea Room. I would love to come back again, especially for a girls' brunch or another special occasion.

Made a reservation for the Chado In Wonderland for my sister's birthday. The service was so great and the teas and food were delicious, we took our time indulging in this special experience and we both love Alice In Wonderland, we thought it was great! After, we were both given a tea cup and saucer and my sister received a special birthday surprise. Would definitely do this again! The atmosphere was great as well.

Classy, elegant decor. We really enjoyed our experience there. Sam, our server, was very kind and helpful with giving recommendations. Their gluten free bread for their sandwiches did not taste like it was gluten free. It was quite delicious. My party tried their regular menu and were very pleased. Their selection of teas and scones were great. Unfortunately they did not have any gluten free scones or gluten free other desserts. The macaroons might have been gluten free, as macaroons usually are, but I did not try them. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and will return. I recommend the chicken salad with cranberry sandwich and the lychee or mango green tea!

Went to Chado Tea Room this past weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. They had the Bridgeton special that weekend and it was the last week of that theme. I made a reservation two weeks in advance since this place is busy during the weekends. The waiter gave us the Bridgeton set menu and asked what tea we wanted. I opt for the Benedict's Artist Palette while my friends got the Violet's rose garden and Penelope's Hibiscus Chamomile. I would say the Violet rose garden tasted the best. The finger sandwiches were fun to eat and was able to try out the different kinds. The scone was dry but with the cream, it was really good. Also, we were provided gloves and fans with the high tea. The tea cups and tea pots were really detailed and pretty. There is no free parking in pasadena so we parked at the parking structure.

Spring Afternoon Tea - Sweet Treats, Warm Scone, Savory Selection.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Spacious tea room. Very relaxing and pleasant atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Customer service is accommodating and delivers prompt service. With the limited-time Spring Afternoon Tea selection I ordered, they allow you to choose from the main tea menu instead of purely confined to ordering from the specific teas listed on the Spring Afternoon Tea menu. The highlight was the T-48 Margaret's Hope Black Tea - robust and flavorful, balanced, full-bodied and smooth. The appetizer salad was alright, needed more veggies and a more noticable vinegarette dressing. Some of the sandwiches and sweets were good but nothing noteworthy, but some were just lackluster and a little dry. Not one of the best tea food platters I've had. The tea though is top quality. Come here for the tea!

Took my sister here and we had a lovely time. There is a long list of teas to choose from and several options on the menu. We chose the Celebration Menu to try out the different things (tea infused chocolates, ice tea, etc.). This came with four sandwiches, which turned out to be enough. The tomato soup is really good and everything else (lox, cucumber sandwiches, chocolates, etc.) was what you would expect from a nice tea. Definitely eat the scone first and while it's warm. It tastes best when it's first served and the cream and jam go well. If you wait until later, it hardens a bit and isn't as enjoyable. There are lots of teas to choose from but you can only get one type, so choose wisely. (If you want to try a new one or get a new pot, it's additional.) We sat inside because there was more room. Outside there's a cute little patio area. If the tables away from the sidewalk are open, that seems cool. The seats right by the sidewalk seemed too close to people walking by. In a nice day, it's a tempting choice to sit outside. But inside was fine, as was the service. Overall, it's a nice, pretty affordable option for tea (considering how expensive some other places are) and I'm glad we tried it out.

    The Valentine's menu

The Valentine's menu was pleasant and easy to enjoy. It works well for a girls' outing or a casual birthday celebration, and I also saw many families dining there. They're currently offering a Valentine's promotion with 20% off teas, which is a nice bonus. This is a long-established tea room with over 35 years of history and an impressive selection of teas. Even just smelling the different tea aromas felt relaxing and healing. I personally prefer the indoor atmosphere at the Hollywood location, but at the Pasadena location, sitting outside is the way to go. Grabbing an outdoor table and enjoying the sunshine and fresh air really enhances the experience.

My brother and I had a lovely time at Chado. We stopped by and enjoyed the Chado afternoon tea package. We loved the scones, the chicken sandwich and the adorable dish-ware. Sam treated us so well and let us come in earlier than our late reservation. Highly recommend!

We came to Chado Tea Room to celebrate my mom's birthday, and the experience was absolutely perfect--largely thanks to Sam. From the moment we sat down, Sam's service was outstanding. He was incredibly informative, walked us through everything with care, and made the whole experience feel special rather than rushed or scripted. We ordered the Bridgerton tea package along with the birthday tea package, and the portions were spot on--the perfect amount of food, treats, sweets, and tea. Nothing felt excessive, nothing felt lacking. What really made the day memorable was Sam himself. He was playful, genuinely warm, and laughed right along with our corny jokes, which made the celebration feel relaxed and fun. At one point, he even came over and shared his favorite tea with us--butterscotch--and wow... it was incredible. Rich, cozy, and easily one of the best teas I've had. We also tried a wine-inspired tea called Hawaiian Cocktail, served iced, and it was so refreshing--perfect for a warm day. I loved it so much that I ended up buying two ounces of loose leaf tea to take home. This was such a thoughtful, joyful birthday experience for my mom, and we couldn't have asked for better service. I would absolutely come back here again, no question. Ask for Sam!!

    Kimberley H.

This is a cute establishment. I wouldn't say it was high end "high tea" but definitely cute and a vibe. The staff were super nice and attentive. The cups and tea pots are adorable. The tea selection is a good size but not extensive. By was very delicious. The tomato soup was super delicious. You get a good selection of sandwiches and desserts. The biscuits and cream were my favorite I would come again

My friend made a reservation at Chado and invited me to go with her after lunch. Since I hadn't been there since COVID, I was glad for the opportunity. The restaurant was fully decorated for Christmas--even in November. There was a beautiful Christmas tree right at the entrance, and the whole place felt warm and festive. Since we had just eaten lunch, we didn't have room for a full afternoon tea set, so we decided to share a pot of tea and each ordered a scone. I got an orange cranberry scone, and my friend chose a blueberry one. The tea came out nicely, and the scones were good as well. My friend enjoyed the clotted cream so much that she finished the whole thing. The surprise of the day was when Sam, who served us, brought us a complimentary taste of champagne. It was such a thoughtful gesture and really made our day.

Is there a Mother's Day tea? Or a way to reserve the Celebration Tea? I was able to book a reservation for 5/11 at 11am, but I didn't see any choice of event or anything. Thanks1

It's best to book with them directly instead of booking online as I have seen people have problems with making reservations online. Also, if you call them, they might be able to tell you if they have any special menu for Mother's Day in the future.

Is this near downtown Pasadena? Walking distance to shops? A good area to walk around in after tea?

The tea room is in Old Town Pasadena, surrounded by plenty of shops to explore. While street parking can be a bit of a treasure hunt, the Old Pasadena Marriott Parking Lot is a great spot to safely tuck your car away!

Can I bring a cake or dessert for a birthday celebration?

Absolutely! We do offer plenty of desserts in house. However, if you still wish to bring your own cake then there is a $25 cake cutting fee associated with outside desserts.

    Best Parking option?

Street metered parking or the parking structure on union.

Is this a kid friendly location for special events?

It depends on the types of kids you have. Obviously there's porcelain tea pots everywhere, it's a tea house so everyone is there for a calm and relaxing experience. But I brought my 10 year old son and we had a wonderful time. If you have a group of… Read more

Are you guys open from 10am? Because online it lets me make a reservation for 10am however on your website it says hours of operation start 11am? If I showed up at 10am will someone not be there?

Hello, usually we are open at 11am; however, we are opening a little early for Mother’s Day.

    Do you sell crumpets?

We have scones with cream, preserves and lemon curd, but we don’t have crumpets.

Wanted to do a tea party themed bday for my 6yr old, maybe 10-15 people in total, is it kid friendly or more for adults?

For vegan or gluten free options, we request that customers call prior to their visit to notify us of their dietary needs so our team can discuss available options with them

We chose outdoor since it was such a nice day out. They have all of their desserts on display in the case, so you can peruse the options and see what looks good. So many of the desserts looked good, like the matcha yuzu chiffon crepe cake or the rose and lychee crepe cake. We ordered via the kiosk and got the mango sunshine souffle pancake ($16.50) and well as a couple drinks. My drink was the white peach lemon jasmine bliss ($6.25), with 50% sweetness and less ice. Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

Since we were in the area, my husband, our little girl dog and I decided to order our drinks online and then just pick up in store. Although this is our first time visiting this location, we are no stranger to Sunright in general and typically have had positive experiences with their drinks. We ended up ordering: Mango Jasmine Tea, $6.25- I ordered this drink for my husband to be made with no ice and 50% sweetener. This drink was too sweet. It tasted like it was made with 100% sweetness. Matcha Latte w/ Pistachio Cheese Foam, $6.95- I ordered this drink for myself to be made with less ice (as no ice was no ice was not an option) and 25% sweetener. This drink was also very sweet and so I ended up added hot water to it when I got home to dilute the sweetness. --------------------------------- (Total= $13.20, tax included) After ordering, I had received a text message within 8 minutes letting me know that my order was ready. I was rather disappointed with my order and so was my husband. Although the flavor of the tea drinks itself was fine, the level of sweetness was just too sweet for us. I am not sure if the employee had just given us 100% sweetness or not, but this isn't typical of our experience at other locations, including Arcadia and San Gabriel. I hope this was just a one time error and that it doesn't happen again. Please note that the employee who gave us our order was friendly and she also seemed very happy when she saw our dog with us (as most people usually seem to be in spirits when they see her).

We ordered for pickup for 1 Thai Tea with boba. My partner loved it; the amount of boba they put in was a great ratio to Thai Tea. It wasn't overly sweet like some other spots we have tried. I tried 2 different drinks because I don't like ordering the same thing every time. I tried the strawberry slushie. I enjoyed it very much the strawberry flavoring didn't taste like chemicals like some places make it. It was perfect for a hot summer day. The next drink I tried was the mango jasmine tea which I thought was delicious. It had the perfect mango flavoring that wasn't overly powerful as you can still taste the jasmine and tea. Only gripe I have is the location. They are in prime time real estate on Colorado. Which makes parking more difficult as you can't pop in and pop out with to go orders. The employees were extremely friendly and apologetic about how difficult it was to find it when you try to park. There are 2 different parking garages to park in that area and walk to them to save yourself the hassle.
