Let me first say I LOVE THIS PLACE! Went for Brunch and came back for DINNER! For breakfast we ordered the Brunch Tacos and Cinnamon Brioche French Toast with bacon. The server was John and he was so sweet and attentive. AND whatever those sweet biscuits they give you during Brunch was a mini piece of Heaven. For dinner we had Crab dip, the bread could've been a little softer but it didn't stop us from eating it. I had a Pear Mule and it was pretty tasty! I've come to the opinion that no restaurant should be rated on a first time visit. A visit is just a page and not the whole story. Unfortunately, ratings don't go away and can have an overall negative affect on a business. About 7 months ago I rated Chadwick's a 3 based on my first visit and today returned to see if that experience was just a page or the theme in their story. I'm happy to say today's visit was much better. We took advantage of their brunch menu to get a late breakfast. My wife had the Brioche French toast and I had the Two Egg breakfast. She chose ham for her protien, I went with the recommended bacon. Both meals came out hot and we're very good. We agreed the bacon was much better than the ham (ham is cut like thick deli ham rather than ham steak). Everything else was delicious. The service at the table was friendly and helpful. Let's start with our waitress. Alyssa is AMAZING! Her personality is just what we needed on today's wintery Sunday morning. She did an awesome job of convincing us to go for the bottle of champagne (aka do it yourself mimosas) versus paying by the glass. Then the food... we had blueberry pancakes with a side of bacon. Oh the bacon...so tasty! I got huevos rancheros and my main squeeze ordered the Scottish scramble. The home fries/potatoes were super tasty. No ketchup needed. My family and I ordered: *Crab dip: Needed much more old bay, this was actually a little on the sweet side and didn't taste at all like what we were expecting. Bread to dip ratio was good though *Firecracker shrimp: This was suggested to me instead of the fish tacos to get more spice, but they weren't spicy at all, I was expecting a rub of sorts/grilled instead of breaded and fried, which is 1 flavor, which then competed with the siracha mayo. Amt of shrimp was decent though Hubs got the seafood cob with the lemon vinagrette and found the dressing completely tasteless so needed another way to doctor up the salad. FIL got the crab cake sammy, which is a small cake for the price and MIL got the fish tacos, which actually looked nice. My husband and I loved this place. They had an excellent selection of beer. Though I wanted a specific beer that they did not have, the waiter was able to make a few suggestions based on the flavor profile. I enjoyed it. My husband enjoyed his beer selection also. I ordered a burger and Mac and cheese while my husband ordered a burger with fires(of course I stole a few of them)! No complaints here. The bacon jam was delicious on my burger. Only thing was the acoustics made it hard to talk with one another. But I think sitting in a different section would help us. They made us feel invited and valued! At 11:00pm we were looking for a place to eat. This was open until 2am. So why not give it a try. After being greeted so kindly, we went upstairs to sit down. The bartender was so kind and gave recommendations. I had the fried chicken with Mac and cheese, coleslaw, a biscuit, and bacon gravy. My girlfriend had the crab cake sandwich. I've never in my life had a dish so good that I left wanting more. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy. It sat on top of the biscuit and soaked up all of the juices from the chicken as well. I hate biscuits because they are so dry, but this one wasn't. The coleslaw was absolutely amazing, so flavorful! The Mac and cheese was good by itself but paired with everything else...amazing! That bacon gravy.. you need to check it out for yourself. The crab sandwich, was absolutely incredible. It was juicy, seasoned to perfection, the sauce paired with the sandwich!!!! OMG! I wish I could leave less than 1 star. This restaurant says it is open until 2am. What they don't post is they stop serving you prior to close. In my case, I came in for a couple of beers last night. I tried to get the bartenders attention to order but she did not want to make eye contact and had her back turned to me. When I asked for a second beer, she told me they were closed with 10 minutes left to 2am without ever turning around. Tvs were off at that time to drive the message home that she was done. How ever, another guest requested them back on and she did turn it on. As usual I over tipped and simply will not return due to the lack of hospitality. I would give 3.5 stars if that Yelp feature was available. This has been a local establishment since 1967 and you could definitely tell it has that old time pub/restaurant vibe. Brick walls, much of the furniture is wooden, and just an overall older decor. Plenty of seating as they have 2 levels, tables, and booths. Came here on half price burger night which they have every Monday. However, there is 1 string attached. You must purchase a drink in order to get the burger half price. Stuff like that annoys me. If you're gonna have half price burger night, don't attach a string or strings. Maybe I'm cheap, but I usually just get water. But no, I had to order unsweetened ice tea. I got mushrooms and avocado as extra with the burger. It includes lettuce, tomato, and pickles like most places. It would have been nice if they sliced up the avocado, rather than just dumping the whole thing on the bun. It's obviously going to fall off when you try to hold the burger together, so I end up having the avocado on the side. Nevertheless, the burger was very good. French fries were just average. These seemed a little soggy. I prefer my french fries to be crisp. In addition, I felt like they were slightly stingy with the amount of french fries, but not the end of the world. In addition, I also ordered a cup of the creamy clam chowder. That was terrific. It came out hot and was everything I hoped it would be. Creamy and delicious! Service was pretty good. Our drinks were refilled without us having to ask. Our waiter was very friendly. From the time we ordered, it took maybe 20 or 25 minutes for our burgers to come out, but I was fine with that. Wasn't in a rush to get anywhere and enjoyed spending time with good friends. Overall, this is a solid place with lots of different food options. I've been to two work happy hours here. To take advantage of $4 Chardonnay and Cabernet head up the staircase to the bar. They also have $4 beers, including Chadwick's Amber. The food isn't out of this world, but I'm a sucker for their chicken tenders. Most of the food is decently priced (not necessarily marked down for happy hour). The nachos are $12, which I think is a little pricey, but my coworkers like them. For comparison, the french fries are $6 and the chicken tenders are $9. I love the decor of Chadwicks. You feel like you're in the belly of a wooden ship. I live in DC, so it's nice to get a vibe that isn't industrial, boujee, or hipster. Very wholesome. The only thing I really don't like about Chadwicks is that their bar area is SUPER small. You can only get happy hour prices at the actual bar. You can't order at the bar and then go sit at a table even though the tables aren't full. I often come with 10 coworkers, so we take up most of the bar area (especially with our winter gear and work bags). Overall, a nice restaurant right by the river. read more

Chadwick's has been our go-to for many years for Sunday brunch, so consistently that my iPhone scares me by telling me how long it will take to get there WITHOUT me putting my destination in the GPS! (Spooky artificial intelligence ) My husband has tried most items on the menu and really likes the clam chowder, the salmon BLT, the pancakes, and the crispy chicken sandwich. I stick with an omelette, my favorite being a feta, spinach and mushroom omelette. The hash browns are very good, but I usually ask for fruit or avocado for my side. Mimosas are only $4, so I usually have one. It's always packed for brunch, and they only take reservations for large parties. Since they push together the tables for 2 to create seating for large parties, the wait for a two-top can be very long, so we sit at one of the two bars. The bartenders are great, especially Karen & Katie at the first-floor bar. We've also enjoyed lunch during the week, and there are lots of choices for me, despite my pickiness and not eating meat. If you're looking for fancy, you won't find it here; but if you're looking for lots of choices, good food, good service and reasonable prices, you'll find it at Chadwicks. read more
